T-Mobile says you *must* have the GPRS or EDGE or Internet SOC enabled in order to get wi-fi on the T-Mobile MDA. However, without any of those extra SOCS added I can access my home Actiontec wi-fi and surf the Internet using my Internet Provider. In fact, I used to be able to drive around town and the MDA would alert me to every wi-fi broadcast there was, as I drove down the street. Now that feature has disappeared and I don't know why??? I would like to have those alerts back and be able to connect to other wi-fi as I'm traveling around town. Any thoughts?

I've been able to surf using T-Mobile USA's entry "T-Zones" GPRS plan with the 1.72 ROM on my XDA II... I upgraded to 2.06 and it no longer works. It says it connects to T-Zones, but then Internet Explorer fails on all sites with "Site not found."
Messaging and my IMAP account work, so it's not the connection itself. Is this an Internet Explorer 2.06 ROM thing, or a T-Mobile thing?? Did they turn off port 80 or something?
T-Mobile
T-Mobile has changed a bunch of stuff latley. They cut me off of my browsing, if you setup the proxy, it'll start working again. They started blocking unlimited browsing without going through the proxy.
Ah. I set the connection up again as a "work" network that connected via proxy, using 216.155.165.50 (for reference if anyone searches this thread), and I am able to surf.
Thanks!
Forgot to log in. :?
In T-Mobile's ongoing battle to make their "T-Zones" service different from their "Internet" service (for which they charge at least $15 more a month), they keep closing off ports.
I am still able to ssh over the POP3 and IMAP ports, however.
Maybe you guys can help. . .
I just upgraded to 2.06 and the Connection Wizard is different - where there was a place for "Number" and I had *9***3# to connect, now it's "Access point name:" and with the same characters it won't connect. I tried using the proxy as described above and it still won't connect. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks
I have a 8525 that I am using on the Cincinnati Bell network that I am trying to set up to use the IP phone (CBW Homerun)function, is this possible???
I think this phone supports it? I have it enabled on my account. i have my other nokia phone using this on my home wireless network. this is a real cool feature from CBW, it uses any WIFI hotspots to place voip calls that are not charged to your minutes, and the call quality is great in my house where i dont get very good service.
before i had my 3g internet running fine but my nephew got a hold of my phone and all of my T-Mobile Internet number and proxy is cleared. Does anyone know the correct T-Mobile settings for ACCESS POINT NAME and/or proxy server settings?
Also, my NETWORK MANAGEMENT is set to T-Mobile Internet then MY WORK NETWORK. is this right?

Not rooted. (Nor do I wish to root, if that was even possible.)
Use Nova Launcher for better desktop experience
StraightTalk on AT&T network. Indoors, usually shows LTE with 2 bars.
"Fully patched". LeEco EUI version 5.8.021S. (No LeEco Android updates available since 1/2017 as they pulled out of the USA market.)
Android 6.0.1.
Android security patch level January 1, 2017.
Handset worked fine for many months.
There was no obvious change or trauma to the handset (no drops, skills, weather exposure, etc.)
Lately, there have been data issues when WiFi is disabled.
(Everything still works with a WiFi connection.)
Not all features work with the StraightTalk/AT&T data connection when WiFi is disabled.
StraightTalk/AT&T data function details:
SIM card status
Signal strength -110 dBm 27 asu
Cellular network type LTE
Service status Voice: In service / Data: In service
Cellular network state Connected
Phone works (can make & receive calls).
Simple text messaging works (can send & receive texts)
MMC messaging works (can send & receive MMC texts)
(Ookla) Speedtest App works with good speeds.

Firefox browsing does not work "Secure Connection Failed The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."

Google Maps does not work "Can't connect to Maps".
Google Play does not work. When searching for Apps, "No internet connection. Make sure Wi-Fi or cellular data is turned on, then try again."
Troubleshooting steps taken:
Adjust AT&T APN settings used as per StraightTalk Tech Support.
Change out StraightTalk/AT&T SIM card with StraightTalk Tech Support assistance.
Factory/Hard Reset with reinstallation of all accounts & Apps.
Anyone know how to fix my web data issue? (Or know what further tests/observations to make?)
Hello everyone,
I have searched but have been unable to find an answer so I will ask the question
Is it possible to Prioritize a Cellular connection over a Wifi connection?
The main reason for this question is that we are running many Rugged android devices with a PTT application on them and when they connect to a buildings Wi-Fi network it can be congested and cause poor results. So we are looking to have the Android PTT devices connect primarily to Cellular and then when they drop Cellular signal as they head into a basement or a blackspot etc, it will search for a pre-configured Wi-Fi network and then connect it to until the Cellular network is available again.
Pretty much, we would like to know if its possible to get them to work in reverse. Prioritize Cellular over Wi-Fi rather than the default prioritize Wi-FI over Cellular.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Cheers.
