First - sincere thanks - great site - I unlocked my XDA months ago with no problems
On holiday, number 1 son dropped it on a rock. Power button only works if held down. Initially would give normal today screen. Now only gives wallaby bootloader screen v5.15. Same on cradle and activesync no longer recognises the device.
From bootloader screen I can acess the diagnostics screen but when I run tests it gets stuck at the playback test.
Not suprisingly resetting using the stylus doesn't help either.
Will I have to bin it and start again?
I no gadget lover but I really love this piece of kit, so if any of you can help I will be sincerely grateful.

Did you do a hard reset by unscrewing stylus and inserting in the hole below headset socket, push once, leave for a while then push once more?
Hard Reset
Hi
Using the stylus only works if I am pressing the power button. It results in the Wallaby bootloader screen going off and then coming back on.
Is this a hardware problem - ie phone+rock = broken power switch
or
This is now a hardware and software problem?

Hi guys,
I hoped any of you can give me a solution to my problem. I want to reflash my ROM. I've done this several times before. My problem is when I want to put my Himalaya into bootloader mode, I can't, because my power button is broken. Is there anyway to put Himalaya into bootloader mode without using the three button combination during boot?
thanks,
undead
not as far as i know
I read something about SoftSPL / SSPL. Is there any version of this program runs on Himalaya? The ones I got is for Hermes and Trinity only.
peace,
undead
I've the same problem... my power button is unusable due to a falling down and I power off my qtek 2020 via software.
so how put it in bootloader mode??

IT IS POSSIBLE!
BUT DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGED OR FRIED PDAs
I know because I myself have done it on an I-mate (Himalaya). It took some trial and error but I am now running WM6. In my case though, I had to completely remove the power button from the device. The previous owner dropped it on its head, and I got it for free, unfortunately most of the top is missing, including the power button.
SO, on to how I did it. I took a paper clip (metal) and put it about 1cm down, slightly to the right of where the power button used to connect to the motherboard. Make sure you have turned your XDA/IMATE on before doing this. You'll find that when you find the right area, your device will turn off, or the screen will go dark (like holding the power button for a second).
If you manage to hold it there for the right period of time, while pressing the other bootloader buttons, then you will be able to enter bootloader.
This took me close to an hour to get just right, but it eventually worked.
Note: I have no idea how exactly this worked, but it did. My IMATE was useless without me updating the rom, so I had no worry about frying it if I did something wrong, that is why I was OK with playing around with its insides. BEWARE that you MAY DO DAMAGE to the device.
Good luck.
I have flashed my phone atleast 100x and never had this problem. It keeps getting in a loop to align the screen. I finish it and it just starts again. I tried to hard reset it, but it says that they battery is too low and will shut down. But my phone had 80% on it before I flashed it and it has been on the charger all day. Any ideas? Thanks for your help <M>
Have you tried to hard boot with the charger plugged in? Also take the battery out for a few seconds and put it back. I assume you know how to hard reset by getting to the boatloader screen? Vol Down, Center Button Reset simultaneously? Hold the vol & center buttons down until the boot loader shows up, then you can proceed with a hard reset.
Just for something else to try, take out the SD card and SIM card. Something must be messed up on the flash. I would try to get back to boatloader and reflash.

There's a registry setting to define the threshold for the pressure points, the only reason for it to be in a loop is that you're outside that threshold (i.e. for some reason the phone thinks you are pressing too far from the crosshairs)
This indicates a problem with the touch panel, could be pressure is being applied from an improperly fitted case, or a damaged digitizer, or otherwise.

I tried taking out the sim card, the SD card and did a hard reset on the phone many times. I tried it with the charger installed, not installed and even with the usb cable attached. It says that the battery is too low and will shut down. <M>

Do you have any suggestions of where I can check this out? I took the battery case back off, and everything looks great and the case looks like it is fitted great. Where is the digitizer at? thanks for the help. <M>
The digitizer is a glass panel that fits on top of the LCD, it's the top layer you touch when using the device, just under the surface.
Here's a thread with 2 pictures of a cracked digitizer that should help to illustrate its location in the device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3829487
you might try pressing each cross slightly higher, lower, to the left, or to the right (i.e. do all 4 taps slightly higher)
If the digitizer is off, this might bring the values within tolerance to at least get past the align screen, alternatively you could connect with a registry editor and change the treshold value higher.. but neither of these will fix the underlying issue that the digitizer is not reporting the proper values.
If you can get to the tricolor boot loader, you should be able to reflash.
Try launching bootloader. At tri-color screen, attach to the PC and launch your new ROM from the PC. It should go ahead and load the new image. I would try an entirely different ROM.
Mine was stuck at one point and this worked for me. I did not have the alignment issue however.

I dropped the flyer yesterday which isn't uncommon and it seemed fine after and I used it normally for the rest of the day. This morning I picked it up noticed a crack and the touchscreen won't respond so I can't unlock it.
Power on and rotation is working fine but I can't manage a reset as it is locked.
I was about to scarper off and look at Nexus 7/Kindle Fire HD prices but checking here it might be a matter of a glass screen/digitiser replacement? Is this correct?
Sounds like digitizer to me.
You can try a factory reset from hboot, as hboot only uses the volume and power buttons to navigate.
Hold down power button until the Flyer powers off. When the screen is black, hold down the volume down rocker (don't let go of it, until I say so later). The Flyer will either reboot itself, otherwise you can press power for a few seconds and release to power on. Keep holding the vol down rocker, until the white hboot screen appears.
I ordered a replacement Digitizer and will attempt this when I have time. I was able to do a HTC sync so it seems to be alive but I'm reluctant to hard reset as the I'm probably losing the dat for nothing.
Hi,
My Samsung Tbalet 10.1 GT7500 with Android 4.0 suddenly froze with the Samsung logo at boot and then became dead. Not starting or charging.
I have searched for help and done the following -
1.Pressing the power button long enough
2.Pressing power and volume together and similar permutations
3.Pressing volume up and down and touching the screen
4.Connecting to a car charger and connecting to a PC
5. Opened the back cover and disconnected the connector from the battery for 3 minutes and tried to charge again
I cannot even do a hard reset by pressing buttons since there's no response to any button!
Can anyone help? I don't mind even a hard rest just to get it going or any other clever ideas.
A bit desperate as cannot replace this tablet for some months!
Megan
Can only see apx on the device manager!
After spending a day with it, the tablet is still dead but when i connect to the pc and press power, I can view apx in the device manager?!!
Can any one in XDA help at all?!
S9 plus 64gb
Hi all, was hoping someone could help.
I have recently, last month, changed the battery, so I know it's not the battery. When I plug in a charger the phone is unresponsive, drawing only 0.05amps. if I leave it over night the green led will light up and when I press the power key the screen says 100%. When I try to boot there is no response. I have tried
Power +vol down
Power +vol up
Power +vol up +down
Power and all buttons
For about 30sec but still no boot or anything. I'm thinking maybe fried board, but was hoping software issue. Is there anything i could try to boot it?
Many thanks
Possible that a connector came loose?
Make sure no foreign conductive debris was accidentally introduced... a small loose screw. Check that all screws are in place in the assemblies.
Is the power switch good?
Hi thanks for the reply, I checked there's no loose or foreign object near the charge port. When I assembled the phone all screws were replaced so no loose screws. When the phone is charged ,ie green led I press the power button and the phone activates the screen to display 100%, this tells me the power button is working. Do you have anymore suggestions would be helpful. Many thanks.

If it won't go into the boot menu it's not looking good. Try a hard reset.
The subassemblies when out of circuit are susceptible to ESD damage. Handle these like a stick of ram particularly the mobo and display. At the very least raise room humidity to 50% and wear all clothes. In addition a earth grounded ESD mat and wrist strap are recommended as are following ESD protocols.
Otherwise you may or may not get away with it.
Hi thanks for the help. Yh the problem occurred during normal use. How would I do a hard reset if no menus are displaying? Many thanks.

Pull battery connection.
Recheck all ribbon connectors while you're at it.
Yep done that still the same. No response. Guess the main board maybe fried.
