USB cable for MDA I -- device unrecognized with MDA III - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Accessories

I have a USB cable for MDA I (the original T-Mobile Pocket PC), and while fitting the MDA III and charging it, it causes a "USB device unrecognized" pop-up on the desktop.
Now I got a USB miniSync cable advertized for MDA III, and it has the same plug-in jack as the old MDA I cable. And surely causes the same message.
I see that the MDA III cradle's plug is different from MDA I's...
Is there any way to make those USB cables work with MDA III (drivers?), or miniSync is mislabeled? Some places, like EB cases, carry cables labeled XDA/MDA II /MDA III -- I assume they're the same, so is it a mislabeling too?...

Leadtek 9531 to USB cable

I have a Leadtek 9531 GPS Mouse which I wired into my car for my previous PDA (An Orange SPV M2000 branded Blue Angel).
I've now upgraded to an Orange SPV M3100 branded Hermes.
I want to keep my GPS Mouse, but I can't find a replacement cable set anywhere. (All the USB - RJ11 Cables I can find are Charging only)
Leadtek's website is no help !
The exisiting cable is a cigarette lighter to PDA cable, with a y split for an RJ11 socket for the GPS Mouse (I'm after a cigarette lighter to USB\RJ11 female)
Does anyone know where I can get one of these cables from ?
cheers
Correct me if I am wrong but I believe since Hermes has no USB host chip one cannot connect any USB devices to it? Hermes´ USB port is for audio, sync and charging only, right?

RS-232 out?

Hi,
I am upgrading from an iPaq hx4700 to a tytn, and am wondering if it is possible to get RS-232 serial data out of the mini usb cable. I have installed a serial GPS reciever into my car and it would be nice just to use a single cable to plug into the bottom of the tytn as I do with my iPaq.
With Regards,
Mark
Unfortunately the TyTn has no external Com port as the Hx4700 has.
The mini usb section only supports usb and nothing else.
Except for the extra audio connections but that has nothing to do with the usb connection itself.
Cheers,
Drifter
