Is it me or is WAD really slow on the Atom? I am using the latest version of WAD (lite) and my device freezes on the "Please wait...loading" screen. The device does not recover and requires Soft reset.
Here is my specs:
ROM: 20060426B1WWE
Programs currently installed:
Besides the progs in the rom, Resco file explorer.
Can it be ROM issues or is it clashing with another program?
Keen to hear if anyone else is having this prob, or if their device is ok with WAD.
no no, bro.. its wisbar which is slow.. register on their forums and get the latest beta version.. its G....R....E....A....T....!!!
oh so it is just my device? I have downloaded the latest lite version from their website already.
oh and wisbar realy is great. I ran it on my previous device (magician) and it was awsome. Thats why Im trying to run it on the Atom with no luck.

thanks appu! WA works on the Atom now with no freezing issues. One problem I had though was it didnt have a close/ok button! I tried looking thru the settings of WA but could not find a solution.
I ended up removing WA because of this issue. Hopefully WA developers can make a close button on versions past Beta.
wat do u mean a close/ok button? :?
well for 1, when I enter onto a (any) program, the close/X button is not in the top right hand corner.
the only way to exit out of the prog is by tapping on the top task bar and selecting 'Desktop' from startmenu.
The other annoying bug is that when entered into WA settings, and lets say for instance you want to creat a new dock, you would select a background image form whatever file but there is no green tick on the bottom left hand side of the screen to select (nor a 'OK' on the top right).
I guess i need to tell all of this on Lackridge forum but Im wondering if any other Atom users are finding this problem?
mayb u need to get another theme.. am using xcilion's vista theme (nice work, bro ) google up for some wisbar themes, they shud have the ok/close buttons, the themes i hav do hav them for sure..
hmmm. I dont have a theme yet. This is how it looked after install
I guess a picture speaks a thousand words. Here is what I mean. I want to create new dock to load Mickesjo's absolutly fab WAD theme. The problem is there is no OK/tick on the screen which leaves me no option select.
I have tried reinstal/SR/HR with no luck.
Does any one's screen look similar to mine when you want to select images in WAD?
oops forgot to UL pic ... here it is...
thats no prob.. its how that 'custom theme' is.. i donno, havent mess with it.. mayb u can get ok buttons and stuff for it too.. (mayb tht makes it custom) i got my easy way out, ie. downloaded some themes and use them..
just exit wisbar, get a nice theme, and apply it.. 8)
thanks appu. getting a new theme seemed to do the trick. not sure why it did that. now to set up 'just another vista' 8)
I'm a little frustrated in trying to get the newest version of Spb Shell working smoothly. I have found the best ROM's are ones that are light with very little programs installed. But even with a lean fast ROM spb shell seems to run slow... meaning the animations and reaction speed when pressing buttons are delayed. I loaded spb on my 8525 and it woks beautifully ..I know its a QVGA screen but still i would think i could get similar results with a VGA screen along with a much faster processor. Just to try another experiment I loaded spb on my old HP 4700 and WOW it works so fast its scary! Anyone know why this is? How is it a 5 year old device performs so much faster that my new one? is it because of the missing graphics drivers in the Athena?
anyone have any good tweaks to make his shell work better?
maybe we should make a thread about tweaks for Spb Shell (did not see one specifically for this) if there enough interest?
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=260
It's enough to search in forums, my friend.
Pay attantion that VGA theme will take much more memory then QVGA.
Regarding the ROM :
1. amount of memory depends on SPL
2. preferable lite ROM + uncheck today items
Cheers.
P.S. search before you ask questions.
Thanks for the rply..but no help
I have searched the forums within the Athena section. The tweaks I'm looking for would be specifically for the Athena...maybe I'm missing something in the link you provided....
I have been reading everything i can find on here but nothing found has helped much.
I have found that keeping it running in portrait works smoother than in landscape.
Any other user experiences or ideas?
And I have a question :
Is SPB mobile shell working correctly with Real VGA ? 128
It didn't run anyway !
Is there a trick to solve this problem ?
Many thankx for your answsers...
I'm using irus' latest 0 mb pagepool rom. Spb mobile shell runs without lags. I'm using it in 192dpi as I'm really accustomed to using finger without stylus now. I prefer spb mobile shell with its original color and theme, so I had stopped using the diamond skin. If you like black and diamond skin, there is one which works for realVGA under a thread started by Sergiopi. The title is something like 'diamond interface for athena'. It's one of the stickies.
Hello eaglesteve
would like to have SPB Mobile Shell working in 128dpi mode with standard skin.
my version 2.1.2 comes up at the today screen with crappy icons and the SPB Menu does not start by pressing the button.
Any idea how to get taht work?

If you use 128dpi, you must install the diamond skin. I have a link in the sticky post started by Sergiopi. The name of the post isvsomething like Diamond interface for Athena. Try looking for it first. I'll give u the link if you still can't find it yourself.

Overview
From the creator of TouchFlo Detacher comes Mobile Shell 3 Toggler! This is a sister app (at least in spirit) to TFD.
MS3T allows you to quickly and easily switch between the classic Today screen and SPB Mobile Shell 3 by using shortcuts which can be assigned to hardware buttons, links in MS3 itself, etc.

CodePlex
Mobile Shell 3 Toggler is hosted on CodePlex: http://ms3t.codeplex.com/
Current features
MS3T adds the following links into the Mobile Shell folder in your Programs folder.
[Close Spb Mobile Shell] - Kill the MobileShell.exe process
[Hide Spb Mobile Shell] - Show the classic Today screen
[Show Spb Mobile Shell] - Show Mobile Shell 3
[Toggle Spb Mobile Shell] - Show Today if MS3 is visible; Show MS3 if Today is visible
[SmartToggle Spb Mobile Shell] - Similar to Toggle, but it will only toggle if you are already on the Now or Today screen. If you are in another app, it returns to the Now or Today screen. That's what makes it smart.
Limitations
- If you try to assign SmartToggle to the HTC Home button (using AE Button Plus, for example) on your HTC device, it will only work as a regular Toggle. The reason is that the home button always returns to the Today screen (or Now screen) BEFORE AE is able to tell SmartToggle to run. So, SmartToggle sees that you are currently on the Today screen and will toggle accordingly. The same problem will probably also exist with any other similar type of button on other manufacturer's devices.
- On MS3 version 3.5, MS3T may not work when combined with Second Today to give you MS3, TF3D, and Today simultaneously.
How it Works
I wanted to briefly explain how MS3T works for anybody else interested in extending this idea in other (hopefully free) apps.
Mobile Shell 3 has a window using the class SpbNow_MainWindow. This window is a part of the MobileShell.exe process. If you send a particular message to this window, it will tell Mobile Shell 3 to hide or show. This is how the links inside MS3 and the "Spb Home" link on the Today screen work. I imagine there are probably many other messages that may control some pretty cool things, but I haven't explored too deeply. I was only interested in the show/hide messages. I discovered this by using DotFred's Task Manager and analyzing all the window messages going to the various windows owned by MobileShell.exe. I noticed two non-standard messages whenever I showed or hid MS3. Then I sent those messages from my app and, voila! It worked! MS3T was born. Interesting side note: the window that all the MS3 graphics are drawn onto has the window class "Manila" just like TouchFlo. That probably would get confusing if you are running both at the same time. lol.
Action, Message, WPARAM, LPARAM:
Hide MS3, 0x82BC, 1, 0
Show MS3, 0x8258, 1, 0
Another message, 0xC005, seems to happen very regularly when using MS3. I think it might be "refresh screen" but I'm not sure. WPARAM and LPARAM are both 0 in this case.
AFTER UPGRADING MOBILE SHELL VERSION
If you upgrade Mobile Shell 3 to a newer version (for example, from 3.0.1 to 3.5), you should reinstall Mobile Shell 3 Toggler. The reason is that MS3T installs its shortcuts into the Mobile Shell 3 folder and the upgrade can mess them up.

Do you mean WM5? give it a try. I wasn't sure because I developed the app in Studio 2008 and targetted my device (WM6.1) but if it works, let me know and I'll update the top post.
How it works
Added an explanation of how MS3T works to the top post. I'm hoping this might inspire others to dig into MS3's window messages and find some other cool things we can do with it.
Work on WM 6.1 on a Palm Treo Pro?
Since the Palm Treo Pro (running WM 6.1) was made by HTC, I never know whether or not the software here on this site will work on it. Will it?
Palm Treo Pro
Of course it will!
Why do you think it shouldn't work?
The important thing is usually the OS, not the exact device (unless it's something specific like TouchFlo3D which you probably don't have...)
(I want a Treo Pro as well... )
Where do you go to assign the hardware key for this program?

Why would I think it would not work? I don't know why some of the software wants me to pick between QVGA or some other resolution. At times, the 320 x 320 is a problem, as the software is too big (or too small) for the screen.
I am soooooooo glad that I found Mobile Shell (and really like their version 3), as I moved from a Palm OS to WM---ycch! Like my Treo Pro (unlocked GSM on T-mobile network), so you can't have it Until they come out with the Palm Pre in an unlocked GSM with the WebOS. Yummmm...... Then we can talk!

MobileShell 3 Toggler relies on other apps (or the OS itself) to map its functions to keys. The first place to look is under Settings then Buttons. If you are using a newer HTC device, that's usually a pretty sparse menu. lol. I personally use AE Button Plus to remap buttons to functions. If you use AE, buy it! The author doesn't get enough monetary love for such a freaking awesome app.

There is no good reason why it shouldn't, but that doesn't mean anything. Download it and try it. If it doesn't work, uninstall it. lol
Smart Toggle Issue?
Thank you for this (and highlighting it to me from Spb forum). I find the toggle works exactly as designed on my Kaiser - but I am not sure that the smart toggle is correct for me.
It will not at all cycle between the 2 home screens. The behaviour I see is that whenever I press this Smart Toggle (assigned to a physical button) I am taken to the HTC Manilla Home: from within Manilla anywhere else, and also from anywhere in Spb Mobile Shell.
BTW - I am using the Kaiser ROM PDA Corner Xv3 and the latest Spb MS3 (3.0.1 Beta 1 (build 6456))
PS - have you considered a three-way toggler to cycle between Spb Home, Manilla Home and the Today screen? This would merge your Touch Flow Detacher and Mobile Shell Toggler efforts and seems a logical next step unless a problem.
Regards
First, toggling between the three would be cool, but I just don't have time to work on it. All the source code is available for both projects. If somebody implements this, just give me a little credit! I won't say "no" but I have no plans right now. As much eye candy as TouchFlo 3D was, it just wasn't that useful to me. I find MS3 incredibly useful, even if it's not quite as much eye candy as TouchFlo. So I'm pretty sure I'm not going to use TouchFlo anymore. But never say never!
The problem you are facing with Smart Toggle is likely because MS3T doesn't know to look for TouchFlo as the top window. It only looks for the "classic" Today screen. I can add a feature to consider the TouchFlo screen the "Today" screen. That should fix it.

I'm running wm6.1 / Arrupenthals rom latest V5.9 with SPB 3.0 . After installing I can toggle to Today screen but even though I have TF3D checked in today settings it will not load when it switches from spb to tf3d. It jsut hangs on the HTC icon and tf3d does not load. any ideas?
ps - if I stop spb (shut down- kill program) tf3d loads.

Many thanks for the MS3 toggler. I also use your TouchFLO Detacher.
I am also interested in the "feature to consider the TouchFlo screen as the "Today" screen".
Hope we can have this brilliant feature soon.
Thanks again.
okay, so i have downloaded the file, copied into my touch hd, and installed it. and.. whats next? it just says everything installed successfully but whats next? how do I set or toggle the screen? sorry for noob question.
Working great on my Kaiser with MS 3 beta 3, PP+. Smart Toggle great. If it does not have any issue in the next few days, I will contribute. That was my biggest issue with MS 3 (Although I liked that I could get to phone contacts from anywhere just doing the "L" swipe in MS 2 - actually only thing I used in MS2 -... but nothing is perfect), new "show today" widget is an advancement from SPB, but your solution is the best for hardware buttoned phones as the kaiser.
Working great. Made MS 3 perfect. Dropped you a beer, thanks.
one thing I loved about SPB Pocket + is the ability to do ALT-TAB like in desktop windows especially after you bind it to a hardware button
however I cannot find any other software that can do that so can anyone genius and generous here make us this kind of app? or is there already an app that do this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584415
check 24/12 on this thread, this is meant to be for the htc hd2, but i think it might work on other devices too.
what? where, which one? and I don't use sense...
look for this in the thread:
24/12 -09 Touch X longpress sendkey taskmanager showcase.cab - THIS is an alternative Taskmanager -Taskswitcher -Taskcloser (Alt+Tab function) to the longpress send key, this is the one im using (the original Touch X taskmanager(htc one) draw battery, Ram etc.) (if you installed Touch X taskmanager, uninstall it first) This is the Showcase application. you can exclude programs and much more follow this link to developers homepage. Cred to amarullz.

Attached is the actual pocket plus alt-tab program

no good I can't bind it to a button since it's not a registered program (just an exe).
Long tap on the EXE, select "Copy", then go to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs, open the menu and select "Paste shortcut".
OMG, thanks...!
happy new year everyone!
I would like to assign Alt-Tab to 'Long press BACK' button of HTC HD2 to simply switch between tasks.
It need for fast switch between two navigation software(Oziexplorer and TomTom) when I'm in a car.
Could somebody say me how to do it or maybe it is another way to do the same?
START->SETTINGS->(MENU)ALL SETTINGS->PERSONAL->BUTTONS
I'm only allowed to edit the Send Key(Hold). How do I add additional buttons like the long press back button?
what ironic is that the new WM7 won't even support multi tasking
search for greensoftware taskswitcher, it's like spb's alt-tab but faster. It's freeware
I couldn't find it, can you provide me the link? spb alt-tab is indeed slow.
I'd like to get a homescreen terminal widget if that's possible. Literally just a text box on the homescreen that I can run shell commands with.
With that said:
1. Is there such an app in existence already? If so please point it out to me. If not then...
2. Would there be any software/hardware limitations that would prevent me from developing one? I don't want to start trying to develop it and then find out that it was impossible from the start.
3. Does anyone think this is even a good idea? Just want some feedback on this.
Thanks in advance for the responses.

well i think that if you have terminal emulator on your device as an app then you can use a shortcut to the app and it will in turn open up with a tap and you will be right there to do all your commands as normal and being that it will have been the last app that was launched from home a simple back press will exit you out of it. I really dont see the need of having a terminal emulator widget since it will lead you to the same place to do the same thing with this method. choose applications and pick emulator of choice!

True enough, but I'm bored enough with life to try making a widget anyways. What I've thought of was making a 3x4 or 4x4 widget that could show feedback, and a text input field to put the commands into. Mainly just because I like widgets lol
