Official i-mate rom won't install after installing t-mobile

Earlier, I installed unofficial T-Mobile 1.6 rom on my i-mate. I just recenlty tried installing the official i-mate update and there is a country code. I don't have the old rom to revert to. Can anyone help. I know I would have to at the least get a copy of the old rom and then install it into the i-mate. Again, since I don't have a backup of the old one, I would need info on how to get one first.
The T-Mobile unofficial one works fine. I just wanted to go back to always on gprs etc. that the i-mate update has. If not, I guess I will have to wait until the rom kitchen is up and running for this unit.

I think you better try it using bootloader way, because t-mobile protect it's update, it happen in XDAI if you update your XDA to 4.16 and you want to go back to 4.11 then you have to update it using bootloader to be able to go back from the previous one 4.11 8) hope this help you...opps correction please there is no bootloader on XDA II, there is bootloader but in different way, I think if you copy your old nbf to sd using xdatools and go to bootloader by using power+anydirection+ reset it will ask to download the nbf to you device... hmmm if this doesn't work you have to look for another way.
T-Mobile 1.60 BUGGY Rom - Want to go back to iMate ROM
Folks,
I'm in the same position - Can someone please outline the success they've had going back from the T-Mobile 1.60 ROM to Imate ROM 1.5283??
Any thoughts would be great... (I'm guessing the boot loader using an SD card may work but would love to hear of any new tricks that people have learned on this
Cheers
Andy
I'll try to help.
Where can the ROM be downloaded, so I can have a look at it.

T-Mobile Back to iMate ROM
Thanks
I've uploaded the new iMate ROM image to:
http://www.c1au.com/iMatePDAROMS/ruu15283.zip
The somewhat flakey T-Mobile 1.6.006 ROM (which I'm trying to get away from is at
http://www.c1au.com/iMatePDAROMS/TMobile160.zip
Of course, with the different operator / country codes, it's not just a matter of running the .EXE - It'll need to involve the boot loader of a little hex editing of the header, I'm guessing (just guessing?!)
The new iMate ROM is meant to be the best bet around at the moment and my device is an iMate in the first place. The only reason why I installed the T-Mobile one was to get the Bluetooth GPS fix (which works well) - BUT so many other things aren't as stable!!
The new iMate ROM is meant to have the BT GPS fix as well.
Any help, much appreciated!
Cheers
Andy

That's correct, you need to mod it.

THANKS!
You're a champion!
Thanks very much..
It sounds like there's a few people that'll thank you!
The other posts on the subject aren't too clear at this point - So it'll be great to clear up the issue for the iMate / XDA II.
All the best - Have a great weekend.

OK, made some time to create a batch file to upgrade.
Works only for upgrade from T-Mobile 1.60.06 NL to I-mate 1.53.82.
1. Download the ROM image ruu15283.zip from the site in this posting
2. Unzip the file with Winzip
3. You now get a file called ruu15283wwwe_cdl.exe
3. Extract this file with Winzip to a new folder
4. Extract the attached file to the same folder
5. Start the conversion and upgrade by double-clicking convert.bat
Since I'm out till Sunday, I can't check my mail to respond to problems.
Enjoy!
Can the first person brave enough to try this please confirm success.
IT WORKS!!
Jes - You're a scholar and a gentleman!!
And a *(&(&( good programmer
IT WORKED!
Thanks a million!
Let me know how to send you virtual beers or whatever
(or if you need a hand with anything - Please let me know!)

Andy
Nah, I'm not a good programmer, I just know how to write bachfiles and how to combine things to get the disered result.
Thanks has to go to Isme. He knows a lot about the internal working of the XDA II, the ROMS and the bootloader process.
He wrote the great tool used to change the file headers, so you can update your machine with a ROM of a different brand.
He's a good programmer!
If somebody needs a mod to upgrade from another ROM version, please let me know.
And if you want to do something back, please donate to the people who keep this nice forum up and running.
It worked. For those who want to get back onto the official path from unofficial t-mobile this is an automated way to do it. Thanks...Jon
Backing Up XDA2 ROM+CE
I'm a new XDA2 iMate user, want to back up my ROM+CE before I screw things up. I did this on my XDA1 (power + software reset, then press contact button I think). Anyway, I always had my ROM+CE backed up to a 64M SD card ... just in case.
I've searched these forums for such a procedure for XDA2 ... no luck.
What is the process, if any, to backup the XDA2's ROM+CE image to SD card?
Appreciate any help,
Craig
I think it's possible with the xda2dmp tool, but you better ask Itsme, he wrote it.
You can find it on this site: http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/xda-ii.html
PHoto contacts wont work

I owe you one!!
My friend wants to install the T-Mobile Update because the windows CE version on the T-mobile ROM is newer than that of the imate. Any magic patches that can be done.

Difference between i-mate 1.52.00WWE ROM and i-mate 1.53.82
Can anybody outline the differences between the 1.52.00 and the 1.53.82 official i-mate ROMs?
I'm trying to ascertain whether I have sufficient incentive to upgrade (given the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality I subscribe to in my old age!).
Sufficient incentive might be;
 Faster GPRS
 Improved battery life
 Improved all-round performance.
Thanks guys.

Just upgraded to i-mate from much-loved XDA!

1.72 T Mobile Rom Needed

hi has anyone got a uk T Mobile Rom latest version or a rom i can use to upgrade my uk 1.60 T Mobile Rom to, as being fairley new to this i seem to be having trouble using any other roms. also could anyone tell me what is the latest and best rom available
Cheers Burgs 8)
Best ROM available is the 1.72.00WWE rom from Qtek or iMate.
To use it you will have to modify the country-id (which contains the provider name).
Just download one of those roms from this site (search for RUU172*)
Follow instructions on the wiki part of this site
Upgrade the Radio and the OS only!
Dont use the Extended ROM (ms_.nbf file) as supplied (ie delete it before the update) as it contains specific customisations from the supplying operators. You might wanna try my 1.72.901 Extended Rom archive (also search this forum) for that.
Hi Edsub,
what about RadioROM 1.17?
Worse or better than 1.14?
I have no experience with Radio 1.17, YET
Planned for next week
BTW Edsub,
see my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=11618
231 people read this one so far and no one is offering help.
Could you help the less gifted (me)?
Sorry, but on the following page is a description that does the trick:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HimalayaRomFlashing
I just found that it sure is hard to find via the menu's. Fortunately I stored a shortcut to it myself.
Hi Edsub,
thanks! That was what i was looking for (for starters).
Lets see if i can make something of this......
To al the others:
thanks for helping me out!

You should really search for the postings here. DCS has done a great job in putting down his painstaking effort in upgrading the ROMs.
I have merely put all the related postings in a common area so that lazy me can get it all in one area....

To use planet 3 all you have to do is type three.net.au in ie.
before you can do that you will need the settings for 3services, 3mms and or 3netaccess configured. There is a tool that does it on wm6. link is below, you can try it for your WM5 rom. The dopod rom will only serve you to remove any telstra programs. If the cab program below doesnt work there is a thread which has the settings for you to enter manually.
*edit* the cab file has been removed from the thread (first one below) you will have to check back again to get it.

Dopod ROM for 3 Aus
Dopod have released a ROM update specifically for 3 in AU on 2007/03/28.
The version number is: v1.30.707.8 and it states as follows:
838Pro (WM5) ROM code for Hutchison ‘3’ network - version 1.30.707.8 This ROM code will allow you to fully utilize the Planet 3 services.
As i'm not on 3 (using Black 2.0 WM6 using Vodafone AU here) i havent actually downloaded it for myself and from the look of it, its not even mentioned on the Wiki so i cant tell you exactly whats different from the generic AU ROM v1.30.707.4 released on 2006/12/01.
If you cant find it anywhere else, maybe I could download it and get it to you somehow!
Cheers,
Chris

Hey mate,
Yeah, i cant log into the dopod site as i have an imate so it doesnt accept the serial number. If you could download it and post it on a filesharing site or something, that would be awesome. I know they are fairly big so i assume that writes email out (i have space, im on gmail)
Also, is WM6 good? where do i upgrade?
Thanks so much for your help
No probs mate, its uploading to www.megaupload.com now, i'll update this post with a link when complete. (approx 25 mins to go)
EDIT: Here is the link to the Dopod ROM: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OY2IJE79 (I'll update the Wiki with this link soon)
EDIT2: I have updated the Wiki with this ROM info. As i haven't installed it, i can't confirm the exact radio, bootloader etc versions however i believe its just minor changes from the previous release so have left most of the versions the same. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
As for upgrading, before you do anything i would read, read and read as much of the XDA Wiki as you can. If you havent flashed any ROM's on your JasJam before you will need to do this before uprading to the Dopod ROM as your JasJam will most likely still be locked down to i-mate ROM's only and the Wiki explains exactly what you need to do.
The link to the Wiki is here ---->> http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
As for upgrading to WM6, the same advice applies. All the information you need is in the Wiki or the Hermes Mobile 6 forum and as long as you read carefully before doing anything you should be right to go.

I already have the ExtROM but I couldn't find the network wizard cab file.
Can anybody upload the NetWiz.cab from 838Pro (WM5) ROM code for Hutchison ‘3’ Australia Network - version 1.30.707.8?
Thanks in advanced.
These settings are pretty hard to find. I think it's all I've done all night.
Courtesy of a thread on Aussie3G, I got a link to a thread on this site.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298936
Amongst the attachments on that thread is a "CWW Enterprises AUS Operator Con.cab"
This program has configuration settings for the Australian carriers, including "Three".
I've just run it and it's created 3mms, 3services & 3netaccess, but I'm still having troubles with email. I'll be leaving it to another day now.
If you can get it all working, please tell me how
