TomTom5 and Windows Mobile 2005 - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Is there someone that gets tomtom navigator 5 running with Windows Mobile 2005?
Link and file download didn´t enable downloading TomTom, but this wasn´t obviously. Therefore deleted the link and the downloadfile. Question is enough....

ActiveSync 4 Installation on ANY WINDOWS!

Hi There,
Wondering if somebody (XP users) can post content of its "\Program Files\ActiveSync\Drivers" folder here...
I have Win2k3 Enterprise Server and used "Windows 2000" compatible mode (btw, xp <sp2 users can try this cool workaround too) to install AS
So, my ActiveSync works fine (starts/ends) but the drivers supplied with it can't be installed in w2k3 showing error during installation of "WINDOWS-MOBILE BASED" device
So, for everybody having got message box with "Error installing on this machine". Just enable Windows compatibility mode and choose Win2k. After that you probably can sync via irda or BT but not USB
For me now, please somebody attach "WceRndis.inf" file from your system!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Thx!
On my W2K-system, AS 4 works fine. And here is the requestet file from my system.

Thanx Chris!!!
But I'm in need of this file from a person who runs Windows XP or 2003
I'm running Win2k3 and I switched Win2k compatible mode. So I tricked AS installer and AS installed as on Win2k machine. Everything is Ok but the INF file can't be used on Win2k3 because it is designed for Win2k
I AM RUNNING WIN XP PRO SP2 and WIN2K3 SP1 AND HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS WITH SYNCR NOR CONNECTING VIA USB2.0 IT TOOK ME A WHILE BUT I GOT IT WORKING.
those are the files you wanted:
hope it'll help

Hi Mate,
Its me again. Could you also please post these couple of files from XP & 2k3:
Code:
netrndis.inf
Usb_Rndis.ndi
These are somewhere in "INF" or "system32\drivers" folders.
Thank you in advance!

Magneto vs XP Pro Sp1

For some reason, My Dell will not upgrade to sp2. So I am stuck with an XP Pro Sp1 system - how do I get to SP2?
Is it possible to load Magneto with my current config (i.e. XP Pro sp1)?
Go to the windows update site to upgrade. It won't work if you're using a pirate copy of windows.
No Activesync 4 requires SP2.
ok. thanks - that must be why it won't upgrade.

Upgrade? You mean upgrading the ROM? This doesn't require ActiveSync 4, the upgrade program kills Activesync so it has RAW access to the device. But if you want to sync with a WM2005 device you need version 4.

Yep, that method works, but the problem is the RUU itself. Allthough you have the right drivers after this procedure, only a modified G3 RUU will be able to flash on Vista.
The traditional way of flashing using os.nb with the Upgrade.bat works though.
Works
The on above does work, but I tend to use ShellTool more often.

Can you explain about ShellTool?
edit: I found some info. If I understand correctly, ShellTool is the "traditional" way of flashing, integrated in the Upgrade.bat?
vmware
A virtual machine loaded with XP is the best option for flashing comfortably, if you (unfortunatelly poor you) have vista on your pc.
VMware makes it simple and fully functional.
ciao!
I'm happy to say , the vmware does work !
I tried VM+WIN2K on Vista . It works perfectly !
i agree with vmware, have not had a problem running vista home premium running vmware/xp pro & all flashing is A-OK!!
hi.
please give some information about this program ( vmware ).
and is it a free program?
thanks
I'm using a simplified version of vmware found elsewhere on internet .
I'm not sure whether I could put the link here or not ...

Of course they have a trial version, but I am not interested. I want that simplified version, coz 189 dollar is way too much only for upgrading. I better keep my old xp machine.
Are you guys sure you have tried all the methods ? I have a G4 prophet and the one from this link
http://www.anichillus.net/index.php?topic=21.0
does work on my laptop with vista! No problems at all !
Try this one at your own risk , lol ,

When i use vmware+xp under vista:
Do i have to install activesync under vmware for flashing?
Do i have to deactivate something in Mobile Device Center in Vista
so the phone is only recognized in xp and not in vista?

In Vmware menus , there's a 'removable device' option to allow you plug in usb devices . After you activate the function from the menu , your phone will be disconnected from Vista and recognized by the OS you installed in Vmware . Then , you can operate in the VM updating , synchronizing , everything as usual .
In addition to the previous advice, you must install ActiveSync under your VM-XP. You must look at it as a seperate computer, it needs to have all the software and drivers to perform.

Flashing ROMs with Vista is unreliable at the best of times. If you have access to XP, use it!
Hi
I don't have, what can i do?

Umm... I don't know...
try downloading vm ware, then install an XP operating system on that virtual image. You'll need over 1.8gb RAM, since you'll be running 2 OS's concurrently. Then install active sync and off you go!
The vmware download is free from their website.
(I did this to upgrade my Prophet - I was lucky enough to already have a VM+XP dvd from work - but I'm sure you'll be able to find an XP image if you look hard enough)

sure, dual boot, or a friend... or an old hard disk...
good job!
What is the main point of the error in Vista? is it a driver problem or is it caused by a bug in WMDC? Prophet can connect with WMDC on Vista and transfer data easily, so during the flashing procedure what is done by windows?
It just come ""not responding"" wtf!!!

Drivers... The RUUs for Prophet do not function fully with Vista - USB communication is handled differently.
Thank you for your reply..
So we will continue with xp for a while..
By the way, you are a moderator now! Conguratulations!
As for the VMware solution and USB ports - I didn't touch anything in the XP configuration, but active sync found my phone via the USB no problem, so I was able to upgrade simply by following the instructions here

[Q] Problems syncing wm6.5 with windows 7 64 Bit

I have had a look at other posts that relate to my problem but I couldnt find a fix that worked.
Im running a cooked ROM of 6.5 on my HTC Hermes and I cant seem to get it to sync with my windows 7 desktop.
I realy want to just beable to sync my calender so I can work with my appointments on the pc as well as my phone.
Does anyone have a fix that they know WORKS that I can try??
same problem here , i have htc mega
You have to use for syncing WMDC 6.1 and thats important Outlook 32 Bit.
MS recommends Office 32 Bit running on Windows 7 64 Bit
No problem here
i tried to download WMDC 6.1 but the validation tool doesnt want to work on my pc.
I am running a preoper copy of windows 7 but for some reason it comes up with this error.
"Code not available. THe validation code could not be obtained. this may be due to technical difficulties, or you mab be running an unsuppored operation system..."
I am using office 64bit ,anything I can try to make it work here ?
Look for an update for ActiveSync.

Doesn't work with Windows 7, you have to use WMDC
And it only works with Outlook 32 bit
