I have a BT GPS BLuetooth and an XDA IIi device. I can pair the devices using the standard 0000 code, but it displays with a ? on my device (even though it said pairing sucessfull).
It should also say "this device has serial support, would you like to enable?" however it doesn't display. It worked fine on my Windows 2003 XDA II device, but since I now have the XDA IIi deviece with WM2003 SE it doesn't work.
Could someone please advise, its driving me nuts.
Many thanks in advance.

I am looking at upgrading my GPS system to a PocketMap system using an Arkon Powered Multimedia Windshield Mount Kit w/Built-In GPS using Xtrac V2.0 Ultra-Sensitive Firmware. Does anyone know if 1) the plug into the bottom of the Siemens SX56 is the same as on a XDAII and 2) do I need to do anything to my Siemens SX56 software, rom, firmware, etc. to use the program? I'm not real knowledgeable about this stuff and the unit that is being sold is listed as compatible with an XDAII phone. Here is a link to the web page. http://www.pocketmapstore.com/pomuwimokitw.html
Thanks for your help guys/gals.
Stacey
I think most of the pda's mentioned are xscale processors which is the later arm chip. I would check with seller first. I have the same arkon mount and the noise from the speaker as a result of rf breakthrough from the radio on xda and xda 2 is unbearable, I dont know if mine is faulty or maybe they changed the design.
I sent them an e-mail, but no response and unfortunately I don't have enough knowledge of this area to understand your response. Other than the noise issue you are having, are you saying that it will probably or probably not work?
Help
I am new to the XDA II, i just purchased a bluetooth GPS device Polstsr PBT111, offered as working with XDAii usual story.
The device will pair without any problems.
However any attempt to open a serial port, nothing happens(except the odd unit reset). A LED on the unit is supposed to come on steady instead of flashing. The supplied software for PDA tester does not open the serial port. Are there any ways to configure a serial port on the XDAII, this seems to be the problem?( like system manager on a PC). I have pocket PC2003 rom version 1.03.00 USA
I have contacted the supplier and manufacturer but as yet no reply. I may have a faulty unit, but without another unit to try or some sesible ideas I am a little stuck. Any help gratefully accepted.
I think you have to install BthTools : http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
or upgrade to 1.72
OS prior to 1.72 don't allow to choose a serial port to a bluetooth connection, that's where bthtools comes in
Thank you for the info, works a treat.
Next challenge is upgrade the ROM to 1.72?
I would definitely recommend an upgrade to 1.72 OS and 1.17 Radio, especially when you want to make use of Bluetooth.
mikecheney,
I can confirm 1.72 and the Polstar BT111 work fine for me with TomTom3 using just the supplied MS BT stack. Just had to pair the devices, then TT picks it up using its own 'Bluetooth GPS' config. pm me if you're having any grief.
1.72 provides the COM4/5 option for bt which was greyed out before in 1.66. This is part of what edsub refers to. With 1.72 you don't need Pocket Bluetooth Tools.
You can upgrade the ROM at the o2.co.uk xda home page.
cheers,
Alex.
Pharos Bluetooth GPS Receiver
Hi!
It looks to me like this is what I need.
I just purchased a Bluetooth GPS Receiver (iGPS-360) from Pharos. The problem is that I couldn't get it to work on my XDA2.
Do you think upgrading to ROM 1.72 will solve my problem?
If so, how do I upgrade to ROM 1.72 ... I need step-by-step instructions ... any links to it?
I'd appreciate your help

I'm not sure if this has been answered yet, but has anyone attempted to load the XDA IIs onto a standard XDA II?
I'm aware that the IIs has a keyboard & wireless, but apart from this the unit is technically identical, and I suspect that the drivers for the keyboard & wireless will just fail to load, even though the ROM's are specific to each device.
dont even try it !! you will kill your machine! The ROMs are NOT compatible to each other. A IIs will not start with a II ROM nor the other way round
hi all,
i just bought this devices but i am not able to pair them. i also tried to pair my motorola HS820 to my Nokia 6230 but without success. Does it mean that the blutooth headset is not compatible with those devices? btw..i was able to pair my Qtek 9100 with TomTom Gps without any problems! i'll appreciate your help and thanks in advace
Are you using 0000 as the pairing code when asked? I have the HS850 and it pairs with no issues.

Thanks marka2k for your reply i did something wrong that's why it didn't pair but now it's working well
Does the Xda II work with bluetooth speakers? Where can I find them?
Bart
It supposed to, but I never tried it. in some cases the xda II needs to be soft reseted after pairing it to a new BT device. Good luck.
id think so
