I just got a brand new xdaII due to hardware fault on old one i had for nine months. the colours on new one seem bit off, when watching videos with betaplayer the video seems really pixelated and colours dont appear properly, anyone else had this problem?? old xdaII was awesome for video, same version of betaplayer so thats not the problem, would appreciate any input.

Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a Wallaby (T-Mobile MDA) and I would like to know, how good is this device for e-book reading. Could you please share your experinces and tell me how it stands compared to eg. Nokia 9210, Palm Treo 600/650, etc.? Or whether you use it (daily approx. for one hour) and how 'pleasant' it is? Thanks in advance.
i've read many a book on both wallaby and himalaya
and they are just as good
wallaby is only 4K colours or something
and himalaya have more
but ebooks are black and white anyway
so res is all that matters and sure ms ebooks mean
that each page is somewhat small but
no biggy
havent tried the ones you compare with
though
Make sure you enable ClearType on your Wallaby for really nice looking anti-aliased fonts that are really nice on the eye to read. (also you can do this for your LCD display in Windows XP - not many people know about that!).
Rgds,
Neil.
Hello,
thanks for your answers. I've never owned PDA or anything similar before, so I just would like to ask:
1) whether my idea of reading an ebook on Wallaby during my way to school in bus (approx 1 hour a day) is real or whether the display of Wallaby is too small for something like that.
2) whether the backlight is with new ROMs from xda-developers adjustable (not only on/off) and if not, whether the backlight is okay for reading.
1 as i said i read many books on mine
2 there are programs which let you adjust it
mine is never at max a such program example is pocket plus
Hi cracks,
Just read somewhere in another thread that somebody was asking about the bad colors of WM6 and that it was much better under WM5.
But now it is even not possible with downgrading to WM5 to get the right settings back.
This is the same for me (S200 G4). All pictures and movies are looking bad just as you would have not enough colors anymore.
Any idea what it is or how to solve that?
Am I really the only one having this problem?
Is there perhaps a registry setting for adjusting that?
Thanks,
Boris
I would like to know the answer too
I also have the same problem. Anybody knows a solution?
My screen got fixed.
After resetting to WM5 I still had the problem. But after Hard resetting twice it's fixed. Boris03, Could you confirm this. I would like to upgrade again but not at the cost of busting my graphics, So I don't want to experiment again. Thanks
Problem back again
After a few minuts when I turned it on again, the problem was back. So I'm sorry for the wrong info, but it was fixed for a few miutes for sure.
are you guys talking about camera pictures & vidz ? if so, it's just that your device is overclocked while it shouldn't.... if not, describe your problem better so that someone can answer it... post screenshots... help yourself.
Screen shots
I am speaking of the windows screens actually. It is not noticable on all screens but ones with gradient shades show it and also where there are menu buttons. I took Lastnikita's advice and took screen shots.......... but on my PC the screens look perfect.
I'll try to explain what I see on my PPC. In terms of RGB, it looks like the blue has shifted from the rest of the colors a bit to the right. This is noticable in menu buttons where the left half looks pinkish while the blue overlaps the button boundary and sticks out the right. In gradient colors i.e. the contacts screen there is a blue column on the laft of the screen and a lot of pink around the middle. The effect looks like a low bitrate image. Maybe I can use a seperate camera to take a picture.
I have downgraded after using Touch X ROM and am now using 2.20.7.34 WWE ROM.
Thanks.
If you used a software screenshot, it would have taken an image of what was supposed to be shown. To me it sounds like a hardware fault rather than a driver related issue.
Yes. I just found this out and I was thinking the same thing. But the similarity of the problem looked strange. Maybe the problem is not the same either. Thanks.
Thanks for the advice. I just opened up my Neo and undid the ribon to the display then plugged the ribon back in. It's fixed. Thanks everybody.

Wow, very luckly, I have same problem. Can u guide in detail for me? What is the ribon? If have pics is better. Thanks!
I'd like to help. But are you willing to risk of opening up your PDA? I was desperate.
This will void your warranty.
I tried to write a description but it's too hard
The basic idea is to open up the back. 2 screws are visible under the battery cover the other two are under the Camera cover plate which is the only hard part to remove. It has catches on both sides near the bottom edges. If this is opened then you can see the other 2 screws. Once unscrewed you can take off the back panal. It also has some catches but they give in to a little pressure in the joining gap. I used my nails to liver it. The back has to be taken away carefully as the speaker is connected to this and you don't want to break the wire. Once this is open and you place the back cover beside the unit so the wire is not streached you can start working on the ribbon.
You'll see a copper ribbon just above the IR port connecting to the motherboard. It is locked with a clip. You can unlock the clip by ..................
I'm not sure you're interested anymore. . Let me know if you are.
It would be better with pictures or MSN maybe.
I don't know if this forum has a rule against giving out MSN IDs.
well, maybe I should bring my Neo to the store (still warranty more 6 months left ^-^). I only used PDA for more 1 month, so I don't know much about them. Concern to hardware maybe I can't do well as you ^-^.
Thank you very much for helping me!
I am from Vietnam, so my English is bad. I don't know the following is true or not? ^-^
God help you!
Bad colors since WM6
Hi all,
I cannot believe that this should be a cable problem. It was just since I was upgrading to WM6 and the downgrade is not solving the thing anymore.
It is just like you display a video or pictures with 16Mio Colors on a 16Color display. And before the same video and pictures looked brilliant.
On other thing is that e.g. the background pictures (theme) from Gullum are looking bad as well.
And also I can see the background colors flickering a little bit from time to time. Again this is since i upgraded the first time to WM6.
S200 G4, No overclocking.
Thanks,
Boris
The easy way to check out if its a cable problem is by taking screen shots. If they look good on the PC then chances are very high that it is a physical problem and just might be a cable problem. If they are the same on the PC as on the PPC then it obviously is not a similar problem to mine.
Thanks
I was watching some movies last night and I noticed that the blacks would sometimes get way too black making stuff almost impossible to see. The grey areas seemed kinda pixelated and it looked odd and didn't seem right. Ill try to post pics later. I was watching in 0% brightness and turning up the brightness helped a little bit.
I looked it up and found Digital trends stated the very same thing in their review although it seemed only one of their devices had this. So I'm wondering if it's just a defect with my device possibly. Other than that my V30 has been absolutely amazing, I'm loving it.
Anyone else noticing this on their V30?

Watch it. There's a few threads around here about this. A bridge dweller will reply to this staying that it's pretty much caused by the way you use your phone.
There's defects with these on some of the screens that people are encountering. Do you have any pics?
I'm thinking about picking one of these up. So am I to understand that it would look poor quality to watch a movie with the brightness set at 0%?
Geez louise ! You can't go by that !
Have you ripped the movie ? Is it Blu-Ray rip ? Constant or variable bitrate ? High Resolution ? Framerate ? 1080P 720i ? Is it on low class sd card ? Are you using standard stock player that has no codecs installed ? See there is million other things that can be wrong . Not your phone ! There is amateurs out there who rip movies and they don't know what they are doing and then you blame your new phone . Naaaah . Your phone is ok .

Sounds like the OLED display uniformity defect people have been experiencing. Some users notice it below 30%, others not until much lower brightness. Doesn't seem to affect all phones but it does affect a fair number of them. Not sure why the person above is acting as if this isn't a known problem.

Because there's a handful of them here that seem to pull whatever out of the sky to defend lg or something.

I have to agree, I was streaming recorded TV from my DVR, it isn't the best quality, it had the greatest amount of artifacts and problems I described. On higher quality video is was definitely less noticeable. Neflix HDR is doing something too, the blacks kinda turn orange. There are a lot of factors i need to take a look at.

Agreed. I mean, my V30 is arriving at UPS today and I'm excited, but I've been burned by LG on my last two phones so I will send it back immediately if I notice any issues and will be buying from Samsung with their $300 trade in deal. I can't deal with more LG defects and having them replaced multiple times haha I'm just done with exchanges of defective phones.
I understand you, I had my G2 replaced twice, my V10 3 times for boot loop and screen ghosting.
Hi,
I just recently bought the Tab S6 and I just realized that the screen, although it had great colors, has an awful pixel response time. But whats much more worse than that is the fact that every time i scroll a web page vertically, I get a screen wobble. What I mean by that is that the screen isn't scrolling at the same speed on both sides. One is always a little bit behind. Is that just for me and can anyone else test and report his results here?
Best regards!
It seems like under further investigation, that this is caused by the screens vertical synchronization. Or better the non existing virtual synchronization. When taking a slow motion video of the screen I can easily see the individual parts "scrolling" one after another.
Guess thats just bad programming to not enable vsync.
I just got s6 and I noticed it too.
Just logged in after a few years and necro'd this threat to say that the same thing is happening to the unit I just bought today. It's very noticeable. What I don't understand is how not even one of the 10 reviews I read on this tablet mention it. Who are the people who review these things? Absolutely ridiculous. I got mine for a good price and it's still great as a tablet for watching HDR movies which is what I bought it for. But honestly...this sort of thing should never exist on a flagship tablet.
