thx !
Hard resetting 2005 is different from 2003
press power + camera + record + small hole at the bottom all at once.
you get KIT, registry hive, storage prompts when you do that. Now release all these buttons and boot.
my solution
I had this problem, I solved it by downgrading my radio rom to version 1.08.
Had the same problem in radio 1.18, downgraded to 1.17, works fine now.
any other solutions?

How about going back to diamondROM
A major problem has developed with my qtek. All the programs have disappeared. When I press start I am greeted with a completely blank page.
All the shortcuts on the mian screen are invalid and I can't run anything.
The phone is still funtional and I can access my contacts and calendar information but I can't sync it because it looks as though activesync is missing.
I have tried a soft reset (battery out) but the problem persists
I even tried a hard reset using the power on soft key method but this didn't actually go into the hard reset screen. It looks as though the rom is corrupt - has anyone had an experience of this?
I am now getting device low on memory messages all the time but can't even attempt to remove anything as I can't access any programs - please help!!
Please read the other thread where you asked what buttons the softkeys were.
Hardresetting will probably work, or installing the latest rom from your distributer might also work, but try the hardreset first.
That is what I thought - altough hard reset does not work and all the programs are missing including activesync so I can't put a new rom on it either!
Hi,
This is my problem, I have a X7501 running Windows Mobile 6.5 Cooked by MichyPrima. The current Rom I have is this; "Athena_SPL1.2_R1_CE_B21500_MiChY"
The problem with this version is that every time I do a soft reset, all or more of the programs that I installed get deleted and I have to reinstalled them again.
So, I decided to upgrade my pda to this version
"Athena_SPL3.5_R1_CE_B21500_MiChY"
In order to this I just simple need to flash the above file in my x7501 and here is when the problem starts,
I run the "RaphaelCustomRUU" that comes with the rom, I follow all the prompts and when the instalation start (0%) the pda auto-restart, the connection get lost and the installer simple stops.
I tried to install another version "28205_1_04RVGA" but happens exactly the same, I tried to update my Radio, and the same.
It looks like something is making my Pda to restart and doesn't allow the installation to continue. I also follow the steps from 1 to 10 of this file "AP4_How_To_1.8" to try to fix any problems with my device and nothing.
Battery is 100%
antivirus is off
PDA Sync perfectly
PDA works properly except when soft reset
Does any one has any idea why the auto restart is happening???
Thanks in advance
sovius
Hi I also have a similar problem:
I was running SPL3.5 & AP4 on an Athena X7500 previously but making a hash of the new/old roms to install, i flashed AP Touch by PK.
I am now unable to get into windows mobile's Today screen as the customisation process which runs config & AP Touch.tsk keeps resetting the device. Each attempt i flash (i tried multiple ROMs, ranging from AP Touch again, AP3newSPL, and AP4.0 again) results in an error asking me to check my USB connection to the device. I suspect its because i do not have enablerapi anymore inside the device. I am unable to install enablerapi into the device since it keeps resetting! deleting files from the startup folder to try stopping the customisation / reset process also didn't quite work, neither does it allow me to delete the AP Touch.tsk file inside the device.
Can anyone help??
Well, after a lot of research and luck I have finally resolved my problem.
and here is how I did it.
As you know my device every time I try to flash it from the computer, didn't response and simple cut the connection. I tried to flash it from the SD card and nothing, so.
1) look for the rom you want to flash, in my case was "Athena_SPL3.5_R1_CE_B21500_MiChY". Note; you can go from SPL 1.2 to 3.5 but for some reason I couldn't go from 3.5 to 1.2 or earliest.
2) I put my Athena in bootloader mode, by pressing camera + Comm Manager + reset
3) the colored screen appears saying on the white area (serial). why, I'm assuming my device was waiting for a serial connection or something
4) and here is the luck, I connect my USB cable to my device and the word serial changed to USB.
5) I activated the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe with the "Athena_SPL3.5_R1_CE_B21500_MiChY" rom inside and follow the prompts
6) the installation for the first time in more than 6 months finally start and satisfactorily was completed as well.
done
I'm checking if everything is okay, but so far, everything cool,
Hope this is helpful to those who face the same problem.
cheers
Sovius
Hi ,sorry noone saw your post but it would have been obvious what your problem was.
There is a way to downgrade to SPL 1.2 and it is in the stickies.
Just for reference if anyone finds this thread, you should have gone into bootloader to check your SPL and then made sure your ROM matched this.
The mismatch was the problem that caused the endless reboot.
regards lakeman
Thanks for your replay.
but I'd like to mention, that I was not trying to downgrade my SPL, in fact I was trying to Upgrade from 1.2 to 3.5. But that is not the issue.
My problem was that no matter what installer I used, after follow all prompts, the installation process freezed at 0%. Everytime I connected my PDA, everything looks alright until the installation process started and nothing always 0%.
So the solution was to put my PDA in bootload mode and only when the coloured screen appears, only at this point I connect my USB and double click the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe with the desired OS. My PDA instantly recognized the connection and did the installation.
Cheers
This week I stalled an app which totally ****ed up my HD2. I don't remember the name of the app, but installing it resulted in the following:
-Whenever I press the home hardbutton my navipanel starts up and it is very hard to turn it off.
-Whenever I open an sms or email the screen automatically tilts to the landscape mode and doesn't tilt back.
-Whenever I open opera browser the screen automatically tilts to the landscape mode and doesn't tilt back.
-Start softbutton not working.
This is all quite annoying so I did a reset to factory settings. However this didn't solve the problem, so I am assuming that dreadfull app I installed did an override on the factory settings.
So the next thing I tried was installing the latest rom from the htc website, which should have been an easy thing. However it failed midway. Now the issue is that my computer doesn't not recognize my HD2 anymore when I connect it with the cable.
So the question is? What do I do now? I was hoping anyone could help me with this problem. Before when I was a student I had plenty of time to search the net/forums for a solution, but now I am working full time and I already spend most of my weekend trying to solve this issue. So please anyone help me out

i have to leave for work in 5 minutes so i won't be able to follow this up...but..
when you say factory reset, did everything else go back to what it was as you bought it?
1- can you get to bootloader (when booting up phone hold the "down volume"-- i think it is down, may be up. try it.)
2- if so you are good.
3- in bootloader flash hspl
4- flash new rom
I performed the factory reset multiple times and by 2 methods.
-setting->return to factory settings
-turning off the device-> press down the volume up/down buttons and press cancel call button
All settings were turned back to the original settings however the 2 problems (1: tilting screens and 2: unable to detect device on computer) did not disappear.
I tried to do what jsmccabe78 said, but my device just booted up like normal. No bootloader screen or anything.
I have anyone else has an idea.
Make a backup of your contact list.
And make a Hard reset!
In difficult situations, you can maybe use/do a "Task 29"
using the second option I described is a hard reset
try reflashing a stock ROM.

now what do you see when you boot your phone? have you tried deleting the settings for your phone on your computer for wmdc/activsync? 0have you tried uninstalling wmdc and reinstalling? try those first.
now, if your computer still does not recognize your phone your next option is to load another rom - whether it is a newer official rom or a customized one (your choice.) if you cannot connect your phone you will need to do this with bootloader.
if you can boot your phone, you can get into bootloader.
to get to bootloader:
turn phone off.
hold "volume down" button key.
turn phone on.
this will get you to bootloader. if this doesn't work, i am out of ideas. you need a new rom and you can flash from an storage card, but you need to have hspl first.
let me know.
now you can 1- flash hspl and 2- flash new rom
Sorry for the late response jsmccabe78. Thank you for your response. I got my phone into bootloader mode which enabled me to make a link to my computer. I ran the stock rom that I downloaded from the htc website and it installed succesfully.
Unfortunately this did not solve the problems I described in the OP.

Also my computer still doesn't not recognize my HD2 outside of bootloader mode. Reinstalling WMDC did not solve this issue.
I am still thinking these issues are software related and not hardware related. But reinstalling the stockrom should have fixed the issues if it was software related shoud it not?
So 2 questions remain;
1) How do I fix the issues in the OP
2) How do I get my computer to recognize my HD2 outside of bootloader
I hope anyone can help me solve this mystery.
Try it with no sd card in and see if you still have the problems? If you do :Take out your sd card and put it into your pc with card adaptor. Then delete the application data folder on your sd card. If that doesn't work make a back up of whatever stuff is on your sd card and then re-format it, then and copy back your apps and stuff. If you had a rough idea of what it was you installed try and leave that out when you copy your files back to sd. If you didnt have much on your sd card i would suggest to just wipe it totally and start again. Hopefully this should sort it, if not im out of ideas. Hope this helps if not soz but thought id try
I formatted my SD card, used the return-to-factory-settings function again and still the same issues. No connection to my computer and all the above issues... getting a bit desperate here...
Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem here?
Hello,
May I first apologize for my english : non-native speaker, some erratic grammar might happen.
Si un francophone passe ici, ce sera bien plus facile pour moi
I'm NOT skilled in android fix, so be patient and please forgive if i ask you more precision to understand what you say !
I own a Motorola E, 1st Gen, since feb.2015.
Legal warranty void six weeks ago...
No root, no boot, no custom rom.
Kitkat 4.4 (or maybe 4.4.2, can't remember)
It's an XT-1022
In the last weeks, a trouble appeared : i could neither listen or speak to my interlocutor, but by pluging in a wire headset or putting the phone on speaker (the one you shan't but still use while driving). The normal "phone pressed against the ear" did not worked anymore.
The first times, a simple reboot was all it needed to go back to normal.
Since a few days, reboot have no effect.
After an extend search on the internet, i found a solution for the Moto G (2nd gen) that appeared to work perfectly.
Going from Dalvik to ART, which i did friday (march 10th).
1st reboot, upgrading 150 apps => Several error messages stated that XXX app has stopped. Then "com.android.systemui" has stop, and i cannot validate the prompt : once I click "OK", it comes back before i could even read the next error message. I can't do anything with the phone. ==> Reboot by long hold on POWER
2nd reboot, upgrading 39 apps => Several messages again, com.android.systemui again ==> Reboot by long hold on POWER
3rd reboot, the same
4th reboot, upgrading 29 apps
5th reboot, the same
6th reboot, the same
7th reboot, upgrading 28 apps.
xxth reboot, the same ...
Yesterday, after a day's rest and no manipulation, count on upgrading application dropped to 27. By repetivly pressing "ok" and 'report" when avalaible, i somehow managed to get as far as parameters menu. Can't scoll in the microscopic time given between two prompt. However, -> The phone seems to receive calls (it ringed) but not to show the screen (caller ID, accepting the call, etc.) -> Afterward, the led flashed again.
The android buttons (back, home, active application list) doesn't show up.
And here i'm stuck !
What i tried :
A coffee. Did nothing to the phone, but improved my optimism
Shut it down, let it rest, power it
Fully charge it
Make it reboot by a long hold on power button while it was "upgrading 28 apps".
Pluging it to the computer, to see if it did anything (it didn't)
Making loud assumption on the engineer's mother honour and weight.
Go to recovery mode, and let it boot (if i understand well, it's just a normal boot for long inactivity)
Go to recovery mode, and wipe cache partition
Asking Motorola Tech Support => Factory reset. Haven't done it yet, as i've no data back-up and hope there is a less hansbringtheflammenwerfer method.
Tried to do this : android.stackexchange.com/questions/81411/moto-e-is-not-switching-on-after-changing-runtime-to-art?noredirect=1&lq=1" => I made it up to the 5th step ; but 6th don't work "Not recognized as a command or program" I tried the shell on E:\Programmes\AndroidSDK and E:\AndroidSDK\platform-tools. Neither works. Unfortunately, i don't know if USB debug is enabled so it might explain why it doesn't worked.
Boot into safemode, with and without the SDcard.
What should i do now ?
Thanks a lot,
Kaldui.
PS. I first posted in Motorola boards, no answer, then in Android Entousiasts, no answer, so i try another time with you ... hopefully ...

Hello Ankit_29
And thank you for answering !
All the data on the SDcard (photos, som apps data) is already copied unto my computer.
I cannot access any of the data on the internal memory (SMS/MMS etc.) and so cannot make any backup.
While in its error loop, USB connection doesn't work. And i cannot navigate into the phone due to the error prompts.
=> Is there another way ?
What do you call hard reset ? Is it the same as Factory reset that wipes everything aboard but Android itself ?
Again, thanks,
Kaldui
PS. For now, phone' charging, 32% battery

Yes, hard reset it the factory reset process which you do through recovery mode.
Enter fastboot mode > Highlight recovery option > from recovery select “wipe data factory reset”.
In addition choose “Wipe cache partition”; from main menu of recovery pick “advanced” and then select “wipe dalvick cache”. Done.
*but you will loose your internal storage data
Don't ask me why, don't ask me how ...
... Android automatically reverted to Dalvik.
My best guess is : there is an idiotproof security somewhere that revert automatically after to much fails (at least 20) on booting under the new runtime.
Maybe installing the motorola drivers on my computer before repetivly booting in normal and safe mode while the USB cable was plugged had a positive effect.
Maybe the little bug felt that i painfully resolved to fetch the electronic axe (aka hard reset) and flew away ...
It seems that no data was lost.
It's a true relief !
Even if i did not followed your last instruction, thank you very much for you commitement Ankit_29.
Would you ever stop by Paris, let me know, i owe you a drink
Kaldui.
PS. To the android engineer : i was mistaken, you weren't making overtime to pay the attorney for your divorce, yo mama is a fine women, she ain't this overweight, and her reputation is of a loving, caring and faithful person. I also own you a beer.
