Hi,my first post.Had XDAII just over a year but not done a lot with it as i have not had a proper PC till now.Read thread's & post's on this Forum from time to time, interesting but above my head a lot of time's!!!
I upgraded my ROM to the the o2's final ROM(.187)a short time ago on my sister's PC(P4 2.8GHZ,512MB RAM)and it took about 90min or just over.It worked Ok but responded a bit slow at time's and sometime's acted up after the upgrade. So i have now got my own computer(P4 3.2GHZ 64bit,1GIG Ram)& did the upgrade again,it only took 25min,seem's better but only used it a short time. Will the upgrade be OK even thou it only took 25min to do?

Hi, 73 view's and nobody know's?What time's have ROM upgrade's been done in?
BOB
if it boots to today then the rom was successfully flashed
why it took longer on the other system i dont know maybe it's a poor usb implementation maybe it was driver related
normal/healthy upgrade through usb takes about 20 minutes.
as rudegar just said, if you can boot it after upgrade, it went well.

Hi Cheer's,thank's for that info.I had previously looked through all 23 page's of this Sub Forum, did search's and looked through the Archive's to no avail. Was a bit miffed with upgrade only taking 25min(it could have been 20min),when o2 site say's it could take up to 90min to do upgrade, thank's again.

In the words of Homer DOH!!!!!!!!!!! I have killed me new MDA III
Last night I was trying to get the sync software to work and it didn’t so I have a look round the net for some upgrades, found one which sorted 50% of the problems so carried on looking.
Well I ended up downloading something which I though was a upgrade to the windows software but not (trouble is I now can’t find the site I got it from), I have killed it BIG time, Windows has gone and the only thing that come up on the screen is “Serial 2.05” had a look on the windows CD that came with it and it’s just a help file the O/S is not on there.
Now this is my first PDA and in 2 days I have managed to kill it, how do I get the O/S back on?
Your device is in the bootloader mod.
Download one of the ROM packages here and execute. This will load the ROM into the MDA.
hi
i killed mine as well but what you need to do is find the same rom that was on it and try upgrading it i did a few till it finally worked also there is a previous tread on hit. http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=12101&highlight=
good luck kevin
My wife has been waiting for her Star Trek since May (because the Norwegian importer couldn't get new mobos until recently), because the phone had been restarting at random. But this new mobo is worse! For two days it worked OK, but today it started locking up like crazy. First happened after a phone call, and when we got home, I discovered that turning it on made it lock up on the blue HTC/Qtek screen before the WM5 screen. I then had to remove the battery for a minute or so to make it start up again.
I had installed a couple of programs, so I wanted to wipe it clean to see if that was the problem. After 10-15 attempts I finally managed to do a full hard reset, and it lasted about five minutes of configuration, then it locked up again (on writing the owner's name). Does this sound like anything anybody here has seen, and is there any point in trying to upgrade/downgrade the ROM? This ROM was something with 5, not 4, as the May ROM. Thanks in advance!
Sounds like hardware issue. Sorry.
Yep, I'd say hardware. Especially if you're running the latest ROM. I'd contact HTC, it really should be a warrantied thing...
Thanks! It probably will be since they put in this mobo less than a week ago, and this was the second repair. In Norway there's a three strikes rule for repairs of stuff.
i installed the XDA Windows mobile 6 about 3-4 months ago on my SPV M3100,
everything worked fine untill just lately it started displaying just a plain white screen, not bricked because if i rapped on the power button a few times it would display everything normally?
problem is it has started doing it more and more often untill lately it decided to completely go white - i found out the phone still works just a blank screen? also some of the mounted buttons stopped working at times and would work othertimes?
ive fully charged it, turned it on and plugged it into my pc but im not sure what to do?
is it something to do with XDA, maybe some kind of virus or should i literally re-install the orange windows mobile 5 and send it back?
any help would be great! - im in a bit of a pickle here
thanks -Edd
wm6 spv m3100 white screen
hi there
if anyone is following this thread, i too upgraded first to 4.01 as good as gold, then to 4.30, Schaps ROM's. all fine but then the white screens started in 4.3, in the end about 10-14 days i had to remove the battery to boot the unit, and only thrn with PSU/USB plugged in, so power issue?
anyway i pushed thorugh to 4.31 alls currently well, keep you posted
cheers in all others senses great work all round
cheers pete
Yep, I've got this issue with my HTC Hermes but it only manifested itself after the upgrade to WM6?!
Can you ALL please tell us what bootloader you are running?
I followed the online instructions for getting Schaps WM6 ROM on board for my SPV. I shall dig them out.

Hi Folks
My Hermes/Tytn is an Orange M3100. Recently it has begun dropping calls, or rather, ignoring them. The caller could hear a ringing tone but the phone wouldn't switch on, show me an incomming call or anything. A short while later, usually after I'd switched it on (I mean, the screen, "off" is that it's on standby) I'd get the notification of a missed call. More often than not it would come through after I had made a call.
This reached a "point" on the weekend where I missed about 17 calls from the Agency to get work for me as I was the only one available
So. I upgraded as reccomended on here. Up to HardSPL 2.10, Radio version 1.41 and then upgraded to Schaps 4.22 WM6 Rom.
Now, I made sure that ActiveSync has connected and synchronised, and all my contacts and PIM info is in Outlook. However, A/S won't transmit the information to the PDA, even though it tells me it's synchronising.
The only way I have managed to get my PIM data/address book back onto the PDA was by running a custom SPB backup file to restore the calender, sms and phonebook.
This is where the fun starts. My PIM and Tasks then go "read only" merely by having a warning telling me I have no memory and to go and close other programs down. But there isn't anything else running!
Fine. Right. Ok. Obviously I've done something wrong. I did a hard reset this evening. It wiped all the data internally and reset it. I changed the details to match the username that was already stored in A/S and plugged it in.
It tells me "Connecting" and the green thing swirls around but doesn't actually do anything.
I have heard mention of the MTTY software, so I've got that here. But it won't allow me to connect on USB, only Com1, 2 or 3.
So I've a pretty useless phone at the moment. It's got none of my files on there, the satnav is rendered useless merely because I can't install the sod and all the other problems to go with it.
Short of screaming abuse at it and throwing it across the room I'm a bit stuffed. And I can't spend anymore time on it as I've got to be getting up for work at 4am (only finished tonight at 8pm ) for another full day
I've read the wiki, I've gone through the pages and pages and, er, pages of posts but I'm hitting a brick wall somewhere. I'm not as bright as you guys, but I get by.
TIA. Elwyn

The device is no longer worthwhile for me and have spoken to Mike Channon over it. If you can change that or help me change it I would be grateful
Mikechannon is the main man when it comes to the hardware side of things, if it was an early bootloader issue (related to bad NAND blocks) then thats what i was questioning your SPL version about.
If mike is confident it is the hardware problem then id take his word for it, the guy rocks
/me has to get his mikechannon ass kissing back into shape again hehe.

Not entirely sure what it is yet. If WM6 wrote to the 'wrong' part of the memory, would reflashing back to WM5 fix this?! Is there a way of repairing NAND issues?
MrVanx, I looked in the original thread that I posted in about this issue and followed you're link. Not sure whether I did or didn't at the time, but I can see there are instructions for downgrading the ROM from 6 to 5. However I am now in the situation that I can't use the USB cable as it causes it to white screen, but probably could if I did it via memory card....
white screen continued
hi there
sorry about lack of info i installed olipro 1.4 as per the instructions at the wiki i think. mine doesnt boot white, it turns white/fades to white when in use, or more commoinly i will press off after use, then later turn the unit on, and it will come white. first few times it si normal after 2nd on/off, then it stops completly requiring a hard boot, then that stops and it requires a battery off, then that stops. however it always seems to repsond when power connected, even if 100% charged or just off.
it feels to me like a power issue, still there in 4.31, wasnt there in 4.01, going back now to see if its hardware.
i will give as much info as you guys need, i got my phone from orange in may 2007

Hi everybody.
Anybody solved problem with white screen?
I have the same truble as EddTQ - White blank screen & also some of the mounted buttons stopped working rarely 2 week before white blank.
same problem here.
Maybe a radio problem?
Folks,
The problem you are describing sounds like the flex connector.

What happes is exactly the problem explained by alkizmo ...
thanks.
Hey guys, this is my first post on XDA as I'm usually lurking or keeping up with updates. I've searched many forums for an answer to my problem but it does not seem that anyone has had the same issue.
Anyway, lately I've run into the problem of an unresponsive touchscreen. I can't even unlock my phone! Two nights ago I made three consecutive calls and about ten minutes later I couldn't unlock my phone.
In order to correct this problem, I first took off the screen protector to no avail. I was running CM7, flashed a sense ROM, flashed my backup of the stock ROM, went back to stock with S-ON, pulled the battery a bunch of times, completely wiped, removed the SD card, Soft & hard reset at a VZW store. Nothing.
Took it with me to school today, powered it on and before it completely loaded I was able to unlock it by chance, skipped the setup and it was working fine all day. I was hella overjoyed... until it did it again tonight. D: I so want it to be OS issues rather than hardware because I don't want to wait two days to get a 'reconditioned' TB from VZW.
HALP! Please? Thanks, guys for even looking!
MP
P.S. I do apologize if I did not follow proper procedure to post or posted in the wrong subforum. S:
I'm frustrated and sitting around with an unrooted TB, ohnoes. (Although the screen looks sexy as hell without a screen protector.)

sounds like it could be a digitizer(hardware related) issue. on the plus side, you can pickup a new digitizer pretty cheap... downside though is you'd have to open up the phone to replace it. it's not that hard to do and there's videos online showing you how to.. you'd just have to be comfortable i suppose.
i'd just fix it rather then going the refurbished route considering that god know's what was wrong with it before it became "refurbished" not to mention you have no idea how much use the phone had been put through and how much life it has left.
Hey, guys, I know there are a lot of these issues with a lot, if not all, of the HTC smartphones, but I've only seen a few of these for the HTC Radar, and they all seem to give the same answers. Hopefully my explanation of the problem will help!
So, I got the phone thanksgiving weekend 2011, so I've had it for about a year. One day around the beginning of April this year, my phone randomly began a restarting loop, where it would gradually restart itself from a blank white screen over and over, then it went to the HTC screen over and over, and then periodically switched between the HTC screen and the black "Windows Phone" load screen over and over again. I tried taking off the battery cover and leaving it for a couple of minutes and then hours, but I put it back and it just kept rebooting. I was left without a phone for about two days.
On the second day, I put it on the charger and left it in my dorm while I was in class all day, and when I came back, it was rebooting still, but I noticed that it always made it to the "Windows Phone" logo loading screen and then restarted. After about 4 reboots, it went back to normal and I was able to use the phone. After the next couple of months, it stopped doing it in such a long period of time, but the battery usage went up almost 30-40% than what it used to be. Once in a while, it would reboot once, but then it would be back to normal.
This time, in late October, it started the reboot thing again, but this time, only going up to the HTC screen and looping that. I tried taking the battery cover off again and leaving it for hours, but same problem now. So I decided to leave it off for a day. By this time, I had my HTC Desire HD as backup, but it was unlocked, and at the time when I bought it, I didn't know anything about HSDPA numbers, so I could use my T-Mobile SIM, but no mobile network, since it's a Telus/AT&T phone.
I tried charging it, but this time, it lasted for a whole week. After rebooting over and over, it would last 3 hours, then stop because the battery would die out. So I just left it, and left it, and weeks went by, and my warranty had long since expired, so I couldn't go to HTC about this. I even called them to see what I could do, and they told me to do a Factory Reset, well... here is a list of the things I tried:
- IMAGE CRC: At first I didn't know what this was, and so I looked it up. After finding out what it was, I tried it, and I got two numbers: BL CRC-0xD19F79E1 and OS CRC-0x4CC706B. I looked those up on the internet and got nothing. I restarted the phone, and nothing happened at all. (If there was something else I was supposed to do here, please tell me!)
- Factory Reset: This was the LAST thing I wanted to do, but I had no choice and I tried it, hoping the error would be fixed. So I scrolled down to it, everything seemed to be normal, it gave me a warning, and I clicked it ... I was very suspicious of this, because as soon as I clicked "Factory Reset", it said "Reset complete. Press Volume Down to restart". I mean IMMEDIATELY after. Now, I KNOW that Factory Resets take much longer than an instant to actually have happened. But I restarted anyway. ... Nothing, still. I tried it several times after that, only to get the same result.
Those are the two options I tried, besides looking on the internet... if I can avoid buying a new Radar, I would like to, at all costs, because the next time I have a decent amount of money, I would like to save it for something else. Is there anything else I could try to resolve this issue, or at least gain more information on the problem?
Thank you all very much for reading my post!

May be it is a Hardware problem. Why you don't try to put HSPL and to cook custom rom ? I do this on mine few days ago and now the phone is more useful than before. I cooked HD2O ROM and till now working fine for me. When you change bootloader with HSPL may be it will work out if it is a Software problem. Also you need to change Radio Firmware other wise the device can not boot. When I am doing HSPL a few times phone just loop restarts and not start but after I do everything like it was in treads here and flash new radio the phone is working fine now. But may be there is a Hardware problem.

Thank you very much for responding! So just to be clear, how exactly do I go about flashing a ROM on the Radar, and a new radio? On Android phones, its much easier to root the device or simply place the ROM folder in there and make it work. I have no experience with doing this to a Radar, as I was previously led to believe that this was impossible. Should I just browse this forum?

Yes just browse this forum but only section about Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking. You will find DFT exclamation of how to install HSPL. In mine it was very easy because I not receive Country ID fail my phone was buy in Europe. If you receive Country ID error you need to proceed with goldcard it is explained there but first proceed without goldcard if it work it is very easy. Also when you proceed SPL2.05 it is not clear in the topic but you need to be in bootloader so you should start your phone with VolUp and VolDn keys pushed this is not explained in the topic and I waist a lot of time till figured out. After that just download one of the 7.8 ROMs here in Radar section and write it down. Also download new radio and use some RUU to put it on the phone before the ROM other wise the phone can not boot. Try and after that if you have problems write down here.
MY RADAR TURNED BACK ON! I don't know exactly what happened, but after a couple of reboots, the battery indicator flashed and then it rebooted twice until finally turning on the full amount.
Tonyco1 -- Thank you very much for staying with me and replying to my request! Although what you suggested is not needed for my booting issue, I'm going to try it anyway to see if I can actually boot 7.8! Thank you again.
