I screwed up my xda I think -does anybody has a suggestion ?

Hello,
the folllowing thing happened to me :
- at a certain point i couldn't charge my xda anymore, and so the battery went down. no light appeared when connecting to the charger. and i couldn t start the xda anymore off course.
- i read the articles about the fuse which could be hit; and because i couldn't reach the spare fuse for the external battery, i simply soldered a solder bridge in the place of the fuse, as someone mentioned in another topic. i put everything together, but still, totally dead : no lights.
- now i don't know if this xda is totally lost or if i can do something about it. it could also be the charger which is broken. it doesn't get warm when i put it in the 'wall'. how can i check this ?
- if anybody has hints about what to do next or just trow the thing away, you could make my day ! many thanks in advance.
thomas.
You could try a usb sync charge cable, it maybe the battery has died completely also. Did you test the fuse before bridging the connection? Have you tried using the hard reset button, this is in the hole next to the headphone socket.
- i don't own such a cable, but maybe i can find it somewhere, as the qtek 1010 is not very widely spread in belgium, i could search over the internet instead of a shop.
- i did not test the fuse before removing it and soldering the bridge. which is probably quite stupid of me. the hard reset button didn't do anything and still doesn't.
- the battery could be dead also, but should'nt i see a light flashing when i insert my charger ? so my 'forecast' is that it could be a charger issue.
- maybe i could test it with someone elses charger here in belgium. i live in ghent, so if anyone is from near my place, i am willing tot travel to test your charger. i won't steal it, but then i can buy a new one over the internet.
if anybody has other testing methods for the charger, please let me know.
a simple question : should the charger get hot when plugged in ? because mine doesn't and i don't know if it ever did.
thanks for your answers ! and hoping to reanimate soon.
The charger would normally feel warm when plugged in.
err my charger's pretty cold actually...
Mine is too now that I checked but it gets warm while charging, my ipaq charger is warm when plugged in and not charging, any idea why this should be.
Can anybody help me with the following ?
i'm quite stuck in the thinking concerning the problem ...
is there anybody in europe who has a tech experience with the qtek 1010/xda and thinks he could arrange the problem i mentionned above ?
or is there anyone who knows such a person, because he had the same problem.
I want to let someone look at it, with, off course, a possible compensation in money. Is there anyone who could tell me how much this more or less could cost ? [because i am a student and use the phone mainly for testing purposes]
Thanks in advance !!! t.
Maybe a friend at college has a simple voltage tester you could use to test the charger output, the charger I have has a removable adaptor at the end of the lead, with this removed you are left with a simple barrel type connector which is very easy to test. If you cannot get a replacement charger and yours is faulty, send me a pm, and I will post one to you.
Anyone in europe who can repair my xda 1 ?
Hello,
i'm still stuck with a broken xda, as described above. Is there anyone in europe who has spare parts of the xda and is willing to repair this item ?
It would be great if anyone could help me. Please let me know what arrangments can be made. I am living in Belgium, Ghent.
thanks in advance.

Testing powersupplie
Hi!
I don't know if this could be helpfull, anyway: If you still think this is a charger-problem, then you could modify your cradle as described in the wiki. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WallabyCradleMod
And another thing as well. I noticed that the main charger is making a loud fuzzing sound when connected to power, so I guess that if your's silent and cold, it might be broken. (Which is not too problematic as it can be easily bought on eBay.)
What power-connectors do you use in Belgium? I have a spare-adapter that I'm not able to use as it does not fit in the Norwegian connectors...
Good luck with the phone!
Same Problem after plugging in my ipaq 3970 gps reciever
I got the Same Problem after plugging in my ipaq 3970 gps reciever, anyone got a clue where to go with this??
iPaq pinouts...
The pin-outs is not the same on the xda and the iPaq, so power in the wrong direction may have damaged the mainboard. And that would be differcult to repair I think!

Messed up AC connector on 3125

A lot of the pins inside the power connector on my 3125 are mangled, I thought about trying to straighten them but I think it's a lost cause. Any suggestions on what I might do?
I already replaced it with a AT&T Tilt (Kaiser), but it'd be nice to get my original working again as a backup.
Mmmm.......
Connector on my 3125 had absolutely destroyed. I never thought it would be repaired. The connect is a wrong design and don't hope it will work for a long time.
It happened to me to. Now I use two batteries and an universal charger.
The connector on my Cingular 3125 broke free of the board after I passed it off to my wife (I've got a HTC Fuze now!). I'm going to see about soldering it back on Monday at work - we've got some pretty skilled techs. I'll post back with my results.

Earlier this evening, I sent in a request for confirmation on the proper USB data cable.

hm interesting, if it comes off the board that easy maybe it can either be repaired or replaced. Gonna look for an OEM store now =D

The last time I asked a local cell repair shop, it was a $40 repair. They told me that it was a common problem.
One of the guys at work was able to solder it back in place without too much trouble. It's very close quarters, but as long as you haven't lost any of the pins it's not so bad to get it back in place.

Replaced LCD/Digitizer now keyboard is flaky

well my lcd/digitizer went out. didnt really know exactly which one was the culprit so i just replaced the whole thing, got it apart and together without much trouble, was very careful.
well now my querty keyboard is acting up, only some of my letters are registering,i,f,g,h,del,b,n,m,pge up,enter, alt, win,ok,systab, space, pge down,e, its really weird cause the keyboard worked great before, could i have done something to the motherboard or maybe the keyboard went out, i was very careful when taking apart and putting together, ok so if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to post, hopefully a new keyboard as all i need
thanks
Prolly just a problem with the flex cable that connects the keyboard to the main board is all. You probobly need to take it apart again and be sure to carefully insert the flex cable all the way in, on both the keyboard board itself and the motherboard and make sure that the ends are fully inserted and tight. Hopefully that is all that is wrong.
ok i did whatyou suggested and found that my flex wire was crimped slightly, that must be the problem, i was very careful but obviously not careful enough, so im using the touchscreen board till my new wing comes in sad face, thanks for your help

htc touch plus digitizer problem

hi
i have a htc touch plus or as they call it htc touch dual.digitizer issue it stoped responding so i bought new one fitted in and still the same problem .i think is a software problem i guess driver software for touch screen .if any one can help please
thanks
Touch Dual digitizer
Hi Saliml2
Not convinced it is a software issue. My digitizer on T-Mobile Touch Plus did the same thing. It stated behaving erratically and then stopped responding altogether. I replaced the digitizer (via eBay) and it work for a few days and then stopped again.
I have read around the internet and have tried several ROM updates etc (currently running a WM 6.5.5 found in other area of this forum) but this has not solved the problem.
It seem to be an alignment issue - i.e. screen alignment is outside the screen area, but there seems to be no way of getting it back. Could be a fault on the phone mainboard (?) but there doesn't seem to be any info around apart from sending it to HTC for repair (not viable as the phone value negates this)
My phone is still not working, I might try opening it up again and reseating the digitizer cable but have done this twice already.
Have you try change the flex cable?
I had one to, with the same problem, and after changing the flex everything was ok...
Good luck!
Hi Amokh Just to clarify, what is the flex cable? The digitizer has a cable already attached to it that plugs in to a zif connector on the mainboard - I assume that this controls the data flow for the digitizer.
Any help would be appreciated.

Goodluck
Flex cable, i was mean the cable between the mainboard and the lcd block, you can see it in the previous link, picture 20. Have you try it to change?
hello guys how did you manage to put the digitizer cable in place mine doesn t seem to get in place do i need something to hold the connector in place???

no response on dna after digitizer replacement

So I replaced the digitizer on my dna and afterwards I get no response from the phone. So I was thinking the screen was DOA, and I ordered another digitizer from a different seller on ebay and still got nothing. I plugged it into the pc to see if I could force it on, I did the hard reset, and stilll no response. All cables are perfectly fine and were cleaned with alcohol. Bought a new battery and still nothing. What could it be? Help please.
sounds to be a motherboard issue
Double check those ribbon cables that go from the main board to the front camera/headphone Jack. The ones held on with two screws . Unhooking them and reseat , be sure your hearing or feeling a click. They are very precise.. if you are absolutely sure they are seated correctly redo battery connection. .... if all checks out .... just place it on charge for a long time. Maybe your board is dead
