hi ppl,
today I ve made rom with the romkitchen, it was 2003 final and everything went ok, phone was functional until I used to try to install some newer versin of the programs I previously included in the rom. That didnt work (of course) so I decide to put another rom without those programs so I can install newer versions but when I run the romkithen exe computer report
in the dos window
error getconnectiontipe - unspecified error
error getting connectiontype
and the program for the patching report that he is trying to get the data from the device and after that he reports that
"cannot execute the remote communication program, please make sure that the usb/serial cable is properly connectes"
of course cable is connected, device syncing with the active sync and the icon is green, used to try to soft reset pc and pocketpc, to hardware reset pocket pc, to connect it to other pc and patch there, to install active sync 3.7.1, to reinstall active sync 4.2, to reinstall usb drivers on the pc, to put sim card and sd card out and to patch then... nothing helped...
what can I do ? is that due to the windows 2003 instalation on the pocket pc (had same version on other wallaby without the problems) ? can I solve that some way ?
I ve read before that patching can be performed from the SD card so I found the xda tools and osi image tool but couldnt found rom nd1 file anywhere (was stupid and didnt make copy of my previous rom)... which rom can I use just to enable USB connection and after that I ll patch it with the "normal" rom from the rom kitchen...
Ive checked those roms http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ROMVersions but didnt find any nd1 file in the files I ve checked, can I use those roms with osi image tool eventually ?
which one ?
Lots of questions ... Sorry people ...
I can use it in this condition too but I d rather have an opportunity to flash it to some other version maybe.
Best regards to the community !
I think it´s just the problem that the ROM prohibits flashing via EXE-file. You have to flash via SD-Card.....
You find the ROm to write on the SD-Card in the EXE-FIle. Just extract the exe using winzip, and then you will find it in a subdirectory (normally english, or dependent on the ROM-Language...)
Stefan
Thanks a lot Stefan, so I can use some ROM from the page http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ROMVersions ?
Any advice which one should I take please (Im not using any of the operators noted there, just looking for some rom that will function ok) ?
Thanks m8 !
Yes, you can take any rom of it. Mostly the T-Mobile prohibits flashing via EXE-File, but Flashing via SD-Card is more secure in my opinion. So i´ve done 99,9% of my flashes via SD-Card, and you can believe me, i´ve done it a lot of times.....
By the way, which software has to been updated in my romkitchen?
If you give me the hints, i could try to update them....
Stefan
thanks a lot for your time and advices Stefan !
Its not a huge problem but probably we share same opinion - most of the tech guys like to see that everything work fine, if something doesnt work then we re not satisfied.
Basically problem is that I included spb pocket plus in the rom and therefore I cant install spb weather which demands pocket plus v 2.5+ and version in the rom is 2.0. I cant upgrade it coz its in the ROM, used to try to remove it from the registry but no luck, used to install latest spb diary coz the spb weather also work with the diary but looks like that the first thing weather perform is checking of the pocket plus version and if the version is not 2.5+ it stops the installation...
Probably for the most of the people spb weather is not a reason for loosing couple of hours in trying to change rom in wallaby but as I ve mentioned I like the things that work 100%, if some electronic/computer stuff work at 99% that usually bother me. Stupid - I know but thats the way it is.
Im going to patch it thru the SD, thanks again for the all your efforts now and before.
GL & HF !
Sorry...
Still need help, using the OSI tool I copyed NK.nbf file from 4.02.04_eng rom to "XDA SD Card Slot -unknown size" - coz I dont have card reader/writer at the present moment so I tought that I can put the file via the cradle connection while the card is in the wallaby...
Checked the card from the wallaby file explorer but nothing is on the card, since I had expirience with direct writing to c64 and amiga disks writing I assumed that file could be written directly to the card without OS instructions but after the reset of the wallaby it report that card shoud be formatted to become writable... Is that normal, or I should wait for the card writer reader to put the file properly to the sd card ?
If possible please help me with the link for the OSI tool patching, I cant find it anymore, checked thru the site but no luck, dont know what I have to press so the wallaby read the rom from the sd card.
Thanks Stefan & all others
success !
No help needed, I ve made it...
So dont have any fears as Stefan told unpack the rom from the self extracting archive and run osi tool, in the source field set nbf as a file type and then select extraced rom.
As a target you can set card reader/writer and also you can put the SD card in the wallaby as I did. Set the XDA SD card as a target in that case.
Its normal that after the writing (no message that writing is successfull, when it is finished OSI tool will stop) SD card become unreadable to wallaby.
Then perform actions as noted in SD card patching info
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby_HT_FlashSD
Hold the power button and soft reset. You'll be taken to the below screen:
SD DOWNLOAD
Card Type:
CE OS & BOOT
Press action to Download
Or
Press REC to Exit
Press action to download and it will start the download/restore from the SD card.
Follow the on screen instructions once its "Completed" which will consist of a " Hard Reset"
Action button mentioned above is middle button - "D PAD"
Works like a charm, now I have o2 win 2002 and later I ll patch it to 2003 SE again but without pocket plus.
Thanks Stefan and community !
The file "xx" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate...
I keep getting this error whenever I try to open a couple applications, like Navizon, HTC Home Customizer, MS Live Search, and a lot more (but googlemaps and a few work just fine). Anyways I flashed to a DCD 3.0.1 rom I cooked... I added a few apps from the titan kitchen by copying the OEM folders into the DCD OEM folder and it all went pretty fine....
has anyone ever encountered these errors? I think I'm gonna have to cook a clean rom with just the basics and have to install everything one by one again unless someone knows what to do..
I had the exact same problem.
you didn't include the .NET framework in your build.
re-cook with that option selected, and those apps will work.

Did this ever get resolved? I am having the same issue with Garmin and I know I have .net installed
if you are installing to a memory card, try installing to main memory... that worked for me with MusicID
Bump having this issue helpplease
trying to install or try some different Radio cabs I keep getting this error few other programs as well fairly new so I am pretty confused. oh this is is on My Kaiser Tilt though was hoping not to have to start a whole new thread.
getting the same error message
i keep getting the following error message
"The file 'xx' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file."
every time i do a soft reset all my installed programs get like this, and i have to reinstall them for them to work. This only happens to the applications i've installed on my own, not the ones that come with the phone.
if there is anyone out there who has a solution, please let me know.

SOLUTION!!!
Most of the cases this is not a CERTIFICATE problem-
if you go to your file explorer and look for the PROGRAM FILES directory you will be surprise -
actually this happens when you install cabs on the storage card - those apps write temp files all the time - so when you take out your SD card - those apps continue writing this temp files -
in the bottom line = go to your device and rename the FOLDER storage card to storage old -
now you will see the icon for your SD CARD next to the name STORAGE CARD 2-
the last thing is to remove the SD CARD an re insert it again - now you will see that it return to its original name (STORAGE CARD) .
enjoy
Thank you mate, same problem here solved with your help
uZardWebP
I m not able to rename the storage card to storage old pls help and i m getting the same error message with uzard web browser.

I've just finished successfully flashing an unofficial WM6.1 ROM to my StarTrek (Cingular 3125) using only a microSD card (no data cable, no ActiveSync, no Windows) and the brilliant work found on this forum. I thought I would share the details of my success in the hopes that it will help the next person who stops by, since I myself found it difficult to find a definitive yes/no on the matter here.
Requirements:
HTC StarTrek
I had the Cingular ROM; Any should work.
microSD card
IMPORTANT: Your card MUST be using FAT32 for this to work. If it is not already so, back up its data and do this now. (Windows will show a FAT16 volume simply as "FAT".)
AppUnlock tool
The one linked at this post is good. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1146363
The ROM you wish to flash
I used the WM6.1 Standard ROM posted here by Erofich, since it is most appropriate for a Smartphone such as the StarTrek. You can also use the Professional version, though it is intended for use with a touch screen, so you will have to control a cursor with physical keys.
A computer you can use to extract and place these files onto the microSD card.
After you've obtained the listed files and have them extracted somewhere on your computer, copy the following files to your microSD:
SurrealNetworksAppUnlock.cab (Anywhere)
The entire SSPL directory from your extracted ROM download. (Anywhere)
RUU_signed.nbh, found within the RUU directory of your ROM download. (Rename this to STARIMG.NBH and place it in the top-most level of your microSD card, not inside a folder.)
Insert the microSD into the device (the door is located beneath the SIM card). Using the File Explorer (or Total Commander, if you have it), move or copy the three contents of the SSPL directory from your Storage Card to the top level (/) of your phone.
Find the SurrealNetworksAppUnlock.cab file on the Storage Card and run it. It should install like any other application, and you will notice a change to your Home Screen wallpaper.
Using File Explorer again, navigate to the top level (/) of your phone and run SPL.lnk (36 bytes, if this helps you distinguish which file to select). If all goes as expected, you will see a white screen, followed by a message telling you to press the top Volume button to proceed. Do this, and it will flash your new OS to the phone.
I hope I've offered a clear and helpful explanation of this process. Enjoy your now-renascent StarTrek!

Funny, I was planning on re-flashing my 3125 via SD card, but I could not find where I left the instructions. I did it many times a few months ago while trying many ROMs, but I could not recall the exact procedure. Then I come to XDA-Devs to search for the info again and find your post sitting there right on top. Thanks, you saved me lots of time.
I'm currently using Erofich's (pArtizAn's) 6.1 standard ROM as well, but wanted to try out Erofich's PRO version for kicks, and maybe retry GnatGoSplat's clean ROM (I found I'm not using Mobile Office , which the Clean ROM leaves out.)
Ideally, I wish there was a way to install certain WM-Pro only applications on WM-Standard, so that I don't need to change to a touch screen centric OS just for a few applications.
BTW, anyone find and use the HTC Network Setup tool to configure the phone for use with U.S. AT&T service. I want to avoid having to manually set up the data settings.
Freakin awesome, works like a charm, now I can flash my phone with the broken charging/sync port. Many thanks...
Hello. I done all steps of this instruction, but can't flash because the message which invite you to press volume button does not appear...
You should repeat the instructions very carefully. Are you sure your SD card is FAT32-formatted, rather than just FAT (FAT16)?

I actually have no idea; What I've posted here is all the experience I have in this department.
Hope you get it figured out!
P.S.: Erofich has a new ROM posted in this subforum; You should check it out if you plan on flashing.
Hello all,
I have found WORKING little app to save CABs from MarketPlace. You can download the app here:
http://blog.idlezone.org/post/2010/01/11/Windows-Mobile-MarketPlace-:-choose-where-to-install
(use fixed version posted in the comments of the article: http://blog.idlezone.org/public/DarkApps/DarkCABCatcherInstaller_quickfix.CAB)
Awsome, thanks for posting ! =d
Thank you So So So Much
Will
Works it also for paid apps?
doesnt work for me.
Awsome, How do you work this thing.
When I run DarkCABCatcher, I have set fom folder to \.\Application Data\Volatile to \.\My Documents.
The DarkCABCatcher application shows the following:
MKP5C5036.cab OK!
MKP5C5036.cab installed.
MKP5C5036.cab started.
MKP5C5036.cab copy Ok.
When I look in my \.\My Documents folder there is no .cab file collected.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Richard
Thanks !
I never used MarketPlace yet, but just in case, I'll keep that trick handy and try it.
I don't understand their position on "piracy", since I generally only use free software...
When it's not free, I buy the licenses, but since I'm flashing a lot these months, I really doubt MarketPlace would recognize my device next time I log on, so this trick may be unvaluable... Just to keep access to what I had legally bought.
Thanks for this, but unfortunately on cooked WM6.5 portuguese ROM it doesn't work. I confirmed that I have NetFW3.5 installed so I don't know what's wrong:
What a pity - don´t work at all on T-Mobile Vario V (HTC TouchPro2) with Windows Mobile 6.5.
Sometimes it write the cab is copied - but can´t find it in the destination folder.
Sometimes it just don´t show anything.

WeT-Klb
Cool app, didn't work
The critical thing this app shows is where the temporary CAB files are downloaded when installing from the Marketplace app.
Just open this folder in Windows Explorer while the phone is connected to your device. You have to turn on "view hidden and system folders" to see the folder on your phone.
Wait and watch the folder during the install. It will create a CAB file, which will get an icon as soon as the file is finished writing to the device. Quickly copy the file off the phone onto your computer.
(I have installed z-zip and associated CAB files with the program, which is why I get a nice icon as soon as the download has finished.)

Hi,
I tried asking in the RunDroid thread, but as I am considered a noob I am not allowed to post there...
I've been trying to install RunDroid 2.3.1, but when selecting my Storage Card root (called Speicherkarte in german) in the directory treee, RunDroid says it cannot find a valid android installation. The root of the storage card is where haret.exe, zimage and so on are located, so this is definitely the right place. I am running FRX07 on Topaz.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Hi,
I did try to install into italian device (HD2) but with same results.
As Storage card has different name according with language I could see installation creats a link into start\programs that is not pointing to correct link.
I just copied from \rundroid\ the application and pasted into start\programs.
Rundroids starts but no Os is available to be selected, I only have blank list.
Abt Android version try theese:
