WM2005 ActiveSync annoyance - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Since using WM2005 I have noticed that at certain intervals, activesync on the device runs and there is not way to stop this from happening. Does anyone here know how to disable this annoyance?

activesync 3.7 problem/question!!! help!!!

why is it that activesync 3.7 will stop syncing with my pda? the last time it did it, i had to completely uninstall activesync and reinstall it. when i turn my phone on, it makes a sound to signify that new hardware has been connected, but activesynce remains dim. i don't remember having this problem with 3.6, however, i do recall the problem with 3.7. is there a way around this glitch?
have you got firewall software blocking it ? I run Active Sync 3.7 and have no problems other than not permanently allowing it access ('cos I'm paranoid) so it occasionally asks for permission...
Yes I agree with Spence, check your firewall if you run software like Zonealarm of the like.
If you still get problems with activesync, stop its process completely (alt-ctrl-delete.. processes.. wcescomm.exe) and relaunch the program. Or you could just reboot!!
Max
yeah I used to run Zone Alarm until yesterday and have had a few permission niggles with it - finally ended up uninstalling it as it doesn't work properly with Mcaffee VirusScan anyway-
on reinstalling Virus Scan I was finally able to load the Mcaffee FireWall, and have had no problems at all with Active Sync once allowing it through... it even has a "trace" facility for tracking intrusion attempts .. (very cool in a geeky way)
..also did a leak test on the firewall and it's locked down!
VirusScan also now recognises my XDA and scans that as well as a bonus !! So my recommendation is to buy Virus Scan 7 with the firewall - it's about 40 quid.........!!

Program recommendations

I have the original XDA upgraded to 2003 from one of the kitchens. I just recently noticed that my XDA is turning itself on very frequently, for no apparent reason (I'm sure there is a reason, perhaps some program I have installed, but no idea what). I have made sure that I have the option enabled to disable all the buttons except power when it's turned off (and confirmed that this is the case). Anyone know what would be causing this, or know of a 'screen saver' type program that will shut it off when it comes on like this?
Also, wondering if there is a weather program for the PPC that I could run from the start menu (using MS voice command) that would connect to the internet via GPRS and announce or display the current weather for a giving zip code.
The most common known reason for this is the outlook timed update ... check that the scheduling is set to "Manual"

WM6 problems so far

Hi everyone! I've read these forums for a long time but haven't posted much before. It was doing my research here that led me to buying my Prophet. It couldn't have been a better decision, so thank you! I owe you guys one.
So... I thought it might be helpful to list the issues people have been having with their WM6 builds so far, since right now the problems seem to be spread through other threads. I flashed the PDAViet 4.0.0.0.3 two days ago, and although it runs pretty well, I've run into a couple of problems that other people have seen too:
1. Wifi works only sometimes. I'm really not sure what causes it, but it will always work properly again after a soft reset. It doesn't seem to matter how long my Prophet is turned on - I soft reset last night, put my phone down, and tried the wifi again this morning, and it worked fine. I'm guessing that it might be some other program or system process that's interfering with the wifi/wlan.
2. MMS/SMS. Since I don't use MMS, I can't speak for myself, but I've read other people are having trouble getting their MMS to work properly. I've also read that a small minority of people are having trouble with their SMS. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
3. Missed calls. People have posted that their phones sometimes just won't ring, and they get missed calls. Some say that this can be fixed by downgrading to the 2.19 radio ROM. Has anyone tried this, and did it work?
4. Bluetooth. I haven't had any bluetooth problems, and the bluetooth keyboard I installed works great. However, I've read that other people have been having some problems. Anyone care to comment?
5. Battery troubles. People have said different things about whether or not their WM6 ROMs use more power than WM5; I'm not sure that it actually makes much of a difference. One thing I did notice, though: my Prophet will charge fine when attached to my PC's USB port, but not when plugged into the wall! The yellow light comes on, and it looks like it's charging, but the battery continues to drain. This is easily one of the weirdest problems I've had.
If you have other problems/errors using any WM6 ROM (not just PDAViet), please add on to the list! Say what the problem is and what ROM you're using. Also, if anyone knows fixes for any of the problems, add them here too!
TrueNeytral 1.4 MS BT.
Very few issues. No problems with Missed calls, MMS, BT or battery (10% per day with 2 calls each day). Wifi varies a bit - but no real problem.
Once I mistakenly pressed the flight-mode icon, then turned the phone back on - I didn't recieve SMS for two days, until I re-booted. Strange...
7. Sporadically missing email, wifi and bluetooth settings after soft-reset, even if we turn off the phone everytime a change is made.
Occasional missed calls; seems like they just go right to voice mail sometimes.
Battery life fair with Radio 1.40; it may be a little better with 1.38, hard to tell; definitely better life by turning off 3G
Some minor incompatibilities with BatteryPack Pro, mostly visual things, nothing functional so far
In Windows Live, when checking email if I close an email message Windows Live closes and sends me back to the Today Screen; if I 'reply' to an email, then 'cancel message', it will send me back to the email list, not close the program and return me to the Today page. This bug disappeared for a while and the email functioned properly until I flashed a new radio ROM(1.40), then bug returned

Yeah, me too. I didn't see it happen with my email, and I don't use the bluetooth too much, but it seems like the settings for my home router would mysteriously disappear whenever I soft reset, and I'd have to put in my password again.

I have the same problem. What I've seen: I only loose mails, internet settings, Windows Live Messenger settings, if I use soft reset harware button. Try to use an software program that allow you to soft reset device like XCPUScalar which put in system tray an icon for that function.
If you find something else to remedy that problem please anounce me

Don't forget the password issue.
An important feature for business users - I guess.

[Q] ActiveSync problem

So here is the thing. From time to time, mostly hour by hour, my Leo connects with internet and changes time one hour forward. Always, after I notice the change I turn the clock back, but it's not a solution. And one more thing, after that, in task manager, activesync is always present. I tried to decline Location service, tweaking the registry as advised few weeks ago on xda main page. I seroiusly need help in disableing activesync, because it really gets on my nerve. I have a data plan from my operator, but those constant time changes are annoying and confuseing sometimes (especcialy in the morning). Thank You for the solution (if there is any) in advance
as for time changes you'll find few threads on disabling the GSM time sync, also check in Settings / Data services if the internet time sync is disabled
for ActiveSync check here

[Q] Bluetooth connection issue poss due to high memory usage?

When I was on stock ICS of apps that run constantly I had total recall and lightflow installed. My phone would auto connect to my car without fail. I installed doubletwist and started to have problems. Sometimes it would connect and other times it wouldn't. It seemed if I had been using airtwist or using the phone a lot prior that it would fail. On restarting the phone it would boot and auto connect. When it failed to connect it I checked task manager and the memory usage was quite high.
I moved to stock JB and all was fine again. I assume JB manages memory better than ICS. Then I installed tasker and now I have a problem again.
I can only think with a lot of background processes running it is interfering with the bluetooth connection.
Is this the case and is there a way round it? I have just set developer options to kill anything as I leave it to see if this helps.
I would appreciate any other suggestions.
Got in the car earlier and the phone didn't connect. This is driving me nuts. I don't want to start removing programs if there is a simple fix. It must be related to something I have installed as it has been fine in the past.
I nobody else having this issue?
