Working with Vivi2.00v 64WWE I used a try-version of Sprite backup for WM5. What happened: Qtek2020 freezed and after a reset the RAM has gone (and with it all the installed programs). Does this sound familiar? Is there a way to get it back without a hard reset? Please help.
I think some files missing,
if you don't want to Hard Reset, try installing this
Buzz_Lightyear RAMdisk 64
Thanks for the reply, but I already did a hard reset. The RAM disk was present with all it's programs left, so the test is succeeded: it's hard reset resistant Now I'm installing all the programs back

Anybody help me, please!
After I tried to use i-mate ROM 1.72, I realised it had some big bugz that causes when U use/install some kinda' applications it freezes totally and when you want reset your device the XDA2 doesn't boot the system, and you just see the bootimage and booting stops. It happens accidentally not depends on you at first sight.
Ok, I thought, I restore the system after a hard reset from my SDCard with XBackup. But after restore (XBackup said: "restore is complete") that freezing happend again. Just the bootimage, not more.
That's why I downgraded the ROM to O2_1.60 and tried to restore my backup file on SDcard created by XBackup. It worked, but it has another problem: after restore process xda2 can't see the 'Storage' and 'Extended_ROM' folders although after hard reset it seemed.
In the registry (\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Storage Manager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC & TRUEFFS_DOC2) everything is normal and values the same than before the hard reset.
So, anybody has an idea what's happend and how can I get to visible this two folders ('Storage' and 'Extended_ROM')?
ROM 1.66
aNOTHER THING:
Has anybody the ROM1.66 in english language?
Can you put it here or give me a link or an ftp site where I can download it? I've been searching for it for 3 days and I can't find it anywhere on the net

Welcome to the club... I have the same problem and NO ONE knows whats wrong... I used Sprite Backup...
I gave up and trying to live without that freacking 16 MB Storage
My current rom is Qtek 1.72
And rom 1.60 won't help it...
I have the same problem. After upgrading to 1.66 my "Storage" disappeared. How do I get it back?
Hi,
I spend hours on searching a solution for this in the registry... The only solution is to perform a new hard-reset en re-install everything manually...
Sam
Me fixed mine flash that rome which you had during backup, mine was "T-Mobile 1.6.06 rom" and then restore your data.. everything back to normal
Hey guys, I have just upgraded my rom and found a couple of downfalls with the new version.
1) the extended rom tools to unhide and unlock no longer work - extended Rom now seems inaccessable
2) the internal memory area called 'Storeage' has disappeared also, leaving me with 16k less memory than I had before the upgrade!!
Any ideas how we can get these back??
I don't think it is to do with the ROM upgrade specifically.
Have you installed any other software?
I had this a couple of times a while back whilst I was experimenting with different ROMs and BT stacks, doing backups and restoring, etc.
Have you tried a hard reset?
Also, look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=10473 where other people had same problem.
Thanks for the info; your'e right:
I checked the other thread you mentioned, and have given it a go...
If you perform a hard reset my device with the new rom has the storeage available and the extended rom unlock tools work again. Restoring a backup and they both disappear.
Looks like I am going to have to rebuild my system :-(
I suspect that restoring an old backup replaces lots of windows related files and registry settings. I tried to install the fonix voicedial from the ext rom post-restoring and it claimed i had the wrong ROM version!
So yes, a rebuild is necessary
Certainly seems that way. Oh well, good luck!
Running new upgrade over unofficial upgrade
Just being lazy here - can you just do a hard reset and run the new 02 update over the 1.72.126 ver. as it says wrong version when you attempt to run it from after a normal reset (incorrect language error)?
Cheers,
Ste G.
As a general rule it is never a good idea restoring a backup over a different ROM version - bit like restoring a W2K backup over an XP install. That said, the latest version of Sprite is supposed to be ROM upgrade safe.
I always use the opportunity to clean out all the crap by doing a full reload - bit like the twice yearly Windows rebuilds on my PC.
Today I was trimming out the windows dir. without knowing what files are needed and what are not, anyways to make a long story short my explore is not working and I though installing Netfront would restore my explore back to normal but it didnt, is there a way to extact some files from the ROM without reloading the whole OS again?
You should just do a hard reset
pof I deleted everything in my extended rom dir. do I need to put them back before I do a hard reset? one more thing is there a easier way to do a hard reset, I can seem to get my timming right and it only does a soft reset.
System->Settings->Clear storage
After an compulsary hard reset, how can I recover the 60+ apps. laying in my memory card and bringing them to the normal use in Programs??
Last time I had an hard reset I went to the WEB and downloaded again one by one.
I'm sure there will be an easier way, as they are all "smiling" to me at the card and calling me stupid!!!
Help, please.

use AppBrain for Android...
Use shortcutcreator http://www.bolognini.it/swpc/index.aspx won't work for all your apps
Best way to do it:
Get SKTools and SPB-Backup
BEFORE hard reset: do a thorough cleaning of temp files (SK-Tools Autoclean) and then a registry optimization (SK-Tools)m then backup Your device with SPB Tools (full backup)
THEN hard reset and restore with SPB-Backup.
Many thanks to all of you for prompt help, but (why there is always an but?):
-Spyderman33 : AppBrain is only for Android and my HD2 have WM 6.5
-Westwood01 : only transfered 3 apps. and after blocked
-Troed : Your receipt is for programmed hard reset-Before... etc, etc.
Anyway, tks again and I'm going to redownload all the apps.
if they are installed to your sd card then you just need to make a shortcut to the actual program (.exe) theres no need to reinstall.
won't work for all but will work for most.....
Recently I upgraded my HTC ROM from 1.66 to 3.14, followed by restore operation using SPB backup to restore all programs installed from v1.66. However I discovered that almost all of my installed program icons on the Marketplace are not correctly display, it showed the icons from other programs. The program icons on my phone is correct. I did try to uninstalled, clean up all residual files from memory, registry key clean up, then installed again, problem still exist. Anyone how idea how this being resolved? Thanks..
ahknow have you hard reset your phone after upgrading? Because thats what usually what happens after you upgrade your phone. i had the same problem earlier when i upgraded, but after hard reseting my phone every thing work and display properly.
You mean power up again after upgrade? Yes, I did but same problem happen. I have not done any factory reset, that will wipe out all my programs....will be my last steps if no solution coming...
Managed to figure out the problem. Need to clear the "Cache" contain.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders]
This is the default:
"Cache"="\\Windows\\Profiles\\guest\\Temporary Internet Files"
