I have a problem with my XDA2 whereby the 22 pin connector at the bottom of the device has become detached from the main board (after being dropped! outch!)
I have managed to resolder the connector back onto the board, however it appears that a couple of tracks have become detached from the board along with the connector which now means that the serial and usb ports no longer work!! - and there appears to be no way to tell where these pins connect to..
In an attempt to obtain a replacement board i have got hold of a damaged XDA2 from ebay which has a broken screen. However the connector on the board for the screen in this XDA2 is completely different to the one in my XDA2 making it impossible to swap the boards over (or the screens for that matter).
Does anyone know if it is possible to disassemble these displays so that i can produce a display that works with the right connector attached? I know that it's posible to replace the touch screen on these displays but i've no idea how - and i dont want to damage my working display!!
Any help would be apprecated
Rich
I've made sure I purchased the correct replacement for my screen. Followed a guide and got it all hooked up. The phone powers on but I get a white screen.
Anyone have any guesses as to what could be causing this?
Your help would be much appreciated as I would hate buying another phone.
Incorrect ribbon cable seat.
Take it apart and make sure that both the ribbon cable on the side, and the bottom with the tiny black screws are properly seated.
Yea i have tried all of that....but I just tried tinkering with it again and i was able to get a partial picture by changing the back pressure of where the LCD ribbon plugs into the other ribbon assembly the buttons are connected to.
So I am guessing there needs to be a super secure conenction at this point. Problem is...the black latch that holds the cable from the LCD to the other ribbon is broke so i cant make it pinch the cable.
Anyone know where I can find a replacement for this other than buying a broken hemes for parts?
You need the flex cable connection, and there is a site in canada that has them.
www.cnn.cn
Yea I checked that out....I don't see it, do you?

Hey Guys.
Sad times. the USB socket has broken off the PCB of my phone... anybody know of somewhere (preferably in london or the South East) to get it fixed? O2 are quoting £280 to replace it (It is 14 months old). Or anybody have a broken HD2 with an intact PCB that thery dont want???
maybe if i ask santa really nicely!!!
if you search ebay you might be able to find it, but around 80 pounds is average since they have to replace the whole motherboard.
there's a classified on ebay for a walk in hd2 repair shop in london. search "hd2 glass" on ebay uk and sort by time ending. i did that an hour ago and they had a dozen adds on page 1. the adds were all for screens (since the search was for glass,) but gotta be worth giving them a try
Thanks guys, I ended up getting it done by a really nice guy in Acton (London), turns out it couldn't be re-soldered because the contact pads had been lifted offthe PCB, also he said that he thinks the wire in the pcb is broken too. The guy is keeping it for a couple of days and running new wires from the socket to whereever they lead in the PCB.
Top service. highly recomended, and you can send your phone to him and get it sent back to you!
