Just a question in regards to super cid. Im sure it has been posted before (maybe a thousand times) that once you super cid a hermes, its there for good, but if I brick my phone and enter info 2 and get a timing out issue (no cid), is it still there? If I un-brick my phone, will I have to re cid it? Does it do someting physicaly to the chip to never be able to remove cid?
Some info would be great..
Mal..
When you unbrick you restore the CID you had before bricking it. SuperCID if it was SuperCID, other if it wasn't... and no, it doesn't do anything physical to the chip.
having SuperCID is good for as long as you have a valid CID; if you get a bad radio flash that corrupts the CID area then you're still buggered.
Cheers.
Thanks for the reply.
Mal.
Pof too...
I know this one has been asked before, but for instance IF we are planning on sending for a warranty repair (I know i WONT but...) the possibility is there to resotre the CID to a non super-cid one correct??
So mine will be QTEK_001 for my TyTN etc...
This should be possible using the same technique the unlocker does?

I know there is no free utility yet to CID unlock the G4 devices. Those of you that have unlocked your G4's at the IMEI-Check site http://www.imei-check.co.uk/m3000unlock.php Is this just a SIM unlock or also a CID unlock?
If it is a CID unlock are you now able to make a ROM backup using the R2SD method shown in post 8 of this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=258819&highlight=r2sd+backup
This is my main reason for wanting to CID unlock. I want to be able to make a full ROM backup with this method, before trying any new ROMs. My CID locked 9100 gives me this error "You didn't get the proper security level to download a specific image" when I try a R2SD backup

Go ahead and you will be able to do r2sd backups and restore after CID unlock at imei-check.co.uk.
Nishad
So does this CID unlock the phone if it's a G4, you're a bit unclear?
IMEI check is SIM and CID unlocking. If you are gonna do it, see my post here.
yes... using the method availble at imei-check.co.uk will very much CID-unlock your device
NOTE: There's been a lot of posts regarding this subject but the fact of the matter is that you do in fact get your phone CID-unlocked at this website despite what you may have read in other threads...
What are the security or other implications of handing over my IMEI to them? Is that safe?

No worse than handing over your credit card info to them.
IMEI Check is a reputable company, and doing what they do, it is in their best interest to safeguard your information. Also, I've never seen any complaints against them that weren't about how much they charged for their service.
They DO intimate that they can re-lock your phone remotely if you back out on payment, but if you deal in good faith, I don't ever see that as a problem.
Of course, YMMV, but probably not.
How many..?
Hi,
I've heard that my device will be CID locked again after applying one of the ROMs. Does this mean I have to CID unlock my device again??
Just to be sure I can restore my backup ;-)
I've already paid for the CID unlocking, but it seems that the extended rom specifically NEVER installs. This, to me, seems like its not unlocked if that isn't working, or at least not fully unlocked. I've run the unlocking tool (from imei-check) 3 times now, I believe, and installed many different ROMs.
How can you CHECK if the unlock worked on a G4?
moonrock You may check CID having started Prophet in mode bootloader and having started mtty142 and take command info 2 - You see your CID.
imei-check does not do unlocking ExtROM this absolutely area miscellaneous.

Check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290831 where it's explained what arc is talking about in first paragraph
Second paragraph means that ExtROM isn't unlocked by IMEI-check because it's an independent partition of the DOC chip which is write-protected in G3 2.xx and all G4
HELP!!!
hi everyone I know im posting in the wroge thread but this site is really huge, I need any help cuz i begin to hate my ppc and im stiil a student and cant buy another one cuz my father is really anoying, so i got an i-mate pda2 which i really love its design but the prob. is wm2003se there is no other roms i can find + i dont know how to get this cid unlocker and any rom just any , i will be pleased v.much for help i want the links where i can find a cid unlocker and a new rom which can run manila or wm5,6 plz helppp :'(
I just check my X01HT to see the CID code and this is what I read "HTCS0000HTCEUSB". Does this mean that the unit is unlocked already and any rom should work? Thanks
Probably it will be "00000000" (8 zeros instead of 4) which is a SuperCID. If you want to be 100% sure you won't loose SuperCID status, flash something with bootloader 1.04 the first time to make sure it is kept after the upgrade.
Thank you for the help. I am going to use Cingular and I am think about their first version here on the site.
pof: probably question for you.
Is it possible to revert Super-CID? To have device with "normal" CID. Is this would require a lot of work?
I am thinking about program with list of CIDs to lock.

Good idea.. i didnt flash my Vario II because I dont want to loose my warranty!
I even want to buy the program that can manage to recover the Original CID!
I hope someone can develope that piece of software, so i can flash my vario!!
Next version of the Hermes unlocker will allow you to select if you want to SIM-unlock, CID-unlock or both. I'm working on it, so please be patient
Going back to your original CID once you've already set it SuperCID can't be done easily, but if you _really_, _really_, _really_, need it because of warranty reasons, PM me and hopefully we can do anything.

Sorry for the bad english!

I do belive that somehow HTC with upgrade to AKU3.x (I hope it is AKU3.x) will find way of locking SuperCID.
And with all information we have got - change of SPL and IPL to prevent Radio upgrade - I belive that it might be problem for all SuperCIDs.
Just want to be on safe side when it will happen.
pof: just think about way of restoring CID - whit is what my guts are saying.
All preproduction devices are SuperCID, and HTC will not lock it, it is the way they use to give the operators / manufacturers the ability to do some stuff we 'users' can not do
Don't worry about this... they can prevent the radio ROM or the bootloader to be flashed or downgraded, as they did with bootloader 1.09 and softbank's 1.14 radio and most probably will do it with newer radios with radio bootloader V1.008,... but SuperCID will stay there, they will not change your CID with a ROM upgrade
I might send my 8525 back to Cingular for a defective screen, do you guys think they'll deny my claim since I've Super-CID unlocked my phone??
i would just hard reset it and send it back.. how would they know??? plus ur not sayin its a software issue.. so i would think they wont be lookin' for that.. im pretty sure they would just make sure it wasnt in water.. and..it didnt look like a dog chewed it.. then they will probably load up software on it and exchange it to someone else... i would just do it.. but thats me

Remove the miniSD card! I had the same problem
now I get CID back, but how to change the CID to Super CID? If not, the rom doesn't be upgraded.
RUU_Athena_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.2_1.38.00
I tried to update my dutch T-Mobile Ameo with the rom RUU_Athena_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.2_1.38.00 and got at first the connection problem on the device, and after I removed the SD Card the same error 294: Invalid Vendor ID.
this problem is HTC 7500's CID not super CID, so if want to upgrade, we must have the tools to unblock the CID.

and if you have read though the forum, then you know there is no tools to make your device super CID, there is no tool to unblock it. you must return to original ROM.
wu5262 is correct. There is currently no way of making the Athena superCID. No one, to our knowledge, has posted the utility yet. Careful guys with trying to upgrade. You might brick your phone and have an expensive paper weight if you're not careful. Not all files/posts are from reliable sources, etc. Not saying the poster is not reliable but sometimes there is not enough information for everyone's use.

Have you tried olipro cid unlock? Since I unlocked my Athena with this software I haven´t had any trouble when instaling roms that showed "unvalid vendor id" before each time tried of upgading wm6 from developer's to the wm6 recently offered from HTC Asia.

Get the Hard-SPL and install it... ANd Voilâ!!!! Ur last OS again...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
Is there any chance to create hermes noid updater? I mean updater who will no check what CID lock is on device and skip this?
Probably completely misunderstood this from day 1 - but isn't that exactly what Olipro's Hard SPL v7 was designed for? I thought it was designed not to check which CID is on, or whether it's corrupt, etc?
Not exactly. Hard SPL is fake bootloader which run with every rom updater. And I'm talking about fake updater which will work with every bootloader (especialy not hard spl). Same as it was in old pda as himalaya (mda 2), blueangle (mda 3) etc.
Another day, another lesson learned. Thanks Ell82
Hi
I think the main problem is, not the CID check. The reason, why a fake bootloader like HardSPL or SSPL is used is, that the ROM images in .nbh format are digital signed and the booloader checked the valid signature.
HardSPL accepts formally signed code without a valid signature.
That's the reason, why all actual devices used this way.
I may be misunderstanding what you're saying here but...
SSPL will let you flash any ROM to your device. So will HardSPL.
HardSPL ofers a certain limited protection against temporary or permanent bricking.
If you're looking for the easiest way to flash you RUU file to your Hermes, the put in the same folder as 'Faria's RUU Wrapper' - attached to the first post on here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316723 - and run exe using SSPL, but not to flash EXTROM or RADIO, just an 'OS-only' upgrade.
The reason I wasn't sure if I'd understood your question was that all cooked ROMs for a good while have come with an SSPL option.
The attached should do the trick though. It just loads SSPL and runs it which puts your device immediately into a kind of fake bootloader which ignores CID but leaves your actual botloader alone.
Look for the threads on SSPL and on OliPro's HardSPL to see the relative advatages/risks. OliPro's HardSPL is safer, SSPL easier in my opinion, but you should only really use SSPL to load OS or Splashscreens.
Yes, there is litle misunderstanding. I know there is SSPL and what it's do. The reason I was asking about updater with no id is there is a lot of bricked hermes stoping on windows mobile boot screen and not allowing any update on bootloader becosue their not cid unlocked and don't have hard spl. I have device like this, with bootloader 1.09 and looking for any possibility to flash it and unbrick it. There is no way to put sspl to device which not boot to os and which is not cid unlocked and have bootloader 1.09. Or maybe I missed something.

I had SPL 1.09, corrupt CID, and stuck in windows screen after I mistakenly tried to flash a rom which had a lower radio bootloader, it bricked my device, and I didn't have KITL either...
I sent mine to imei-check. com and they did a JTAG flash which brought it back to life, and there is zero sign that this device was ever bricked.
At what cost? I think they have other way to unbrick devices then jtag.

I got this from imei-check:
Prices for fixing:
If the device been unlocked before by imei-check.co.uk (we will check the database for the imei of your handset) price is 20 GBP
If the device been unlocked before by cracked/cloned solution and user confirm this, price is: 60 GBP
If the device been unlocked before by cracked/cloned solution and user lie about it (we can easy detect it) price is: 100 GBP
If the device never been unlocked price is: 40 GBP.
To this prices need to add the delivery costs.

You can email them at:

You can also try the methods here:

but based on the data you gave, you have to send it for JTAG flash, or motherboard replacement.
