I recently bought a stereo headset, Plantronics 590A, and I wonder what the rest of you think of the sound quality in your headsets.
I sometimes experience a low hiss while playing music with a lot of high pitches, like a lot of cymbals, crashes and high hats etc ( = Metal! )
Music with mostly base sounds just fine.
I solved this to some degree by adjusting the high pitches in the equalizer.
What quality sound do you have using A2DP?
I experience the hissing using both WMP and Pocket Player 2.72. Is there some player that is better or worse for use with A2DP?
Noticed that the hissing is significantly lower if the volume on the pda is set as low as possible and the volume on the headset is turned up than set the other way around.
Also, shameless bump...
Yea I am trying my friends motorola ht820 and I notice the same thing you said. It is still there even at setting the hardware volume low, any way we can reduce it more? It seems the treble is high

I use GSPlayer and TCPMP, with itech R35
I don't notice such problem
I know this is common pocket/WM problem with some devices
I'm getting this problem also.
I raised a thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=59333 to try and get my ideas out on the subject but I seem to have gotten to cold shoulder from the forum.
I've been doing a lot of my own testing but I cant decide if its 1)My phone (o2 xDA MiniS / Wizard / QTec 9100), 2)my headset (Motorola HT820) or 3)something to do with the bluetooth bandwidth/quality (Because when I use the external audio jack the sound is perfect).
Does anyone have an idea as to what the problem is?
Thanks all.
Plonka2000.
Experiencing ths same problem with Plantronics Pulsar 590A and S200 with AKU 3.2
I would say it could be due to bleutooth A2DP compression like it sounds like a bad/low bandwidth encoded file...
I'll test with an acer n311 if it is a2dp compatible ?!
could like to test with, for example, a SE K800i to see if it isn't the MS bluetooth stack...
Humm... I'll test with the 590A supplied bt audio adapter too tonight. If the sound's good, then we'll have to wait for some fixe on WM2005 :'(
tested with the Plantronics bt receiver, the sound quality is just vrey good.
So the problem is on the pda side..
Need to test with an other pda...
Yea, I am really disappointed with the sound quality of my Motorola HT820 that I got on ebay. Where did you guys purchase your headsets? I heard there were some fake ones on ebay, I don't know how they can forge it but it is a possibility.
I purchased mine yesterday. Once the WOW effect wore off, came the disappointments..
The bluetooth is terrible. Lots of static in my Plantronics Voyager Pro, and also it pairs with my Nissan BT handsfree, but only connects the first time, afterwards its not possible to connect to it anymore.
Flashed to the latest KE7, factory reset, did not help at all.
How can such an expensive phone be like this? Bluetooth is one of the most important features in a phone...
I have the same pairing issue like you. Don´t get my Sony Bluetooth headset to work. Tested it with two devices.
I have car bt xplode System and i never had it so good. Always connects. It does skip if wifi is on though. I had the same issue with gs1.

Happily mine works nice, with SonyEricsson a2dp stereo headset, Belkin a2dp receiver, a nokia handsfree (not sure about the model), the file transfer is faaaaaast
It has paired everything I used it with and no problems so far.
The sound is even better than it is via my retired iphone.
does anyone tried working with SE LIVEVIEW.
My N1 had truble, and looking forword to SGS2 and don't know yet if it is OK.
Also have problem with a Plantronic Discovery 975. Statics and stuttering sound. No problem pairing though and it is the same (bad) sound quality if I'm near or 5 m away.
I'm on KE7 firmware.
Wow, should this be added to the official bug list?
For me, bluetooth intermittently skips if wifi is turned on. Once I turn wifi off, its crystal clear. This has happened on all my different bluetooth headsets so if other are experiencing the same thing, I think this is definitely an "official bug".
Mine skips, and randomly drops connection to my JVC car stereo requiring a reboot. Back and forward buttons don't work reliably either.
Anyone who says theirs is clear is wrong. They just don't have an ear for decent sound quality. The bitpool on every Android phone (including Cyanogen) is horribly low and it really shows in the mid-high tones (ie hi-hats). No-ones is different.
Worst of all, sometimes if I get out of my car, I'll get a 'hot' leg where the device is overheating from the bluetooth going nuts. I feel like it's damaging my SGS2.
Yapp, can confirm that turning of wifi stopped the stuttering. Sound isn't great but probably usable. Defenitly a bug?

Any progress on this yet? Mine drops the sound quite a lot. Remains connected but just no sound and does this about every 15 minutes, requiring bluetooth to be turned on and off.
First let me start off by saying, my bluetooth pairs well with my Motorola S7HD and the sound to ME is DECENT until you put it in your pocket and from there it gets "staticky" somewhat but not too bad.
As for the car, I have to manually pair the phone to the car stereo every time. Sometimes it would connect it to automatically. The sound to MOST of us in the car is fine. Keep in mind most of us aren't audiophiles. If it plays well, understandable, and without any static, it's a ok in my book.
The suckerpunch is that sometimes the bluetooth would drop connection now and then. I need to do a restart on the phone to get it flowing again. Meh.
If anyone finds a fix, please tell
i also get crappy sound quality, but whats worse is, that neither the mic nor the earplugs work on my BT headset when i try to answer a call! (sony ericsson mw600 headset)
only when i pause the call and resume it, the headset works!
did anyone experienced this?
solved it by disabling wifi....seems to be a common android issue
Any progress on this issue?
E.g. does 2.3.4 improve?
Hi @all,
I noticed a (bluetooth) headset issue while calling (not only in this rom, even in all roms i have tested): when wifi is on, crack sounds make every call inaudible.
It happens with plantronics voyager 520 and BMW professional (2011) car kit.
I can't believe having the best phone with such an error.
Suspending wifi, stops the crack sounds, but the quality of headset calls is much worse than with my "old" SGS1.
I use my phone two hours a day for calling. I'm not amused about this fact.
Other surveillances?
Greetz
synovatec
on SGS2 with LeoMar75 Rom Revolution v2.2 - ODEXED Custom ROM based on the latest XXKG2 firmware (2.3.4)
Is anyone experiencing issues with the Bluetooth? In one of my cars, audio streaming via BT is useless. It constantly drops in & out. Phone is useless as well via BT. In my other car, audio streaming is decent ( only drops in & out every 10 min or so) but phone quality still blows!
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
DCNS
Hello Have you experience disconnection in your bluetooth especially on headset?
It this a samsung flaw?
Not here
No problems with BT on mine.
My Huawei Watch used to keep disconnecting from my phone and BT with my car stereo (a Sony) would sometimes skip or disconnect. But after clearing the boot cache, the watch issue has gone away. Not entirely sure about the stereo; it still happens but I don't know if it's the stereo or the phone.
No problems here. What headset are you using?
Developer settings, choose bluetooth "maximum connectivity" mode. It is default set to auto or highest quality. Worked for me with akg bluetooth headphones cutting out when mowing grass with phone in my pocket.

You're talking about "Bluetooth Audio LDAC Codec: Playback Quality?" That's only for LDAC transmissions, and AFAIK, AKG headphones do not support LDAC.
My issues have come back, so now my watch and car stereo keep disconnecting from the phone. I'll eventually get around to exchanging this at T-Mobile and hoping it was just the phone.

I was not aware of that. Still fixed my problem maybe just random luck then.
not happened on mine. I connect to my BOSE QC30 every day and to JBL link300 sometimes. Connection qualiy is great. even better than my original Pixel XL
I haven't had any problems, in fact, I had the same issues on my v20. I use a "car kit" for my car and it connects fast and is reliable. I've only used 2 of my sets of headphones (I have 3 others) but have never had any problems (LG Tone Pro and soundPeats q30).
I have problems with my car, every time i turn off my car, i have to paired it again.
Don't know if s software.
My s8 plus works fine.
Hi!
Got this little nagging issue that is bothering me. At work I use a bluetooth Jabra65 headset. Problem is I don´t wear on my head all the time (talkin to coworkers, listening to audio through speakers etc) and have them around my neck. When doing this I keep missing calls since the ring signal is played through the headset (which I´m not wearing) and not through the phone speaker.
I really would like the ring signal to be played BOTH on the phone and through the bluetooth headset. Any way to set this up? I´ve tried all the audio and bluetooth settings I could find on the Mate 10p but no success. Thanks for any advice.
Lo and behold! Just half an hour after I posted above I got a call and got loud and clear signal on both phone and in headphones . Magic! ....or maybe the upgrade to android10 that landed last night?
