I'm pretty new here and hope someone can help before I will mess up my cute wizard I have the wizard model of the german provider "Vodafone" it is called "VPA Compact II" here. When I boot my device it says it have IPL and SPL version 2.21.0001 so I assume I have a G4 device. I don't know yet ff it's CID-unlocked or not, but my question before doing any **** with my device I have following question:
actually it is a german version of WindowsMobile 5 installed but I would like to install greek language of WindowsMobile5. Is that anyhow possible, can I get such a ROM ??? I was not able to find and suitable ROM with greek language neither here nor at the linked FTP-sites, as the username and passwort xda:xda does not work for me.
Maybe someone can help a newbie?

I dont think there is a greek rom as far as I know
My phone was purchased in cyprus and it is just all english.
Just got to live with it I suppose.....

I would like to update my MDAII on Dutch T-Mobile to WM2003SE.
I have read through this forum extensively and it only confuses me more. I don't understand what bootloader software to use, how to cook a rom etc etc.
If there's anyone that has a working set of roms for T-Mobile Netherlands I would be very gratefull. I read edSUB was working on it, but haven't heard since.
Also, it might be really really cool if someone with enough experience could write a understandable tutorial (with proper downloads) so people like me could learn and do it by ourself.

if the language dont need to be dutch (not sure if ms makes CE in dutch)
then any english rom will do
sure you may have to manualy type in the gprs and mms settings but
other than that a rom dont need to be localized

A Dutch WM2003 SE doen't excist. you will need an english one like on the MDA Compact (also Dutch T-mobile one)

Sorry for the confusion, my mistake.
I meant an english version of WM2003SE (WWE), I have an MDAII that's on the Dutch T-Mobile network, so for the ext.ROM I'dd like to have an updated one that has all the T-Mobile NL stuff.
Because, I presume just loading the WM2003SE ROM won't work with an old ext. ROM? I couldn't get this clear out of the other threads.. and i certainly don't want to just try stuff out, I love my machine way to much to hurt it

I have a Vodafone V1605 and it comes in English lenguage.
I want to upgrade to a Spanish ROM (hopely the last ROM) but I don't now how to do it or where to find the correct executable ROM file.
My PDA Phone is SIM Free and I'm affraid if the new ROM could change it, Is it possible?

Currently Vodafone Spain has not released any rom upgrade yet, and there's no other ROM upgrade available in spanish.

Perhaps they haven't any published ROM, but It may be anyone becouse Vodafone sell this PDA Phone here in Spain.
I tryed to upgrade with an i-Mate spanish ROM (JAM_ESP_11203_159_11210_ship.exe) but an error occurs. Something like "Wrong country".
How can I solve this problem?
In addition, the bluetoth has not the "OBEX" service, so I can't send any stored item. Could this function be 'unlocked'?

I know, I'm Spanish too, but vodafone Spain has still not published ROM upgrades. VF Spain ROM upgrades will come in the future I guess....

BE CAREFUL!!! You were trying to flash a Jam ROM, imate Jam is HTC Wizard, not HTC Hermes, you should flash "JasJam" ROMs but not "Jam" ROMs. Luckily it did not flash, otherwise you could have bricked your unit!
For now just be patient, when a ROM upgrade is available in Spanish we will publish it on the shipped ROMs wiki page.

Hungarian ROM in the UK
Bought my vario 2 on e-bay and it did not come with a CD I have called up T-mobile and they wont give me one. When I switch on my phone it says "test only not for sale"...I basically looking to reinstall the t-mobile uk rom hoping that it will removed this message but can not find it anywhere. Is this Hungarian ROM going to work on a uk phone ? Are the GPRS & 3G settings the same ?
I am clueless any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I guess you got a preproduction hermes version with a super cid and 300mhz processor...just look in the hermes wifi in preproduction section...and you will get all of ur answer....

Very interesting. The very first T-Mobile Hungary ROM that has ever hit the internets.
(T-Mo Hu never releases ROMs... if you want an upgrade, you have to take it to the service and let them do it... they still sell their Wizards with AKU 1.1.1 ROMs)
Update works
Updated my Dutch T-Mobile MDA Vario II (2).
Took some time, first made Super CID and SIM lock free.
After upgrade the regional settings are indeed Hungarian but the ROM itself is English.

I've just updated my (I think is the right term) rom using
RUU_HERMES_HTC_WWE_1[1].35.255.2_1.35.255.102_1.08.00.10_SHIP.
Now the installation was fine but some of the original setting on the t-mobile rom are missing, like the quick launch 'running program' button on the screen, the 3g connection symbol as well as a few quick launch icon that use to be at the top of the main screen ' web & walk , contacts, notes. These have all disappeared, is there a way of getting the t-mobile vario 2 setting back or at least a way of configuring the keys to how it was with t-mobile. I think what i've currently got is the HTC original rom hence the HTC logo when I now turn the phone on.

Hi everyone. I just got my Vodafone VPA COMPACT II last week (people call it dopoda 838 in China), Qwertz keyboard. It has Chinese WM5 now, keyboard default input method is not English, It's really boring, 'cauz I often write En SMS with it's keyboard. I've never tried a English Rom, I suppose you don't need to switch ISP and can type English directly when you pull out keyboard with En Rom, am i right?
I wanna flash a G4 rom, I would not try WM6, can i use Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii_CF2? I have downloaded it in my desktop, unzip it, conect PPC with USB and run newromupdateutility_wizard_noid.exe ? When RUU shows 100%, click Finish?

I have problem with legacy at internet (for example, i click to download Mp3 and phone and that work nothing).
Sometimes i lost icon(s) and after restart he look not correct..

Unfortunately it's hard to understand what you have been doing but it looks like you tried to flash a Window 6.1 ROM.
1. Install HardSPL
2. Then install new ROM
