I wonder if the official WM2005 has been released yet, and where to download?
Cause you can download the WM2003's everywhere on operator site's, when is the WM2005 comming?
Or still in beta testphase??? It's taking a long time...
no it's not released yet
and when it does ms will not put it out for download
they dont really do free operation systems at ms
mw200X need to be specialy made for a device
this is don by the manufactors of the device
and they pay ms
many manufactors will not release 2005 for their older devices
because
1 then they need to pay ms more
2 because 2005 is made to run on persistent flash so it dont loose
the data when it's hardreset and because more then 128MB real ram
eat battery for lunch!

It is amazing thing. I unzipped the package it contains a bin file caontains the new rom. Is there any way to include it with the radio file and extended rom of XDAII from any provider to upgrade our XDAII. I know that the answer is no but I try to dream, cannot wait more one month or more to have it in XDAII.
I´d rather have a VGA screen for the XDA II... what a drool that would be.
hi!
i tried to upgrade qtek2020i to wm2005.
and i download "ftp://xda:[email protected]/Himalaya2005/OS_ROM/WM2k5_1.60a_XDA2_HIMALAYA.rar"
but i had a mesage of "the rom image that you are trying
it's not design to work with your pocket pc.
please check the vender website and download the correct rom update".
what i must do?
thank you.
2020i != himalaya device so it can use any himalaya roms !
so it's possible to upgrade qtek2020i to wm2005?
if yes how?
thank you.
not that i know of the mimalaya 2005 was leaked without HTC's consent as far as i know and
it seems as if there are no other plans to release 2005 upgrades for the current models at least from imate
http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=349447&sid=ed5097fed701dbbfa66e2c8829272e80
so unless it's officialy released or somebody port it to the other models which is something which have never been don before as far as i know then it will never come to 2020i
I'd be very surprised to see a WM2005 released by one of the major vendors supplying the current crop of XDA-style phones. It'll be the Universal I think.
is there a chance for upgrading 2003se with mediaplayer 10?
At the moment i'm running with 2003se sable english without mediaplayer 10. At the weekend i tryed to run with the translated version (chinese to english) but it wasnt stable at all.
Now i downloaded the dumped windows 2003se with mp 10, i hope.
Big question: how do i get the right files for mp 10 to my himalaya? Or dos somebody have the needed files to implement mp 10 to a stable 2003se version?
Would be nice if anybody could help.
Thanks
sky
all versions of 2003SE for himalaya are translated from chinese versions
all versions of 2003SE for himalaya are translated from chinese versions
OK OK OK ......
To say it clear spoken. Is there any way to install MP 10 on my Himalaya without flashing my stable 2003se?
Better now?
not that i know of
2005 have it too though
or you can try search to see if i missed something about wm10
still nothing found....
I've been lookin around half the day here and found nothing about that wmp 10 thing.
the latest 2003 se chs is too bugy for use in office or on work. but the mediaplayer works great.
maybe someone (not me) can dump te nesecary files from this version.
only a thought......
i think people tried back before they all went 2005
dont think they made it work
as players go 99% of people here pref TCPMP player anyway and dont miss mp10 much
atm my xdaII o2 is dead, it is getting sent in for repair soon, and it was sent in before, they said my mobo was dead, because i tried to upgrade to 2005 (off the O2 website) (i think, not sure, done too much to remember)
they tell me the XDAII does not work with WM2005, so i will be either getting 2003 or 2003se instead. I dearly want to upgrade to wm2005 for more features, but dont want to risk my XDA dying again. should i try to upgrade again, or not? (first my GSM died then my operating system hung at O2 splash screen, eventually rendered my entire ppc useless)
are there any specific ROMS to look for and/ or any specific pitfalls to lookout for, or should i just do without updating and just deal with WM2003?
thankyou all in advance!
ps. if they just upgrade me to wm2003se is that close enough to wm2005 or, is there much difference?
thanks
the wm2005 ppl can get on himalaya is a leaked BETA version it's not the finished version
i doubt you found it on o2's site
since the last official himalaya version released in english is 2003 version 1.7X
many ppl run the beta 2005 and the manualy translated unofficial english 2003SE
buzzdev.net
for 2005 beta
hey, thanks for the reply, it straightened out a lot for me
now, does anyone know if 2005 is being released at all on XDA II?
or is there 2003SE available for official download?
thanks again
Imate have officialy state long agoe that no device which were not sold with 2005 will have it released later on
non of the others that i heard of stated anything other then some stating that no new rom updates would be made for older devices at all
the only official version of 2003SE there is in chinese
and have been altered by ppl on this site to be translated to english
thanks so much for the information, rudegar, you walking library you :
thankyouthankyouthankyou!
When I registered with this forum I was presented with a list of possible XDA II models that I could select that is used to indicate to others what model I have. Unfortunately my version is not in the list. Here are the specs:
R 1.17.00
G 1337.28
D 1.72.01ger (This is a german OS)
The OS doesn't say "Windows Mobile 2003" but rather:
Microsoft Pocket PC
Version 4.20.0 (Build 14053)
My XDA II has 128 MB of RAM.
I would like to know whether its possible to upgrage my OS to Windows Mobile 2005. The english version would be fine. I don't want the german version anyway. I've read a lot of posts but it isn't entirely clear whether it's really possible. Does upgrading only work with some version of the XDA II and beyond that version while not working for versions prior to it? Or can this upgrade be made to any version of the XDA II?
Can someone point me to something that would give me a strong sense of assurance that it is possible. Without this assurance I won't chance it. Last thing I need is a dead phone. The major reason I want to upgrade is to eliminate the problem of losing everything if the battery dies or is removed.
Thanks for your help.
yes
www.buzzdev.net
believe there is a german one too
Have you or do you know anyone who has *successfully* installed Windows Mobile 2005 on a version of the XDA II that I have or an older version in a language other than english?
if you go to the window 2005 forum in the himalaya group it's almost mainly users who installed 2005 on their himalaya devices
well that and ppl who did it on their blue angel too
"XDA II that I have or an older version in a language other than english?"
not 100% sure what you are saying here
if you by version mean himalaya or if you are talking about your rom version if the later rom version have nothing to do with it really
if you mean device as in himalaya then roms hare 100% made for a device windows mobile is not like normal windows
so the rom for himalaya is MADE for himalaya
and about language then it's a part of the rom only if you change rom you change language to the language of the rom you change to
