Tom Tom Map? - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hi can anyone help?
I bought a XDA last year on ebay from XDA-Developers, with tom tom software, all was working fine until i tried to update the speed camera database last week. I downloaded the new poi's and then activated Tom Tom on XDA. The tom tom now states that there are no maps?
I have bought a disk with tom tom 5 software on and tried to reinstal on to XDA but it is still not working. The Tom Tom was originally stored on memory card. Can you buy the memory cards and will this solve problem. Really need this to work as travel loads and loads at moment. Thanks for reading Craftus..........

Can u explain a bit more in detail that what have u installed & where (which folders) have u installed.

Hi,
I have reinstalled tom tom five of disk, but the tom tom is not activating, i think i may have caused more damage, as it kept stating that there was not enough memory on storage card, i deleated the duplicate copies to free up memory but still not working, tom tom is on PDA but not activating. Thanks for your reply
Craftus

First of all ur SD card must be BIGGER than 128mb, bcs TomTom5 takes approx 140mb
No u cannot reinstalled TomTom on a previous installation on ur PocketPC, if u have done so then, uninstall TomTom from PPC (all the files starting with "TomTom" name)(should be 4-5 files), takeout ur SD card and format it on a normal mode (not Quick Format), but u have to connect ur SD card to the PC directly (not via PPC cradle), u must have to have a card reader to do that.

Once u finish formatting the SD card, put it back to PocketPC, sync on cradle with PC and now install TomTom again.

Thanks, i'll give it a try

SD Card doesn't work

Hi there,
I have an O2 XDA with the Qtek ROM (not the official O2 ROM). I have just bought a HAMA 128 SD Card. In my laptop's SD reader it works fine, but nothing happens in my XDA. In the settings / memory / storage card section in pocket pc 2002 it says NOT INSTALLED. Anyone who has an idea what the problem could be?
Please help me out because I want to install my TOMTOM software
Thanx
Michael
download this SD card tools , and reformat it ON the xda
http://www.softwinter.com/downloads/storagetools/StorageTools.ppc300.arm.cab
Thanx for the tip my friend. I have already solved the problem in a different way. My father had an SanDisk 128 MB in his camera, i am now using that one, it works fine, the HAMA SD works fine in his camera also.

Lexar SD-Card 256 MB doesn't work
Hi,
I've just bought a Lexar SD-Card with 256 MB, but my XDA didn't recognize it. It seems that no SD-Card is loaded. In my PC Card-Reader and a Camera it works fine. I also have no problems with a Traveller 128 MB-Card.
Also the StorageTools mentioned before didn't see the Card :-(
What can I do? Is the old XDA (bought 1 year before) not able to work with 256MB?
Thanks for your help ...
Frank
i'm not sure if its the sd cards or the xda itself!
mine sometimes dont recognize New cards unless i reformat them.
but mine also sometimes dont see my SD-CAMERA card!
after repeated re-inserts, it works fine. then stops again.
so im realy not sure What the real issue here.
however... since the cards work fine on a pc
re format them on a pc.... fat16. and try.
i hope someone else out there has the solution for us.
good luck.
Seems that the Brand SanDisk works perfectly. Other brands seem to give troubles sometimes. That's what i have experienced.
Good luck!
Michael

something dodgy found regarding SD cards?

Hi,
I upgraded to the 4.01.00 build of 2003. I decided after a bit that I missed the stuff I could add in from the kitchen and also for some reason when I tried to install something to the SD card it would just create a cab file on the card... So I manually started the cab installer from the location and it automatically installed the software into main memory?
I went back to a new brew of yorch's kitchen using 4.00.16 with hopes that this would be resolved...
I dont seem to have any problems accessing the SD card.. the data is transfered over fine... although I set Activesync to use the sd card it only ever copies the cab file and then shows the program not installed.... if I go to the SD card I can see and run the cab file copied over by activesync... but it only copies it to memory
I thought cab files installed relative to your current location (i.e) you run an install from the SD.. it gets installed to the SD.. run it from the main memory and it gets installed to the main memory.. etc.
But I'm totally confused as to why activesync refuses to install anything onto the SD card itself.
Has anyone else recieved this problem? know how to fix it? any ideas?
currently it appears I can only use the SD card for music/files or whatever I want to store rather than install other programs...
cheers for any help,
Ian.
I would uninstall your current version of activesync and install version 3.7.1. If you have 3.7.1, I would do a reinstall. It sounds like the issue isn't your SD card or the ROM that is loaded.
upps, on my XDA I everything works fine ...
I mean installing software to SD card and running the software from SD card, others things are not that smooth .... but the above mentioned is ok
I do use WM2003, version 4.0.21 T-Mobile ROM
regards,
monika
Just thought I'd add how I fixed the problem...
I stopped using this
http://www.iliumsoft.com/site/fg/dockware.htm
everytime I hard reset my device the first thing I'd do was install 3 programs...
Iliumsoft Dockware Pro
Tillanosoft Small Menu Plus
Omega One Battery Pack 2004
On that build (4.01.00) of the ROM Dockware would pretend to install by activesync... but it wouldnt even copy over or anything...
After doing that, the rest of the software would follow straight into main memory whither I asked it to or not.... the exception to this case was a few programs like Resco explorer and a few games that did install to the card.
Everything else just copied the cab files over to the sd card.. and then when you installed the cab files from there, they went into main memory.
So.... I hard reset the device and didnt install DockWare at all.... every piece of software installs fine now without a hitch...
Strange huh?
MOTD: dont use Dockware on later builds of 2k3 heh

TomTom 5.21 install

This morning I received my new 2Gb miniSD card for my new Wizard.
I copied everything across from my old 1Gb SD card that was in my Blue Angel after formatting the miniSD to FAT32.
When I insert the miniSD into the Wizard the TomTom install screen pops up for a couple of seconds with the rotaing windows square thingy in the middle of the screen, then stops.
The same happens if I click Start in my Storage Card folder, or autorun in the 2577 folder on the storage card.
Anyone any idea why it isn't installing?
Its a legit version of TomTom btw, and runs perfectly on my Blue Angel (even if I put the miniSD into the adapter and insert into the Blue Angel it works fine!).

Sounds like it may have a missing file or something. I installed mine via miniSD card as well without any problems. Maybe when you reformatted the card something got erased or something...
Does anyone know the max size card this phone will handle? I would really like to use a 4GB mini in it if possible!
Thanks

Hmm, if there's a file missing how come it works on my Blue Angel no problem?

you have to run cab files in the 2577... It should work now...
It may be because you already had the app installed on your blue angel (if I read your post correctly).
I don't believe any actual 4GB minisd cards exist. I remember reading about a couple of HoFo people ordering them from Ebay & getting burned.
Installing from the cab files worked...
but a few hours later the Wizard hung up completely and wouldn't boot (stuck on the Windows Mobile screen for hours!), so I ended up doing a hard reset.
After this I downloaded the 5.21 installer from the TomTom website and installed that - job done! That installed perfectly from my PC, and my standard GB mapped no problem.... just got to iron out a couple of other issues (see my other posts re TomTom) and then I'll try to activate my other maps and traffic services on the Wizard...
Cheers,
-FM
I have Qtek 9100 and TomTom 5.0. I had to install manyally the cabs and then copy the voices to the device to make it work. I guess 5.0 just wasn't officially compatible. 5.21 is, so that should work just fine. I also upgraded to 5.21 after manual install 5.0. Both versions are working ok for me.

Help ! Installing programs (TomTom) to memory card

I'd be hugely grateful for any advice anybody can offer :
A couple of times now, I've inadvertently allowed my XDA to completely discharge it's battery.....when I recharge it - I have to go through the process of re-installing my programs (esp TomTOM navigator).....
Does anyone know of a way to install the actual save the actual TomTOM program (not just the maps) to the memory card ....... so that the next time this happens - I can just re-install from the memory card without having to root around for the cd's and re-install using my computer ????
Many thanks
normaly when one install over activesync it ask where the prog should be installed and sugest main mem as default
in a dropdown box where sd storage is an option
dont know if thats the case with tomtom though

HD2 killed two of my 8GB MicroSD?

I have two 8GB Sandisk MicroSD card killed by my HD2 (i think so). Anybody faces the same prob? The cards are totally dead now after using it in my HD2 for a few days...
No such experience.
Good to know the Bland and model.
You mean brand?
Try to format it on your pc...
I had the same Isue.. could not format it on xp pc only on windows 7 pc..
mos of the time if you let you put it in your card reader and its recognized.. you just have to let it scan for errors and let it fix them..
Sometimes my cardreader fails to detecet my card. I don't think this is related to my HD2, atleast I don't hope so.
Not had it...yet...on my sandisk 8GB MicroSD. This is the one straight out of a Nokia 5800. The 2GB one which cam with my HD2 went tits up after I tried to import a playlist from WMP onto it. Seems I'm not alone with this issue either...
For the first time I can report a problem with my HTC HD2.
I also seem to have a problem with my 8Gb Scandisk card. It seems either my telephone or my laptop screwed the card up.
I have standard stock last rom available in Holland manilla 2.5 Rom 1.66. No special things installed.
The card works almost 100% except when I go to the tap music. Then hell breaks loose. The phone looks for the music files. But cannot find them and then suddenly the phone cannot recognize the card anymore? I have to restart the phone before it can recognize the card again. This only happens when I go to Music.
But the damage is done anyway. Cause when I insert card in laptop or computer. I can see the files but according to the computer there empty (which is not the case). I cannot copy or cut while in card is inserted in the computer.
I accepted this problem cause I have a good working TomTom on it which someone else installed for me. If I format the card I cannot put it back.
Try to format your card, I did this from my laptop (if it can reorganize it) and NOT chose FAST. Becouse if there is a problem with the card it will simply skip it. This is also a golden rule when you install new OS on a old or well used laptop.
Copy the tomtom folders to a folder on your PC before formatting, then copy back...done
I have a 8GB Sandisk card, I've had it on 3 plones now, using it for about 3 years, still works like a charm.
To the OP, maybe you got fake ones, Sandisk is the most counterfeit memory card brand, if you got them on ebay or so and not in a respectable street shop they might be fakes, for which that kind of failures are typical.

I have this problem, and I went back to HTC. I got a new phone replacement and everything is fine thereafter. =)
I had a problem with 3 different Kingston 8GB cards.
Statred working fine, but after writing more then 2GB to them, they suddenly died.
I tried all of them in the phone and in a card reader, and they acted the same way.
As a final test - I used a SanDisk card, and it works just fine from the time I got it.
So - maybe, you just have defective cards ?
Did you try formatting the cards in the phone and not in the PC ?
I have the same problem. If i put the files on my sd card from my pc there seem to be no problem. After I check these files on my phone, they are damaged or the folder is empty. So.. anyone has suggestions what to do?
Same experience here.
8Gb was working fine the first two days (the card that was included with my HD2)
Then, for no reason got a pop-up (invalid card type, do you want to format?)
At forst I said "no" and tried with my computer... None of the 6 software I used could save my card. Was definatly dead.
Put a second one in (1Gb, just to make sure), it's been a week, and I already get errors when I write. It's like the micro SD is on read only (though ther's no switch to set it back to "write mode")
One of the many (many many many) bugs of my HD2
i had the same problem. the 8gb SanDisk microsd card that originally comes with my htc hd 2 is now useless. lost a lot of pics, cab & songs. it can't even be read by card reader on my laptop. is this some kind of bug?? now im using another 8gb card & hope it wont happen again. im glad though that im not the only one having the problem
And i thought i was the only one. My 8GB only lasted for 1 day before it went died. Had to get a replacement from Service Center. The staff seem to handle it in a very fast manner (guess i am not the only one to get the SD card replaced recently!!)
My guess is i did a hard reset on the phone with the SD card in it. Anyone else did the same thing?
My card has been corrupted twice no the HD2 leading to:
1) Very poor performance
2) Very warm phone
3) Very fast draining battery
I believe it was due to the power saving features enabled to do with the microsd as someone else mentioned on this forum.
its a manufactures defect. something should be done. lots of users are getting this problem now, including me
maybe i know the answer..
sorry for my bad english..
I've the same problem. But searching from all forums, finally i get the answer. just find n download EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard Proffessional 4.3.6 (for 5 MB). Insert the mmc in card reader, use this software to recovery all the missing file (choose Complete Recovery Option). After recovery process done, use software LLFTool (for 600kb, just doing some browsing at google) to Low Level Format the mmc (this LLFTool can recognize the mmc). After all done, Windows can recognize again the mmc at windows explorer. Just right click and choose quick format (format FAT32). Done, you can use the mmc like the new one

thanks for your help. i tried your solution but it doesn't work. neither the EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard Professional nor LLFTool detect the memory card. i think there's nothing to be done for the card. just hope htc will sort that out
I have also recently had an issue with my 8gb Sandisk Micro SD card.
It has been working fine for a while now, then yesterday when I went to pick up my phone, I noticed my S2U2 unlock screen was black instead of having my usual wallpaper there. My HD2 had just suddenly decided it can't recognise the card anymore and tells me I need to format it for it to be readable.
I pressed 'no' and tried to read the card on several computers as I wanted to transfer all data off before formatting it, but it would not read on any of them, nor would it work in my old N95.
I don't understand why this has happened, it has been working fine no probs, had about 3gb left on it still and have not recently installed anything on it - very annoyed as I have lost lots of recent photos of my 6month old boy which I cant get back now.
Have had to order a new card and hope this doesn't happen again, but not a happy bunny
