WM2k5 various issues (1.60a.00 WWE + 1.17.00) - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

I'm running:
ROM 1.60a.00 WWE (the BUZZ version)
Radio 1.17.00
on a QTEC 2020 (orange nl version) the M1000
It is very slow responding.
It starts very slow.
It drains battery extremely fast (the 2003 version gave me no empty battery during the day, the 2k5 version drained my battery in one night).
I can't get TomTom 3 installed.
Any suggestions?

Search the other threads: each issue you mention is noted elsewhere. The only answer is: "Welcome to the current state of WM2005 as repackaged for the HTC Himalaya series".

Strange.. I also have the SPVM1000 of Orange NL..
Got 1.60a running and Radio 1.18; and it doesn't drain the battery that fast. It lasts a couple of days (4 or 5)..
I just reflash'ed it to radio 1.17. Let's see what's the result, maybe it's the fault of the radio rom. I'll keep you posted if it drains that fast..

The phone speaker audio quality is to low!! (Comparing to WM2003 on Qtek 2020)

Why upgrade the (radio)Rom???

I did read about different (radio)rom versions. I just got my T-mobile Vario II two weeks ago. It has an older dutch rom version combined with an older radio rom. I don't mind losing the "dutch" and switch to an english rom but...I can't find anywhere what the improvements are when upgrading.
I don't have the feeling that the radio part is bad except for the 3g part which drains the battery combined with direct push. I couldn't find that upgrading radiorom improves either reception (which is fine right now for me) or battery life.
Any info about real improvements would be nice.
RadioROM 1.16.0.0 improves battery life!
Personally I find that I get better reception with the latest 1.2 Radio ROM than any other.
thanks guys, I upgrade the radio rom in any case.
How much "extra" battery life can I count on??
A new rom will make your device perform better and more responsive in general. I also had the old dutch T-mobile 1.18 rom, and upgraded to the south-african 1.35 rom, which is english. It performs around 10% faster, and the graphics are at least 60% faster. See the benchmarks: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1060794#post1060794
The dutch T-mobile ROM I have is 1.21.114.3 with radio 1.05.02.00. I will look into benchmarking my version...

WWE 2.19.707- Soft review

nothing new, as always.
Maybe the Live Messenger is newer them before.
A litle bit faster.
u means WLM works now? in the un-official ROM, it couldn't login at all.
hang on , why my unoffical WM6 version is 2.20.405.1. (pre-release version download from here)
Why it looks higher than yr version? Am I talking about the same model Athena?
i can confirm by myself. The windows live messenger is working on new ROM.
I see better battery life with Dopod U1000 WM6 compared to Dopod U1000 WM5.
WiFi 1 hour, GPRS 2 hours, 2 short phone calls (Sunday whew), some software installs, idle for the rest of the time (about 12 hours).
90% battery left.
A little quicker when doing things as well, like opening programs. Example: Opera takes 3 seconds compared to 5 seconds in WM5. This is from a soft reset.

WM6 speed compare with WM5

Do you guys think WM6 speed is slower than WM5? or just my imagination?
I have tried AKU 2.2 , 2.3, 3.2 , then WM6 pdamobiz V2, WM6 PDAVIET 4.0.0.6 touch version, I found that both wm6 version respond time are slow, is it just these 2 build, or generally , WM6 is slower?
I have to downgrade to 2.2 jester R1 again.... still find that it's a best version at the moment....
I am using now PDAVIET 4.0.0.0.6 I find it ok for my needs. Indeed the fastest for me was ASERG 3.3.13 - amazingly fast rom. Before that I used the official version from o2 - it was an AKU 2.0 and was awful.

same with me for both;
PDAVIET 4.0.0.0.6 &
ASERG 3.3.13
still ASERG 3.3.13 is incredibly faster and stable,
PDAVIET 4.0.0.0.6 much faster in my s200 than wm5.. but battery deployment much higher...

PDaviet 4.0.0.6 touch is the fastest Os ive tried although the program memmory is less since it is 8mb pagepool...........
it isn't really faster. wm6 has some improvements like faster loading of startmenu icons after a softreset or a faster windows directory access, but the rest of the speed is the same. opera doesn't render faster and coreplayer isn't able to use higher bitrates. and performance improvements which only can be recognized with benchmarking (for example sktools) aren't important. two or three point higher scores aren't subjective improvements.
wm6 is faster but it is only a little advantage over wm5.
Try Smart1 V3. It operates at lightspeed compared to official WM5 ROM. Specially when using Batterystatus. Mine is running constantly at 286Mhz without significant heating up.
oh, my official wm5 rom from o2 was SUCH A PAIN. they forced me to use these "illegal" unofficial roms. booting the device took 5 minutes and accessing the windows directory caused a 3 minutes long loading circle...
I'm a little bit confused
WM6 is so slow on my device and few bugs, but of course newer versions and functions in the core, sure it is better but slower
I'm using WM5 2.2 witch is old but fast and stable I try every newer version of pdaviet and Prophet Touch; as I have now adsl connection at my work but no time; in my tests they are the best but go back to wm5 2.2 always waiting the final wm6 version from microsoft and ROM makers here wish that it will be good
again wm6 is slower than wm5

Changes in WM6 AKU 0.7?

Hi guys I saw Jiggs and Chartreux's WM6 AKU 0.7 ROM update and I am wondering what are the benefits/disadvantages to upgrading to this ROM?
I have an Exec so I will be using Chartreux's if ever. I currently have the most recent O2 Official ROM.
I am trying to find a change list but I can't seem to find one. From browsing the forum this is what I have gathered:
Pros:
2x Faster Booting Time
Better battery life?
Faster and more Stable
Cons:
A2DP doesn't work (bummer!)
Could you guys give me your experience with the new ROM and a general idea of what improvements were made? (including benefits you get from upgrading to WM6 over WM5 -- I honestly am not sure what the benefits are)
The most pressing thing for me is stability and battery life, can I expect a boost in those areas? If not I will just wait for the ROM to be more finalized before I upgrade.
Thanks

MWg ATOM life

Hi.. I just bought an MWg ATOM life... the picture is not exactly the same, but I suppose I can use the O2 XDA Atom files to upgrade right??
PDAVIET_WM61_ROM_OS19209_PP6M
thanks for the help
Absolutely no. Atom Life is a 624 Mhz processor powered-PDA; Atom is a 416 MHz device. Atom Life is 3g Radio equipped....... Atom is only a GPRS device.
Avoid to flash Atom ROMs on Atom Life.......... you 'll risk a general freeze and make the device unusable.
On this room you can find several Atom Life WM 6.1 ROMs. Use only them for flashing your PDA.
Actually I bought a MWG Atom Life and am successfully running PDAViet's rom so

I bought Mwg Atom Life about a week. It works perfect. no hanging no fast battery drain. no memory leakage . It works perfectly. What is the improvement in PV onofficial rom?(more efficient battery or more free ram?or improve speed!!) Is it worth a try?
If it is only threated sms and task manager it's not worth a dime for me. I also have a O2 xda atom and upgraded it to wm6.1 and familiar about thease two features.
THX
thanks.. you just saved me from a loaner bricked device!!

PV ROM has WM 6.1 (unofficial) and so has SMS Threader......... a great improvement for who uses strongly SMS services............. Threader collects SMS and queues them by sending number..... it order by date and time... it works great

Thank you for your information.
I already knew what is threaded sms is. but for me it is worthless specially when there is dosens of freeware and software that do the same as threaded sms.
My main question is : If you have a mwg atom life whithout any problem is it worth the rist to update to a buggy unofficial rom or its just threaded sms and thats all?
no offence to the cooker but even best unofficial ROMs have big problems!!
Personnally I had freezing problems with the last WM6 official ROM from O2... Now I have upgraded to the last ROM version of Medkid and so far I'm perfectly happy, I don't have freeze problems anymore!
Also the Java midlets application is way better... I also like the HTC today screen, which you obviously don't have with the official ROM...
tnx for your answer.
while i have no proplem with freezing and don't need to run java midlets there is no diffrence between them? (speed? free ram)
htc home plugin can be downloaded(.cab file is everywhere)
