Hello, i've installed Tomtom 5.21 and the maps and everything is Ok. but i can't make the link between my gps reciver (Royaltek Star III) and the atom XDA. I've installed the partnership in the settings but it doesn't connect with the antenna. I've seen in my other pda (ipaq hx4700 and ipaq hx2790) that there is a bluetooth manager in the connection setting but there is non in the atom XDA. Do you know what's the solution ?

I've tried but i can't choose the port i want and if i choose another one, i can't find it in the gps settings in tomtom.
XDA ATOM to TOM-TOM GPS
ALTHOUGH NOT IDENTICAL, HP iPAQ rw 6828 settings as follow:
[SETTINGS]>[SYSTEM]>[GPS]
This gives you acess to [HARDWARE PORT]/[SOFTWAREPORT]/[GPS AUTO CHOICE]
On the Navigator, Look for Configuration >[NMEA]>Communication Port which should match Hardware port as set above.
BlueTooth COM7 OR 6
USB Cable COM8
SERIAL COM9
Also check the protocol while pairing, BLUTOOTH>[SPP]
Ensure your device is [Discoverable]
Ensure [PASSKEY] identical both sides.
Also under NMEA [SENTENCE] will affect how much data is exchanged each time your atenna poles, GPRMC/GPGGA/GPGLL are the most common.

tom-tom navigator works only with 8 bluetooth port... not with 6 or 7

Impossible, nothing's working. There's no connection between the antenna and the tomtom.
In Tomtom the avalaible ports are : com 2, com 3, com 4 and com 9
On the atom, bluetooth is in discoverable mode and i've created a partnership with the antenna. I've created an outgoing port on com 8 and for the incoming port in com0 because i can't choose com 2, com, com 4 and com 9.
I really don't know what else i could try

With PC2002, WM2003 and WM2003SE I had always the COM5 and COM6 ports for bleutooth. Now within WM2005 there is no longer the COM5 port. This port is nessesary when you want to connect to another device with bleutooth. In both version of WM2005 on this forum COM5 is gone. Does anyone know if this is a bug? Can we get it back or do we need to connect to a bleutooth device in another way?

I haven't been able to use The GPS settings in the System Tab... I have not tested fully to be sure that I can't though.
I have paired my BT GPS and checked the box to use a serial port. But which port is used? I looked into the registry and I cannot find anything. Normaly it should use COM5. But this one is no longer available on the device. I think whe should try to copy the registry setting of WM2003SE to WM2005 for the COM5 port.
The new GPS tool should do something like GPSgate. When you select COM0 on the first tab, marks that this port is used. GPSgate tell me that COM0 is not available. When I remove COM0 and select none, the COM0 port is again available for GPSgate. The problem is that COM0 is not defined as a COM port. You cannot select it. This makes the new tool unusable at the moment.
On tab 2 you have to select the COM port of the GPS. Strangely all the COM ports are available. Also COM5. What does that mean.
I have alse defined on the new third tab of the MS bleutooth settings that the outgoing BT trafic should use COM5 for my BT GPS. Nothing works. Does anyone know how to use the new functionality?
Just got a TomTom5 kit with Bluetooth GPS receiver from PDAMods.com.
Followed the instructions to set everything up, but TomTom still says "No GPS device!".
The XDA seems to connect via BT to the device OK, and the BT active light comes on on the receiver, so I think its maybe connection params.
The only step in setting up the receiver that I couldn't perform was changing the outbound COM port to port 8 in BT Settings as specified in the receiver manual.
I go into Bluetooth Settings.
Select the Services tab.
Select 'Serial Port'' as instructed.
Make sure Enable service is checked, authoriszation required isn't, and Authentication passkey required isn't.
Then I go into the Advanced options to set the ports and I can't edit them...
Any ideas? I need to use this this afternoon - in about and hour and 10 minutes, and have been struggling for 2 hours to get the thing to recognise the receiver...
I've already had to do a hard reset, and lost a load of other stuff off the device, because the Bluetooth setting seemed to get corrupted and i started getting a message about Bluetooth license having expired. That bit is OK now after the hard rest, but the receiver is still not recognised.
In the TomTom prefs I have gone into GPS status and hit the configure button. Selected 'Other Bluetooth GPS'., and hit the ''Bluetooth Serial Port 5" line (which is what the inbound COM port connection is set to).
According to Bluetooth settings my Inbound COM port is 5 and my outbound is 6. The receiver setups says these should be Inbound 5 and outbound 8.
Please please point me in the right direction.

try using cable
In TomTom try using the Other NMEA cable device (or somthing similar) - select the com port and set the baud rate (mine uses 9600 but you may need to try a few settings). I also ensure that I connect the device in Bluetooth manager before starting TomTom.

Don't tell me you haven't used the "outbound" com port setting .
The inbound/outbound name is nothign to do with data flow, it's whi instigates the connection.... the XDA does, so it's an Outbound connection you need to use.
Try Com6 (or com 8 .... whatever it was)
Once again, xda-dv forums members are stars!
That sorted it..
9600 and selecting the inbound com port (i think it was that one) made the thing spring to life..
now i know where i am going..

Is there a quick way to have TOM TOM connect to the GPS Mouse when TOM TOM is started? Currently I have to start blue tooth manager and connect to GPSlim236 manually.
Then run TOMTOM.
Also, in my blue tooth manager my blue device is listed as:
Holux GPSlim236: SPP Slave.
is SPP Slave correct?

Hi, my xda mini s only has bluetoth COM ports on port 6 + 7, however tomtom5 only recognises the IR, serial, and COM ports 0, 2, 3, and 9. I have tried the 'Other cable...' thingy, changed the BAUD rate, and generally messed around with it. Any ideas?
btw, i use a globalstat BT-359 receiver (bluetooth)

I have tomtom 5 on my Vario and have a BT GPS receiver that came with the copilot software.
I can't get tomtom to recognize the BT receiver. BT search on the device finds the receiver and it works ok with the copilot software. When I try to connect it using the tomtom software, I can't find the right port (COM6) in the tomtom settings, the tomtom website says choose other BT GPS and then it should have 'Bluetooth Port....'. Well it's just not there!!!
Any suggestions wpould be greatly appreciated!

I had the same problem, you need TomTom Navigator version 5.21 for it to recognise the BT GPS receiver.

(i only get the option of COM6 & COM7)
i cant seem to select the same COM port for both.... i i try it it says..... the com port could not be created please check your settings and try again

Just installed Tomtom 5 on my HTC tytn. The program "works", i have paired the gps and phone, but cant get the com ports right... Tomtom program just tells me to pair the gps/phone, and the only com ports shown in tomtom is port 3 and 7. But, i does not work to assign port 3 og 7 in the bluetoothmanager on the phone? Anyone who can help me?
Go to bluetooth settings then New outgoing Port and then choose one that allows you to define it in my case it worked with Com5. Then when you start tomtom again the port you created appears along with the others choose it and there you go
ok i just got a vpa compact 3, with herms 200.
its running wm6.1 custom, in the setting/system/connections tabi have an externat gps settings, when entering that i have the elusive com 9, can someone explain how i can configure this to be used with tomtom 6, as i also have this program.
G'day, when you 1st start tomtom it will take you through a setup prcedure. Miles or kilometres, time, etc.... It will also ask what type of gps receiver to use and after selecting you can choose what com port....
BUT first... I find it easier if you go to com manager (afte 1st disabling external GPS settings) and pairing gps receiver manually, then after it pairs, tick serial port. Go to comm ports (at bottom of bluetooth menu) and create a new one. It should list your GPS receiver.. Pick whatever com port you wish (please note that com 3 is "unavailable"). I use com port 4 with a lot of success.
