I tried to serach this on the forums but could not find a similar case.
I have a Qtek that originally came with 2.22.17.1 rom, both IPL/SPL being 2.22.0001.
I CID unlocked my G4 Wizard with imei-check. Before installing Qtek's 2.17 ROM in order to get BB Connect running (which I did), I backed up the original ROM via aWizard and r2sd all.
Two days later, frustrated by the not so cool reconciliation of my email messages via BB Connect and the poor performance of 2.17 ROM, I decided to move back to the original one.
Now my IPL is 2.22.0001 and the SPL is 2.17.0001.
Do I have to Should I be concerned about this or should I forget it?
Thanks
Rafael K
If you're device still boots ok then I think it's not much of a problem. It's very strange though, haven't seen it before.
Solved Partially
The device was and is working ok (so it seems).
Well, I have installed T-mobile 2.21 rom this morning in order to try BB Connect again. I must say that this ROM is much faster than QTek's 2.17 (and very similar in performance when compared to QTek's 2.22 - the one my PPC came with).
Now I have IPL/SPL both at 2.21. I imagine that if I try to get back to QTek 2.22, I will end up with IPL 2.22 and SPL 2.21.
I'm afraid that when I dumped the whole original ROM before starting to play with other roms, the SPL wasn't copied correctly. I didn't see any errors while restating the original rom, but who knows what may really be the cause...
Thanks for your reply.
You got 2 of the same version numbers now. I wouldn't flash another ROM that contains IPL/SPL if I were you because it could have side-effects.
If you like the speed of the T-Mobile rom than you will be really impressed by the great custom roms around on this site. If you're device is still CID-locked (can only be unlocked through paying at imei-check) I suggest Molski's 2nd 2.26 edition rom. Allways take the G4 version, never flash a G3 rom!
Thanks, Vippie.
I now understand I have to get rid of the IPL/SPL portion of the roms available. When I have more time, I will read about it and make it a "personnal best practice"...

Well, I would certainly like to give other ROMs a shoot but I am really interested in maintaining the blackberry connect service working here and, up to now, as I understanding, the best combinations for that involve Qtek version 2.17 or Tmo 2.21 ROMs.
Best,

I'm running ROM Version 1.18.255.3
Radio Version 1.03.03.10
with boot loader 1.06
I want to know if I can upgrade the Radio version to one of the newer ones. I have an HTC TyTN, unlocked, using Cingular Service. I'm just worried that if I upgrade the radio I won't get any access...any tips, or suggestions?
Yes I have read the Hermes upgrading guide, but it doesn't answer my questions.
I'd try re-reading it, and a few threads on here that have to deal with RADIO roms....

mate honestly if you read the guides and this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295751 you would have a basic idea. If you still cant understand it then read the wiki here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/

Hi sir, it would be better for you to thoroughly read the wiki and various threads on this. Having seen your ROM version etc... I would definatly recommend flashing a newer TyTN rom, the latest one available that is still in WM5 is the AKU3.3 ROM which has the newer radio rom in it aswell, you will possibly get better call reception etc.... also the ROM is a HELL of alot more stable than the one you are running now. Video playback in TCPMP/Coreplayer works with ATi Imageon turned on, and works flawlessly in rawframbuffer mode (so you can watch divx and things on your TyTN....worth it for the train)
Dont be too quick to flash it though....definatly read up on what you are doing before you go ahead. Any more questions (once you have read up ) come back here.
Alright, I was up pretty late last night reading the wiki. I'll continue to read today, and then I'll have some more questions. I've almost got it sorted, so...
Thanks alot guys for the help, as I was considering returning my TyTN, and going back to my older mobile.

:O NO WAY!!!!! you havent even touched the realms of stuff you can do with it!
Ok so heres some questions to start off with.
After reading the wiki, I kind of took myself in a loop. At first I just wanted to upgrade the Radio. It told me to downgrade to 1.04, and then I would be able to load any radio version I wanted. So I went to the downgrade page, and it said I needed the CID Unlocker. I tried to download that, however the zip is a corrupt file. If anyone has it, and could send it to me, that would be appreciated.
Now my next question is...do I need to use the CID Unlocker to be able to upgrade the ROM? Or can I just download AKU 3.3, install it, and it will flash the ROM without any problems.
Thanks!
EDIT: So I went here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=282073, to check the CID / SIM Unlocker, but it says I need to downgrade to 1.04, because I can upgrade.
Try reading: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
I read that, and I went ahead and ran the program.
I'm still using SPL 1.06
ROM Version still 1.18.255.3
Radio has been updated to 1.16.00.00.
Reception still hasn't changed much. I'll have 4Bars to start with, and then it will drop to 2...
I also used the CID/SIM Unlocker, so I'm good to go.
That means I should be able to load AKU3.3 right? Or should I downgrade to SPL 1.04 first?

So youve unlocked the device and changed it to SuperCID. Good work.
Just run the latest AKU3.3 HTC rom (its at the top). You will get an updated radio version and the new AKU, remember to backup all your stuff and be prepared to reinstall all the settings/applications. As i said again, dont flash the rom unless you are sure you know what you are doing.
I should be good. I'm about to run it, once it finishes the download.
I just have 2 conerns...will the radio reception be any better, and 2 is it really that much better? I was looking for the "updates faq's", or what was included, but I didn't see anything.
Also the other thing, is not really a concern but more of it being tiedious, is re-entering all of the WAP, and MMS, settings...ballocks...oh well. Here goes...

If you are going to play with the TyTN like us people on here are (such as testing WM XDA-Live) you will get used to adding the MMS/GPRS settings.
There is a NOTICEABLE improvement in reception from radio version 1.27.00.00 onwards, the version in the HTC-AKU3.3 rom package is 1.34.10.00 so you SHOULD see a slight improvment. Stability is by far the best thing on that ROM.
I highly recommend downloading TCPMP and trying out some .avi files on it as it is the version with the ATi Imageon chip working as desired.
Since upgrading to radio 1.27 (and later to 1.35.00.11) the 3G reception of my TyTN has improved alot, such that i can get 3G reception downstairs where before i only got strong GSM.
Alright, the upgrade went smooth, now I just have to go and add in the MMS, and GPRS settings, so...I'll get around to that a little later.
So I have the latest ROM version, with the latest boot loader. I am a little dissapointed though. Even with the newest Radio version, it still does not pickup a signal as well as my Sony W810i did. Prehaps interference, from the bluetooth, or the Wi-Fi radios. However I don't even have those turned on. Hurm...
The OS runs alot smoother than the previous build. Now I just have to go in and tweak the settings. Everything else though seems to be nice.
About the radio. With my W810i, the signal was very strong, even when in the buildings on my college campus. However the reception from the TyTN, isn't as strong. This might end up being the breaking point...I'll keep testing it out, so we'll see.
As of right now though, I've full integrated my life into this device. I have my comlete daily schedule planned in with classes, meetings, ect. Today in class, rather than taking notes I was able to logon to the website, and download the powerpoint presentation that was being used, and used that for my notes. Gotta love having a campus that is 100% Wi-Fi.
Thanks for the help with the upgrade. I'm glad you stepped in otherwise I would have turned around and sold it, even though I've very happy with my TyTN, everything but the Radio problem though...
uh, "Latest" Boot Loader? You mean you put 1.09 on the phone? or are you talking about the RADIO bootloader? That you now have 0108?
If you put 1.09 on the phone you'll want to, IMHO, read about how to DOWNGRADE to Oli's 1.10.oli or 1.01MFG or 1.04 if you really want...
You should be able to do it with SSPL, but, I'd suggest you READ CAREFULLY this time.
Yeah its 1.09.
I'll take a look into what you just mentioned, and read up on it, now that I'm more familiar, and a little more secure with this. I was kind of worried, about flashing the rom, after reading alot of the "be careful...", or "at your own risk". So...
Obviously I will procceed with caution...
Any other pointed, tips would be appreciated. Thanks as always!
Ok, so I think I'm going to have to send in my device for warranty repairs. Miraculously I got wm5 back on my device, removed hardspl, and after a few no gsm errors somehow the radio has started working (somtimes, at least it shows up!). Unfortunately I have radio version 1.54.07.
Obviously I can't play dumb and act like I don't know what happened since my radio version is so high. I have read that I can't downgrade if my radio bootloader is 1.06 or higher. How do I find this out? I know my bootloader version is 1.04, would my radio one be the same? Also do you think they would even notice if I sent this in like this?
Here are my 3 options:
1. Send it in as is, with the correct version of wm5 and an upgraded radio telling them it is freezing and searches for a signal constantly.
2. Attempt to reinstall the full official rom from the htc site and if it bricks tell them i don't know what happened and the upgrade ruined my phone
3. Same as #2 but wait until their official release of wm6
Anyone with any experience with this? I'd be very grateful!
Hi,
Hopefully someone can tell me the correct guide to upgrade my iMate JasJam from WM5 to WM6? I've read the guides, but there's so much choice I'm confused! I really don't want to brick my phone as I use it for business. I live in New Zealand so do I need to do anything else to get it working on the Vodafone NZ network?
Can someone tell me the guide I should use which will work?
iMate are useless and never released an official WM6 update.
I'm thinking of following this guide but using the Black Satin ROM. Any objections?
following that should be fine BUT first you need to sim/cid unlock your Phone and install hard SPL on it. this will make it easier to fix if something goes wrong. Both programs you need can be found at the top of the list on this part of the forum. PLEASE also read MR Vanx's guide to flashing your phone as it Will definately be beneficial. After Flashing the first 2 things onto your Hermes you can pick whatever rom you want. Black satin is an older rom but fairly stable. Good uck and happy flashing...
Ok, unlock then hard SPL first, got it.
What's newer and more stable than Black Satin then?
Pays, Schapps, these guys really know what they're doing, I personally like TNT se. Thats my preference. What you need to do is search the forum and find a rom you like. Each person likes different things and me telling you what I like may be completely different to what you want or need. Alot of roms come with 3rd party apps cooked in but if you want speed then go for a lite rom. I'm also trying out the 6.1 roms but there have been stability issues. My preference there is Faria-R32 Dr Puttingham WM6.1 HERMES ROM-CUSTOM+CLEAN. It seems to be stable for my purposes. Research and find what you like... Cheers
Sweet I'll check it out. Thanks mate.
Hmm bit confused now. Which do I run first? The unlocker or the Hard SPL?
Because in the 'HTC Hermes SIM & CID Unlock - v3a' instructions iit says "New RUU will make sure HardSPL-1.40 is installed before flashing the radio". As far as I know I don't have any HardSPL on my device at the moment. So that must mean I need to run the HardSPL first? Then the unlocker?
Also as far as HardSPL goes, there is a v9 Hard-SPL-2.60 out. Should I use that or the 2.10 - Hard-SPL-V7??
hardspl first, the sim unlocker. for version, just go with v9.
Yeah did the HardSPL first, then the SIM unlocker. The SIM unlocker actually downgraded the HardSPL to 1.4.olipro so I had to run the HardSPL to bring it back up to the other level 2.60. Weird...
Anyway I'm up and running!
Radio version is now: 1.43.00.00
ROM: Schap's 4.30
The thing I was hoping to eliminate with WM6 was the slow time it takes to dial numbers on the phone. Whenever you dial a key there's like a 1/2sec delay before it appears on the screen. I'd like it to be instant. The delay makes me think the phone is slow and it's really annoying. Anyone know if it can be fixed?
Hello,
Just wondering which rom and radio to enable GPS would be the most reliable and compatible with the Telus service.
As well, does anyone know when Telus will release the official rom update? They recently released the one for the Touch , but I haven't come across any info on the P4000 version.
Hi. I am running 3.42 with DCD 3.2.5 and have had great results. DCD's Roms/kitchen are the best so far. I wouldn't hold your breath for Telus to release a ROM update for the P4000.
Choose the ROM/Kitchen that is best for you. There is nothing special about the Telus CDMA network that will cause it to perform differently than others with the available radios and ROMs. To choose, the forum already has most of the info that you are in search for.
...Only Telus knows when and if they choose to release their second update -- the first and only being for original WM 5 Titans to upgrade to one of the earliest WM 6 builds for a Titan in July 2007.

Alright, I was reading that when you flash, sometimes you have to write down the ESN and some numbers incase it gets reprogrammed. If i use these current DCD roms, will I have to mess with that or should it be work once i'm done flashing?
Also is 3.42 the bootloader or the radio? Which radiodo you use?
careful! there are two 3.42 roms. (3.42.02 and 3.42.30). the second one is far better for GPS than the first. Remember, you need to first install the olipro 2.40 unlocker, then run the Sprint 3.56/3.42.02 rom/radio combo (comes in one installer package). Then run the hard spl 1.20 unlocker to install 3.42.30. Once that is done, install the 2.40 olipro again. and you're all set

And it is simple, unspecific instructions like this that cause people to install Sprint Customizations and then moan and ***** about their phone converting to Sprint Service..
Just to clarify for anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about...
If you are installing a Sprint ROM on your non-Sprint Titan, RESET the phone before customizations run (it will be like "Running customizations in 3..2...1..." then it will do it, and it will convert your phone's settings to Sprint, which can be a nightmare)
I'm not trying to be a hardass or anything, but I just don't want another person making the same mistake that so many have made for stupid reasons in the past.
Besides, you can install the radio w/o flashing Sprint's firmware, as long as you've never flashed the radio before.
