Could anybody advice is there any way to save my XDA which went dead after an Wallaby upgrade with other PPC ROM using XDArit ? It's now got stuck with white screen when power reset, not booting, no response when connecting back to USB port to my PC. Anyway to reflash the correct Wallaby again ? Please help!!!
replacing the mainboard is the only solution.....
Oh my god, I just adopted this new baby 3 days ago from my friend, and now I've killed it. I feel so guilty about it. God bless it!!! Any other suggestions are deeply appreciated.

If you could find someone to help you replace the ROM (2 x Intel 128J3A)
I could give you a pair of ROM for US$ 30

Are you able to enter the bootloader by pressing power button and doing a soft reset?
Then you should be able to reflash your device via SD-Card....
HTH
Stefan
I tried hard reset also, it didn't help at all, only white screen comes up. I found I mis-used the ET180 bootloader instead of the 5.15 for 686, the bootloader is definitely gone.
Kitngan....is it hard to change the ROMs, like what it described in this forum, using the Microwave Oven to melt it ? I think this is just too risky.
Do you know how to change it ?
Thanks

Hi,
You could go to bootloader mode, i.e. hold power button+hold navigation button+soft reset. Then put it on cradle, run the upgrade again. Don't worry, your device is never dead.
Dead Big time
I have tried that no luck screen is blank nothing dead no boot loader paper weight......:~(

Word of advise: send it for repair and don't waste your time here. Situation like this cannot be handled by regular tools and methods. It requires low level pragramming tools and special software or even hardware replacement.
I suggest to contact appropriate service centre and get RMA from them.
That's what did.
do a search for ne1 get a 1.66 machine (I know the subject has ne1 in it). I just found it, followed its advice, and got my 1.66 machine to dowgrade to 1.52. If you want, I can zip up the files for the 1.52 downgrade I modified and send them to you.

so i sent it to repair. it was repaired under warranty...
interesting is, that they fixed it very quickly without even opening it.
there must be a way to do it... but how...
try to ask itsme from this forums...
maybe there is a way to boot it over eboot and upload new bootloader or talk to it with direct serial cable
good luck

Have you tried a hard reset?
Are you sure, you do not have an hardware problem? Normaly you enter the bootloader by pressing power button and making a soft reset. Maybe this switch is blockated by anything....

XDA won't start
Dear forum users,
I own a XDA I, which is sold as PCT 206 in Turkey. The original OS is ppc 2002
I also have the same problem on my XDA 1. I used up the battery to the end and after plugging the charger I got the bootloader screen.
At that time a had a cooked rom ppc 2003.
I tried to flash from SD to the original ppc 2002 but I still get the bootloader after soft and/or hard resetting.
Does somebody have an idea.
Best regards.
Sounds like the power switch may be stuck if you are entering bootloader from soft reset.
same trouble

by the way... i have no more access to setup options at start... any idea about how to fix this?
Is there a way to access to RAM using IR or USB without init windows CE thanks a lot
lambertoh, you have a different problem, you need to reflash your phone using sd card method again, it might be helpful to try a different memory card.

Hey guys and gals,
In desperate need of help. Tried to upgrade my himalaya with the Asia O2 XDA II WM 2003 SE Upgrade.
Upgrade was unsuccesful; upon turning on the XDA there are only two things on the screen; near the top, it says 'Serial", and near the bottom, "v 1.06".
The xda will not respond to hard resets nor soft resets. What can I do to recover from this disaster? When cradled, it will not connect via usb to activesync.
If this is not user servicable, does anyone know a good place in Melbourne, Australia to fix the himalaya?
Any help is appreciated!
When it's docked in the cradle, does SERIAL change to USB?
Try this:
Take out the memory card (if you have one) and the battery. Not sure why the memory card, but mine had problems with it in when I tried to upgrade.
Wait 30 mins or so for the battery backup to flatten/wipe everything (You loose everything on a ROM upgrade anyway)
then plug the battery back in and recradle it and simply try starting the flash again.
I've had similar problems, but this has always worked here and we have different devices, but I feel confident that the same solution may work.
had the same problem... my solution was docking it in the cradle (it does not show connected) and reinstall the ROM
Failed upgrade of XDAII
Hello I was in the process of updating my XDA rom and after 50% was copied to the device it dropped out.
Now when I power on the XDA it hangs on the O2 screen and my rom flash program cannot talk to it.
I have tried taking the battery out and leaving it for an hour but this has no effect.
Any ideas?
Installing rom from the SD card on boot
Is it possible to do this and if so how would I go about it?
If I cant get an OS on it its going to have to go away for repair for 3 weeks.
Also have you done a few upgrades on your XDA2 and on the same PC?
I had the same issue with my XDA2 as I was upgrading to 2003SE (before getting a 2i) and I could not get any further than the USB 1.01 screen.
I installed Activesync on a laptop, put the USB in and put my 2i in to complete the installation. Then, I put the 2 in and tried rerunning the upgrade...worked first time! I'd spent 6 hours on my PC trying to get it working.
Worth a try, certainly!
Cheers
Anthony

Hello everyone. I am new to this forum thing. I bought a 02 XDA 2 on Ebay last week. I tried to upgrade ROM to English from Chinese and now my screen is dead and no link to Microsoft ActivieSync.
Is my unit dead ??
Please help !!

I tried taking battery out for 1/2 hour and then the hard reset. Still nothing
Help !!!!
My wife is going to kill me because I just bought this XDA 2 and now it is dead ! (like me soon !)
disastrous xda upgrade
try consulting dr. stein or toenailed or xda jojo and zeroxtreme. these are the tech guys in southeast asia. they're very good!
Have you tried rebooting into Bootloader mode (hold down D pad in centre position, then power button and soft reset - all at the same time), then trying to rerun the upgrade?

When you started the upgrade did all seem to go as planned? Did you have the power cable plugged in whilst upgrading? Did you notice any strange messages when it started to upgrade, and how far roughly did it get before you started having problems?
Also, what was the software version before you upgraded? Any ideas?
Cheers
Anthony
Hi Anthony: Everything seem to be going ok and then..
the screen went blank. I did have the AC plugged in during the attempted ROM conversion from Chinese to English and I tried rebooting into bootloader mode and nothing.
Do you think my 02 XDA2 can be fixed ?
Thanks
downgrade XDAII failure
Pals ,
I also facing the same problems , now my XDA II is blanked and only
Serial and V1.06 written ,
can anyone in this forum help ? please eeee ?
thanks
if the screen shows you something like serial1.something you're still okay. do a couple of hard resets; then put the unit back on the cradle. as expected activesync will not recognize the device BUT double click the upgrade file again.
this happened to me when i went to wm2003se; forgot to do a soft reset and proceeded with the upgrade. what i did was uncradled the unit, did a hard reset (screen still showed serial1.06), cradled her back (nothing happens here) then doubled clicked on the upgrade file. it proceeded accordingly until the entire process was completed.
dont' fret, as long as something's still showing on your screen you're still a-ok.
Thanks Robs..
I will try...
Yeah, after hard-resetting the unit, it seems that it did not reset because the serial/usb letters & v1.07 at the bottom of the screen is still there. But if you drain the battery, then put it back in the cradle & restart the ROM upgrade, it will work. At least it did for me.
As I've also said but seems to have been ignored, try running the upgrade on a different PC...you may be surprised!
Cheers
Ant
thanks Anton ...

OK.. Let's not jump to conclusions.
Do this:
take out the battery and make sure to place it well back in, so all connectors are well placed. close the backcover.
Now, not yet use your cable, but try booting up your phone with the end-key and volume key.
If you get into HSPL, then connect to your pc.
But.. If this doesn't work; tell us,
did you install HSPL before flasing the rom?
And is your phone a T-mobile HD2 or not?
as above, what hd2 do you have? does it say t mobile on the front at the top?

How now to repair it?

only by send to HTC or t mobile.
don't tell them you flashed, just say you woke up and it wouldn't turn on.
sorry samsamuel, i know you're a really knowledged man around here, but do you really think they don't know what has bricked the phone?
DN41
heh, course they know, but burden of proof and all that.
Go look in the tmous section, loads of people have gotten them exchanged/fixed after flashing the wrong radio. it won't power on so they can't see that hspl is on there.
just like if you send one back with for example a 1.66 rom and 1.42.0000spl, (or for tmous, 2.13 rom and 2.08.0000 spl) it can only get like that from using hspl,,, but they still replace it cos its stock.
but if you admit it, however, then they can just laugh at you and charge you 150 dollars or whatever it is for a new mainboard.
(unless there's a htc tech reading this and thinking "oh, of course, d'oh",, in which case sorry for pointing it out, hehe)
How to reapair it?
pls help me all user.
thanks.
thanks samsamuel, you're right.
but for me, it belongs to the owner, if he does something like that or not.
you see, i'm a person, who nearly always want to do the right
and this is for me against the law...its just cheating..and thats something I (yeah only me) won't do...
it doesnt matter if others do so, but yeah..i won't
back2topic: theres no chance to repair it. the way to get a new one is described by samsamuel...if you'd read the posts carefully, you would have read it...
DN41
pls help me all user.
thansk.
please dont ask again. that wont help.
THERE IS NO CHANCE TO REPAIR IT!
THE ONLY WAY IS TO GIVE IT TO T-MOBILE OR HTC!
sorry, but you didnt read carefully. if you would had done so, you would know that a .51 radio bricks a tmous-device!
