I recently updated my Imate PPCPE with the new ROM for WM2003SE (2.06WWE). I was previously running 1.72WWE which is WM2003.
The upgrade seems to have gone well with no issues I can notice so far except that I can not use my favourite input program Decuma OnSpot anymore. When i Install it, it just messes up the whole input functionality and ALL the input methods disappear. i.e. when i click on the little input panel button on the lower right of the screen, nothing happens. Nothing comes up and there is no way to select an input method or do any input.
Even the (default) keyboard doesnt show up anymore when it is supposed to (i.e. when i am on an input field).
Has anyone seen this issue? any idea about what is causing this or how this can be resolved? maybe there's a registry setting somewhere that can help?
got a crack for it ?
I have the same problem running WM2003SE on MDAIII
the camera icon is there, but nothing happens when i press it, any suggestions please

You try remapping the buttons?
Settings > Buttons
Often after a ROM upgrade, button mapping will be f'd up, try that.
after tinkering with it for a bit, i got the program to load but i come up with an error, 36001:100:3 failed to initialize video output device, suggestions?

I have seen comments about not being able to use the camera in one of the posts relating to the latest Schaps beta release: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=318589 (take a look) is this the ROM you are using?
In any case I'd suggest that you post this question in the area related to the WM6 ROM that you have changed to then you will most likely be able to get comments from others that have the same ROM (and most likely the very same issue). Such camera issues (hardware fault aside) are most likely to be caused by either the ROM or third party software.
thanks for the reply, im using the black majik rom
Me too
I've got the same problem after flashing to Black Satin (from Shadow) and radio 1.48. (T-Mob UK MDA Vario II)
Have since tried:
Black Satin Medium
Schaps 3.30c
Black Shadow
Radio 1.43
but still no camera The camera button is set to 'Pics and Video' (changing it to 'Camera' doesn't help) and starting camera from Programs just does literally nothing.
I'm checking the Schaps thread again - seems like other have a similar problem which is a little reassuring! Will report back if I get anywhere...
Just seems worrying that flashing back to old ROMs doesn't fix it.
Any other ideas welcome!

I just encountered the same problem on Schaps current 3.57a ROM on my HTC Hermes. Whatever I try, the camera won't start up. Help would be appreciated...
www.SCHNEISING.de,
I've also tried schaps 3.57a after my last post and still no good. I wouldn't worry if the camera was just broken in one ROM, but the fact that I can't get it back in any ROM is very worrying
Can you try running the flashlight app in that ROM? (Programs->Accessories) That does nothing either, for me...

camera doesnt work after rom flash - solution?
Possible solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=384854
Simply take out battery for at least 15 minutes.
i had that problem when there was a shorted capacitor on my front camera board, removing the dead component solved my problem, but it was getting hot at the front.
Please can you post some photos or schemes?
I had a camera failure on my Hermes too ( I'm sure I posted about it on here somewhere but I can't find it now). The battery was also draining quickly (<7 hours). After much messing about with reflashes etc, I cracked the device open, removed the rear camera module and noticed green oxidisation on the contact. Cleaned this up with contact cleaner, reassembled and the problem was solved!
Referred to the Hermes Service Manual for dissassembly info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340426
Hope this helps,

I have same probleam of Aiuspaktyn
Phone is HTC P3600
Rom Udk 6.1 Lizard
Data Rom 6/29/2007
Radio 1.56.70.11
Versione Proto... 32.89.7020.20H
Camera doesn't work . All black no image both internal than external camera, and slow change of camera option menu.
No One had met this problem with camera!! my photocamera doesn'work yet.
Can Someone help me?
Seems too common of a problem. I have an 8525 that lost the camera ability when I upgraded to the factory Hermes CINGULAR 6.0 ROM. I tried coolcamera, nuthin. Tried to upload Camera 4.0_28276 and it worked! Once Tried it again 15-20 min's later, stopped working. I'd hit the camera icon, and get a white screen, and the windows logo would start to spin, then it would go back to the home screen. Messed around some more and got a certificate error.
I changed my rom yesterday to V8Beta2 by JossKoss. I love the ROM, but still no Camera. I tried CoolCamera and Camera 4.0_28276, camera shortcut icon does nothing when pressed. In the Windows folder, camera.exe does nothing, camera.exe.0409 states there is no application associated with it.

Tried to find "camera support", not on my phone. The above quote was from the thread regarding my ROM.
I will not give up. Anyone with more idea's to try?
Got it working
This morning I took my phone off the charger and removed the battery as soon as I got up. 45-50 min's later I put the battery back in, and the camera worked! Drove to work, tried it again and the camera is still working. Hopefully stay's working. I'd hate to have to remove the battery for that long any time I want to use it.
camera
nothing also by leaving the battery off . I try a lot of rom but nothing. where can i try original sw with wm5
I am currently using PDAViet 40005 Cross and am finding that occasionally after a soft reset, and always after Sprite Backup has gone through a backup, that my backlight is off and will not come back on until I find my way, with some difficulty in the dark, to settings/backlight where I find the slider is on 0. I drag it to the right and the backlight comes on. From then on it is fine, until the next backup, or reset, or occasionally the next time I press the power button to switch the device off.
It first happened with the Gullum TNT V4 ROM, and now with PDAViet 40005. I am wondering if it has anything to do with PocketEvolution's ScreenLock because that is a common factor and is an app I install last of all. I have removed this app, but am still getting the backlight problems.
My PDA is a Qtek S200. If I am going to need to revert permanently to WM5, is there a ROM available online?
Any advice welcomed. I have rectangular eyes with the number of ROMs I have installed over the past few days. Note I have always followed instructions, including downgrading to the recommended WM5 ROM in between.
If I could map the brightness slider to a hard button it would be useful - if there is no other solution.

did u install SPB Pocket Plus? if yes the problem is because of it !
the best WM5 ROM is Aserg AKU3.13 search it to find !
No, I have installed PocketMax Phone Alarm, PocketEvolution ScreenLock, Innesoft Cash Organiser, eWallet, SPB Backup and the battery status app that seems to crop up everywhere.
I suppose the answer is to reflash, install each app one at a time to see when the problem occurs.
Thanks for your reply, ebaskar.
I went through the time-consuming procedure of re-flashing, adding an application, checking the backlight, adding another and so on. I still couldn't pinpoint the cause of the problem - all seemed to go well, then suddenly the backlight went off and wouldn't come back on until I found my way to the backlight settings and puller the slider over again.
I decided after flashing with goodness knows how many ROMS that I am going back to WM5. I downloaded and installed Aserg AKU3.13 and after several hours all seems well. It even looks like WM6.
The only problem I have now is one I have always had - the default entry method. I'll post a thread about that in the main Prophet forum.
did you find a solution to this problem?

Well I found out what caused it. I bought a new HTC Touch and was very disappointed to find I had the same problem. It was PocketMax PhoneAlarm. As soon as that app was installed on WM6 I had the backlight problem. Even uninstalling it did not resolve the issue - I had to do a full reset and reinstall everything apart from PhoneAlarm.
It then tried PocketZen, a free alternative to PhoneAlarm. The same thing also happened with this app.
It appears that any utility which messes with backlight settings will cause the problem on WM6 - I have no idea whether it affects all phones, but it certainly affected my Qtek S200 when flashed with several different WM6 ROMS and my HTC Touch with an official out-of-the-box WM6 ROM.
After flashing the phone to schaps 4.22 hermes rom the voice dial button (button 5) does absolutely nothing. Schaps has written that it is mapped to advanced task manager but this does not start either. Nor can button 5 be mapped to anything else.
Is is a bug or a classic user error?
yes, I have noticed the same problem with my phone too.
MMM, you might need the PPT fix if your using PTT.
If your trying to use Voice dial, Its not in the rom
If you read through the thread where the Rom is located, there are actually two different fixes for it... Both are supposed to do the same, but only one works without any additional side effects... They are the Sleuth's PTTFix cabs... As I said, there are links to two different ones in the thread, I don't feel like looking for them now, but they are both there... the second one doesn't give any errors upon soft reset and works fine...
Happy Hunting...
my phone is an at&t branded phone.
I've been searching on this forum and it seems that any rom installed on an at&t phone will cause the function keys to be mapped wrong.
I also found that there is a fix for kaisers.. but I cant find one for the 8525.
Does anyone know how I can fix this on my 8525?
nobody else has this problem?
I had the same problem, and I just got used to where the FN buttons actually were, as opposed to where they were supposed to be. Then I installed MRH 8.2 Sun Shower, and in AdvancedConfig, under Keyboard, it gave the option to map the keyboard to AT&T/Cingular.
Now the FN keys are mapped properly, and I'm hitting all the wrong punctuation again.
