I'm def getting one of 'em!

I couldn't go back to 1 measly gig now

With CardExport your Pocket PC serves as a card reader for your card. no need for that.

What if you want to transfer data between somene elses pc and you don't have the cradle???
I deal for backup on the go!

I use a usb/qtek cable. I allways carry it with my, for file transfer and charger porposes.
For those other cases I'm without cable, I have a 5 dolar pendisk much cheaper! I still get to keep my 1Gb super-cheap plain SDcard on my qtek

Neil - I got the SD ultra II 2 gig card - why would the 1 gig be the ultimate? :?

1gb... 2gb? naaaa go 4gb!

Hi,
I'm new to this sd card stuff, but is there really any point buying a really fast card for the BA?
What would be the difference in everyday use between and normal SD card and one thats rated x133(or even x150) in speed?
Would I get the 15-20meg a xfer rate through my BA?? or would i have to use a decicated Hi-Speed USB 2 card reader?
I'm looking to buy an SD card so that I use my BA for a Sat Nav system.
BTW you can pickup a 1GB Sandisk Ultra II card on ebay for about £30, would this be big enough for the maps for Sat Nav??
Thanks
satpal
:?

Re: card for sat-nav.
I am no expert, but from my experience, the faster the card the better, and there is plenty of discussion on this site regarding the size of cards. From others experience, it appears that as the card gets bigger, the stability is reduced, therefore, a higher speed card is needed.
Regarding what size is needed, I used a 128meg card for 2 years with tomtom, I now have a 256meg with plenty of spare storage. Given curent prices, I have just ordered a 1gig fast card. I will update if it falls over!!

2GB SD card
With the prices of larger cards dropping dramatically, I'm looking to upgrade my 1Gb card to 2Gb.
I'm assuming that it will work ok on this device??
Any thoughts or anyone already tried with success?

normally there may not be much of an issue, but surely for one that plugs into the USB port it is acheiving the fastest possible rate.
The PDA xfer rate might not be as fast as it can be via the cradle, but with the SD plugged into a USB slot I would imagine you could transfer stuff over quicker.

MiniSd ultra or not?

Is there really significant difference in peformance for Wizard, or should I save my money for other toys?
does the speed of the minisd card really matters?
Yes, the speed is very important espcially if you go up to 2GB.
I have 2 miniSD 2GB cards, one is regular no brand and the other is TOPRAM 120X.
With the latter it runs pretty well while in regular it is lagging and crawling.
If you consider using something like TomTom (which is space intensive), you might consider buying the 2GB miniSD.

I was under the rather strong impression that the device was the limiting factor and a fast memory card was pointless in a pda. Also, because its obviously Random Access Memory the size wouldn't matter - it doesn't flick through sequentially to find the data...
But I might be wrong.
I had a SanDisk miniSD card, and I upgraded to the TopRam 2gb card. I can tell a difference in speed when taking pictures and looking at pictures using the "pictures & videos" application.
also, my SanDisk had an issue where the 9100 wouldn't "see" it after it was re-inserted. I had to soft-reset to mount the card properly. My TopRam doesn't have this issue.

8525 only recognizing 1gb on 2gb MicroSD

I've searched for this topic and have only found pricing and best performance topics.
There seems to be many people successfully using the 2gb card. What can I do? I've tried reformating with programs like Pocket Mechanic and using the card reader. I've tried fat16 and fat32 using different cluster sizes.
The card works perfect, no recognizing problems, reads and writes fine but it only recognizes 1gb. Am I doing something wrong?
This is REALLY frustrating, will upgrading the rom to 2.06 fix this AT ALL? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP
Btw I have a SanDisk 2gb MicroSD (non ultra).

Did you buy it off of eBay?
If you did you need to make sure that it's a "real" Sandisk 2gb (search eBay for info). If it is, you might have lost the format and that is not easy to re-format unless you get the proper software tools. You will need to search the net for a fix. On the other hand you might have an expensive "1gb" card (hope not).
Good Luck!
I also bought a Sandisk 2GB from Ebay but it works perfectly fine. You probably need to format it.
when you format it on your pc ( I recommend you do this) make sure to format with fat32 and ALWAYS give the volume a name (something like "sd card") I had the same problem on my TyTN an using a volume name resolved it. Not sure why this works but it does.
Hi, all you need to do is search for a program call HP USB Disk Storage format tool. It will help you format any mem card. if you have a realy 2gb card it will formart it.
yeah, there has been a problem with fake cards being sold on ebay..
Yes
I agree with JamesHolden
I highly recommend you dont buy Sandisk cards off ebay especially the Ultra ones, a huge amount of them are fake. Just dont want u guys to get scammed. Problem is alot of them do not work with the 8525 in some way or another.

Anyone tried 16gb or 32gb microSD card yet ?

In your Hermes ?
chers
I am using CRC13.2, seems to like 8gb ok. Just want to check before I upgrade
I got a 16gb for Christmas, and it seems to be working fine. I am going to be loading a ton of music on it soon, and the only problem so far is that my SD card adaptor will not recognize the card, so all uploading has to be done via active sync.
I have a sandisk 16gb.
Flawless
The Hermes with a 3000mAh battery is a fine music player

you dont need adaptor if you have micro sd card reader in which adaptor is not required
I am using the built in card reader on my computer, and it does not have a micro SD card slot, only an SD card slot, so I have to use the adaptor that came with my 2gb micro SD card. I suspect that maybe since the 16gb is SDHC it might not be recognized by the normal SD reader?

Yeah not all SD adaptors will recognise MicroSDHC. Though I have picked up some really cheap ones that do!
Is there any news on the 32 GB MicroSD?
So... Hermes support 16gb? without crashing when it 3/4 full?
How about the transfer rate of 16 GB? Is 2 MB/Sec too slow? Will movie playback be ok? (320x240) Does the phone slow down when you fill the memory a lot? (I hade this problem on a previous cell)

Nearly all ones support SDHC today. But ask in the store if you are unshure. I bought myself one with microSD slot. That I can recomend.
Good idea.
So, if I've done this correctly, a movie that's 2 hours and 700 MB, should playback just fine (0.097 MB /s). Technically, you should be able to playback a DVD...

yep, with just data in mind you could play a 2h 30min 1080P movie of 17GB. But don't think the phone can manage it

Where did you get that 3000 mAh Battery?????

You can get the 3000mAh on ebay. I bought the Cameron Sino brand and it seems to work well. Only drawback to a 3000 is that it is double the size and weight of your stock battery, they have to send you a larger back plate for your phone because the stock backplate won't fit. I actually carry the stock battery and plate in my car. If I am out running around in my car and only need it for a few Min's / hours at a store at a time. I'll install the stock battery and just put it onto the car kit every time I get in the car which charges it.
Any news on the 32gb Micro SD Cards ?

Dudes out there i just bought a 8gb microsd i need to test it so is it posible if one of you could give me a move to test it out.

4GB microSDhc or 8GB microSDhc?

I'm planning to get a microSDhc card for my Jade (HTC Touch 3g).
Can you guys please advice will there is any difference in performance, response time and speed between 4GB microSDhc and 8GB microSDhc.
For the timebeing, I'm using mere 1GB micro SD card and its works great.
I know that both works with Jade, but how about the response time? I'm surely looking for bigger space, but not at the cost of speed and response time.
Thanks!!

I've been using 8GB since the beginning. When I compare the performance of my jade with a friend's who is using the "gift" micro SD card, which I presume is 1GB, I don't see a difference in speed or response time. With 8GB, you can afford to be lazy and not clean up the storage card for a while!

I'm planning to have my most of the programs/appilcations on the storage card, so was wondering about the response time.
On HTC site, they said they have tested 8GB, but didn't mention about the performance.
http://www.htc.com/in/faqs.aspx?p_id...0&id=85794&f=t
But, the salesman at the store said 8GB will make ur device slow, which I didn't want for more space. He was advicing for 4GB.
Have you installed programs/applications on the Storage card?
And is the reponse of those program on SD are marginally slower as compare to similiar application on device memory?
Even I'm looking to bigger space, it helps a lazy person like me to clean the storage after long long time, but at the cost of response time and stability.
All of my third party software are installed on the storage card. When I open most of them, the time taken is about the same as the default programs, give or take a second for the others. You shouldn't listen to sales people. I was told there were problems with 4GB SD.
nothing here
nothing here , message delete
I use a 6GB card, nothign wrong Wish mine was 8, but I can't justify buying a new one for an extra 2GB.
I'm not sure if it supports 16gb but I may buy one of those if it's available and if its compatible, which I have no idea lol
I'm using a cheapest 16 GB and don't see any deference at all comparing to 1GB card.
Correct me if i wrong, but i think you won't be able to notice the performance decrease unless you using a high-res/fast Digital camera?
Card touch 3g
Touch 3g with ROM 6.5, have been support 32GB microSD..!

[Q] OTG - isn't external usb flash drive faster than micro sd class 10/extreme?

Hi,
It seems a lot of people go for micro sd cards (such as class 10) for additional external memory with otg adapters
but I thought usb 3 is much faster and cheaper?
can someone clear this up as I could not find the answer .
anyone know which offers the best speed for saving pictures onto it and playing a couple of emulator games from?
The problem is that the samsung is using usb 2.0 which means the maximum speed that you will achive is about 25-28(MB/s <-correct me if I ma not). If you writing using computer that has a usb3 you will see the avantage of faster speed otherwise there is not. Futhermore good qulity pen drive are faster than a sd-cards class 10 becasue it this type of card only provide 10mbps speed for writing which is good for most part unless you playing 4k video. I would suggest going for UHS 3 type of cards which will saturate usb2.0. that is 30MB/s. Any faster sd cards will be cap by the usb controler. Futhermore memory cards are smaller, ligher and more reliable as a storage because you can easly damage flash drive whereas the otg will cost you couple of bugs.

Thank you for clearing that up, I could not find the complete answer in one single post so hopefully that will help others. You have a good point about safer storage as well.
A very cost effective 128GB UHS 3 card is something like the Transcend 128GB Ultimate SDXC UHS Ultra High Speed Class 3 Memory Card (SD and not micro SD
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transcend-1...S-3+Flash+Memory+Card+95/60+MB/s+(TS128GSDU3)
The Micro SD versions are a bit too pricey so I might opt for a UHS1 instead
I am leaning towards micro SD in case I upgrade to a compatible phone, thus not need an otg adapter (note 5 or even the lg g4 pro which looks very promising indeed)
In light of what you said I am not considering the usb flash drive anymore so thank you for help and clearing things up
Many Thanks :good:
PS So With the next generation usb C, we get faster transfers with the next generation of memory cards or even existing ones we buy today? I'm wondering if it is worth holding on before buying.
Everyone buy this you be good
