hi there, i'm a newbie here and a newbie also in using a pocket pc phone
i've been reading threads here that most of them have upgraded their wm2003 to wm2003se and they're all satisfied.
i'm planning to upgrade mine to wm2003se with the rom that most of the people used. i'm a bit confused with some of the discussions stuff esp the technical ones.
anybody can guide me to the process from backing up my rom to downloading the correct rom and upgrading it to wm2003se?

After spending some time reading through the articles in this forum, I am a little bewildered. Its obviously not as simple as running a program is it??
I love and use my m1000 all day, every day and it is vital to my life.
Please please please would someone, anyone, supply step by step instructions on how to safely upgrade as I've already had to have my m1000 replaced as I tried to upgrade my rom to the MMS version as supplied by Orange.
To this day, I am unable to install the rom update to use MMS, I have asked for help from Orange and the modaco website .. and unfortunately, no luck but a pointer to this glorious forum from the modaco website.

orange comes with 2003 and the newer version is 2003SE

Sorry, I meant to type .. WM2003 as opposed to WM2000 and WM2003SE to WM2000SE..

In another post on this site (with me in it) the files which reside in the extended rom after the upgrade were uploaded to this forum.
This has provided me with my mms and I am very much happier.
However, I am still after really really BASIC instruction and the files to upgrade the Operating System on the phone, from WM2003 to WM2003SE (or greater?)

2003SE is not official or even originally in English it's an
Chinese rom hand translated by people in this forum so i dont think we
can expect an official easy operator install for it
also you know that flashing your orange pda would void the warranty ?

Ok, I was asking to find out how difficult it would be -- my current contract with Orange officially runs out in September where I'll be upgrading my phone/pda anyway ..

I've recently upgraded my XDA2 to 1.72WWE (PPC2002) with the help of a friend.
I understand from some online forums that WM2003SE (or wm2005?) is possible on this device? Would anyone advice me on how to kick start that process?
Will it be sluggish on this baby?

hi guys this is my first post, i couldnt find a hello section so appologies if there is one.
what im after doing is upgrading my tmobile mda vario 2 from windows 5 to windows 6.
well i used the search but there is hundreds and hundreds of threads. so i started reading but there is that many different versions of wm6 and i dont know if they are all compatable with my device. etc etc so im looking for a spoon please to point me in the right direction of a guide and a good wm6 rom. (+ any issues with that version)
only thing i have done to my device is made it sim free using the all in one unlocker.
so any help would be greatley appreciated please. one last thing if i upgrade to wm6 will all my contacts and messages etc be wiped. thanks
1. Backup your contacts via Activesync - they WILL be lost
2. HArdSpl if you haven;t already
3. Change the Rom - basically try out a few.

Hey guys. I just bought a Hermes, switching from a Wizard. I just wanted to make sure i've got the facts straight. So to upgrade the ROM on my Hermes (which is currently a stock At&t WM5 8525 ROM) i need to first CID/Sim-Unlock the phone, flash a hardspl to it, and then i can flash any wm6 rom i want that is posted in the WM6 forum for the Hermes? Thanks, and sorry again for the post. One of the guides said if i was unsure about anything, i should ask.

Hello,
I'm a new member. I just bought my Mda vario 2. I saw the vario was the same as HTC Hermes, so i would like to upgrade my vario to this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=428597 rom.
My current rom is the original shipped WM5 and the device is already sim-unlocked i think. My pc has vista installed. Ive already read alot of threads on this forum, but i really dont know where to start and i really dont want to brick my new vario.
Also is that rom good or does anyone recommend an other rom thats more stable/faster/better looking?
P.s sorry for my bad english, im Dutch.
