Dead XDA - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Hi,
I think I have killed my XDA. I was unable to charge my O2 XDA but otherwise it was working ok. I pulled tha back off and changed the battery but still it would not charge. i then dismantled it further and noticed that the small fuse near the connector was open circuted. i thought about bridging the fuse to see if it would work. I haven't done that yet, but when i put it back together nothing works at all. The screen is completely blank and when i push any of the resets nothing happens at all. This has only happened since dismantling. I have sinced checked all the connectors. Everything looks ok but still i get no response.
I have a bit of experience with electronic repairs but can't work out what has happened here.
Any help would be appreciated. Has anyone else had a simmilar problem?
Dale.

You have to hard reset. I have this problem. I click hard reset. Now Xda is working.

I have similar problem, or even worse.
I have a dead XDA. My boss gave it to me to fix it last wek. When i try to hard reset. There's a colourful image on my XDA1 that said wallaby bootloader V.522.
There's a quite big font on the left down the screen that says "WAIT"
Then there's a message GSM ERROR.
Then my Xda1 goes dead, again.
What should i do ?

You could try this:

There's something supid about me, indeed.
when i flashROM via Sd card ... here is what i did :
Cook the ROM then name it as Nk.nb1 file
Run osimagetool
Select Nk.nb1 from the Source drop down menu.
Select SD card (disk drive) from Destination the drop down menu.
Select Copy to start writing process and the tool should start writing to the card.
When XDATools has finished writing the image (no Infomessage) put the SD-card into the device
Soft reset the XDA, but the XDA1 still hang and the SD card inside is not recognized (the screen is frozen at white display and the keyboard icon on the right bottom)
Hold the power button and soft reset.
The display shows the bootloader menu V5.22 and then stops at GSM error message
Press the left upright button (contacts button). Theres menu that says
flash tools
===========
ce rom to SD
boot to SD
ce + boot to SD
gsm rom to SD
ce = gsm to SD
I chose one of the options, then ...VOILA !! my SD card is formatted... LoL
Need yout advis... where I went wrong.
Thx

What for SD-Card writer are you using? Looks like you have problems writing the ROM-Image to your card. Otherwise it should detect the ROM for downloading to your device by itself. You can confirm this by entering bootloader and backing up your existing ROM to SD-Card. Then reenter bootloader, now you should be able to flash Yor Rom....

My MDA II died after ROM 1.60 upgrade

Hi guys,
I need some serious help here. Today I tried to upgrade my MDA II with the latest 1.60 ROM. Somehow during the upgrade something went wrong and my computer frooze and needed a reset. This was in the beginning 10 minutes of the ROM upgrade and my the screen of my PPC went off. After the reboot of my workstation I could not get my MDA II to connect to my workstation. The MDA is completely useless now. The only thing I have on the screen is:
Serial (or USB) on top of the screen (with no backlight) and at the bottem of the screen Version 1.01.
I can't soft reset of hard reset. I took the battery out and waited for almost 30 minutes but I still can't turn the thing on nor can I soft or hard reset. I can't thing of anything else that I can do and I just sold my Loox yesterday so now I'm lost!
Anybody with a good suggestion??
Please help.

I think it's a way to use a SD-card with a Rom on it.
Looks like Your bootloader is still working and can reflash a rom to Your device.
Now You have to find somone with an 64MB SD-card to put a rom on it and reflash Your device.
With best regards
Jens
Hi Jens,
I think my bootloader is not working anymore. I tried to do a hard reset a dozen times but the bootloader menu doesn't come up. But thanks for suggesting though.
Wouter
Hi wouterk,
I don't know if this would be of any help, but you've got nothing to lose now.
I've got a similar error that the RUU program asked me to remove my XDA II from the cradle and right after that, the XDA II screen freeze at "Seria 1.01", same as yours.
So I put my XDA II back to the cradle and from my PC, I clicked Control Panel > System > Device Manager > and here my XDA II was recognized as an unknown device, so I updated the MS USB Sync driver.
After the driver update, I rerun the RUU and the ROM upgrade went fine. Now I have my XDA II back alive and kickin' with the new MDA ROM. At least this works for mine and hope it would also work for yours as well.
HTH.
Hi Joparp,
Of course I gave your suggestion a try. But too bad it didn't work for me like that :? . I remebered that when my workstation crashed, after the reboot it found a new USB device (my cradle?) but I couldn't get your sollution to work for me. But I still have hopes. Tomorrow evening I'll meet a guy who can fix my problem (keep my fingers crossed....). So I feel reasonable relaxed now.
It is nice to see that so many people responded to my problem. I posted my problem on three different sites and many people responded. That was a nice feeling! I keep this thread posted about the result of tomorrow.
B.t.w did you install the 1.60 ROM eventually?
Wouter
Hello wouterk
well, i'm sorry about this and i guess the safest way to do ROM update thru SD Card.
i do agree with jenson suggestion and i can't see any other way to resolve this problem which i hope will work here are the steps as follows :-
ask any one who has MDA II device, 64MB SD Card and SD Card reader to backup his/her ROM and Post it for you somewhere where you can download it and write it to SD Card.
ofcourse he/she if using Windows will need serial cable and hyper terminal software which normally can be fount under start/programs/Accessories/Communication otherwise download from http://www.hilgraeve.com/htpe/index.html
get the device into Bootloader Mode ( power button+any direction+reset )
Connected via Serial cable and use these setting 115200 baud, 8n1, direct to com1 port or maybe com2 it depends on which port they use
type d2s command to backup ROM to SD Card which i recommend 64MB SD card formatted and when done you will see something look like this
D:Waiting for card insert.........
SDetected one card
SD:ready for transfer OK
Total card size=3D40000ze=0
SDCARDD2S+,cStoragePlatformType=FF
********************************************************************************
***********************************************
Store image to SD/MMC card successful.
SER>
then reset the device and get SD card reader and insert this card into the reader and use ntrw image reading and writing tool
if you don't have it you can download it from here http://www.tamiminet.com/othman/ntrw.exe
from the command line run ntrw read MDAII.nb1 E:
This assumes your SD card reader has drive letter E:
now you will have new file which is MDAII.nb1 it's about the size of the SD card zip it and post it somewhere so he/she can Download it and unzip it then write it back to SD Card using this command b]ntrw write MDAII.nb1 E:[/b]
again this assumes your SD card reader has drive letter E:
when done go into bootloader mode ( power button+reset ) with SD card inserted, hit camera button and flash your device with rom which is on SD Card
if you don't have serial cable you still can do it using Linux with cardle and thanks for bio and few other cool guys who mentioned this hints on other thread
put your device in bootloader mode
connect via cradle
use any terminal (minicom) to connect to the used port (/dev/ttyUSB0)
- you should see something like 'USB>' or 'SER>'
put an SD Card into device
type d2s on command prompt
wait untill you see Store image to SD/MMC card successful
i don't think this will include the Applications on the Extended ROM but no problem this can be done later.
i hope this could help to get back you device to life.
best regards and good luck.

It is working again!
Hi guys,
Thanks to Akira my MDA II is working again. Everything is working again exept for the bluetooth communication with my Emtac bluetooth GPS. That problem still remains in my case. I even did another hard reset but still the same problem. I then put the Towa fix again on it and now I can use my GPS again.
So thank you all guys!

SX56, problem during rom update

Hi
Started program - found SX56. Message "Upgrading - will take about 5 minutes"
on pda. Then it said that it had a problem with the USB or COM connection, and
to fix it in device manager. I opened Device Manager, and checked that all the
USB and COM ports were enabled, which they were.
By this time, the unlock software and ActiveSync had stopped running. The pda
was still stuck on the "Upgrading - will take about 5 minutes" screen. Since
the configuration has changed, ActiveSync will no longer recognize the device,
and will not sync with it. Your software will not connect until ActiveSync does.
All that comes up is the "Upgrading - will take about 5 minutes" screen. there
is no other functionality to the system.Hard or soft resets make no difference.
Active Sync doesn't work. The PDA has changed its configuration, so active
Sync doesn't recognize it. When I plug it in, Active Sync sees something, but
can't even tell that it is a pda, and I can't even set up a new connection with
it. let alone use the old connection.
Can anyone help? is there a way i can reinstall active sync or is there another way to fix it? please help
You will need xdatools, sd card, card reader/writer and rom file from kitchen for sd card flashing. Unzip the rom after download, start xdatools on your pc, choose the unzipped rom file as source and the drive letter for your sd card as destination from drop down menu, once the card is programmed insert sd card to phone, push reset while holding power, when prompted you then push the action key which is centre of 4 way rocker buttons. Once flashed push the unscrewed stylus into hole next to headphone socket, push once only, wait one minute push once more, this will work as long as you dont have a problematic version of bootloader on your phone. Good luck.
System is entirely backed up onto SD card. Can't use SD card. Can't use PDA.
PDA is still stuck on "ugrading - will take about 5 minutes". It apparently has
no operating system in ROM. No difference with hard or soft reset - comes back
to same screen, no function in PDA.
HELP PLEASE
I think you misunderstood, a normal backup is no good, you need to program an sd card with a new rom, when this is placed in your xda and soft reset it should reprogram your phone with a new rom. You are correct when you say it has no rom, the method I described should restore your phone to a working machine. You do not need a rom to reprogram using bootloader/sd card method, try it and see.
You will need xdatools, sd card, card reader/writer and rom file from kitchen for sd card flashing.

Okay, so can I basically use the newest ROM which also unlock the device too?
You will need to use either xda developers special edition rom to unlock or include the unlock program from the kitchen in a 2002 rom, you can then upgrade to wm2003 if you wish, you cannot unlock under wm2003 so you must use special edition or kitchen rom based on 2002 first.
I am sorry if i keep asking you questions.
I do have the xda special rom, ive tryed using it but it caused the problem i do have right now.
i did download xdatools by jeff. i cannot run them though.
Could you describe step by stef of what i need to do.
i.e. do i need a complete NEW ROM, or can i just transfer the xda special rom to my SD card and then run it to restore my device?
But i guess not, else you wouldnt have explained what i need to do.
Thats the error i get when i try to run xdatools. (I dont understand the install note)
"INSTALLATION
From the source + exe distribution copy OsImageTool.exe and itsutils.dll
to the programme A directory as created by unpacking
jeff's-exe (http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/) to a directory in
your "Program Files" directory. Then run 'OsImageTool --register'."
IF you unzip the files you already have both of those files in the folder.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP
You have to install ActiveSync.
You can get it diretcly from Microsoft for free....

. I was able to locate the NK.nbf file. I ran the XDA OS image tool, to put the OS on the sd card, from the NK file. That apparently succeeded, but it is hard to tell. After loading the OS, when I take out the sd card, then put the sd card back into the sd card reader, it can no longer read the sd card. I can format the sd card again, using my camera, so the sd card is not destroyed.
Wher I put the sd card in the SX56, there is no problem, but there is no success.
Pushing soft reset alone does nothing. Pushing the power button alone does not turn the machine on or off, and does nothing.
Pushing power and soft reset at the same time, gets me the “Wallaby Bootloader V5.15” screen. It first says “wait”, and then says “GSM OK”. It then does nothing else, and doesn’t prompt me to do anything else. If I push the action button, I get “DIAGNOSTICS GPRSA 20324e4”. From there, I can scroll up and down, and test the RAM, Display, battery, USB, etc – all items tested seem OK. There is nowhere to go from here – all it does is test the pieces.
After that, if I push the hard reset (the one that disconnects the battery), the power goes off, and the screen is dark. This is the only way to turn the machine off at the moment. If I push hard reset again, it comes up with a screen full of lines, with two blank holes in it (see attached file). From there, none of the buttons do anything, except hard reset (which turns the machine off again), or soft reset + power, which brings up the bootloader screen again.
have the siemens ROM. It will not work with the cradle, because it cannot find the pda if Activesync can’t make a connection, and loading it onto the SD card does nothing new – both results are exactly the same as with what described above.
any suggestions?

Major Problem with XDA

Hi all, first post from an XDA newbie - be gentle!!
I've inherited an 02 XDA from my brother as it's not working & he's upgraded.
I'm trying desperately to get this thing to work. He installed the xda-developers Special Edition ROM V1.2 (according to the front screen - it says in red in the bottom corner 3.17.83 , it also has a red G and R above this)
It doesn't seem to hold a charge very long, which suggests the internal battery is dead. I've read about the light in the top right corner of the unit - I've never seen this lit except once when it went red for a few seconds.
When its sat in the cradle, it seems to work ok. I've checked the Version etc, and it reads:
ROM 3.17.03 ENG
ROM Date: 5.15.03
Radio Version:
Protocol:
I want to reinstall the XDA ROM to see whether it works with the "official" ROM.
I've tried to do a soft reset, I get the stripey screen with WALLABY BootLoader V5.22. After the WAIT sign, I get GSM ERROR, which ties in with the above Version Info in that there is no Radio Version number?
When I press the Action key, I see GSM turn ON Please Wait - then after waiting I get GSM turn ON fail!!
Can anyone tell me how to do the following:
1) Get the official operating system from the o2 website onto an SD Card
2) Get the XDA to boot from the new operating system
I can see from the 02 website that there are 2 downloads, RUU and RSU. I guess one is the OS and one is the radio unit (gsm settings??)
I have a laptop with SD Card reader built in, and a blank 256mb SD Card.
I apologise for the length of this posting, but I have no idea what I'm doing really! Any advice / help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Steve
PS - also tried a hard reset, but first press switches off the unti, and it stays off after the second press - HELP!!!!
YOur GSM Part is corrupt.
Flashing a new ROM wouldn't solve the problem....
Try this:

Stefan
thanks Stefan.
I read the link, how do I install the ROM to the XDA unsing SD Cardreader & Bootloader?
Sorry for the obvious questions - I appreciate your help!
Steve
this is just rom though not radiostack
Ok here you go, its a little outdated but its what I still use:
Qman's how to use XDArit to write nk.nb1 or nk.nbf to your SD card aka the Bootloader Method!
1. Place XDArit and the nk.nb1 or nk.nbf file in the same folder and start XDArit.
2. Select your SD card (disk drive) from the drop down menu.
3. Select Write to SD
Notice that the Windows CE box is already checked so just click the browse button at the end of that window.
4. Select your (nk.nb1 or nk.nbf) image and then Open
Notice by default XDArit will open looking for a *.nb1 file but if you're going to use a .nbf file you'll have to manually change the "Files of Type" to *.nbf
Notice that nk.nbo / nk.nbo was automatically added as your boot-loader and its check box is unchecked so leave it that way and click OK. XDArit should start writing to the card.
When XDArit has finished writing the image put the SD-card into the XDA and hold the power button and soft reset. You'll be taken to the below screen:
SD DOWNLOAD
Card Type:
CE OS & BOOT
Press action to Download
Or
Press REC to Exit
Press action to download and it will start the download/restore from the SD card.
Follow the on screen instructions once its "Completed" which will consist of a "Soft Boot/Reset".
Click to collapse
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Wallaby_HT_FlashSD
Thanks guys, you've been really helpful.
I'll report back when I've tried to do all this stuff.
One more question - I've only got a 64Mb SD Card, is that big enough?
ALSO - in the instructions it says "Select your Rom Image from the Source drop down menu. "
Which file is the ROM image?
nk.nb1 or nk.nbf
and yes 64MB should be enough
The mystery deepens -
I've put the SD Card in the card reader, but when I use XDATools, i can't select the SD Card as the destination for the ROM image file.
I click on the Removable "E" drive in the Explorer style layout, but it's almost like the tool is wantingme to select something, but i don't know what!
FYI, the SD card already has some data on it ( I took it out of my Dads Digital camera!) Could this be the problem?
Thanks

Wallaby O2 XDA Flashing

Hi,
I have an XDA O2 (Wallaby) which I got from a friend of mine who used it without a problem in its life and now I am stuck with a flashing O2 XDA.
Let me try to best describe my problem.
I had copied some of my excel files onto the O2 and then I had a distinct feeling that it had gotten to be much much slower.I am not too sure if this is the cause.
I was not using it as a phone but one day I slipped in my SIM card so as to surf the net and it just would not connect via GPRS and after that it had become very slow hanging every once in a while so I did a soft reset but it still was slow and the GPRS would not connect neither did it detect my phone service provider.I used to surf prevously through GPRS without any problems.
Then I did a hard reset and it just wouldnt work after that it would start with the blue O2 screen and begin to flash on and off with a blank screen with a small keyboard icon in the lower right hand corner presumably the affected excel file....I think my XDA has a virus now please help me out from here.
I tried doing a hard rest and I depressed the reset button on the RHS side that's it(smaller hole bigger one for soft reset) Once I press down with the smaller end of the stylus I press it again then the blue screen with the O2 logo comes to life it stays on for sometime and then a "tink" noise comes and the busy sign comes as if it has just opened an application ..a blue small band on the top most corner and a small keyboard icon on the lower rhs hand of the screen then the screen begins to flash ten seconds apart for quite some time...infact that all it does before shutting down and restarting all over again.
Is there any other way to do a hard reset. What is the right way?? as on one of the forums said that I should depress the power button and the soft reset button at the same time for about 5 sec I tried the hard and something called the WALLABY Bootloader V5.15 came on the screen with the message 'WAIT' after a couple of nail biting seconds I got an error saying GSM ERROR the screen was a clourful white red green and blue strips....what happened??
Then I proceeded to depress the soft reset button it restarted with the usual error of a program being opened and the screen flashing..
Hope to get a reply from this forum.
Take care
Ciao

Hi,
1st off thanks for your reply....
I have downloaded Programme A to upgrade my rom but cant seem to get it loaded onto the SD card. I unzipped osimage.exe and tried to store it from my PC to SD card but cant seem to do it....furthermore I was advised by friends out here not to be a braveheart and venture to kill my XDA but still I'd like to try...you see I'm not to conservant with the software bit and I'm only a end user...
Could you give me a step by step guidance to get the software loaded to the SD card via a card reader and then flashing the rom..
Hope to hear from you....
Alvin
flashing from sd card
Firstly make sure u have winzip winrar or some other compression software on the computer then right click on the programme A exe file and click open with whatever compression program u have i use winrar so i will say open with winrar. You now need to extract all files into a folder.
Once you have done that open up OSimagetool and on source browse for the folder u just extracted the programme A to and look for nk.nbf, you will need to tell it to look for nbf files and not nb1 files , which is the default and select it,it is in the english folder. In the destination u need to select your sd card which should be in a card reader as u cant program it directly to the XDA or via the memory card, once you have done this click copy. when that is finished you need to take the card and place it in the xda and do a cold reset . A screen will appear saying SD Download click the action key on the pad to commence flashing. after a few minutes it will inform you that it has finished. remove the sd card and Cold boot again then once the wallaby has rebooted back to your bootloader screen soft reset it,ignore the gsm error now cross your fingers while you wait to see if it reboots. If it reboots ok set up activesync again and run the radio upgrade. By the Way any info on the sd card should be saved before attempting this as it will be overwritten by the osimage tool. Also only the xda can read the card , the pc will say it needs formatting Good luck
Any Luck
Did you have any luck reflashing with a new rom almaal?
I have followed the procedure. The system rebooted and I got the GSM error which I ignored and continued the process. The system rebooted properly i.e I get to see the start menu and the calendar, but the device does not get detected by activesync. Another thing to note is that the system has become terribly slow. And although the backlight is switched to on it the device keeps on flashing. What do I do now?

wallaby xda flashing
format the sd card then and copy the radio upgrade over to the card. not as an exe file almaal, right click it again then extract files and copy the files over , if u have a cab file including then just use file explorer on the xda to navigate to the storage card and click on it and it will install. If not then click on the rsupgrade.exe. Hope you have more luck with this than i have i had . Good luck

Not charging I think
Hi I dont know what to make of it but now my wallaby came to life with the rom that I flashed but it seems to have gone crazy. Let me best try and explain.
1) The green charge light does not come on when I put it onto the cradle or plug it directly for a charge.
2) It does not make any sound, no beeps no nothing....but when an mp3 is put on it plays
3)The back light does not come on which is enabled but does not work I have to work with a dark screen...is there a brightness control which can be adjusted...its like its on power save mode or something..
Now its back flashing the O2 screen again its become terribly slow and unstable and I have to do a constant reset. How do I know which is my ROM to flash, I've flashed the R.30.07 ENG Rogers (4700 kB available) from http://www.romkitchen.de/WM2003/form.php.
I somehow feel that my O2 is not charging
Can you make any sense of this ..
Alvin
Hi
And another thing is that I trird copying the radio upgrade over to the card and then clicking on rsupgrade.exe. The upgrade fails at 1% giving an error as follows:
Flash Failed!
Press ok to restart your device.
What could be the problem? and how can I fix it?
Thanks

Neilius you have obviously not been through this process, no offence, but as i have tried to ask with a few posts on here it seems when the radio upgrade fails the wallaby refuses to charge. Which i think is the reason the radio upgrade always fails at 1%. Unfortunately nobodys knows or is even interested in finding out why

I Need Help PLEASE PLEASE !!

ok my phone is HTC 8525, with WM 6.1 professional . It worked fine for 3 days then it start freezing , before it does that a blue background will appeare ,then it will not let me do anything at all . When I try to touch an icon, it will say something like invalid location or could not find target . I have to hard reset it. sometimes I have to reset it 4 or 5 times a day . , In addition, the mini card will freeze the whole phone is there is a solution like reinstall the whole thing ? please help me I truly appricat it . In addition, the mini card will freeze the whole phone is there is a solution like reinstall the whole thing ?
Hmmm, "the mini card will freeze the whole phone"??? Are you referring to the SD Storage Card? Do you have any volatile data stored on the card? Any Today Screen Applications?
If this is the case, try shutting off the phone and removing the card. Then place the card into a card reader, and plug it into your PC. Make a folder on the desktop of your PC, and COPY all the contents of the SD card to the folder.
Now, reformat the SD card in your PC, as FAT32, and default for all characteristics.
Once reformatted, copy all that stuff back onto the SD card from the temp folder on your desktop, making sure everything is returned to it's original locations. Pop the SD card back into your phone and see if it's fixed. Sometimes, corrupted space on the SD card will make the phone behave very badly. Hopefully, this procedure might fix it for you.
-pvs
Yes Sir, i apaologize , i was refering to the SD card . i am just tierd resetting the phone every 4 hrs . do you recomend any shops that can fix the soft -ware . i notices when i start the phone and i go to clean tmp it will say" 8 Fils and 4 folders of 656 Bytes cleard ! . then 5 hrs later the blue screen comes back
After doing what pvs said, and if you still have problems I'd check for bad blocks with MTTY... I would also ,after confirming no bad blocks, would flash a stock rom then reflash wm 6.1 and see if that helps... Cheers...
Wow , how to do all that if you dont mind me asking , actually i took the SD card out i am not in need for it at the moment . can you please help me to do what you said and i truly appreciat it , Great thanks for both of you gents
pvs already says what to do in his previous post...
To check for bad blocks follow this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377389
To Flash a stock rom you need to know what carrier the phone was on. Download the wm6 update from their site and, Making sure you have Hard SPLed your phone, I suggest flashing via the sd card method. Its safer than flashing through pc.
Format sd card fat32. copy .nbh file of the stock rom (you may have to search for it) onto the sd card and rename to "hermimg.nbh". Put back in hermes and reset to bootloader (power button, OK button above flywheel and soft reset with stylus. Hold all buttons until it goes to tri-colour screen). It should recognise the os flash and load up a screen showing 1st boot screen, 2nd boot screen, gsm And os (or something like that as cooked roms don't generally have the gsm part). MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AT LEAST 50% BATTERY!!!!! Follow the prompts... I generally use the sd card method to flash ALL my roms so I don't have problems like usb disconnecting or pc rebooting/hanging or power failures.
Hope this helps you out, Cheers...
BASELABBAS ... Please describe what you are doing when you say that you are "HARD-RESETTING" several times a day. Are you:
1) poking the stylus into the hole at the base of the unit?
- or -
2) holding down the two soft-keys WHILE poking the stylus into the hole until the confirmation screen appears, and then opening the keyboard and typing 'R' and then [SPACEBAR]?
If you are doing the first ... this is called a SOFT reset. The second is a HARD-RESET, and will wipe the phone clean of ANYTHING outside of what came with the ROM itself.
Since you have posted that you already removed the SD Card from the device, and can (for the time-being) live without it, I recommend you do an ACTUAL Hard Reset (backup anything you need to keep first) via step #2 above, and then be patient about installing any apps. I wouldn't do anything more than sync it up via ActiveSync with your contacts for the first few of days. If things start to go crazy without any third-party apps installed, then I would look into the steps that ultramag69 has suggested ... starting with a flash to a stock ROM.
WM6.1 has been a bit shaky on our Hermes thus far. Some people are getting good results, but a lot of others are having issues like you are describing. I would suspect that your ROM might not be a good match, before I'd suspect bad blocks at this point (and it's a bit easier to test for).
If the stock rom does better on your device, you can try flashing back up to a WM6.1 ROM after that. And if you haven't already, make sure that you have installed HARDSPL before doing any of this stuff.
Good luck,

Mr. pvs , I am doing the #2 holding down the two soft-keys WHILE poking the stylus into the hole until the confirmation screen appears, and then opening the keyboard and typing 'R' and then [SPACEBAR]. I tried to download Hard-SPL 1[1].10, when I open it on my PC it will give me instructions then when I press upgrade I will see 4 color screen the Sync icon will disappear and then it will say that it lost connections.

OK, well that's definitely a Hard Reset. So your WM6.1 Rom is acting flaky right aftwerwards, eh? I would say it's time to try a different ROM, as we've been discussing above.

No ... try Hard-SPL-V7.zip found at the bottom of THIS PAGE. I THINK you can flash it via the SD method if ActiveSync isn't working for you (if not, somebody please correct me). To do this, open the downloaded ZipFile with WinZip or WinRAR and copy the file inside named RUU_signed.nbh to your desktop. Rename it HERMIMG.NBH, and copy it to the root of your freshly reformatted (FAT32) Storage Card. Put the Storage Card into your device and press the side OK button and the power button simultaneously while resetting with the stylus until the tri-color screen appears and turns white. The device will find the HERMIMG.NBH file and offer to upgrade by pressing the Power Key. This will install HardSPL onto your device without the need for ActiveSync. You can also flash ROMs in this manner.
Again, good luck,

No, You need to run a file from the phone itself to install hard SPLvia sd card. You can find it on page 116 of the hard SPL or how not to brick your hermes thread.
Cheers...

Thanks for checking me on that, Ultramag. I had a feeling there was something I was forgetting.
