Quick questions from the new kid! - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Hi, I've just got a new Vario II for free but as i'm on Orange network I needed it unlocked. I used the 'HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlocker New version v3' which worked perfectly but as I'm a newbie to this I only unlocked the Sim & not the CID! Do I have to got through the same process of unlocking again to unlock the CID or is there another way & is it safe to do it again?
Also what Rom is considered the best for the Hermes?
& last one....Can I sync my Hermes with a Mac ibook G4? (Not sure as the Hermes is running WM5)
I will stop asking questions......Honest!

Quick answers for the new kid!
Answers to all your questions are available for you in the wiki and the threads. Take your time and enjoy the read, you will learn a lot about what you can do with your new device.
Read first, those who try to rush in and flash their device without reading are usually the same ones who are back a few hours later wanting an explanation as to why their phone doesn't work anymore. Besides it is a much more enjoyable experience if you understand what you are doing.

Hermes Downgrading help please

My T mobile branded Vario II fell off my lap yesterday (in its case) Theres not a scratch on it and its only 4months old. Later on i had loads of missed calls and then realised it wont ring or vibrate or play mp3's.
Im currently running one of HTC's Roms, SPL-1.09 is my bootloader and im not sure how to reflash with the original T-mobile rom before i head back to the shop to see about a replacement
I keep getting a invalid vendor id, and from reading posts on the forums i know i need to do something with the cid so i can flash back down to the original rom.But im getting confused between a super cid and a cid? as what ive found below just mentions cid and not super cid.
Is this the file i need? HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a ? i just run the .bat file then install the orginal t mobile rom as normal?
What im basically asking is the above right to ahead with? as i just need some reassurance as if i cant blag one under warranty then ill have to use my insurance which as its my second claim in 6 months has a excess of £60
Yes i have looked on the forums for hours but cant see any info.
Thanks in advance should anyone help
EDIT well ive run the unlocker and supercid'd it but it still wont let me flash with the original t mobile rom?
ERROR:260 Update Error
im getting the above error?
Is all I will say is click on the mrvanx guide in my signature.

GOOD LUCK

thanks guys i will try the above. if not i think ill "loose" the phone
Hi Gavin01,
Good luck with the downgrade - I'd be interested to know how it goes. I also have a T-Mobile MDA Vario II, and so far I've put HardSPL 7 and Radio ROM 1.41 onto it. I'm just trying to decide which WM6 ROM I want to try out
Anyway, I have at the back of my mind that I don't really know how to downgrade it in the case of a warranty claim. The MrVanx guide to downgrading WM5 looks ok, but I'd love to know how to put the radio rom back (I guess this would just be the reverse of the upgrade), but then finally taking taking HardSPL off. In fact I'd vote for a guide on it - would write it myself but I have to confess I'm rather a newbie to the world of HTC upgrades....
Cheers,
sparky
I have the same problem
I´d like to downgrade to original softbank settings. But they only accept warranty issues if you have the original cid? , right?
So putting the old rom back on is not my problem, "un-super-cid" it is.
I need help please too
Hello,
please excuse, but i have a question and i will not open a new threat.
I use tytn. I have installed the Radio Version 1.40 and the Black 3.01 Rom. I have used HardSPL and when i go into the bootloader i have Herm200 IPL 1.04 and Herm200 SPL 2.10 OliPro. My question is: it is not possible to go back to wm5 with the installer RUU Hermes 1.18....-Qtek_Ger_Ship. Because in this installer is a Radio Rom. When i will use it, i lost my Radio and i have No GSM. The only way to go back is with MrVanx Hermes downgrade guide. Is this correctness ??
( This is what i think after using the help-function and the wiki )
When this is right, so Please Please, can a specialist please build a litte .exe-File so that i can make a downgrade to my mw5? Sorry, i am not idle, i am not able to to this. And please excuse my english. I will say say thank you very very much for your helping. With the best regards from Berlin say Christian

CID Unlocking G4 Wizard Devices (T-mobile MDA)

Hello everyone,
I am actually posting this threat because I have been doing a lot of research on How to CID unlock my T-Mobile MDA (HTC Wizard). (Version for USA)
It is a SPL/IPL 2.26, a G4 Device.
What I have done is read almost all threads about this subject. All threads say that you cannot, CANNOT, CID unlock a G4 device unless you do it from this website http://www.imei-check.co.uk/. It costs $40.
I was really looking for an alternative way, and so I called HTC USA. Guess what they told me, they DO NOT unlock CID. The guy that I spoke to told me that to search in www.xda-developers.com... how ironic..
I have tried the lokiwiz, but since it is a G4 device it will not work.
Anyways, I wanted to know if there is another way to CID unlock my MDA G4.
Any help would be great!
G4 has it's own special thread
you should look in the G4 thread under wizard, it has all the information you need for you phone.
Search before asking questions. Use HardSPL to CID unlock G4 phones. All the info is in the G4 section.
Just curious, but will the "Wizard Service Tool" do it?
It APPEARS it would... but I don't have a G4 device....
Flashing G4's
Hi syrupofwood,
I have a wizard like yours.
The question is: Why to CID unlock...? Usually the reason is to be able to flash new Roms that are not TMobile (or any provider) specific.
So then, there are other ways to allow flashing these custom roms into your CID Locked device.
First, always keep in mind that you should not attempt changing your IPL/SPL section. Breaking that piece of rom your wizard might not be able to communicate with anything and become a brick. Remember this as a Golden Rule! (exception is the HardSPL Method itself, but read about that carefully)
Many of the Roms that the forum "Chefs" are distributing are so called "G4 friendly", meaning, they do not package an IPL/SPL section on them(See latest posts in Wizard WM6 forum). I am a "happy user" of itsright's TNT-series roms, but there are many other great Roms being posted in the forum.
Then, refer to the Hard-SPL method(like nitroproductioms mentioned) or also the SoftSPL method which has always worked great for me.(That's the one I use to flash Roms in my wizard)
These two are the first two stickies in this current forum (Wizard G4), so you should have seen them already.
This is the thread for Soft-SPL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329147
Please keep in mind that that single thread contains all the information you would ever need to follow this method for a succesful Rom flash. So, please read it carefully and follow all steps.
There are other methods that can also be used ( ie: shelltool), which work great but they are not as streamlined as the SoftSPL.
Having a G4, forget about lokiwiz for anything other than SIM-unlocking the device. Great tool, but its CID unlocking does Not work for G4s.
Welcome to xda-developers forum (and the Wizard family )
Have fun!
Correct me if I am mistaken but I know I know how to read and in the first post it says that his IPL/SPL is 2.26. That would make his device a G3. Sounds like someone needs to do their homework. Read the wiki. There's a link to a very complete tutorial in my signature.
G3, G$ and unlocking
I think some G4 devices do have 2.26 IPL/SPL.
As to unlocking G4, there is no known free process to that. However, there is a company that would do that for a fee. I don't rememer its name though.

Hello all,
First of all, thank you all for the posts.
Here is the thing. The reason why I want to CID unlock my device is to upload different ROMS. (Mainly why I posted this thread under WM6 category)
Obviously I did some homework... and tried different methods like Shelltool and to tell you the truth it just doesn't quite work. My rom will be corrupted, features on the phone will not work properly..
dharvey4651 actually many many 2.26 devices are G4, like mine. I tried using lokiwiz to CID unlock it and the tool would give me an error which meant that it was actually a G4 device. That is not really the way I found that out, but that just made it sure.
nitroproductions I will try HardSPL today. I did read about it before but I was not too sure about it. What everyone points out is that messing with your SPL is kinda dangerous. I will try it and hope it goes all right. On this thread I was mainly looking for an alternative from www.imei-check.co.uk/.
Again, thanks for the posts everyone.

If you have a 2.26 ILP/SPL it's a G3 !!!
If you have a 2.26.0001 IPL/SPL it's a G4.
No discussion possible!
Lokiwiz only CID unlocks 1.01 ≥ 1.05 bootloaders (as told in stickies)
If you force the hardSPL to a G3, it will be bricked.
BTW ALL wizards can be unlocked for free

syrupofwood, I used HardSPL to unlock my CID. If you follow the instructions properly, you will have no problems. I was scared too before I did it coz it meant modifying the IPL/SPL part of the phone, but I followed the instructions carefully and everything worked out fine. Its a great hack and props to the developers. Good luck.
Solution
Ok, here it goes;
My device ended up not being G4, it was a G3. ( No discussion possible! )
The issue was that it was a T-Mobile MDA/HTC WIZARD WITH AKU2 .
A little detail...
The solution I used was done by faria (great!!) and is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=263116&highlight=unlocking
I followed every detail and got my device working.
Thanks all!.

Unlocking and upgrading ROM for 8525

I have a quick question, I didn't see it anywhere so thought I'd ask:
I'm going to be buying a locked 8525 and I want unlock it so I can use with T-Mobile and I want to upgrade the ROM to one of the many ROMs available here.
My question is: is there a particular order this must be done? Can I upgrade the ROM then unlock? Do I have to unlock, then do ROM? Or will upgrading the ROM unlock for me?
Just wanted to check if there one's a certain way, or if anyone else was in a similar situation.
Thanks.
you can do it which ever order you want
Thanks, I just wanted to make sure.
I want to upgrade to a custom ROM and didn't know if there was an order, etc.
Thanks a lot. Appreciate it.
check out the fourth stickied thread in this forum for info on unlocking, then the first stickied thread in the Hermes Mobile 6 forum for the BEST info on flashing.
= D
Take a look at my videos!
Be a good idea after unlocking to check your SPL again because I'm pretty sure you downgrade it to SPL 1.40. This culd problems if you then try to refash thinking you've got Hard SPL ver 7 (SPL : 2.10 Olipro) installed. Cheers..

HTC 3400/Gene sim-unlock

Hi guys, this is my first thread here in XDA. I think this is a great site the best i have seen for pocket machines.
It was helpful in the past when i had a HTC wizard. Now i have an HTC touch/ELF and soon an HTC UNiversal
My brother has bought an HTC 3400/Gene recently and i already have followed instructions for SPL and HSPL, everything worked like a charm, thanks.
However it is locked to a national portuguese operator. I have been reading the forum/wiki regarding Gene and i haven´t found anything yet to unlock this device. Is it possible to unlock? If anyone has found a solution for this could you please share it here?
I know there are other threads about it, but i decided to write one more so we don´t forget this issue
Regards
Fenix7
Anyone?
You can unlock sim and vendor / provider
Hey dude! check out the SIM / CID unlocking in Gene upgrading etc. I think you can do it by Gene_hspl and supported tools.
All the best

Orange SPV M3100 rom upgrade to WM6/6.1

my cousin has 2 orange spv m3100 and was thinking about upgrading them to windows mobile 6 or 6.1 depending on rom's available
is this easily done?
and would it be best to unlock the phone so it can go on all networks before the rom update or after it?
all advice would be great thank you
Upgrading your device's rom is quite easy after youve done it once, just check the wiki page, upgrading for beginners this should tell you all you need to know about flashing a rom for the first time.
Have fun
cheers scotty
we're guna havea play about with both of them next tuesday/wednesday when we're both free
maybe unlock teh sim so it goes any network aswell
another quick question
do you know if the latest rom on there for the orange spv m3100 is a wm6 build?
no there wasnt a wm6 released for the spv m3100 the actual newest orange rom is a update on wm5 it is in my uploaded file i think if you want to have a look, i used a cooked rom after hard-spl and super cid everything works fine and i have flashed quite a few roms.
Have fun
thanks
do you know of any wm6 roms for the spv?
or if i got the phone unlocked and used a vodafone sim in it would i be able to flash vodafone roms or would i still have to use the orange rom?
James, going to your original question, I've recently done this myself, and over the past week, i've flashed my phone numerous times, so its very easily done.
Just read the guides, and make sure your 100% confident that you've understood it, I did and i'm 100% happy with the outcome!
Thanks Greeee
did you flash a wm6 or a wm5?
cause it comes with a wm5, but wanna updte to a wm6
Tbh, I should've explained something...
My phone is the HTC Hermes 200, not the SPV M3100, although they are the same phone, mines not branded by any network.
It was shipped to me (Bought secondhand) as WM6.1, so all I did last week was updated the HardSPL and since tried a few roms.
I didn't have to use SuperCID, to unlock mine, as it was unlocked, but I do wish you well buddy, and word of recommendation, try not to use branded software on phones, as they bog them down with too much bloatware, stick with what you like.
If need be, I'll help where I can, but tbh, your in safer hands with everyone in here, as all I did was read the guides, and stuck to what was being advised.
The people here are good, which makes it so much easier to use!
cheers Greeee
well im thinking of getting it unlocked before i do anything to it anyway, when using roms without a specified carrier does that mean i can use any rom or is it best to stick with the operator specified?
if you super cid you device you can use any rom that has been cooked or from any carrier as it is basically a unlock for that a bit like a sim unlock. most people use the cooked roms by the chefs in the wm6 part of the forum where there are wm6/6.1 and 6/5 roms that have been cooked and have different features so you will probably have to do a bit of flashing and some looking around before you find a rom that is best suited to you.
If you have ne more questions just ask, Have fun
cheers again scotty
super cid, that easy to do?
just like flashing?
and could i sitll use any carrier rom even if i got someone at a shop to unlock my phone to any carrier?
super cid an sim unlocking is different to flashing i think i dont really remember
wiki on sim an cid unlock here
and a thread here
hope this helps and saves u paying to have it unlocked good luck
yer unlocking and super cid are dif to flashing
are super cid and unlocking the same you know?
cheers for the links, i'll try saving some cash now
no problem and they both come in the same program you just choose which one you want to do both.
Good luck
whats teh splbootloader thing what i been reading about?
it says you need to install that or something :s
do you mean hard-spl?
yer thats what i mean
you will need to flash version 7 2.10 after the sim and cid unlock this prevents your device from bricking if a flash goes wrong
cheers
so sim/cid unlock
then flash hard spl 7 2.10
then flash my rom?
