Will it work with this phone?
Don´t know it exactly, but i think, the memory and the cpu will be to low for running TomTom 6. There aren´t any specs for the requirements, but the compatibility list just starts with the BlueAngel / Magician.
Stefan
well, tomtom navigator 5 is running smoothly - indeed faster than the tomtom go devices !
You may overclock your wizard during running tomtom. And i assume that tomtom 6 will have similar requirements and should run smooth either.
But he has the oldest device (Wallaby). Don´t now how much RAM will be required for running correctly. If it´s just a 32 MB Version it could be hard to handle.
But why doesn´t you stay at the TomTom 5 you already have?
Stefan
Just wait and buy legal copy WHEN IT IS ON SALE of TomTom Navigator 6 guys... It is not that expensive buy... just leave one weekend without drinks and you have it
thanks

Legal aspect are all time welcome, but that doesn´t answer his question. If the software will not work with his device, he will have more from the money when he stays a weekend with drinks. ;-)

I just upgraded my rom version to version 4.20.0 (build 13252) because tomtom 6 would not run.
At this time a message appears with
YOUR DEVICE IS NOT COMPATIBLE with this version of Tomtom.
I guess the wallaby with 32 Mb ram is the problem.
I just stick to navigator 5.21
Unless some1 has the solution to run tt6 on a wallaby

Hi guys,
Quick newbie question:
I have had an XDA for about 8 months and am interested in the new XDA2, particularly now that O2 has dropped the price to £199.
My question is; Does the majority of XDA software work on the XDA2? I ask because I have installed a lot of software on my XDA (ie TomTom2, PocketTV player, Program/Battery Pack, Acrobat Reader, games and many more) and it would all seem a waste if I couldn't install these on the XDA2.
Many thanx
Munkee
xda2 use intel xcale and xda1 use intel arm cpu they are codecompatible
so unless it's software written specialy for special hardware which is not directly cpu related
it should work just like software from ipaq's works on both systems aswell
the issue however is that not all programs written for ppc2002 works on ppc2003
pda's are much like pc's when it comes to the fact that software written for one brand of pda works on all other pdas using the same OS, (though it may have to be recompiled if the other PDA use another cpu like mips or some other which is not code compatible with the cpu of xda1 and 2)
Thanks for the reply, Rudegard.
I have a certain program that works fine on all of my other work related PDA's (PPC 6700, XV 6700, Old as dirt Toshiba E310).
I tried it on the plain jane WM5 rom and even upgraded to a WM6 version yet no dice.
My question is:
Is there a possibility that because of the different processor type (Intel versus the 8525's) it may not work?
Thanks for anything you may be able to share!
Would you happen to know the name of this "certain program"?
I guess your program was written for WinCe / Windows Mobile 2003 devices, that is why it won't work on a WM5 / WM6 device. The API in the newer devices is quite different!
Solution:
try to find a newer, up-to-date, equal application ...
Well, I am pretty certain that the program was written for WM2003, but the program works for WM2002, WM2003, WM5, and WM6 on other devices.
Any thoughts?
**Removed program name**
I work for the company, so its not pirated per say, and its used for work purposes, but not on the intended device (which is WM5 btw)
Hi All
Does anyone have any info on whether/when iGo8 might be available for Android devices?
I currently use iGo on my WM6.1 Touch HD and having tried iGo, TomTom Nav7, and Copilot 7 I can say it beats TT and CP hands down but for the lack of Traffic support in the UK. iGo for Android is mentioned on their website but the links dry up without pointing to any commercial software.
Right now it seems that for comprehensive satnav on Android Copilot have it all their own way.
Try this link for iGo myway. I am using it currently

Hi
Thanks for the reply - I did hit that page but still no mention of commercially available software. However I did do some digging through the FAQs using Google Translate and found that IGo My way for Android is only currently available on the Samsung Galaxy Spica.
There is no mention of it being put on general release. I think that is exceptionally short sighted of Navngo as they are giving a free run to Copilot and Sygic, but then they also only do Traffic via free TMC too which doesn't help us smartphone users in the UK who can't get TMC on our smartphones and even if we could TMC here is encrypted/subscription only so only used by OEM car manufacturers and TomTom.
i am useing it on my HTC Hero GSM
Yup, using it on the HTC Dream, although it's rather laggy so I'm going to try Navigon for a while.
Um, so can anyone give a source for this app?
it is there
called MotoNav
HI
i have igo my way (8.4.2) on my HTC Desire and i don't have POI's for france!?!? if anyone have them, please give me PM.
thanks!
Hi
Was also looking for iGo8 for my Galaxy i9000 S. Strange I can't find it. What's Sygic like? Any advice on a Android GPS. I find the Gmaps a bit too loosely put together and frustrating at times.
Thanks
i Used iGo on x10 mini pro and i think it's the best. sygic is slow, copilot not so precise
Igo stopped supporting android MotoNav is for devices with clscreens with higher res and my way is for lower. I can upload my way(lastest version) but later.

Hi I am not a developer or anything and I realise this site is more for those types so sorry if this is in appropriate.
Bascally I got the tytn I to play around a bit with roms ad learning an=bout developing. I want to try and get some emulators working on it but they all seem to be made for windows 2003, so obviously they either do not work or are jus very bad. I tried:
Picodrive
pocket genesis
morphgear
pocket snes 1.5
dosbox 073 arm
Will I need to downgrade the rom a lot to get this stuff going or is there another version that is known to work better with these older apps?
Thank you for your patience.
D
tried downgrading from mobile vista 6.5 seadragon
to Pays WWE final Full which is 6.1
Not really much difference in performance of the emulators so I guess I would have to go WAY back to something that would work with these emulators. Is it even possible to get windows 2003 on the hermes?!? Would I even want it will my phone be pretty much useless as far as being compatible with things like Activesync and Outlook?
Thank for your time

you're wrong! emulators actually getting to work on windows upper windows 2003
I think, you just do not realize the requirements for the emulator to work on your device
is there a way to install the android os on a tomtom gps unit? if so, exactly how do you do it? i know how to use odin if that can be used. i have an old tomtom one xl that i would really like to load android on , but just don't know how to do so.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Dedicated GPS units usually have pretty low specs since they don't really need to run anything but the GPS software. The One XL has a 266mhz processor and 32MB of RAM, way too low to even consider Android.
You are better off getting a cheap Android device with a GPS if you want an Android based GPS.
what abbout car units
Hello
I have a laguna 3 whith navigation carminat. Would that be posdible to have android on it?

I doubt that the proper drivers exist for the hardware in those things. Even within the general Linux community, I can't see the demand for such a project being very high. I think you'd have to do a ton of searching and compiling from source, even then, as mentioned, many dedicated GPS units just aren't very powerful.
That said, I'd bet there are some random Chinese dedicated GPS units running Android or something.

I would think it would work. The two GPS units I bought in Hungary have Windows Mobile loaded on them. If it can take Windows mobile wouldn't it support Android too? I'm no expert on that so I'm relying on the answer too.
Why?
