Been reading alot about WM2005 (codename "Magneto"), but also hear that Microsoft has forbidden journalist etc to post any info about it...sites were ordered to remove their content and preview pics.

Allright, I fixed computer for one person, and after I finish he offer me this device as salary for my job ($200!!!! I did't know real price!!!!! ), when I connect it to the Desktop computer, I understand I don't have a driver, then I tryed to connect it trough IR port of my laptop, and it says you need active sync 4.0, so I check the microsoft, none...
Works EXELENT, except for put something on(in) it I use SD card, and can not install applications.

I am assuming this came on your PDA, so it must have had some disks with it ??? whats on those disks?
Can you backup your rom to SD card via the bootloader, then upload to FTP so people can try this out.. maybe there is a way to get Activesync 3.8 working with it ??

Gora what device is this? HP? Toshiba? Q-tek? .....?? What?
It's only got 28Mb of RAM. It sounds like a smarthone rather than a PDA.

Can you show us more screenshots, and plz let us know what device you are using, it seams it's not a HIMALAYA, it has less Ram than we have but still let's us see the GOOOODIES :twisted:

It comes with the Wireless Modem application. I managed to let my notebook be connected to network wirelessly using XDA as a modem. I tested on Windows 98.

Hi,
I upgraded my device to the 1.72 beta version:
ROM: 1.72.00WWE
ROM DATE: 03/05/04
Radio version: 1.12.00
Protocol version: 1337.21
ExtROM version: 1.72.104
This worked without any problem. After that I wanted to install the MS Entertainment pack (Freecell, Minesweep etc), but i got the message:
"Microsoft Hearts/Minesweep/etc does not support the connected device type. Application manager will make th application available for installation when the supported device is connected."
I was connected via my cradle using Active Sync all the time. I tried disconnecting and connecting again, but that doesn't help.
Does anybody have a clue what to do? Attached are the install file (serial key 4653540603) and the error message.
Replies are much appreciated. Replies that contain a solution for this even more!

The BMP file of the message refuses to be attched. The text i wrote in my earlier post, is an eact copy of what it says, so I don't think it's a problem.

It looks like a really old version for windows CE, not for modern pocket pc devices,

I have used a Himalaya for 3 years and a Prophet for 2 years and I have been from wm2003 till the latest wm6.1 version with touchflo 2d, but I gave my prophet to my son and now I am using a qtek8500 (aka startrek). I have 2 questions:
1) What is the difference between the standard and the pro version on this device?
2) I flashed Erofich's pro V2 version (congratulations!) which looks very nice, but I can't synchronize with my Vista laptop. Can anyone give me advice and please don't tell me to switch to a XP pc as I don't have a XP PC.

Difference
The Standard ROM is optimized for smartphone controls, whereas the Professional ROM is made for touchscreen devices. If you use the Professional version on this phone, you have to use a dummy cursor with the D-pad.

Thank you for this answer. I know this trick for a long time, although it doesn't work. Did you try it yourself? For example if your device is not connected, you will not see a mobile device in the device manager!

If I can't get Linux running on the StarTrek myself, I will give my phone to one of the developers working on the Linux for phones project(s). I have 2 wall chargers, a car charger and a bunch of other accessories for my phone. The phone is like new.

I started working on some very, *very* rudimentary steps to support the phone's buttons, but I lost interest fairly quickly due to the limitations of working with the phone and my own inexperience with lower-level Linux stuff.
The patches I made for the keymaps are on GitHub.
If anyone else sees this thread and has the time/expertise to work on it some more, check out #htc-linux on irc.freenode.net.

You can try android from the guys at wing-linux, heres my post on the tornado section, use the files i used on my tornado and android "should" boot up since the strtk has the same omap850 cpu, follow the instructions i provided, good luck.

Android and Startrek
I've been working with the awesome guys over at wing-linux for the past few days, and we now have a working configuration for the Startrek. Expect to see it in their source tree sometime this week.
I'll start a new thread in this forum with details soon, but at the moment all I can offer is this bit of enticement:
Can anyone help me with a link, I want to download TomTom 7, preferably the latest version. I need this apps for my HTC HD2 Dutch version.
I already did download one version in the past , but this version does use Bluetooth only. I need a version that allowes the Phone speaker to work

The point is that I can Not be sure that I have the correct program (.Cab), I already did destroy 1 HD2 installation of Windows Mobile 6.5.
Furthermore, I could Not find any download in which the specs are telling me if it is a Bleutooth version or Not.
I was hoping for a direct link which leads me to the correct program, this instead of taking any risks again.

well...
I can't understand how you can brick a phone installing TomTom. As nothing is putted in registry or in windows folder...
This means that after each of my hardreset, I can launch tomtom without reinstalling it.
By the way, not all version of tomtom are supporting the bluetooth. As far as I know :
version 7.917.9186 has two choices, with or without bluetooth handling.
version 7.918.9193 supports bluetooth
so, try a search with those versions.
And sorry, I will not post direct links, because TomTom leads several checks on several forums to track down such links.

Thanks a lot, Searching on the release number will help me to determine that I have the correct version.
The Version with Bleutooth did overwrite the "BTtrayCE" in the Windows directory, this did cause Bleutooth to stop working.
Thats why I do Not want to take the risks of getting any other surprises from Tom Tom

The HTC HD2 gives a reply "this program is Not compatible with your device" (in my case in Dutch). When replying with an "OK" than it stops installing

tested on winmo 6.1 and 6.5 and it's ok...

I have now a working TT 7.9 installation, but installing the Maps is apparantly different than the older versions.
I do Not know which map is compatible with the ttn7.917.9186_qvga Version. (I could not find a WVGA version). At present TT replies at start up with the message that it can Not find the maps. As I did before, I did hack the "Meta" file, so I would expect it to work !

I did install ttn7.917.9186_qvga_blue, it seems to work fine now on the HD2.
But the next step installing the Maps is an other story.
The problem starts with : which map is compatable ?? (Western and central Europe)
And How to activate the Maps ?

I have version 7.918.9193 vga black with map western and central europe 2GB 860.3128 and it works just fine.
To activate the map it is another issue that I believe I cannot discuss here, if you know what I mean.
