Windows mobile 5.o for XDA 2i - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Does any one know if windows 5.0 works on XDA 2i and does it support its wi-fi? I have windows 5.0 but don't want to jump ahead and try it and bugger up my phone.
Cheers thanks.

I can't speak on the issue of running WM5 on an xdaIIi, but the wifi works fine on my xdaIIs

Do you mean that you have the 5.0 for the XDA2i (Alpine)?!!?!?
If you do just dump the rom and send it to buzz_lightyear..
Magneto supports wifi of course on our Blueangels, it should be supported on the Alpines as well

also 2005 for himalaya or blue angel dont work on other devices
so if you have 2005 for one of those you cant use it on your IIi

I have the WM2k5_1.60c.00WWE_XDA2_HIMALAYA version. I want to update my XDA IIi, is there any word out on when it will be released and if there is one in developing for the IIi?
thanks for the replys

HIMALAYA is xdaII
alpine is xdaIIi
they cant use the same roms so even if you could install that rom without it refusing to do it you would only ruin your pda
the rom you talk about is also a beta rom leaked from htc or somewhere
the only official news about official 2005 roms have come from imate who say that no upgrades to 2005 will be released for any of the pre universal pda's

New Smartphone Rom

Hi, I own the QTEK 2020 and a couple of months ago updated it with the dangard rom update. Now it seems there is a new update in the form of the WM2003SE and I need to know if I cn get one for my phone as I dont have an XDA2, imate, himalaya or any such device but a QTEK 2020!
I want it too
When you can find one, please let me know, because I'm in searching of one too
i have heard nothing about any 2003SE for xda update
where did you hear that ?
Microsoft Creates New Opportunity for Windows Mobile Developers With New Software Platforms and Tools
Microsoft unveils the new Windows Mobileā„¢ 2003 Second Edition software focused on enabling unprecedented hardware innnovation and application development.
ANother question.
I saw this update on the front page:
A sotware update was released for the iMate (Himalaya / XDA II). It's a ROM update which holds a new OS ROM and not just a new extended ROM.
i.e. Imate 1.66
if i install this upgrade on my qtek 2020 would it work and will my phone still retain its triband capabilities?

why don't you try it...you can always revert back or vice versa with no probs at all...
you can also back-up your original rom if you want too...
hehehe...search here all the topic rgding wm4 and wm5...
conclusion(my opinion)...if you are a heavy 3rd party application user, wm5 not your place...not yet until our genius people here got a full or a 90% bugs solution for it...
thanks...

I have Windows 2003 SE on my Qtek 9090, can I install Windows Mobile 2005 on it?
if it gets released for that device because you cant use the himalaya or any other rom not made for your device

Bluetooth firmware upgrade V1.2 ??

i bought a Jabra Bt-800 but found it require V1.2 BT firmware. My XdaII of coz do not support. Any suggestion here to help me upgrade the firmware? tks.
You would have to flash your XDA with a newer ROM to get the BT800 working, I know WM2003SE 2.20 works fine, and WM2005 works fine, and I have heard rumours WM2003SE 2.06 works also, but these are not official O2 updates, and if you needed support from O2 you would have to downgrade your device to the O2 ROM again.
All of the ROMs here have pros and cons, and it really is a personal preference as to which one will suit your needs the best.
I personally think the Diamond 1.2 ROM and the WM2003SE2.20WWE ROMs are the best, unless you are feeling adventerous and you want to try WM2005 (I love it, but no GPS software working on it is making me want to flash back to 2.20).
You cannot change the BT version by simply upgrade the ROM. Xda II uses BT v 1.1 and you can't change that bcos its simply a hardware matter, not software.. Which means u hav to replace the BT stick inside ur Xda II (I think that's impossible, the only way is through the SDIO)

What should I do.. please read =] upgrade or not?.........

atm my xdaII o2 is dead, it is getting sent in for repair soon, and it was sent in before, they said my mobo was dead, because i tried to upgrade to 2005 (off the O2 website) (i think, not sure, done too much to remember)
they tell me the XDAII does not work with WM2005, so i will be either getting 2003 or 2003se instead. I dearly want to upgrade to wm2005 for more features, but dont want to risk my XDA dying again. should i try to upgrade again, or not? (first my GSM died then my operating system hung at O2 splash screen, eventually rendered my entire ppc useless)
are there any specific ROMS to look for and/ or any specific pitfalls to lookout for, or should i just do without updating and just deal with WM2003?
thankyou all in advance!
ps. if they just upgrade me to wm2003se is that close enough to wm2005 or, is there much difference?
thanks
the wm2005 ppl can get on himalaya is a leaked BETA version it's not the finished version
i doubt you found it on o2's site
since the last official himalaya version released in english is 2003 version 1.7X
many ppl run the beta 2005 and the manualy translated unofficial english 2003SE
buzzdev.net
for 2005 beta
hey, thanks for the reply, it straightened out a lot for me
now, does anyone know if 2005 is being released at all on XDA II?
or is there 2003SE available for official download?
thanks again
Imate have officialy state long agoe that no device which were not sold with 2005 will have it released later on
non of the others that i heard of stated anything other then some stating that no new rom updates would be made for older devices at all
the only official version of 2003SE there is in chinese
and have been altered by ppl on this site to be translated to english
thanks so much for the information, rudegar, you walking library you :

Can I upgrade XDA II 1.72.01ger to Windows Mobile 2005?

When I registered with this forum I was presented with a list of possible XDA II models that I could select that is used to indicate to others what model I have. Unfortunately my version is not in the list. Here are the specs:
R 1.17.00
G 1337.28
D 1.72.01ger (This is a german OS)
The OS doesn't say "Windows Mobile 2003" but rather:
Microsoft Pocket PC
Version 4.20.0 (Build 14053)
My XDA II has 128 MB of RAM.
I would like to know whether its possible to upgrage my OS to Windows Mobile 2005. The english version would be fine. I don't want the german version anyway. I've read a lot of posts but it isn't entirely clear whether it's really possible. Does upgrading only work with some version of the XDA II and beyond that version while not working for versions prior to it? Or can this upgrade be made to any version of the XDA II?
Can someone point me to something that would give me a strong sense of assurance that it is possible. Without this assurance I won't chance it. Last thing I need is a dead phone. The major reason I want to upgrade is to eliminate the problem of losing everything if the battery dies or is removed.
Thanks for your help.
yes
www.buzzdev.net
believe there is a german one too
Have you or do you know anyone who has *successfully* installed Windows Mobile 2005 on a version of the XDA II that I have or an older version in a language other than english?
if you go to the window 2005 forum in the himalaya group it's almost mainly users who installed 2005 on their himalaya devices
well that and ppl who did it on their blue angel too
"XDA II that I have or an older version in a language other than english?"
not 100% sure what you are saying here
if you by version mean himalaya or if you are talking about your rom version if the later rom version have nothing to do with it really
if you mean device as in himalaya then roms hare 100% made for a device windows mobile is not like normal windows
so the rom for himalaya is MADE for himalaya
and about language then it's a part of the rom only if you change rom you change language to the language of the rom you change to
