Okay, I paid the money to have my phone unlocked via the UK company, and my wifes as well. Now it seems that the unlock did not take on my phone. Any ideas why this miight have happend? It is not allowing me to install Faria WM6 extended ROM. This is really irritating. Is there anyone out there who could help me with this?
What do you mean by "did not take" and "not allowing"? Tell us exactly what you're doing.
It did not fully unlock my phone. I can not install the extRom for Faria's WM6.
It worked great on my wife's. I have found we have identical phones. Both
G4. IMEI-check said to reinstall the oem ROM and do it again. Now, I can not install that. Gives me an error. This is freaking killing me.
Well, not sure how, but after spending all day on this thing, it just decided to work. Thanks for the offer for the help though!
If I understand you correctly imei-check gave you an error and said to try again? What you could try is flashing wizard_love (flashes on all locked devices) and try unlocking again.
You can download wizard_love from:
http://rapidshare.com/files/17792050/Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii_CF2.rar
EDIT: Glad it works now! Have fun with WM6!
That is actually what I ended up doing. I did not get an error, that was from IMEI-check cusotmer support. Said to go back and start over again. I have the full ROM now, just seems like a little extras file is missing. Some days, I hate technology

Ok, I give up. I've been searching all night and I cannot find an answer - all the answers that I have found seem to have driven me and my device further to a state that is unrecoverable.
First I couldnt update the rom at all because it crashed mid way, then I finally did get an OS up and running, yet with no radio - no imei or phone functions. I couldnt update radio rom, and I couldnt revert to the original. I now have just a boot loader, that I cannot install anything on to, at all.
"
HERM300
IPL-1.01
HERM300 MFG
SPL-1.01"
I know I'm running the wrong boot loader now, but it was in effort of persuing being able to update the radio rom. I'm following the instructions to change it and at "task 32" Im getting "FF"
Please. Someone help. I cannot be accused of searching first hand as I've been sat here since 7pm trying to sort this, its now 3:44.
Cheers.
you didnt change to hardspl boot loader before u tried to update it?

man, OP, please tell us you did...
have you tried reading here?
and here?
yes. and yes. Thanks for the quick replies - looks like im still up with it.
Bad times.. " you didnt change to hardspl boot loader before u tried to update it?" - this I dont understand. I've been following my nose all night. I've updated roms before, but i've never had any issues, certainly not like this.
Good times.. I've got it to boot. and I'm running WM6 "Pro Black" on the thing as we speak. so its not that dead..
I still have no radio version, nor imei, and spl/ipl is still 1.01. I'm trying to update radio rom, but it hangs at 0%.
i take it youve ruled out a bad usb connection? have you considered trying the SD CARD method of upgrading your rom?
thats all but ruled out, as i havent got an sd reader attached.
im making some headway, got the SPL at 1.10.Oli - still cant install radio rom though!
interesting. the shipped tmobile rom is now working...
I say working, its getting up to 13%. which is more than the 0 i was getting earlier.
Ok. So we're up to normal bootloader
IPL 1.04
SPL 2.10
No radio rom will install though. at all. error 262.
I have the same probleem with my t mobile vario 2. I can only upgrade OS ONLY rom, when I try to flash radio it freeze 0% error 262. I've tried evrything from wiki but nothing has worked jet. I hoop sameone can help us.. thanks

have you considered SIM/CID unlocking your phone? just a thought. not a definite solution. proceed with the latter (CID) AT YOUR RISK as ive heard changing CID to SUPER CID will make your device SUPER CID for eternity (?) and may void any warranty that you have..

Then leave, no offense.
If you don't want to mod it, then take what your provider gave you and be happy. If not, then download some commercial applications.
But if you want to improve your phone, and make it realize it's full potential, then you are gonna have to get in to some mods.
Sorry mate, I'm just fed up with all the "how do I make my phone neato keano" questions from people.
It takes some willingness to experiment, some computer know how, and 99 times out of 100 all will be well. (BTW, I'm the one out of the hundred, I totally bricked one).
Retail ROMS, no such thing, you can't buy em.
Heh, jeez man, you seem to make alot of assumptions based on no information.
I am very computer literate, and I am passing down my phone to somebody else who has no clue how to do this stuff and probably does not care for it either.
I had a cooked ROM on it, but went back to a retail SPL and installed the retail AT&T (Beta?) WM6 Rom on my 8525.
Seriously though, you shouldn't assume such things about people especially over the internet.
The key benefit to HardSPL is that it protects accidental overwrite of SPL & IPL. Basically, it protects against bricking the phone. If it were me, I would always keep HardSPL, even if I were running a retail ROM. It really only affords protection during flashing process, so if you are not going to flash anything, you really don't need it - kinda like wearing a condom whike you aren't having sex, I guess. However, unlike the condom example, when you do decide to flash again, you would have to put HardSPL on there, which is itself a flashing process, so you would be vulnerable.
Always practice safe flashing!
Thanks, Todd.
I think you already answered about this in the other thread...but not yet. I can't get a retail ROM to install without extracting it first..even on SPL-Retail
lol i remember when i got my x01ht... i wanted to keep it softbank and just have this sexy phone from japan.... I read japanese so that wouldnt have been a problem and I am moving back to japan next year, so I thought it was perfect.
I had to unlock it using a code (which worked after flashing to hardspl 1.10 and then back to hardspl 2.10), but softbank still had that stupid welcome.exe issue. So i flashed to HTC's WM6 wwe rom. No more 'neato keano' for me.
Then i discovered letsjapan and ime3_1qvga (whatever its called)... I can have my japanese functionality with an english rom!! w00t.
Then i discovered schaps... I am so far from neato keano... but still barely breaking the surface.
I know this story is pointless, but if anyone is reading this with the 'neato keano' idea... get real, try some stuff and you will never go back (unless for warranty purposes ).

Is your phone CID unlocked? Maybe you have a mismatched CID. HardSPL bypasses the CID check, retail does not.

Hi Todd,
my phone is unlocked via a code from AT&T, so I didn't use any of the tools found on this forum. So I think it is still SuperCIDed??
The updater just crashes, I posted a screenshot in the other thread. If I extract the directory and run the RUU by itself it flashes fine.
Maybe because I am trying to flash the same ROM again on top of the same one??

Well, the code almost certainly would not superCID your phone. Only remove the SIM lock. The RUU is checking the CID restriction on the phone and disallowing the flash. The only flash that would work without unpacking is the one intended for and released by your carrier - AT&T rom to AT&T rom, for example. As I mentioned, the reason unpacking works is because Oli's RUU bypasses the CID check. Does seem odd that the same ROM won't flash though...
Well I being stupid person that I was loaded Faria's rom without unlocking my G4 it got to 99% and errored saying update error and such. So i did some research finding out that I had to unlock first, now after reaidng some tutorials I see things about uploading the EnableRapi to my 8125 but problem is when I turn it on it only has the rainbow colors I can't get in to the phone and I can't use it..
Could anyone please help me and guide me or paste me a thread on how I can fix this. I've been researching for hours and haven't gotten anywhere. If anyone can please help me itll be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
All you have to do is put your phone in bootloader mode then flash wizard love or the rom that your device was shipped with.
You havent told us what wm5 rom your device originally had on it so we cant help you there but Wizard Love can be found here and here.

i've installed farias o1st wm6 rom on my g4 device using the shelltoll method..
i wanted 2 try nother wm6 rom
do i have 2 go thru the entire unlock process again or just use the shell tool with the new rom
ok
u hav 2 go thru the unlocking CID process again & everytime u want 2 reflash
Cingular 8125 G4
All seems to be working back to normal question though using the shelltools it doesn't display all the information about the phone when I press Get Info, i have a 2.x.0001 but when I press get info it wont show the info on CID or the option below it, but itll allow me to Extract OS, is that okay? or do if I flash it, it won't work?

so i tried flashing it I thought it was successful I did the hard reset after I ran the ShellTools. Was I supposed to do anything after the hardreset? Because I though then maybe I can go on to trying Faria's stuff but when I did got to 99% and 302 error occured so now im flashing back to old ROM, any hints? tips? or programs to make the G4 unlocking easier? any or maybe any roms out there you know of that won't mess with the SPL/IPL that I can just load the rom and use it?
Thanks

So you tried to flash Faria's rom to a CID locked G4 then when that didnt work you used shelltool. Following this you tried to flash Faria's rom to your still CID locked G4 and it didnt work again?
I'm a bit confused so I'll start at the beginning again. If you do in fact own a G4 CID locked device then the only way that you can upgrade your OS is to use shelltool, unless you want to pay imei-check to unlock it. Using the RUU method to update a CID locked G4 will produce an error and not finish flashing or it will complete the flashing process but your OS will not have changed.
Shelltool doesnt unlock your device, it will still be CID locked after shelltool completes. Shelltool only updates OS so the chance of bricking your device is minimal. Hope this helps.
Hi everyone,
Just got my new 8525. No luck with it shipping with WM6 already. (I guess most of you figured that)
I have some more questions before I start messing with this. First, my current config:
HERM100 (ATT 8525)
IPL= 1.03
SPL= 1.11
When is booting from SR is says:
M 05
S 06
B 04
Radio 1.40.30.00
ROM 2.15.502.3
ROM Date 04/09/07
Protocol vs 32.73.7020.16H
I plan on using this on my ATT network and am not interested in using it anywhere other than on ATT for now so, no need to unlock SuperCID or anything like that now.
Desire: Install a BBC compliant WM6 with no BLOAT.
What I know from the Wiki and the forums:
I can install Hard-SPL and the new VPG3 Ver3 BBC Rom from VPG3. This seems to be a very stable, fast, clean ROM. Should I need to go back to bare bones stock, I read this thread and went to this site. The details are there and the step-by-step is clear and concise. I understand it and know that I can do this.
My question:
1) It says that I can revert back from HardSPL to either SPL 1.06 or 1.04 but, I have 1.11. How do I then revert back to what I have?
2) From what I understand, by reverting back to the 1.04 or 1.06, I have removed HardSPL so, in theory, I can just re-flash the OEM ROM, right? Or, is it not that simple?
3) If it is, will the OEM ROM then re-flash everything (Radio, OS, SPL, IPL, etc.)back to the OEM state prior to me mucking around with it?
4) Will my carrier be able to tell if I screwed with it?
I have done about 1 weeks worth of seaching and reading and learning before I decided to do anything. I am new to this somewhat but, I have flashed OEM ROMS before so I am comfortable. I also own an IMATE JAM that I have messed with too. The point is that I am trying to learn as much as I can on my own using existing info before bugging the community. Can never be too cautious.
I appreciate your help in advance.
Personally I would advise against it, as an 8525 owner. I've already kind of screwed mine up.
Here is what happened to mine. I installed an "official" build of wm6 on my phone after installing hardspl. The install worked fine but I found the software to be very buggy. I had to restart a lot. Then I installed a newer build. The install went ok but the software was even worse. Yesterday i tried reverting back to wm5, which i was able to do (after problems all day) but now I have all kinds of radio issues. Everything is factory on my phone except the radio version. I am going to try to send it in for warranty who knows how that will go though. If you look at the cingular forums it looks like wm6 will officially be available this month. I wouldn't risk voiding your warranty over getting a new os on your phone 2 weeks before you can officially do it. Also I might add there is not a huge difference between the 2 operating systems. comparing the 2 would be similar to comparing win95 to win 98, nothing groundbreaking
As to your questions:
I did have hardspl on my phone and was able to take it off. It took me down to 1.04. I have no clue what I had on it before, I'm assuming that may be correct though.
I haven't been able to downgrade my radio.
In theory you can reinstall the offical wm5 rom, but mine freezes at 12% when it tries to install the old radio.
While some people have had no problems, I have had a lot. From reading this board it seems hit and miss. Beware.
Thank you very much! I really just need something to run BlackBerry Connect. This, along with the elimination of the BLOAT is the only real reason I am considering this. I do appreciate your insight.

Titan bastards? Kind of rough don't you think?
I know he posted something over at PPCGeeks. He put it in the hardspl thread. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=9093
I think he means it affectionately.
Maybe we are Titan Bastards, it seems Sprint and other companies have abandoned this phone, we onlyl have a few here like Olipro, DCD and others who continue to develop this rom and make it awesome, so my thanks to them.
yeah i talked with Olipro letting him know that i packaged it and put it up in that link. Not sure yet if he will redo it and update here or what, but he generally uses those terms for his Hard-SPL users. Like his topic in irc for another device SPL "...Hard-SPL-2.60 is out now ****wits! ..."
Either way his patched SPL is working now and it's currently available, but it may be revised.
He's British right? Reminds me of a movie I just watched "This is England" where he calls one of the kids a "cheeky bastid!". BTW, just tried 2.40 right now, works wonderful.
olipro patched that bootloader fast as hell. nothing we do here would be possible without his help. thank you olipro
I am anything u want me to be OLIPRO !!! for i am a unworthy titan owner who has been blessed by all that U and others do for my less than perfect phone.
AND anyone who takes offense to being a titan bastard, can go get a IPHONE
yeah thanks for the hard work mate.

how has sprint abandoned this phone? we wouldnt even have this new rom and bootloader if the rom sprint has been working on hadnt been leaked (and after using it for 2 days i can see why it hasnt been officially released yet)
im a noob i know i know i shouldnt be doing this unless i have a good understanding which i thought i did but now i am thinking twice. I tried to intall the new unlocker 2.40, i did everything it asked of me and now its stuck in the three color screen and i have no clue how to get out of it nothing is working, Activesync wont connect. someone please help!!!!
I am in the same boat. I got to the boot loader screen no problem, I upgraded to titan_radio_3.27.00.exe no problem. I then ran ROMUpdateUtility.exe from dcd_2.0.0_beta_sprint.exe.
No errors or problems but when i rebooted it hangs onit just hangs at the "HTC smart mobility" screen.
If I tried to replace the dcd_2.0.0_beta_sprint.nbh with another .nbh could that save me?
I am able to get to the boot loader screen and have USB, but on warm or cold boot it just hangs at the "HTC smart mobility" screen.
Seems if i have boot loader access, i am not hosed.
I did run the latest unlocker Hard-SPL-MFG(2).exe
the new radio/spl is not compatible with the older roms. Something in the XIP has changed and if not present your device will hang.
are you aware of a solution?
you guys are having problems cause you did not run titanrelocker before flashing the ne stuff, or if you ran it you did it wrong.
it is imperative that you run the bat file inside of titanrelocker folder as opposed to running ruu.exe file.
for you to do that now that you are stuck ya gotta boot to bootloader mode , flash a older rom then activesynce and relock the phone the right way.
I just want to point out the fact that this is about the 4th question of the exact same nature i have answered today. I had none of these problems because i READ before i installed. none of what ive said here is news as it WAS ALL MENTIONED IN THE FIRST POST OF KMARTBURRITO'S THREAD
the moral of the story: dont friggin mess with anything if you cant be assed to read the first post of the thread of the rom you're flashing.
have a nice day
Thanks, i appreciate your comments and i thought i was understanding this.
Can you recommend a older ROM and DL location?
Also just to be sure, to re flash i would just switch the current .nbh for the older one. Correct?
As a linux admin i understand noobs on the forum. I am trying to learn I am sorry for the inconvenience. I only posted cause i am desperate and failed trying to fix on my own.

I flashed my phone awhile ago. So it was before any new hard spl.
Anybody that can upload it here or link it to here, from somewhere other than ppcgeeks? There site is down, and I'm sitting here ready to re-up the SPL to try the new dcd rom, since his 1.6.10 keeps not waking up for phone calls and SMS.
