Cingular 8525 Ships! - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Patrick over at Justanothermobilemonday just posted pictures of his new production Cingular 8525. My first question to him was what ROM version did it have. Looks like it's shipping with the last ROM we got. Here it is:
ROM: 1.34.502.1
Date: 9/21/06
Radio Version: 1.16.00.00
I guess we will still have to wait for an updated ROM...
-cruiserman

WTF... That does not compute!
edit: ... or maybe it does!
It would explain why the release date wasn't delayed til mid December however. Cingular decided not to fix the battery drain bug! HTC must not have been able to commit to a fixed ROM in their timeframe. I was wondering how they could've crammed a fix through QA this fast.

I thought he said he had a pre-release model??

confirmed here as well. She had a typo, but you will know what it is.

Phone Busy tone

Hi,
When you dial anyone and their phone is engaged, does your xda just cut off, with a faint blip? There is no "beep beep beeep" engaged tone.
Im on o2 Uk network. Is this a bug, setting on my phone? Its quite annoying
strange, keeping getting logged off when i post. above is from me.
On posts like the above, it would be really helpful to know the Radio version and ROM version you're using.
Yeah I get that as well
Radio Version: 4.08
ROM Version: 3.14.13
Primed
Perhaps you could look at upgrading to a more recent version of the ROM & Radio.
The current release available on the o2 web site is quite stable, the versions are ROM 3.17.03 & Radio Ver 4.21
Print the instructions and follow them to the letter & all will be fine. I've done this 4 times on various units;

Good luck
RUU 3.17.03
I wonder if that will work with RSU 3.23.01?
And what are the differences compared to RUU 3.16.52?

Thanx!
If only I had an extra Qtek 1010 to test new stuff on... I guess I'd better ask my boss if he feels like buying me one...
:?
Happens on all the US phones with all ROM versions. Just cuts off the connection if the called line is busy.
Hi rom: 3.14.13
radio vers: 4.16
protocol vers: 32s54
This is the April update to the ROM from the o2 Uk website. Havent applied latest ROm update.
However, as others have mentioned the BUSY tone doesnt sound, just cuts off.
Same thing here, when I cal someone that's busy talking on their line, I get this di-di-da sound and the phone hangs up. Also had some funnies when trying to make calls when hearing volume on phone accidentally was set to zero, but that's another story. (don't try that..)
FS

O2's XDAII upgrade

For English ROM
ROM version: 1.60.00 WWE
Radio version: 1.08.00
ExtROM version: 1.60.44
MMS Client: 1.6.0.8
Has anyone tried this combination yet? If so, would you recomend it? Currently, I ahve no problems with the existing ROM and RS.
Can anyone advise on this?
I tried the upgrade and it worked. Although I don't like the way it leaves your screen. You have no idea the thing is finished. Just leaves a message saying PLEASE WAIT. I left it overnight doing it's thing so it must have finished.
The BIG problem is that you can't restore your backup files if you used like me Activesync. If anyone can recommend a backup and restore program that I can use. I still would like to get onto the upgrade.
For mms client there arent problems..but this Radio Stack with New Os Rom..Dunno.. Try at your own risk. lol
Upgraded to O2's Asia upgrade release
Ok guys, I took the dive to upgrade before any replies. Was crossing my fingers and hope for it to at least be on par with the older version.
It has been 24 hrs since. Noticed that it performed faster when launching and closing applications. But I pocket ie still could not read certain links from yahoo weather.
MMS sending is very much faster as gprs take a shorter time to loggon. Radio wise, have yet to try out places with bad reception eg 1bar.
Overall, still happy that it has yet to show signs of bugs.
The only question bugging me is why is the ROM date 12/3/03? Way before the machine was released.

AT&T (Cingular) ROM Officially released!

I noticed tonight HTC changed the carrier name to AT&T, so I figured hmmm... And there it is, the official release!
HTC's download page
It appears to be the same as previously posted from the Device Info screenshot, but the file name is slightly different. File size is a little smaller too.
looks like the 1.40.30 radio is now official...
why would people want to get that when they can get the ones on here?
New Rom ?????
Isn't this the same thing Shogun posted 3 weeks ago ?
I might have gotten excited a month ago.
But now, I couldn't care less.
(About the release that is, not this thread )
Have they fixed the bugs?
I certainly hope that they've fixed the bugs that were present in the 2.15 that shogun posted here earlier. I flashed that one on my phone, and it was very slow, and very buggy (taps taking seconds to register, applications not opening). And that damn startup sound was extremely annoying. The smaller file size suggests to me that maybe the ROM that shogun posted was a debug ROM, and this is the release one. (Just a guess, anyway.)
As for why people might want it, well, I'd be interested in it if it's relatively bug-free. I've tried the WM6 ROMs, and ended up flashing back to the Cingular 1.34 ROM (and applying CABs to customize it). The Cingular ROM has a look that I like (I like blue), and it's official, which means that even if they won't help you out, they at least won't look at you funny for running it.
(Time to update my sig, as I'm running Cingy 1.34 with SPL-2.10-Oli and radio 1.41.)

Okay, is it WM6 or WM5?
One would think that HTC would be screaming this from the tops of rooftops, but I see no such declaration...
Is this new ROM Windows Mobile 6 or is it Windows Mobile 5? I suspect 5, but I can hope.
I'm running Black 2.5 and couldn't be happier. See no sign of the strange bluetooth problems others have been reporting. Stereo Bluetooth is not perfect, but it isn't bad (the brain is a very wonderful thing at getting used to substandard sound, like when I used to listen to cassettes for a while and then listen to CD's ... I thought the cassettes sounded fine until I spun up that disk).
It would be nice to get on the straight and narrow again, just in case there is a real Cingular problem that they need to troubleshoot.
I would be a pain to downgrade the phone just to take it to them, then have to upgrade again later.
They pulled it from HTC, I only see the old ROM on HTC America.

Thanks for the find. I just installed this and looks good. Does anyone know if I need to install the DST patch again or does in come with this rom?
Thanks.
It's there, but the link points to a different file name.
Last night I downloaded 2.15.502.1 but the link today says 2.15.502.3. Maybe they're changing it?
Ok, now the link works. Downloading 2.15.502.3, file size is even smaller than the 502.1 from last night.
is this the same extended rom as the one posted on this forum by shogunmark?
After downloading it looks to be the exact same file Shogunmark posted. I was wrong about the file size being different.

Where did you find that link? I have refreshed the page several times and it still points to the 502.1 file. I even tried to just change the 1 to a 3. Could you paste the link or something?
Thanks.
Here it is, but it appears to be identical to the ROM posted by Shogunmark.

thats really weird.. the official upgrade link is for .3, however after you download the rom it shows as .1.. i havent actually flashed it yet..
It's .3 here, even on another machine.
Just give it a few minutes... they are in process of switching from .1 to .3 (it seems) as of about 7:30 am PST.
Mine that I downloaded is .1 also. This is weird for sure.
nah.. im flashing .1 i wanna see how it is compared to .3 ... i will run it for a day or 2 then flash back if it isnt any good... .3 is definitely a stable rom, very few crashes, but its sooooooooooo F'ing slow.. lets see what .1 holds...

in the Netherlands last week they also did the same, they solved a few bugs, removed loads of usefull things and gave you a stupid W&W theme.
No weather, missing Apps and fixed menu's
one reason why i flashed to a new rom.
Well, its quick when it first boots up then as the minutes tick by, it starts to slow down just like the original T-Mobile UK rom. Manilla starts to lag behind.
Forget GPS also, doesn't get a fix in places where cooked roms and the stock upadted HTC rom did.
I wouldn't bother with this 'updated' rom, it pointless and I cannot understand why t-mobile have it taking up server space.
Why didn't they take the opertunity to update the rom...I just cannot understand that level of stupidity!

here is some info on the phone.
ROM version: 2.01.651.6
ROM date: 7/27/09
Radio Version: 1.12.34F
Protocol Version: 7500J-SDCBAPZM-6150
Hardware Version: 0080
PRL version: 60652

Have you tried to flash the RADIO to the previous one? The one that SPRINT originally shipped the TP's with? That may help out... I am currently running the 1.12.34F radio with no problems but... wont hurt to give it a shot. The radios are posted on the stickies ontop of the forum.
