In your Hermes ?

I am using CRC13.2, seems to like 8gb ok. Just want to check before I upgrade
I got a 16gb for Christmas, and it seems to be working fine. I am going to be loading a ton of music on it soon, and the only problem so far is that my SD card adaptor will not recognize the card, so all uploading has to be done via active sync.
I have a sandisk 16gb.

you dont need adaptor if you have micro sd card reader in which adaptor is not required
I am using the built in card reader on my computer, and it does not have a micro SD card slot, only an SD card slot, so I have to use the adaptor that came with my 2gb micro SD card. I suspect that maybe since the 16gb is SDHC it might not be recognized by the normal SD reader?

Yeah not all SD adaptors will recognise MicroSDHC. Though I have picked up some really cheap ones that do!
Is there any news on the 32 GB MicroSD?
So... Hermes support 16gb? without crashing when it 3/4 full?
How about the transfer rate of 16 GB? Is 2 MB/Sec too slow? Will movie playback be ok? (320x240) Does the phone slow down when you fill the memory a lot? (I hade this problem on a previous cell)

Nearly all ones support SDHC today. But ask in the store if you are unshure. I bought myself one with microSD slot. That I can recomend.
Good idea.
So, if I've done this correctly, a movie that's 2 hours and 700 MB, should playback just fine (0.097 MB /s). Technically, you should be able to playback a DVD...

You can get the 3000mAh on ebay. I bought the Cameron Sino brand and it seems to work well. Only drawback to a 3000 is that it is double the size and weight of your stock battery, they have to send you a larger back plate for your phone because the stock backplate won't fit. I actually carry the stock battery and plate in my car. If I am out running around in my car and only need it for a few Min's / hours at a store at a time. I'll install the stock battery and just put it onto the car kit every time I get in the car which charges it.
Any news on the 32gb Micro SD Cards ?

With CardExport your Pocket PC serves as a card reader for your card. no need for that.
What if you want to transfer data between somene elses pc and you don't have the cradle???
I deal for backup on the go!
I use a usb/qtek cable. I allways carry it with my, for file transfer and charger porposes.
For those other cases I'm without cable, I have a 5 dolar pendisk much cheaper! I still get to keep my 1Gb super-cheap plain SDcard on my qtek

Hi,
I'm new to this sd card stuff, but is there really any point buying a really fast card for the BA?
What would be the difference in everyday use between and normal SD card and one thats rated x133(or even x150) in speed?
Would I get the 15-20meg a xfer rate through my BA?? or would i have to use a decicated Hi-Speed USB 2 card reader?
I'm looking to buy an SD card so that I use my BA for a Sat Nav system.
BTW you can pickup a 1GB Sandisk Ultra II card on ebay for about £30, would this be big enough for the maps for Sat Nav??
Thanks
satpal
:?
Re: card for sat-nav.
I am no expert, but from my experience, the faster the card the better, and there is plenty of discussion on this site regarding the size of cards. From others experience, it appears that as the card gets bigger, the stability is reduced, therefore, a higher speed card is needed.
Regarding what size is needed, I used a 128meg card for 2 years with tomtom, I now have a 256meg with plenty of spare storage. Given curent prices, I have just ordered a 1gig fast card. I will update if it falls over!!
2GB SD card
With the prices of larger cards dropping dramatically, I'm looking to upgrade my 1Gb card to 2Gb.
I'm assuming that it will work ok on this device??
Any thoughts or anyone already tried with success?
normally there may not be much of an issue, but surely for one that plugs into the USB port it is acheiving the fastest possible rate.
The PDA xfer rate might not be as fast as it can be via the cradle, but with the SD plugged into a USB slot I would imagine you could transfer stuff over quicker.
Anyone using the 16gb sd card? Are they worth it? Any problems with crashing? Amazon are selling Sandisk ones for £39.24, seems to be a good buy
I am using it a while (sandisk 16gb micro SDHC) but almost full (navigation maps, movies and music)
No problems with crashing.
I'm not using a 16gb but I'm using an 8gb card. It has to be the best thing I've bought for my Touch PRO yet. I have (most of) my music, (a few) movies, and TomTom all on one card.
A 16gb card would be a great investment though.
Just been looking at them myself, my only concern is the class they are, i heard and correct me if i am wrong you need a class 4-6 card for music and so on, due to the speed it runs at, and most 16gb ones i found are class 2.
I'm using Kingston 16GB Class 2. No problem.
Hi,
I also have a 8GB card but thinking of buying a 16gb card...my question is the apps I have installed.
Im not sure which apps I have installed on my card and which apps are stored on the HD's internal memory.
Would i simply copy the contents from the 8GB card to the 16GB card?

The 8gb that comes with the HD is only class 2.
I have a SanDisk 16gb class 2 and it works fine for all videos I encode with HD Encoder, and MP3 up to 320kbps that I have used.
Yes, it's a little slower copying files onto, but no big deal really.
i would really love to know what does the classes mean? will i see lot of improvements while going higher?
The classes of SD card are the minimum write speeds that the card will maintain. Basically comes down to 2MB/s, 4MB/s and 6MB/s. There are some details specified for how to measure this, but they aren't of much concern to the user.
The maximum read speed of the card may be different (likely). Both read and write speed will also depend on the device.
In short, you will notice the faster write speeds if you transfer music or films. I haven't noticed any problems when watching videos using my class 2 card, but can see the difference when copying from my PC to the cards.
thanks a lot for the information Taxythingy
Is there a massive difference between class 6 and class 2 while using the Touch HD? Or is the difference when you actually connect to the PC and transfer off and on?

That i did not know, i always used my class 6 due to not knowing for sure if it would cause issues or not. (Had the 8 gig on my hermes).
I guess then if HTC themselves issue a class 2 then looks like i am wrong then, and maybe worth doing the upgrade myself.

I used a free program to create an image of my 8gb card before I switched to a 16gb. You can get it here: http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm
All my programs worked fine and my phone never knew I switch to the 16gb.
I am using a 16GB Sandisk with no problems.
Works just fine.
Copying speed to the disk is OK for me.
I am using a 16gb Sandisk with absolutely no problems. I watch movies; listen to music/audio books run large maps for GPS etc. In fact, if an application will install on the SD card I do so. I do not see any lag or delays whatsoever. The only thing is I am running out of space I need to upgrade to a 32gb when they become available
didn't know it's possible to insert 16gb card to the blackstone.
thought it's not supported, but glad to know i was wrong.
so.. i've already ordered a 16gb sd card, but i would like to transfer all the files

I think the best method is to copy the contents of your current microSD to a new directory on your PC hard drive then copy all of the files from the new directory over to the new SD card. It doesn't hurt to make a backup of your SD from time to time.
sorry for taking a slight detour, but doesn anyone know when/if the 32gb cards are coming out? i've been holding off the 16gb and waiting for the 32gb one and i'm getting impatient
Hello!

Thx in advanced!
A question for all you TFP owners, I just bought mine and am loving it with ViperMOD's root. My question is, does it accept 64 GB MicroSDXCs or SDXCs.
I'd love to put all my MLP Episodes as well as other movies on an SDXC, or would you recommend just using a portable HDD? (I have a 1 TB USB 3.0 (but it's backward compatible to 2.0)).

you have just opened up brand new possibilities for me! how are you liking the speeds of the 64gb from dock to tablet? you get a thanks, kind sir/ma'am/beast?
The speeds are fine if your just watching a movie, but the time it takes to transfer files is hella slow. Which is why I recommended you to use a card reader.
Does the prime also accept 64GB microSD SDXC UHS-I?
I've got an 32gb micro sdxc in mine. I had to reformat it on my Ubuntu laptop using Gparted because FAT32 can't handle files over 4GB. First attempt, I formatted card as EXT3 but tablet wouldn't recognize it. Second attempt, I formatted card as NTFS, and it worked! Copied 9Gb mkv 1080p h.264 high profile movie and it plays! I also read on another board that an user confirmed that the new 128gb Lexar SDXC cards work in the dock's SD slot.

I use a ScanDisk Mobile Ultra 64GB micro SDXC -I. It was already preformatted with efat.
Takes hours to fill it up but movies are played with no lag or anything.
Thanks guys, just ordered a Lexar 128 GB SD and 64 GB MicroSD XC
Please be aware. 1 week ago i received 2 of my ScanDisk Mobile Ultra 64GB microSDXC cards that i ordered on Amazon. One of them was defected, none of the devices i tried using it on couldn't detect it at all. Amazon refunded me the money for it within a day and i ordered another one instead.
Now i have a question. Is it better to leave the ExFAT format of the card to use it with Prime tablet or it is better to format it to NTFS? I wonder which would have better speed in result, while they both support large files. Also which allocation unit size is optimal to have the best read/write speeds?

I don't think formatting affects the read/write speeds.
Look what i found:
http://blog.testfreaks.com/information/usb-flash-drive-comparison-part-2-fat32-vs-ntfs-vs-exfat/
"look at the SiSoft Sandra test, the best scores were achieved using ExFat, then FAT32 came in second and NTFS in last."
FYI... Sandisk is now selling an "Ultra" 64gb SDXC (micro SD) card that is rated Class 10 and is UHS 1. The "Ultra" tag refers to their class of cards that have 30MB/second read speed (unk. what the write speed is). Sandisk also has an "Extreme Pro" class of cards that have 95MB/second read speed, but the largest "Extreme Pro" in micro SDXC is currently 16gb. If you shop hard, you can find the 64gb "Ultra" SDXC card for less than $60 currently.
It's been previously reported that Razr supports SDXC cards, including 64gb (see this thread).
For anyone who might buy one, a word of caution. Put it in your Razr and format it there first before trying to use it on your PC. I'm not sure whether I received a defective card, or I somehow ruined my card by trying to format it to FAT32 on a Windows machine (using Paragon Partition Manager). I spent hours screwing with it before giving up and returning it to the seller.
I have the same 32gb version in my razr right now and it runs great. I assume the 64gb one wouldn't be any different.
Got mine for $23 on Amazon. Couldn't pass it up for that price.

It depends...
Is your USB adapter USB 2.0?
I typically use the SD Card slot with the adapter provided with the micro SD card.
USB for transfer unless you have a good adapter can be slower.
I use one 32gb class 10, works fine.

Have you tried a HD 1080p recording on your 32gb class 10 card ? , if yes - did you find any difference when you tried the same recording on a class 4 ( assuming 30 fps and standard cache)?
Got my one for a few weeks, phone has never been so slow.
Not faulty (tested the card multiple times) - anyone else having issues? I feel like I have a Galaxy S1. Just weird behaviour - Swype takes forever for k/b to appear, winamp takes forever for thumbnails for albums to appear - just apalling performance from my phone.

I couldn't mount it or format it. My RAZR kept saying it was damaged. So, I formatted it in my PC first and all is well.
If you're under Windows XP, you'll need to have a program to do this. I used EaseUS Partition Master which you can get for free at http://download.cnet.com/EaseUS-Partition-Master-Home-Edition/3000-2248_4-10863346.html.
So far, the card works great and it's nice to have more room for DLC and songs.
I own this card.
It was a pain in the ass to format, but once I formatted it a few times, it worked great.
64gb picked up for like 70$ shipped from ebay. All my Community, Walking Dead and music and SO much more. Couldnt be happier

You can simply put it in the phone. No need to do anything beforehand. If it requires you to format, the phone will tell you to do so.
I've given up completely on trying to get this to work in my phone. The phone will recognize it as 64GB, but will freeze up on numerous occasions even if I'm not accessing it. Does no one else have the freezing issue? Running Flick 5.0 Tornado
So what's the concensus on this "extreme" cards' performance while in the phone? Are backups faster? Transferring files to/from a dekstop while connected via USB faster?

if 64GB microSDXC works, highly likely the 128GB microSDXC would work too
but 128GB microSDXC is half the price of an omate
and you can't really consume a lot of video/data on this.... 2GB of video recording for 20 minutes = 8 hours on 64GB....
phone lasts roughly 2.x hours when doing video recording (screen on, video stops when you hit 2GB limit... trying to find an alternative app that allows screen-off recording without limit)

Shame you can't hook it up to some fancy wearable battery charger to make last longer...
Maybe get some pivotheads if you want to do POV filming without a screen being on....

well, two use cases for me were:
1) skiing/snowboarding, my left jacket arm has a pocket to place a 2600mAh external battery, place omate on my arm.
2) cycling, could tie the omate on my bike along with the same external battery above.
well, this would have worked if omate included the charging clip. with the dock, it's not really possible (hinge of the dock faces the camera, so you can't really drill a hole)
oh well... screen-off would save more battery
i just wanted a one-device solution (can bring my cellular connection with video recording)... too bad
