Below is the .CAB file for installing the Today BT Plugin that will never disappear and even resizable font as other Today plugins :!:
Follow the instructions below for correct installation that shall gaurantee a stable Today BT icon: -
1. Uncheck the "Profile" in Today icons.
2. Delete the respective key "Profile" found in \HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\
3. Install the attached CAB file and reset your device.
After reset you shall find the BT headset icon stable and even selectable with your D-pad

BTW check your cab. it is not working.

Of course it is HTC plugin file. Except that if you checked it you'de read a different version than the one available on those 2.06 ROM :!:
I did not rename nor re-invented, all I have done is extracted the same file from 2.20.07CHE ROM which I have tested and found it stable and "selectable" too.
I do not underestimate you, except that I wanted to share this file with those who complained about the same issue on this forum, pal :wink:

Doesn't this reduce the work of deleting the respective key "Profile" found in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Today\Items\
Since we alredy know that profile.dll is faulty and does not have any more hidden function.

After all for you as an advanced user, it is ez. But for those then it might be hard to do :!:

Just need to run this cab and restart.
It replaces "\Windows\Profile.DLL" as "\Windows\Profile_Original.DLL",

To make matters worse, I then installed a third one over the top (again forgetting to remove the first two) to fix things
I now have a severely messed up dialpad.
What is the easiest way to remove all the dialpad skinning and get back to default blank settings, without hard reset?

have you tried removing the last skin from the remove prog. and then soft- resetting...
these are spb-dialpad skins that you used

the iphone dialpad you have is mostlikely for the eten dialer...in which case there is not much you can do...how-ever if you would like to build a dialer just uncompress the spb dialer cab...these are the file with the dimensions that you need to make

I use IZArc. It's free and can handle most archive formats including cabs. I use it for everything except zip, which is native to Win XP.

use this theme it is VGA and it solves the problem it is WM6 VGA dialpad theme for WM5 devices. Hoop that it helps try it !!! after installing retsart your Athena or Ameo and you will see the WM6 dialpad VGA theme.

you need cabmanager to do the job i have PM'd you the dowload link download and all the instructions are included there !!! you can extract all exe files or any files from CAB and you can make CAB files !!! it is the best prograam in managing CAB files !!

ever since wm6.1 came my cedit shows funny fonts if i open any xml file on my mobile to edit may be its due to fonts ,cedit uses something like single pitched fonts as it says so i have 2 options left
1st > ask you people for xml editor other than cedit.
or 2nd > may switch back to font type which wm5 and gullum VII versions used (that is if fonts hav't changed ever since then cedit won't give any problem.)

Of course - I am very sorry for wasting your time and have edited my posting.
well i found that about 2mb of fonts have been removed from nvid so , clean editions only have tahoma and tahomabd ,therefore i copied those fonts extracted from nvid and cedit works now ,actually you need courier new or cmbr font probably here below are all fonts.

in the rar i gave courier is shown to be 180kb and can directly be copied to dumprom dump folder for neokit users just need to refresh packages,but i gave all of them (15 files in total i guess)since i think "mtsorts" and "symbolmt" fonts are important too ,for cedit only courier new in this rar solves the problem that is 180Kb .
ps. cour.ttf might be hidden so you need to disable do not show hidden files to see it.

The actual program is for WM5.0 but I'm running a ROM w/ WM6.5 and it's nooooo problem! Just click the link above and it'll take you to the Save File dialog for the .cab file ^_^ Quick and utterly painless. Only thing I did was go in w/ Total Commander, find an .xml file, go to Properties then associated .xml files w/ the program's .exe =D Might have autoassociated if I opened up the file first but I had previously associated Word Mobile in some attempt to rig up the opening of the file =]
Think you're supposed to buy it but you have 14 days to tinker w/ it. I may see if I can just uninstall/reinstall and see if that clears it. Likely wont but may can find a reg setting for it =] I dont know how much it costs (didn't check that far lol) but I might be very likely to buy it if it doesnt cost very much. Why didn't you try the build-in file editor from the Total Commander?
for simple editing and save /save as.... OK ( as I use it for .txt .xml editing)

to change the Windows animation you can find it inside a file called shellres.dll open it with a reshacker or PExplorer
to change the Windows media lnk just go to the media folder in sys and check for the RGU that has the lnks adress or make a shortcut in your functional rom to the place you want it... the go to that folder... and rewrite the existent lnk oh!
and delete its extension.

Sorry but I'm a Newbie and trying to navigate the site.
Having great difficulty (its so large & packed full of goodies.
Already an issue.
Acquired a TyTn/Hermes (UK Orange SPV M3100) and find that the Microphone does not work during calls.
It will work when Recording Notes.
The headset works OK for calls and Notes.
Recently the Microphone started working fine for 5 mins with calls and then would not work.
Is this a common problem ?
Can it be fixed Software wise.
Is it better to use a MicroSD Card to flash a new ROM
Is it better to use the HTC ROM first.
What is the best (Stable) WM version WM6.0, 6.1 or 6.5?
And what about TouchFlo.
Can I get that installed as well ?

No, after I modify this file with Restorator and rebuild ROM I didn't see any changes, because you need to modify file S000 in folder of Shellres.XXXX.mui which, I think, is clone of Shellres.XXXX.mui... I can modify it ONLY with HEX editor, but it is very difficult, and more easy to edit file Shellres.XXXX.mui with resource editor.
Maybe somebody know tool to convert Shellres.XXXX.mui to S00* files?

Can you write exactly path to this file, because I tried to open some file called shellres.dll, but I didn't see any waiting animation in it to replace with my one...

I didn't understand you... RGU files only contain reg links, not files... File links, as I know, exist in initflashfiles.txt...

Not the folder man! the mui is already tranfomed into module... by that folder and its S000X files! search for the mui file! in your oem packages
When i get home i can provide you the path... but... wich app did you use to open it? open all the ress dlls maybe one of those is the good one. is in the oem folders.
Well so do the shortcut trick i told you then... or try editong the initflash files in lang XXX folder in your oem packages.

I tried various searches on the forum, followed various instructions like Long_end.lnk etc. Nothing worked. I don't want to install a 3rd party app. I would prefer a registry edit, or a cab file install which can help me remap the key to a specific program.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

These kind of .cabs usually do the same as editing the registry yourself.
Look for Dutty's Task Manager.

Create a shortcut to the .exe you want to run. Rename it to 'EndKeyLNK' and copy it and the extracted 'EndKey.exe' attached below to the windows folder. Now long pressing end key will launch the exe. I did not create this i found it though i cant remember who did create it.
I use it to launch xdashutdown with no problems

However, After doing that, when I press Long_end button, it tells me that the app cannot be run as it is unsigned or a component cannot be found. Weird.
How did you overcome that error with XDAShutdown app. I'm trying to use the Slide2Shutdown app.

i had no problem at all with xda shutdown. Check that the shortcut you created is renamed properly and that it indeed works by manually clicking on it.
It needs to be EndKeyLNK.lnk

Hey buddy,
If you're still interested - basically what you gotta do is copy the endkey.exe to the Windows folder, and then create a shortcut of the program, and rename it as endkeylnk.lnk and copy that to the Windows folder as well.
I just integrated all the steps and made a cab file (I also happen to have the exe file for Slide2Shutdown). So nothing needs to be done manually. Just install the cab, and voila ... long-press-end-key runs the Slide2Shutdown program.

Too many choices, buddy. I tried it and went away from it. I also have cabs for the BT toggle, Lock Device, Send Rec All, etc. So I just install the ones I need.

Great!! I was looking for something like this a while ago. Didn't found anything so I created my own work-around. I came up with this. Although the above solution is more simple, my solution has the advantage that you can add mortscript code in it.
Just copy the new exe over
Thanks to the contributions to this thread I was able to change the long press end key behavior...
Only I was so lazy that I didn't want to create a shortcut file and copy further files. So I only copied the original exe over the EndKey.exe using Total Commander.
And it worked immediately without soft-reset.
Given the old file is in ROM I suspect I just have to delete the copy to recover the previous one!

Follow the instructions in post number 5. to create a shortcut (incase you didn't know) you long press on a file and then copy and at the destination long press in empty space and then paste shortcut. You need to find the .exe or link that launches smart lock. Create a shortcut to it and rename this shortcut to EndKeyLNK and copy it and the file contained in the zip attached to post #5 into the windows directory

No just double click on it (with reso it works no idea for different file explorer) and you can change registry!

Just search Resco Explorer! (and resco registry if you need to modify the registry !
hmmm....i still cant click that file using resco file explorer2010....any solution?

I just use PHM Registry Editor, and click on the little lightning bolt, than click import, and locate the .reg file and click ok...

yes..all is work fine...but a little lagy maybe because i`m using this application onto my Samsung Omnia 2 device with HTC Sense.
anyway this version is faster than the other i`m used before

Oh great!! What is lagy, the loading of message?
I did everything per instruction, and after the final soft reset I couldnt get Sense back up..?? A bunch of my other icons weren't working as well... I'm on a Touch Pro 2, CDMA with Energy ROM's newest 6/11/10 build...

Hi, I would like to try this but in your installation instructions you mentioned Registration entries twice, but I olny found one reg file in Secure Box Activation Zip is this the correct procedure
1 Install Messaging Client
2 Where is the reg-file?
3 Copy MUI to Windows
4 Copy reg-file from Secure Box Activation Folder
I am not sure about step two could you make it a little clearer for me please

.reg is in first zip i already verify it! In all .zip there are a .reg!
So install the cab, apply the .reg for HTC Messaging client,
replace mui and then apply second registry (named activation of secure box)
to apply a .reg use resco explorer (with addon resco registry)

exactly... I disabled it through the Today Screen settings, applied all the settings, when all was done I went to reapply it and the box checks off, but when I close Today Screen settings, sense doesn't enable... Than when I go back into settings, it shows it still unchecked..??
