A bit of a newbie question, how do I customise the new text message alert in Windows Mobile 5 (jasjar). Can it accept mp3 files?

just put the custom wav file into the windows folder, and then you can select that sound from sounds and notifications within the settings area of the xda. Just select that sound for new SMS message

Nope, the new wav-file doesn't show up in the selection box... How did you do it again..?
ok my first Atrix I could do it. I can not find where to do it. It is only showing my the regular tones. What am I missing? Where can I put a custom ringtone for text message. I am using the standard text with the phone.

Here's how I do it:
Install GO SMS
Set the default notification sound in Settings (Android NOT GO SMS) which will be your email notification sound now.
Turn off notifications in the stock Text Message app
In GO SMS set the notification sound to whatever you like.
This way you have one sound for email and another for text messages.
Apologies if this has been addressed already, but I didn't see any posts about this. I want my SMS app to silence the notification tone when I receive a new text if I'm already inside the actual app. For instance, if I'm texting someone while inside GoSMS, right now the notification tone sounds while I'm typing and the other party is texting me at the same time. I only want the notification tone to sound when I'm not already in my SMS app, because it's rather annoying to get a loud tone to notify me of a text that I can clearly see already.
Similar to how the iPhone only sounds the notification tone when outside their SMS app, but does not sound the tone while the user has the SMS app open.
Is there a way to do this? Perhaps another SMS app that has this functionality? I've used GoSMS and Handcent and have not seen this option.

I've tried every possible way to get vibrate only on text messages without any text tone but I can't seem to get it. Is it possible on the Nokia Lumia 920 to have no text tone but vibrate only instead? If I sent my text tone to none and receive a text its not gonna vibrate at all unless I use a text tone. I don't want to switch the whole device to vibrate only I still want to have my ringtone on.
I do not think it is possible to do just yet. When GDR3 is released this will be a possibility, but u have to wait 4 it. Sorry.
Just go around the need to have a tone ... and create a silent one and assign it as the message tone ... then it plays, but does not make a sound ...

How do u assign a custom message tone in WP8? It cannot be done.
Sorry about that ... I thought that the ringtone maker would allow the ringtone to be used for the SMS alerts ... and you are right, there is not an obvious way to get a new SMS alert loaded on the phone ...

I'm searching an app to convert a simple push notification into a full screen notification (like an alarm), but I can't find any app that do that.
For instance, my home camera notify me when it detects motion, but the notification is normal, like when you receive a WhatsApp message, I have so many notifications...
I want to be able to select what notifications (really important ones) should be converted into alarm type notifications
Don you know any app that could do something like that?

Something like... when this notification is received set an alarm 5 seconds after actual time
Or... when this notification is received launch this app (a custom app only displaying a message and playing an alert sound)
