PROJECT AND DISCUSSION THREAD(always check last page)
-----------------------------------------------
Okay, recently there has been a great demand for Android on HTC Touch2/Mega. This thread is being started from the discussion that took place on this thread
Few of the members are working very hard day and night to port android on touch2 device but lack of knowledge about kernel developing or building is causing failure. We urge to the developers with knowledge of porting android to other htc devices to help us making our dream come true of using android on our device.
---------------------------------
what dzo replied to one of our member on this forum is:
From the specs it looks like the touch 2 should run android quite well. I don't have time to help you much but it shouldn't be hard to get the 7x00a kernel running. You really need a kernel developer though.

we even made this offer to dzo but due to lack of his time he is unable to help us. =(
---------------------------------
This is the post which gave the idea to create an offer for a developer.
In this thread:
Our aim is to collect all the donation and meet the price of a Touch2 device
Our offer to the developer is a new Touch2 device so that he can test and port android into it or if he wants the donation in cash instead of a device would be fine too. =)
Rules to donate: those who are interested or want to help us to see this dream come true must enroll their name in this thread with the amount of donation first. Then after a developer agrees to accept this offer he must be donated directly from each of the user who'll enroll their names in this thread.
*rules or regulations can change on the other users interest.
---------------------------------
So far people wished to donate(but unfortunately many haven't donated yet which is slowing the project):
duchu - $5
vesipyks - $10
raghul - $10
htcshane19 - $7(£5)
[email protected] - $15
lavs - $5
kamileon1 - $25
kapq - $5
costa0212 - $12(10€)
ThePhotoGuy - $7(£5)
LtBlue - $10
msio7 - $7(£5)
DannyBiker - $7(£5) through google checkout
maciej.panecki - $25
sshlord - $13(10€)
Martijn D - $20 + $10
BBICS - $12(10€)
liamatburnblue - $23(£15)
hawsey - $10
alien_from_far - $23(20€)
xmonster - $10
czdjj - $10
Our fist aim is to collect $280 for a Touch2 device for the developer. But unfortunately we have only received $122 till now which is slowing the project down. =(

if you want to donate then first enroll your name here with the amount. we are currently looking for a developer who will agree to take up this project and this offer will be for him. which means you will have to donate the developer directly.
i'll up the ante...
hi all,
hey, i saw that my name is listed in the post as donating $10. i'll be willing to donate US$25 to the pool. just let me know when you get the developer and the paypal account sorted out. then i'll transfer the money over. cheers!
ps - i can't always check this thread too often because of work, so i need to sort out how to set up the email notification. but in case i can't figure it out - can someone email me at kamileon1 (at) live (dot) com (no spaces) when i need to transfer the money. tanx
i can donate 5 EUR via paypal too, EUR means € but not £
please correct it
5 euros...but with Google Checkout. Possible ?
EDIT :
If only we had more money now : I got my brand new HTC MEGA for 125 € in a phone shop because they thought there was no way to change the language of the the phone. There were some left but not much...
thank you again guys for showing the support.. we have at least crossed $100 now.. have to make $200 more.. and then hope for the best.. =)
In the original post, $300 are mentioned for the project. Is that the amount for the phone only or does it include the $100-200 for the developer ?
we must collect the money for the device first($300)
if the job is done as a reward we can collect another $100 to offer the developer..
The device has to be new ? Even so, like htcshane19 said in the other topic, I'm pretty sure we can find a better price than $300.
I can call the store where I bought it new for €150 to see if they have some left, but I doubt it...
in Bulgaria new HTC Mega costs $220 ...
Guys...I'm sorry but you can count my contribution out : I had the opportunity to buy an HTC Magic at the price of my HTC Mega. Therefore, I'm selling it to pay the Magic.
If I didn't need the money that much I would have offer you mine for 170 €, it's practically new (5 days old) but...
we need more donation guys..

Hope for your positive response. Thank you.

Same here I'm willing to donate 25$ to the pool. The more we will donate the faster we will see the result. It is better to donate 25$ instead buing new phone with android installed.

Cause right now i am having brand new 4 of 64 GB Asus transformer prime champage !!! just send me email [email protected] and it's yours tommorrow... no need to wait for amazon !!!
i would not buy from this man, as poor grammar skills are indicative of a bad sale
lol. spidey sense tingling.
what he says 'Cause right now i am having brand new 4 of 64 GB Asus transformer prime champage !!! just send me email [email protected] and it's yours tommorrow... no need to wait for amazon !!'
what we hear ' hi everyone, first time post in the forum but hey, its no problem, you'll all trust me and gladly part with your cash for some very expensive tech which will then probably not appear'
but what do i know. someone may pay up. fools and their money are soon parted.

Let me help you out new guy. Instead of offering a sale via email which is extremely unsafe why dont you range a pick up purchase at a nearby public location, like at McDonalds or shopping mall.
Holy crap you guys are quick to jump on this man. I'm in no way defending him or even claim to know him, but wow give the man a break!
He specifically stated on the thread itself that "if you live IN WESTMINSTER, CA". That in itself tells you that he's offering to sell this LOCALLY, hence offering his email so that anyone near him that's interested can contact him to meet him.
You are attacking the seller, why? It's true that buyers need to be careful who they buy their products from, but shouldn't a seller like the OP be careful as well? If he offers anything more than his email, wouldn't he be placing himself at risk?
Because of him offering the bare minimum information in order to arrange a meeting (at a public and safe location of course), I think this man is doing the right thing.
BTW, to the guy who responded about illiteracy. Westminster, CA has a HUGE Asian community, with a lot of them being ESL. I hope you're not so ignorant that you still assume everyone who lives in the US speaks English as their first language.
i am offering a contact information through email and we will meet in a public place, just have one left. thks for ur help tairen, you're the man
No problem
Some people here are quick to jump to conclusion, but they are good people. Next time try to give more details as to what you want to do and there won't be any misunderstandings!
Stick with eBay people, at least you can be covered by Paypal!

Looking for Advice on selling App through Google Play/Checkout

Hi All,
I'm looking to publish a pay for version of my free application. It's all ready to go and I foolishly thought I'd just need to set the price I wanted to sell the thing for and Google would sort out all the tax concerns etc. What a fool I was and after searching online I'm not the only one to have fallen into this quagmire.
I'm hoping that amoungst the wonderful people in these forums that there is a UK app developer who has been through this (what looks to be a) traumatic step and can give me some brief advice/guidance as to what I should be doing to do this properly.
An idea of questions I have are
1. Do I need to register a business before diving into this?
2. As a UK resident do I need to be gathering and paying the US (or other) buyers tax as well as my own VAT? If so, how?
3. What else don't I know about?
I realise that this advice should come from a trained professional accountant but as I don't know any (or think this current app is going to generate a revenue worthy of paying a professional) I'm hoping the developing community would be willing to share their experience. I'm happy to take this offline if need be, I'd just appreciate any pointers in the right direction.
(I have seen a few topics on this site vaguely around the same theme but not from a UK perspective, if there is a thread I should see then please direct me to that, but I have tried to find one already, honest!)
Thanks in advance,
Leighton.

I'm not sure what quagmire you refer to, google take fees and taxes out for you. Just specify the price of your app and upload it, they even automatically set right tax for you.
It was a year ago I set an account up but if I never registered as a business, don't think you have to.

This is not the impression that I get from their T's and C's. It explicitly says that google pass on the tax to you and it is tour responsibility to ensure this is dealt with correctly. Am I misinterpreting that or does it not apply to the UK? Does everyone else agree with Dave and I'm making something out of nothing?
Cheers,
Leighton.

Just to show you why I'm thinking that we do need to take notice of the tax. Here is a link to one of the latest notifications I had in the Google Play publisher site.
{linked removed due to newbie status/possible spam risk}
It explicity says, "Keep in mind that Google will continue to pass on the entire tax amount collected to the developer, and calculate the 30% transaction fee off the net price of the product. For example, if your tax inclusive price is 10GBP and your VAT is 20% (as set by the developer in the Google Merchant Center), then Google will first calculate your net price (8 GBP) and then apply a 30% transaction fee to that amount (2.4GBP fee). The developer would then receive 7.6GBP (includes tax collected)."
I'm pretty sure this is something I need to atleast understand properly before continuing.
Leighton.
My apologies, because I only have one for sale app and don't have to pay taxes (falls below minimum level of earning at which tax is applied) I knew google add the tax rate automatically but forgot that the developer pays it to tax office.
Here are the uk vat rules.
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/vat/start/register/when-to-register.htm
Basically you don't register to pay vat on your apps unless you earn £77,000 a year or more from them.
So if you are earning more than that you pay them the pounds per app sold that you owe as tax but not otherwise. In my case I don't have to pay vat.

That is great news to me, thanks Dave. My app will never come close to that kind of revenue. Hopefully one day this headache will return

Leighton.

"Hacking" Online Course offer - What do you think?

Hey guys and girls,
don't know if this is the right sub-forum but I hope this place is okay... I just saw this offer from pocket lint today...
https://deals.pocket-lint.com/sales...-white-hat-hacker-bundle&utm_term=scsf-135083
It is called "White Hat Hacker 2017 Bundle" and offers linux programming, android hacking and other stuff. The price is not fixed, some kind of supply and demand thing I guess...
Anyhow... Are any people here who know how to program and who think that this could be worth buying? I am undecided right now... it is not much money but on the other hand I dont wanna buy something useless
Thanks in advance.
Greetz Ric
Buy it and give everyone ????
Scam. There's nothing there you can't learn better with some hands on practice.
