Sometimes when I call my wife I can't get through. When she opens her phone, it will ask her for the PIN code. Has anybody else seen this, and do you know what to do about it? No extra programs except for TomTom. Very little customization. Also when this happens, it will show that the batter is empty, but when the PIN code is pressed it will show the correct amount of battery time left after a little while. This happens totally randomly.
Go trade it for a new one.. only cure.
hhmmpp... having same problem also with the Dopod S300... auto reset and ask for pin... did you found the solution? else i would have to send it to the service centre already..
I have had the same issue with mine (rebooting without notice).
I read in a Cingular forum about a faulty battery cover switch (bottom right as your looking at the battery with the cover removed).
The quick fix is to take a very small piece of paper and place in on the switch. This will make a better contact when you re-install the battery cover.
sounds strange but since I did this (about 2 weeks ago), I haven't had a single reboot.

I noticed earlier today my phone kept freezing.
the phone HAS been freezing on me recently, at least once an hour
but now every 3 minutes it freezes or resets itself. I have missed a LOT of calls and ttext messages etc.
today has been a disaster. i havent even synced my numbers and contacts. what should I do?
if you haven't installed anything new or tweaked just before the problem started:
as usual - backup and hard reset...
There is a free program called "pim backup" that will backup all your contacts, messages and call log. Then you can do a hard reset.
my phone freezes before I can even back up anything. its the worst
now it seems like if my phone is plugged in and charging, it gives no problem, but as soon as I unplug it, frozen.
im going to try to find PIM backup to see what that can do
wow now I have a bigger problem now. my phone fell and the transcriber cracked so only part of the screen works with touch BUT that was before I hard reset the phone and now the screen align is appearing but I cant touch all of the targets
is there a way to bypass this?
When its at the align screen you can plug it into computer and connect with active sync. Delete the Welcome shortcut from Windows/startup and soft reset. That should skip the alignment. Sorry to hear about the phone. I have a couple moguls if interested PM me about it.
I am having the same issue he was before he cracked his screen up.
I get freezing whenever the phone goes into standby and it will only restart with 2 hits of the reset button. Also it is a coinflip as to whether it will actually start up fully or just keep soft reseting for an extended period without ever loading up fully.
Anyone have any incite or ideas. I am running a ppckitchen vs of windows mobile 6.5 now. It is a kitchen version with few added programs. However I also experienced something similar to this issue with Titan Reloaded 1.3.4 as well but it stopped so I never bothered looking into it. Now this problem occurs about 10-15 times per day and it is frustrating. I am out of warranty and cant send my phone in because I replaced the housing myself.
Thanks
Dave
Also, I have US Cellular if you need to know that.
Thanks

I had the same problem kind of. Out of nowhere mine would lockup or freeze randomly. Usually after being in my pocket, after hitting all the buttons or squeezing it, it would work again (sometimes but usually after numerou reboots) but then lockup shortly after or flipping the case open and closed. Finally took the case off my phone and blew inside it today put it back together and havent had a lock up all day (1st time since i started havin the problem). It wasnt rom related as i had the same rom for a while, tried reflashing to different kinds of roms and radios but same random lockups. Somethin musta been loose
Well, I went to take my phone apart, probably the 8th or 9th time that I've done it and I ended up ripping the cable for the screen right off. So no more HTC for me for awhile. Unless of coarse someone wants to mail me a cable for free (im broke in college and my rent is due soon.) By judging by how easily the cable ripped I would bet the crease I found right by the rip had already had a slight tear in it.
Thanks for your help.

Hi there; Could do with some help please I seem to have a series issue with my Samsung Galaxy S2 today. It started this morning; I noticed the screen was randomly turning on; for no reason what so ever. It only does it when the phone isn't charging, if the data cable or the charger is plugged in; it doesn't do it.
Its on version KE7. I have tried a factory reset, and that hasn't sorted the issue. Therefore I seemed to think it was a hardware fault, however with it not being an issue when plugged in I wondered why it might be doing it.
Tap to speak also kept coming up for no apparent reason, I say kept coming up, doesn't happen all the time, but did come up about 6 times today, when I hadn't pressed anything, which would suggest the bottom centre button could be stuck or sticky, however that seems fine; and its not been near any moisture and has been a hot day.
The phone has not ever been rooted; so no issues there.
The phone battery dies very quickly within about 4 hours with the screen turning on all the time; and the phone will randomly freeze up completely, and I have to remove the battery to reset the phone.
Anybody got any ideas? Really could do with some help
Thanks
Rich
Update: It is plugged in charging now; and the MTP Application has come up; like the data cable is plugged in. That seems very odd to me...
Don't be afraid to send it back. These things aren't cheap even if you're paying through your contact, you're entitled to get what you paid for.
Your specific issues may be down to more than one thing. My screen lights up when I've read my gmail on a different device and it needs to clear the notification. Nothing too worrying about that. The other stuff does sound like some sort of shorting though and people have been given replacements for less serious issues.
I'm tempted to get mine swapped because the wifi often won't pick up an IP address and the gps won't get a fix if the phone gets too hot. Relatively minor compared to your issues.

Yeah I think its going to have to, I've tried playing about with settings, giving it time to cool down; pretty much everything I can think of, I really can't think what it could be, it seems to be many issues rather than just one, with it only being a month old, I expected slightly more.
Love the phone, did brilliantly yesterday; used it for lots of things; then today it just suddenly went, took it of charge, and it played up the whole way through.
Given up with it now, will take it back and see if I can get it fixed, I have 24 month warrenty with my contract.
Thanks
Put your original firmware back on if you can before attempting a warranty claim .

I just purchased my HTC Amaze five days ago and it is randomly turning off. It hasn't happened while using it, but it seems like every day now it has turned off while I haven't been using it. I push the lock button to unlock the phone and it is simply off. When I turn it back on everything is fine, but it is getting really old having to turn it back on so often. At first I thought maybe I was holding the lock button too long and accidentally turning it off, but that is not the case and the phone has been sitting on a table most times it has turned off without a case so the button isn't being pressed accidentally. The battery has more than half of the charge left so that shouldn't be the problem either. The phone just has the standard tmobile apps that came with it so that shouldn't be causing a problem.
Is this common? Is there a setting on the phone that turns it off automatically after awhile or at a certain time? If there isn't a setting is there a way for me to fix the phone or is it simply defective? I didn't buy the extra warranty, but I am within the 14 days to return the phone but it says on the box there is a 50 dollar restocking fee.
I bet there would be no function called automatic turn-off on this phone...and personally I have never faced this issue so far, during my half month period of daily use. Even there is a charge (which I never know), I would still suggest go for exchange. Random turn-off may relates to hardware defect, and is difficult to fix through software change. Try another one and hopefully that would take your headache away. Good luck.

Exactly what I think.
OP: If you are within the grace period, you can exchange the phone without restocking fee, especially if your device is defective.
Good luck!
Two other things I thought might be completely unrelated is that whenever I turn the phone on it says no sim card and then recognizes that there is a sim card and gets a signal and starts working immediately after that.
The other thing is that it says new voice mail whenever I turn the phone on, but when I check the voice mail there is none.
I took the sim card and battery out and put them back in. The no sim card message on start up is gone for now at least. The odd thing I noticed when I put the sim card in is it seems to slide in too easy. On my old phones I am used to a little bit of resistance when putting the sim in, but on this phone it goes in really easy, almost too easy. It seems like it could be easily jarred or even vibrated loose.
Is it supposed to be so easy to slide? Would the phone turn off if it stopped recognizing the sim card?
Thanks for the replies, I haven't ignored them, I am just trying to avoid having to go all the way back to the store, but I will if it shuts down again.

A loose sim card causing shutdowns? Hard to imagine how.
I just checked mine, and the metal restrainer is keeping my sim card pretty tight. It is not supposed to be moving around as you guessed.
My sim card sits pretty tight too. The "no sim card" message also pops up every time I turn on the phone. Guess the phone needs a short period to detect whether the sim card is there. For the voice mail I have no clue yet, check with your carrier maybe. Within the grace period I guess you could use this loose problem to support your demand and hopefully the store would not charge you any.
For the random reboot issue, try to do a master reset and that should help. I had that same problem the first few days i used it but after the reset it went away. It wouldnt hurt to try. Just remember all the free apps you downloaded because they will go away.

For the ghost v-mail...use a different phone or have someone call you and leave you a v-mail...as soon as you delete it the ghost voice mail will be gone too. I used to get these all the time on my HD2 and when I called T-Mobile that is what they told me to do...works everytime, until it pops up again. It was explained to me that it happens because you HAD a v-mail at one time and it got stuck in limbo when you deleted it, thus a ghost v-mail.
Thank you for all the help. The factory reset fixed the phone. It hasn't turned off once since I reset it several days ago and it was doing it every day before. Leaving a voicemail also fixed the voicemail that wouldn't go away.
I got a radar for free from work, had it for a month or 2 and something funny started happening. Whenever it takes a little tap in the wrong place or i put it in my pocket it turns off. I opened the phone up and completely took it apart and put it back together again making sure that every clip and screw was in place, and the same thing still happen. I'm just curious as to why something like this would happen. And what i mean by a tap i mean a TAP ...like putting my phone down on my desk when i get home causes the phone to shut off. Any help appreciated thank you very much
Just exchange it
^^Agree^^
I agree with MJCS best course would be to get it replaced. My best guess as to the actual problem would be the sim cover malfunctioning. The soim cover has several contacts that when interrupted will shutdown the phone.
me too
Hi hitman21888,
I'm experiencing the same on my HTC Radar, bought about 3 months ago. It's in waves though. When I just got it, it switched off randomly for a week or so, sometimes even 5 times per day, after which the problem disappeared by itself. 3 months past, and last week it started again. Since yesterday the problem disappeared again, yesterday and today the phone kept on during the whole day, so I think it got better again.
When it has this sickness, a hard tap on the screen or putting it FIRMLY on the table makes it switch off, and it switches off by itself aswell. When it's healthy again, tapping or putting it on tables doesn't make it switch off.
I've called HTC on this and they basically didn't recognise the problem, just advise me to do a hard reset. Did it - didn't help.
Have you found out anything?
Hello, this is my first post on XDA. But, i have this issue with my SM-G900T. My phone keeps shutting off at random! This usually happens when i lock my phone. I have already ruled out my battery as i put it in my friends S5 and over a two day period it was working just fine (He was running stock marshmellow). I think it might be a kernel problem or something. I have also ruled out my sd and sim as it will still shutdown when they are both removed. I am starting to lose hope in this device. Please if anyone can help me that would be AMAZING!
Other info:
Have to remove battery for it to turn on again.
Currently running SmallWizV8, but was running Reserrection Remix (Nougat). So Nougat-->MM.
Does it at random. Sometimes it will shut off and other times it wont.
Date mysteriously resets to December 30th, 2013.
If anyone can help me i would be very greatful!
Edit:
I have found and fixed the issue.
It was a battery connection issue.
I found out that when i dropped it from a short height (or when its in my pocket) the battery somehow loses the connection between itself and the connection pins.
Fix:
To fix this problem (if you are experiencing this problem as well.) Just simply fold a small piece of paper once or twice and put it in between the bottom of the battery compartment and the charger side of the compartment (wedging it between the side of the battery that is facing the charging port and the bottom of the compartment seemed to work for me). Then fold another piece (twice for me) put it on top of the battery (I put mine towards the charging port as well). This should fix it.
To see if it is fixed just drop your phone from the same height (or go jogging ) and see if it turns off again.
I had this issue for awhile. And i hope that people with the same problem find this article and are able to fix this problem.
I have had this exact same problem with my S5! So glad to know that I'm not the only one. Thanks for the fix!
