Hi
Is there a way to deinstall the ungly vodafone icons?
The other things from the extend rom are ok. Could it be possible that there are othere Cab Files than these ones in the Extended Rom? Where can i find the operator settings, that will be normaly installed.
Thanks!

XdaII ExtRom Question

Hi,
I want to ask anyone know how to build an Extended Rom for XdaII to Upgrade it's Extended Rom?
My thought is that, we can't modify the extended rom, how's we buid a rom then upgrad the extended rom part? I think it's an alternative way to modify the Extended Rom.
does the "mkrom" can do it?
Since XdaII structure seems different to XdaI
Thanks!
Ciao
I have right now finished to upgrade my XDAII with WM2003SE 2.02, and in order to manage the situation that you have described I have used the program ER2003Edit . I found it very usefoul in order to take an already existent extended rom and replace / add / delete applications inside. Pls don't miss to modify too the config.txt files in order to start automatically the installation of applications files after an hard reset.
To, R0ger.
where to find the ER2003 edit can o post a link here.
thanks in advance.
you know the search function?
you know the wiki pages? Hint: Its one of the "XDA-developer tools".

Edit XDA II Active User Interface

Hi to you all.
I have the current XDA II UK Rom on my i-mate and its the best rom I have ever had, I really like the look of it and it seems vey stable as well.
The Active User Interface on the today screen is configered for UK O2, is there any way to edit the files in the Windows\V2R\O2ActiveUI\Data. I guess that is the files with all the settings for voicemail number, country settings etc... I am Vodafone Australia.
Any help please...
Hi,
you can try to modify the cab-File (o2ActiveUI....cab) in the Extended ROM.
Take WinCE Cab Manager to edit the above mentioned cab-file. In this cab-file you will find another cab-file (o2ActiveUI.cab?) which you should extract first and after that edit with the WinCE Cab Manager.
In this file you will find several settings for different providers (o2 UK & o2 GER). I think that it should be possible to change them, but did not try that yet (though I also intend to do that).
Should you succeed, it would be great if you could post what you've figured out...

or could someone be kind enough to add me to msn and help me through it?

Thanks
I have the same problem. I also wanna go to 1.72
Orange helpdesk says there is no date set yet for them to have it
They are spending their time on star wars
where can i download roms fron the orange site? ive heard that you can but i cant find any
No problem young's...it's very easy to do that.
@ NeCrOpHiLiCaT
If you need more help, I have added your MSN address in my one!
I have only orange CH settings, so the best to do is:
Load the old ROM (original one, maybe 1.66), install Extendet_ROM tools you can find on XDA site, export from the phone Extendet ROM those *.cab whos name are ORANGE on your PC Harddisk.
Install the new ROM (maybe 1.72), repeat the step whit extendet ROM and put in the Extendet ROM of the phone those ORANGE *.cab you extracted in the Harddisk, after that you can just go in the Extendet ROM of the phone and Tap on those cab file, otherwise, in the Extedet_ROM of the phone is a file "config.txt", edit this one, add line whit cab name. So, if you make a Hardreset of your phone it will install also Orange settings.
This last one woulb be the better way if one time you make a hardreset.
I hope this is clear Enought, because my english isn't the best!
Cheers

How To Create A Settings Cab File??

Hi. I Would Just like To Know How To Create A Cab File That Had All The Settings I Used On My Phone.
I Just Upgraded The Firmware On My TyTN To The AT&T AKU 3.3 Rom And Being From The UK This Ment I Had A Lot Of Information To Change In Order To Get My GPRS,WAP,MMS,E-Mails And Keyboard Layout To Work Again. It Would Have Been Really Handy If I Had Had A Cab File Wich Would Have Added All That Data For Me.
So I Was Just Wondering If Anyone Knew How To Do That.
Cheers
Sorry, Couldn't Help But To Post This, But Maybe You Also Need To Change The Setting That Automatically Capitalises The First Letter Of Every Word.
Just kidding with ya . You might have better luck in the Hermes forum, rather than the Hermes Upgrading forum.
You may try to use a software called ''WinCE.CAB.Manager''

Click to collapse
Easy way is to find the Ext_ROM from a shipped ROM from Orange UK and run the extrom cabs to get the MMS/SMS and GPRS settings etc...

Installing features from another extended Rom

Hi there,
my TC 500 with G4 chip and original (T-Com) ROM needs some extras.
My cellphone provider o2 has its own Rom, now the question: I heard there are two things, ROM and Extended ROM. Is it possible to keep my ROM and take some of the .cab files from the Extended Rom from O2 and simply install them?
Both Roms are german Roms, so I don't need to unlock cid (country id), right?
Or is ROM and Extended ROM the same? Some confusion here...
The thing I need is a "homezone symbol" that o2 uses in its *-Rom.
A last question, is it even possible to use the o2 rom from their downloadsource o2online.de because it's the same language???
