I am having some terrible problems after upgrading my Himalaya from 2003SE to Windows Mobile 5. First of all, Camera has gone completely haywire, it will not respond to assigned button, and it will also not zoom by the resolution hence giving some really bad pictures...
...Anyways, on this forum, i found solution to these problems ( ) which involved an upgrade of ROM so i downloaded the files and tried running the 'himupg..' file...
...Here it asks me to connect the PPC to USB after a soft reset, so i did tht...but, then it always says tht updatecould not be completed ...please try again...
...It has happened more than a dozen times, someone please help me on this issue...possibly it could be because of my limited knowledge of flashing PPC ROM's...

Hi.
I was running on Crystal V4, now I decided to upgrade to Crystal V5. Without knowing about new WM6 upgrade method, I downloaded tha package with Crystal V5 and run the ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe, which was included. After that I learnt that I cant run EnterBootloader.exe, so I searched forum and learnt about new way to upgrade. It would be fine, but I came a cross with a problem I didnt expect. After I finished flashing with ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe, I see just red, gree, blue and while line on my phone + SPL number and writing USB on the bottom.
Now ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe or HardSPL.bat are saying that no deviace is connected and I cant do anything else!!! It means there is no change after soft reset, no change after hard reset. Still the same schreen on the phone and message on PC: "no deviace connected"
What am I supposed to do??
When I removed the USB cable and pluged it into different port, WinXP says that it found an PocketPC deviace. So the connction should be established.

Did you try reset you device by holding 'Camera'+'Wireless' buttons? Once it gets into bootloader mode, attached the devcie to PC again and run the ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe. It sometimes help...
Yes, I tried it a few times. Now Im downloading RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID.exe and praying it could help...

It seems God exists, I flashed into WM5 now.
Anyway, Im still unable to run HardSLP.bat (it says system cant run some file...)
I wasnt able to run it cause I was trying to do that while I had wellcome screen on the phone. It is necessary to manualy allow HardSLP.bat to run a file on the phone, thats why phone has to be running and prepared.
My problem was that I flashed Crystal V5 without doing HardSLP, thats why it didnt work. The RBG screen I saw was actualy bootloader.

and sorry if its such a newb question (dont burn me for it)
i have an o2 atom exec (using RC3 rom with touchflo) and yesterday i /soft reseted/ the phone because it was acting funny, after the reset it would be stuck at the startup screen and would not load past that the whole day, so i waited and re-tried in the evening.. the same thing occured... i was at the time able to load into bootloader (MN2) but then could do nothing else.. so i searched throughout the forums and found a post by 'chartreux' http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1684559&highlight=EBOOT.NB0 but had not read the entire post and proceeded to load (mn1) onto my phone via mini sd card and it worked, my phone was working again, it performed a hard reset and restored it to factory settings (ie: calendar, msgs, contacts, software all gone) and phone is working normally again... since it has done this i wanted to update to 'wm6.1 atom exec rom' just to be up-to-date and have synced it via activesync and have run "DSUU" but my phone just restarts and loads the current rom i have installed! and just repeats everytime i have tried (have tried atleast 50 times)
so my main question.. is my bootloader dead? i know my phones not bricked since its still working perfectly im just not able to upgrade my ROM but can still do everything else (such as browse through files, run programs, make calls)
and last of all.. can anybody please help?! as i am at the point running the phone over with my car!
and once again am sorry for the stupid question.. =/ and thanks for hearing me out!

what version of your bootloader now? MN2 or MN1? if still MN1 please read again the thread to update your bootloader to MN2 (since your device is ATOM EXEC).
and after done, please check when you run DSUU, see on the left bottom whether have a drop down box or not? if yes then choose "ALL"

try to downgrade again your bootloader to MN1 (please do it step by step). as long you can secure your bootloader, hopefully you can resolved your problem.
remember to upgrade again to MN2 once you able to downgrade to MN1 before try flashing to wm6.1.

still cant access bootloader.. even when trying DSUU it just boots straight into the operating system, when trying to update and also i tried the MN1 bootloader again and tried to get into it... still nothing.. it just resets, i tried it with my 4GB mini sd, 2gb msd, and a 64mb mini sd.. could not get into it... sigh...
Ok try a deep breath and read all the posts on dead boatloaders and other upgrading problem posts through and through. Then try to change ur USB cable and what system are u using i.e XP or Vista????

im just annoyed i cannot upgrade to the latest 'rom' and since my phone 'had' to perform a hard reset why not update so yeh.. and i am using windows xp for my computers os.
Did u change the USB cable mate, once I had to do it and the interesting thing is that the same USB cable was working perfectly for other things but causing problems when connecting to my Atom Exec.
yeh tried it with my old v3 cable didnt work has the same outcomes.. sigh.. i might try that dead bootloader hardware and software recovery from this post by Alex_Beda & 1stMASTER

You just try the DSUU with upgrade "OS" only and not "ALL".

Actually i have the same problem, i tried to get into the bootloader by press and hold camera + reset button it just restart and load the WM
Dead atom exec
My atom exec having problem ( dead ), so after press camera reset sw my atom can booting normaly but touch screen function only for entering password and then touch screen not response anymore. I check the system information by touch the button (manualy) but IMEI not ready and Radio not ready.
Pls someone can help us.

I've tried to search to see if anybody has ever encountered a problem like this, but my search was in vain.
I was trying to upgrade ROM, I successfully load SPL 3.5, before it I was running AP dual 3.0. However after the installation the device rebooted and the started auto customisation. It installed SDAautorun and then SDConfig.txt but before this one completes, the device reset itself. It restarted and do the same process again and again, just restart and restart.
I tried all types of resets and I even tried to reinstall other roms that worked with the device before but nothing is any good. This is because when the device boots it load the SPL 3.5 (Windows mobile 6.1) instead of installing the ROM I'm trying to install.
I get a chance to do so as the device can still connect to the computer and it stops when it prompts to callibrate the screen (tap four corners and center of the screen)
Please help me if there is anything I could do to start using my device again. I appriciate any support in advance. It is very possible that I've messed up something somewhere but please once again do help me, even if the by telling me that my Ameo is a brick that would help me to know what I've got to do.
NB: My device is T Mobile Ameo (Athena, Advantage X7500)
I have got an spv m3100. I have allready upgrade it to wm6 with your help. It has been working fine for over a year now but last knight it gave me a lot of problems so i decided to flash it again. I am tring to connect the ppc to the pc with active sync but it doesnt. I have tryed it to 3 - 4 pcs but no luck and there for i cannot flash it. I also did a hard reset it reboted install all its programs by it self but it still doesnt connect to the active sync.
Any help how to flash it from the biginig pls ??

Mate, install Hard SPL V7 (if you haven't already ) and use the sd card method to install roms...
Go to page 116 post 1160 of this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
for the sd card method to install Hard SPl. To use the sd card method to install a ROM, drop the steps with sspl.exe in them - I believe its steps 5 & 6.
Make sure the sd card is 2 Gb or less, formatted FAT32 and the .nbh file is named hermimg.nbh.

Ok after i flashed in the morning it started working fine for a period of time and then it started the moves again. What it actually does is that the phone is not working the device boots ok with the programs but the phone is not working at all and if it does whene i try to make a call the whole ppc is freezing.
I have tried the hard spl that you provided and i flash it. All ok. Now the problem is that after all the reboots and the freezing to get the phone working the system crash and i tried to flash it again to wm6 the one that i had for over a year now. It reboots the ppc perfectly and i can see in the three color the hard spl ok version 2.10 but when its upgrading to wm6 it freezes to 12%
Any suggestions pls

sounds like your radio rom has been corrupted. You can try to flash the shipped stock rom but it may be a permanent brick.
To check, go to settings>system>device info. Check you have a radio rom version and protocol version. If you don't then you have a brick on your hands, sorry...

Here is what i did after trying and messing around with the softwares of the ppc i decided to check for once the hardware like you said about the ratio. I basicly took the whole phone apart to pieces and cleaned it with alcohol and a brush, dodnt know if its the right way but i have to tell you that it worked. It stop give me troble with the phone it starts perfectly and works perfectly except for sometimes that the sigla goes off witch it shoudnt. With the hard spl that you provided it looks a little bit faster too and i am very gradefull.
The thing that remains is that from day one that the problem started the battery witch is new it ends really quick. two days ago before the problem it could last for 2-3 days but now it last bearly for one .
Any suggestions on this?

Just remember that 3G uses a LOT of battery power when in an area that isn't very good for it.
If you flashed a new rom that is using 3G (also check which radio you should be using) and you were using the GSM network before, it could be this that is the problem.
I myself am finding that the battery is going REALLY fast at the moment as I'm working in an area with bad reception. The radio has to work harder to keep signal strength so the battery is consumed fast.

Seams I have done a stupid thing,
I have flashed a SPL 3.5 ROM (TAXIS ATHE100_WWE_96_192_4.SS.TX_WM6_1_b21041_1_6_0) onto my X7500 Dopod (U1000 phone) that only had SPL-v1.20.Olipro inplace!!!
(I was testing a few ROMs stored on my hard disk and picked the wrong one to flash!)
Now every time I start the phone I have to re align the cursor/stylus (which probable indicates a major problem!), and I don't like this ROM for lots of reasons - it probably suits someone else just fine but it's not for me
I can still connect to the X7500 with Mobile Device Center (MDC).
But when I try to re-flash any other ROMs (those that previously worked with SPL 1.2 the day before) using a USB cable and MDC, after 30 seconds or so it fails with ERROR 260 CONNECTION error on MDC, but the cable is good! During the process the phone starts to reboot, the screen is messy (bad video driver or something?) and then it launches the already installed TAXIS Windows Mobile to be Aligned again!
I have see some other issues that have a bit of similarity to this but cannot find a solution.
Any comments would be appreciated. I've only had the device for a few days. Is there a workaround to recover this. I think I can access folders and copy files to the device from MDC although I have not tried this.

You can try the sdcard method if the device still have SPL 1.20-Olipro ... Read the wiki
Thanks for the suggestion... I will give that a go. Though for some reason I can no longer get the tri colour screen anymore. I recall now that I left the sdcard and sim in when I initially botch things up and have since read that causes unpredictable results. I can still launch win 6.1, but it re-initialized ever time I start up and I have to re-enter data. Not good, almost but not quite a brick!
