WM2005 Upgrade: Why 2 files? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

I got the WM2005 upgrade files... but there are two files called nk.nbf, one from part1.rar and one from part2.rar
Do I only have to use the nk.nbf from the first part? what is the second part for?
Thanks
Patric

it's 1 file put in 2 files
it's a rar thing comes from back in the day when people wanted to
compress 1 big file to many small compressed files so they would fit disks
when you extract the file from any of the rar's it should automaticly
extract the part of the file located in the other part of the archive

Hi,
Winace will let you pack a file in .cab format.
Data
WinCe Cab Manager will let you edit/build cab files, its not free but you get to use it 15 times before your trial runs out.
You can use CE CAB Manager.
You have trial version.

Please advise.
It is part of the upgrade packages. These packages are usually supplied as EXE files, but they can be unpacked using Winzip or Winrar.

help!! how to install rar files in xda 2

Can someone teach me how to install rar files in my xda2? thanks
best should be to unpack the rar-files on your PC (with WinRAR), afterwards install the software (formerly in the rar-file)via Activesync.
If you have a cab-file in your former rar-file you might copy this directly on your PPC to install it directly from there (disadvantage on WM2003(SE)): will be installed into main memory, you have no choice to select your SD-Card when using this way)
thanks for the reply...btw, whats a cab file anyway? Im not really into this tech stuff
CAB files are similar to that of a ZIP/RAR file where you compress and store things into a single file. In the case of pocketpc, the CAB files are used as a SETUP.EXE , where is has all the necessary instructions and stuff to install the program. I guess.
thanks guys, You've been of great help. I was able to download winrar to open the rar files for installation.

How to get the NBH file from original shiped exe file?

Already got the answer. Just use WinRAR to extract. Thanks.
I use cabextract under Cygwin. Don't know if there's a better/easier way.

Extract wallpapers

Hello,
someone knows if it possible (and how) extract Wallpapers from the firmware downloaded with NaviFirm?
Thanks
I haven't explored the sync features in Zune yet - are you sure you can't get them through that??
Otherwise, .esco files can be opened like a normal zip. Look for the big .esco firmware file (around ~370MB) and extract the .img file from it. If you can read the contents of the .img file, I reckon you could get them...
THanks Tj,
