Use SRS to see the entire today, SPB+ sometimes cuts some part of todya
I am using sbp Pocket Plus 2.0 and did not face such a problem, I am not aware about version 2.2!
Hi dNuOs,
I've got exactly the same problem - I've emails Spb about it, but no answer yet.
Also missing Storage Card
Current version: 2.2 build 1649

Only see main memory, So nothing about my Storage Card
Ah ha! So yes there are other people with this problem. I too had it and here's how I fixed it.
Firstly, enable the backup battery icon, move it too position 1, i.e. the first icon on the today screen.
Then use a registry editor and go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software
Spb Software House
Pocket Plus
Today Items
Pannels
00000
Modify the 'Action' string and change *backupbattery to *storagecard
Then tap&hold on the tab where you want the icon to appear, choose add/remove items and you will see Storage Card 1 Indicator, it can be enabled and will then show on the today screen. No problem.
I found that you can use this method to add multiple instances of the same indicators if you want.
NOTE that if you did not move the backupbattery icon to postion 1, then you will have to edit the string value at the appropriate position, it will be one the values 00000-00004

Thank you

Mate, you're just great!!! It works perfect, thanks for your support.
Just one question... how you managed to do this? I mean, how did you know the correct name was "*storagecard", just checked on a previous version of the software i guess...
thanks again
Heh heh, glad it's working for you guys.
I knew that the name would be storagecard, just from the formatting of the other names, I took a gamble I guess but I had a good idea it was correct.

This is not an error, it is a precise will of SPB.
When I wrote to them because of a problem of my version 2.1, they told me that on some machines this option created hard resets  , so they decided to move it out in some following release. And here we are.
Well I've not had any hard resets, and I wanted the feature, mostly for appearance sake, as three small icons did not fill the width of the screen but four do!
I can image senarios that might cause problems with this icon, but it's down to programming, if SPB refresh the states too frequently, it will cause a performance overhead, and with any additional cards it causes i/o to check capacity.
There's no setting to adjust the refresh interval, but as I said I've not had any problems, and I did not see any release notes that talked about the removal of a feature!
Cheers

I agree with you, but this is what PocketPlus product manager told me
Of course they are not willing to advertise a loss of functionality, at least until they find another solution...

I install spb pocket plus 2.2 on iPAQ H6365, I realized a few problems been encountered. I sent a text message to someone, but he could receive the same message for up to 5 times intermittently, I won't realized that till the party mention it.
I'm not sure if you'd also know the remedy for this sickness
The fix to this has been posted several times on other threads, but all you have to do is add an exclusion to the "close button" enhancement for tmail.exe.
tmail.exe is closing before it's getting chance to send the whole text properly and is sending it more than once.
You should also be careful with enabling the SD card monitoring feature - it appears to be this that is causing the xda2 to lock up/die with no option to fix but to hard reset/remove battery (not spb's fault, it happens with other today plugins too). Apparently it's the hardware - this is why spb removed the functionality.
You may think it's running ok, but please don't be using your xda for anything life critical (e.g. mapping out someone's brain operation). Mine was fine for two months before it started displaying this behaviour!
rgds,
Alex.
That little fix for restoring the SD card monitor was mine, and when I looked SPB are now claiming that it may cause lockups on ROM Version 1.60
I'm on 1.72 and with this fix and SPB 2.2 I've no problems. Something about this issue could be done by SPB, one solution would be to include a refresh timer, aka Battery Pack. The issue with lockups can occur when the request for capacity is sent to the expansion card. This could happen when there is i/o on the card and thereby cause a possible problem.
All that said, I've *never* (yet!) had a problem with SPB 2.2
Thanks
Howard

NinjaDonkey, thanks for the guide on this, I just did the "Exception" on tmail.exe, with spb pocket plus 2.2. But do not know yet if problem would persist, guess wouldn't be.
Do you know whether it's using lots of memory in the today plug-ins as we customize to display many programs on the today screen? You know those with Main, Connection, System, etc... Especially in the system, it's by default been customized to display quite a few of programs/system programs, would this be a factor to slow down or cause a hang on the ppc? If your answer yes, then i guess i am going to remove those of un-needed ones.
(Not sure if this is the correct forum tbh).
Anyone know of a utility which I could install on my M2K which will place a small icon at the bottom of the "Today" screen that will automatically flip the screen back and forth between Portrait and Landscape??
A work colleague who has the 02 version of the phone has just this utility - is it an 02 "special item"?
There are a number of today plug ins that help.
The best I have found which includes lots of other useful stuff is SPB Pocket Plus. Whilst it is commercial software it is well worth the asking price. You can download a trial version from Hangango or Pocketgear.com
Good luck

Spb Pocket Plus
I recently installed the trial version of spb Pocket Plus and am suitably impressed. One small problem though. If I try and change the settings (options) I can't exit. I can still move around and go to different settings screens but can't go back with the OK button or exit settings. Have to exit with a soft reset and even then won't reboot beyond the background screen (Qtek 9090 logo) without a further soft reset or two. Any similar experiences or better still ideas to sort ?
I have an O2 xda IIs and have the same screen freeze problems with Pocket Plus. Looking through the FAQ on the SPB web site, I came across a response that said in the XDAIIs there is a frreing problem that SPB put down to the way O2 implemented WM2003SE. Given that you are seeing the same problem on the Qtek 9090, leads me to believe that it may be an HTC/WM2003SE Phone Edition problem....
There is however another product that offers very similar functionality. Its Battery Pack Pro form Omega One and available at Handango. I have just sent Omega One a support question to see if they know of any issues with their software and the XDA IIs. If they say "no", I will uninstall Pocket Plus and try the trial of Battery Pack Pro to see if its more stable. Will post here with more info when I have it...
Since removing SPB Pocket Plus I've had a similar locking/no exit experience when playing around with backgrounds and wallpaper. Can't make it happen today though (not that I want it to !!!).
Battery Pack Pro
I haven't had the freezing problem yet on the MDA III.
However I had to move from Battery Pack Pro as when I installed it for some reason the calendar and contact button mapping went awry.
The issue was odd in that the buttons would work when you initially pushed them but you could not repeatedly press them to scroll through the different calendar/contact views. A feature which I use frequently.
My advice is to tread carefully and try it out carefully before buying. Good product though if it has no side effects.

Anyone here who stick and use WM2005 and no any plan of reverting it back to 2003se? i need your opinion why do you want stick with 2005 instead of se.
Becouse some of you dont have problems running 2005 some have and i have.
Well its my first ever post on here tho ive bben lurking for a year or so.ive done all the upgrades over the last year for the XDAII and i got to say the recent WM2005 O2 version found on here is perfect.
however like all new os'S there is alway going to be something that wont work correct.but this version of WM2005 is very good, for the first time ive got MSN,OUTLOOK EMAIL,O2 EMAIL,SMS,MMS all fully working without any glitches through my mobile phone isp O2-UK.
I had patiently waited for someone to crack the RAM problem and now they have id say go for it.
one tip put the HimaClearJumpCode file from a previous rom in the same directory b4 upgrading it saves having to configure it to in bootloader screen.basically just click your mouse and following the onscreen instructions!.

I am currently using Wm2003se2.2.0.7WWE I think it is, but since it was translated from Chinese, there are a few bits that don't look right, but other than that, it's fast, supports handsfree, and is the most stable 2003se ROM I have tried out of about 3 so far.
I am very tempted to try 2005, I even downloaded it yesterday in case I feel adventurous later.
I have AS4 running on my PC already, and although avantgo doesn't work, it seems much faster.
But since you are so happy with it on a UK network, I may well give it a try later on today after some meetings are out of the way, and I have some time to kill.
I installed WM5.0 a week ago and I already know that I won't be looking back to old OSes.
It's simply the best ever (I've been using Pocket PC since 2000) so I know what I'm talking about.
I can live with the few incompatibility problems I have encountered because I know they will be fixed soon by the talented people of XDA-Developers.com. They always do.
At first I installed WM5.0 to "test it" and to see what was all the "Buzz" about... (got that? hehehe)
But since that day, I noticed how quickly Buzz, Toe, JoJo and the gang fixes the "problems" so I more o less feel complete.
The overall performance of the PDA and the Phone is impresive!
The only thing I miss from previous versions is the Video Capture quality. This one simply sucks, but I'm confident that the gang will fix this soon!
P.S.- Again, I would like to thank Buzz, Toe, JoJo, mamiach and the rest of talented people for this marvelous release!
Best regards,
Rayan
OK, so far, I love it, but there are a couple of things that are proving to be a pain for me.
1) I can't install TomTom 3, need to find some GPS software that will work by the end of this week if I am going to keep 2005 on this device.
2) I don't know if my Socket BT GPS works because I have no GPS software to test it with.
Anyone got any suggestions for UK GOS software that works?
I'm sticking with WM2005
Since I installed it I have noticed the following benifits:
Performance is noticeably improved over any 2003/2003se roms I've run.
The anoying tendency to have both the BlueTooth Headset and the built-in speaker/microphone live during a call has been resolved.
My Frogpad BT keyboard is also natively supported. Overall a great experience!
The only problem I have encountered is the tendency of the MSN messenger piece to behave oddly. It'll sign on, get presence information for people, then when I try to start a conversation it will give me the conversation screen then take about 60 seconds while it claims it is 'connecting' In addition on occasion it will come back and state that a IM could not be delivered, but if I copy and paste it back in it works. It also has decided to put my e-mail attachments on the NAND partition rather than the SD partition.
I brought these issues up with my Microsoft TAM yesterday and he laughed.... Perhaps I should not have phrased it as 'Do you think it would be OK for me to open a ticket for my non-release beta copy of WM2005 that I got over the internet?'

OK, I love this, and I would really like to keep it, but, my Stowaway XT keyboard doesn't want to work either. I know it's only a driver issue, but it's still an issue for me.
I haven't even tried the VGA backpack yet :/
after all the xda is working for my every-day needs i will stay with buzzmobile 2005
I have used the wm2005, but the big thing that bothers me is that xbackup and spb pocketplus doesn't work. (battery indicator bar at the top, I love it! I first though it was some kind of bug, but now I never want any other battery level indicator.
For tomtom3 i'm using tomtom 4.40 now (works also with wm2005).
But there is nothing more worse then a sudden hard reset, and you can't restore any contacts because xbackup doesnt work.
Also I tried almost all of the roms here, and in my opinion the diamondrom 1.2 is the best complete and stable rom around here.
As long as xbackup isnt fixed on wm2005 i can't use it. Don't want to install all kinds of backup and restore programs. After a hard reset start xbackup and make a call.

What are you talking about?
Isn't persistant memory one of Windows Mobile 5.0 main features?
I have performed a couple of Hard Resets on purpose just to see if the whole system survives and let me tell you that it works flawlessly.
I can live without Sprite Backup for the time being!!!....
I successfully upgraded to WM2005 but am unable to get the hardreset to work (the key sequence I am using is power button + record button + camera button + soft reset hole, all at the same time). I have verified that each of these buttons works individually. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?
Also, when my xda is off, there is sometimes a pattern of faint black vertical lines on the screen which disappear when its turned on. I hadn't seen them before I upgraded to 2005.
Any help would be appreciated!
re WM2005
I found the hard reset combination quite tricky to do, took me a few tries to do it. Just hold the camera and record buttons very firmly, press the the power button and also stick the stylus in the reset hole. Keep holding the buttons for 3 seconds after you've felt the stylus nudge the reset button.
I'm using WM2005 and have found ActiveSync using GPRS to be a little less reliable than before. I have had to soft-reset 2x in the last 24hours to get GPRS working. It simply fails to connect when requested and says cannot find www.vodafone.net.nz (the APN for Vodafone NZ). When I reset it works beautifully.
Also it seems to me to be slightly slower than 2003SE. I don't know if it's the extra animations making it *appear* slower but it does feel less reponsive. Particularly opening messages and moving them. I was using 2003SE 2.06 and then 2.20-translated prior.
However, the extra ease of use that 2005 gives makes up for this by being more productive with the time I do spend on the device.
SPB Pocket Plus definitely does not work as I'd like it to and I miss the battery meter on the top bar, plus the multiple IE windows. The IE browser is much better on 2005 though and is quicker overall.
It works great with my Bluetrek G2 headset, no change in audio quality over 2003SE.
The Pocket MSN integration with Hotmail, MSN etc is amazing and very well done. If you use Hotmail and/or MSN Messenger a lot you'll love 2005.
I'm just doing some testing to see if Intellipad is losing my predictive text words. It seems like every time I soft-reset the words I manually added disappear
Intellidialer is a big loss too which I really miss. Can't wait for the 2005 port.
All in all, a good OS and major improvements, but yep a little buggy still. I'd recommend it if you don't mind soft resetting often and living with a few quirks, for the sake of improved useability and a better (in most places) interface.
My record + camera buttons don't work either in 2005 btw.
re WM2005
Forgot to mention -- RemotelyAnywhere doesn't work with Remote control either.
The ActiveX control that is designed for PocketPCs only works on PPC2002 or 2003, not 2005.
If you need to remotely control a PC or server then you will be stuck.

Been using Buz-an-Co mobile 2005 for a while now, absolutely no intention of removing at all. AND and by far the most important reason......I can give me mates with the XDA IIi the two fingers! ahh u may have wifi but u cant get 2005 working!! )
My only serious gripe is MSN messanger not working (fixed by using Agile messanger) and Tomtom 3's total refusal to install. (on that note i was able to start the install process and just before it crashes find the cab files in a temp directory and install them manually, it installed but when you run it, it comes up with "voice files not installed, blar blar" then the program runs for a second before crashing to desktop.)

Agile messenger works a treat on WM2005, and you can connect to MSN, AOL, ICQ etc...
Apparently WM2005 is smartphone compatible, so you could try TomTom mobile, I've heard it works, but the touch-screen doesn't (as it's built for phones). Haven't tried it myself though.
I will also not go back to 2003SE.
I'm using the full version since Saturday and I have no issues at all. All my buttons work. OK, once in a while the XDA freezes and I need a softreset, but that's more likely from the applications I installed which are maybe not 100% Magneto compatible. Also, I'm still trying to get the USB syncing to work. So far I sync via bluetooth.
I love that Contacts syncs the picture from Outlook on the PC. Much better than all the picture-caller ID software.
But really best of all: I don't have to be scared of hardresets anymore and I can use the XDAII until the battery is down.
I was thinking about buying the Mini or maybe the XDA IV when it comes out later this year. But I have decided to continue using my XDAII since it is just great with Magneto.
Cheers
Pat
I am interested to see why people think that they don't have to be scared of hard resets?
The Himalaya does *not* support persistant storage, unless you choose to save something to the flash rom, or SD card, you *will* lose it after a hard reset.
The OS does not give you the safety of the new features, that's still a hardware issue, so don't think you have persistant storage because the OS supports it.
WM2005
Hi,
I have installed WM2005 and fall back to WM2003SE twice.
1st: the chinese software CEstar cause the touch screen to hang (no respond) when I install it. Reinstall the WM2005 still face the same problem, so 1st fall back to WM2003SE.
2nd: After installing the WM2005, my Spectec SDIO wifi don't seem to be able to have the transmitter on. Able to see network available but cannot connect. Tried reinstall the driver but no result. Waiting for Spectec to reply regards to the driver. So 2nd fall back to WM2003SE.
Ric
but it does support a form of persistant storage as in permenent save / storage on the old roms
not really enough though.......
and if the persistant storage of newer devices save the data in flash then could it not be troublesome in the long run since flash have a limited times you can write on it before it goes belly up
much like a cd-rw or dvd-rw disc
When I try to run some programs, the only thing that happens is that the screen changes from landscape to portrait. Then NOTHING else happens. The program does not run and it does not show up in "Running Progams".
Here is an example program: PocketJig: http://www.lenagames.com/pj_files/pjig20.exe
I don't know if the program will not run in WM6 or if I have a REG problem.
Any ideas?
Many thanks.
Note: PocketJig is shareware and is shown here for example only. I you actually use the program, please register it.
Looked at the PocketJig site and it does not say it supports WM6 then again it does not say it does not I would recommend you contact the author of the software and inquire.
When I bought the program the author wrote to thank me. When I wrote to her about WM6 I never heard back from her.
The registery for that program calls up getrealdpi.exe before it calls up pjig.exe. It may be that pjig.exe is never actually called to run.
Most other programs do not have a call to getrealdpi.exe. That's why I think it may be a REG problem.
Try starting it up in portrait. I have a program that will not run at all if started while in lansdcape mode, but runs perfectly well if I'm in portrait mode when starting it.
Running in portrait MAY have been slightly better. At least the name of the program flashed onto the top of the screen for about 0.1 of a second and then shut down as usual.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Hi all,
Hope I'm posting this in the right place. If not, please move.
I have Remix_OS_for_PC_Android_M_64bit_B2016072603 installed as a virtual guest in Virtualbox 5.0.24_Ubuntu r1083 with Xubuntu-core 16.04 as the host machine. Using a Toshiba Satellite Pro L510. Took me four days to nut out how to get to this point, but installed and booting and stable now.
My issues:
1/ Location: When I try to run an app from Play Store it thinks I'm outside of Australia/New Zealand (the app I'm trying to run is specific to those regions). I'm in Australia, the app works fine on my phone (am logging in exactly the same way).
(* Update: I installed GPS Status and it tells me GPS is not switched on. Was hoping to then change the location with Fake GPS, which I also installed. It won't do anything with same message: GPS not enabled or similar.)
2/ Resolution: The screen defaults to portrait, as expected I suppose, but I have a 1366x768 monitor and it doesn't fit in the screen. Consequently, I have a scroll bar because as Virtualbox Guest Additions is not compatible with Remix OS at this point there is no mouse integration (I need to hit Right Control to use mouse in host and same to use in guest again). I need to press a bunch of keys to just scroll the screen up and get back to where I was going. :|
Other than that, all working great, Remix OS is great, thanks to the team that created it. The main reason I was wanting to use it is to use this one app on my computer (AFL Live) and plug my computer into the TV. I don't use my phone for anything other than that one app, SMS and the occasional call so I am by no means an Android junky. In fact, before this, I knew very little about it (but a lot about Linux/Ubuntu).
This install has been a quest, a learning curve, and these are my last two hurdles so I'm calling for help if it's out there. Trawled the net, tried some things, but have hit a brick wall with these two problems.
My first post so not sure of the protocol. If these two issues should be the subject of two separate threads, mods please advise and I will edit accordingly and create a new thread.
Tnx in advance.
(* Further update: Just having a read of this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/remix/remix-os/remix-os-installation-rooting-t3293769
Wondering if rooting the device would allow me to change any of these, in particularly, the location to Australia where it should be, or switch on GPS so my app can see where I actually am. I'm presuming it thinks I am in the Cocos Islands or somewhere else!)
(* And further update: The screen resolution was as easy as typing Alt+F1 to launch a terminal then 'wm size 1366x768'. That looked terrible, though, so changed it to 1048x768 (from memory) and it is good enough, though not perfect. I may be able to get closer with further tweaking. Now the last, and most important, hurdle to leap: How do I get Remix OS, and more specifically my AFL app, to know I'm in Australia. Frustration. It's taken about ten days, on and off, to get here and still not quite where I want to be, but hopefully my travails can help someone else along the way ...)
Gave up on it. If anyone comes up with a way of running Remix OS in Virtualbox and setting the location, please post. Guestadditions would probably fix it and maybe one day ROS will be compatible with it.
On the other hand, I did learn a lot more about Android than I cared to know, but am now thinking about buying my first ever Android tablet to do the job with a USB/HDMI adapter.
