So my wive has a cheap mobile phone that has the ability to set a profile, so she can quickly change it to meeting mode, in the car or sleeping mode. Am I to understand that the *MUCH* more expensive XDA has no such thing? That is an outrage...tell me this is not true!!

As a result of loading that software...I just finished a hard reset. After playing with it for 15-mins, it timed out...telling me that my evaluation period had expired! Then, after I removed it....all of my audio settings were possesed. While the system was muted...I was STILL getting sounds.
Not impressed..surely someone can do better
sorry about that I have not tried the prog. If i need sounds completely off then i just turn the volume off, it even silences the vibrator! BTW...check out the today plugins from the same company, they are freeware, work with ppc2003 and much cooler than the defaults.

Do I need anything to run them? I can't believe that cheep-o mobile phones can do profiles....and this thing can't
I've had the same problem with the trail expiring way to soon. Haven't uninstalled yet though....
It did look like a very nice piece of software and I was concidering buying it.

it actually works for me, and I'm using it with WM2003. The author is very eager to hear your thoughts about the program, if you have a problem, email him, go to the website and see if he can help you
I installed the program yesterday. Regarding the profiles, it works fine. But another problem appeared: as you know, in the "Sounds & Notifications" settings of the Pocket PC, in the "volume" tab, you have an option to enable or disable sounds for "screen taps" and "hardware buttons". I usually uncheck these items (to disable the sounds). But since I installed "My|Phone|Profiles", I cannot control these commands: they are always ON, whatever I try to do! Even after uninstalling the software, the problem remains. I think I'll have to make a hard reset. I sent an e-mail to the author (JGUI): no convincing answer yet.

I have the oppostite problem. All the items I check keep getting UN CHECKED.
I had to make a hard reset, forget about the software, and the $10!
There is a new version of the software. Who dares trying it?
It sems that the author is listening carefully to all the critics. Last week, we were in version 1.7, today version 3.0. I dared installing it: so far, it is OK. You can change Profiles easier than Nokia phone, and the problem with the screen taps seems resolved. So far so good.

I actually do have it and so far is been runnning fine, he does listen to all your complains or bug reports, he is checking this very thread. He has even done WM2003 complaint accepts wma now)
I actually bought the app straight away because I have been missing the profiles badly on the XDA.
The only thing is that it's a real bugger to uninstall, the myprofiles.dll is only to be removed with remover.
Furhermore I saw in the news announcements at Thoughts that we should be able to aplly small icons as well, but how to install them?
First, a must: download the latest version (3.0), and read, on the website page, how to install previous versions. Do not use previous versions! When you've installed version 3, activate it on Today screen, then tap & hold on the first (general) icon. A pop-up menu shows you the new possibilities of the software. Pick 'Program Options" and uncheck "Display latger icons ...". See also other options. Have fun.

PPC2003
If I download this PPC2003 and flash my 2002/dev1.1 phone, will it then only work on O2? I am an Orange user. If so, how would I unlock it?

Ok, thanks, overlooked that option...........(I have a bad habit of not reading manuals/instructions before operating  )
Works perfectly now........
Custom Rom: TripnMIUI 1.0 Final
Independent control of flash function not working on device. Attempted to install a third party camera app "camera 360". App notifies "sorry your cell phone has no flashing" when flash option is selected.
Utilizing MIUI camera to configure flash provides two options. Auto and On. Yet neither work.
Does anyone have any information or a possible solution?
Thanks for reading.

try vignette for flash.
vignette isn't working. with the MIUI camera the dev's instructions are to switch off full screen due to some glitch that causes no picture. when i load this camera application i receive the same glitch, can not see picture what so ever.
i explored the settings in the app and there is no appropriate selection to be able to switch as i would with the MIUI camera. it seems this app isn't compatible with the rom.
I use the LED light app and just leave the light on while I take a pic >.>...
LED app like Torch? to activate the camera flash like an independent flash light?
Tried Torch, the app crashed. So I uninstalled it. Currently searching the market to see if anything is going to be compatible here. There must be some sort of fix as this flash problem wasnt listed in the dev's build release notes.
I use this https://market.android.com/details?id=jp.picolyl.led_light
even has a widget I put on my desktop... walk around my house at night like this...
i was hoping that would work
but it didn't
app installs. app loads. when i turn on the flash, nothing happens
leads me to assume there has to be a patch, because again, it must be rom related
Vignette seems to work for me. I have it set to auto flash and it comes on when I touch the screen.
Or is the point that you would rather use the miui camera?
Sorry if I misunderstood
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
when i start up Vignette i have absolutely no picture. just distorted colored stripes across the screen.
the miui camera was indicated as being faulty in full screen mode. within the release notes there were instructions to open the settings within MIUI camera and change off of full screen to resolve the picture issue.
as per developers ROM documentation:
Known bugs:
- Phone reboots when you press exit in Root Explorer (not included)
- MIUI camera has messed up screen (fix this by going into miui cam settings and turn off "Full screen"
that issue is the exact same thing that I am experiencing in Vignette. with MIUI camera i was able to make the appropriate change and restore full picture.
with Vignette no option presents itself to enable me to do this. i dont necessarily care which app i use to take pictures as long as i am able to operate the flash and sustain full camera functionality.
both miui camera the stock camera are not functioning with flash for me. i have set to automatic within miui camera and even still the flash fails to initiate.
even if i switch to "ON" within MIUI camera that doesn't work either. the stock camera app has no flash control option in its settings. and so far the third party apps i've tried such as "camera 360" resulted in a message saying my phone doesn't have flash. and Vignette was not resolving picture. i was unable to locate a respective setting similar to that of MIUI camera to initiate a functional view. therefore was forced to uninstall
Attached a temporary solution
Slightly improved brightness over my original: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=996973
I'm working on flashlight fix to work with vignette. Hopefully Trip will fix it too in next release
nice thanks. would this apk just manually be pushed through ADB to sytem/apps? or do i have the option to install straight from SD?
im going to go ahead and try this out. thanks again.
side note: is it correct to assume a pending update for this build considering it was released as a "final version" it would be nice to see some fixes implemented to further stability and full functionality.
another issue ive experienced over the past couple days back and forth between this rom is particularly when files are in midst of being transferred to sd card. but not limited to. the phone seems to force reboot. and this does not cease. case in point. i initiated sd mounting and upon hitting confirm, phone went into power cycle.
update: *Torch works perfect. I hit thanks

I have bought the depreciated version and even though it works great on latest MIUI, flash still doesn't work.
so .... like you said .... depreciated?
turns out it doesn't work after all. wonderful
i can understand the picture part working, unlike the demo. but if flash doesn't work. it doesn't turn out to be an all in one solution. flash is the issue here. i can utilize either miui or even stock camera for the pictures. its the flash that is giving complications.

Use the torch app with it
i guess the torch app will suffice. its going to have to because every app ive tried doesn't recognize the flash function. its a smart work around.
i noticed an update pack released for the rom hopefully flash will be noted for a fix sometime in the future. thanks everyone

your right. it never worked. with anything.
although i must say i never tested it on 6.1.3 rom release. but with stock it was working for me. at least it would turn on
Hi Guys,
Wondering if anyone has experienced the following issues. Following an OTA update to JB, I have noticed 2 serious issues which I can't seem to shake. Firstly, the back camera is not working. When loading the stock camera app, the output of the camera just shows weird static/green lines.. a bit like what it used to look like when try to play an NTSC video tape on a PAL system (yes I'm that old ).
Secondly, and more importantly as I use this for business, is that Gmail's "Show quoted text" function does nothing. So when I receive a forwarded email, I tap the "Show quoted text" button and nothing happens, making it impossible to read the forward.
Steps to resolve this issue that I have taken:
1) Force closed both Gmail and Camera Apps, then cleared data. No change.
2) Factory reset from system menu - no change, and now I have to set up my Prime again!
I don't want to flash anything for now, as this is a work device I am not allowed to install custom binaries (i know I could probably cover my tracks but really don't wanna risk much with such an expensive device).
If anyone has any tips or ideas I would very much appreciate the help.
Cheers all
I have a Galaxy S2 that I'm trying to get working right for my Daughter.
It has a problem with the camera. The phone works fine in it's entirety, except the camera. When you go into it, all looks fine, except the screen is blank. The icons are all there, they rotate as you rotate the screen, then 'depress' when you press them, but nothing actually works. The menu button at the bottom brings up the 'Edit Shortcuts' function, but at this point the camera app hangs and the only way to get out of it is to press the 'Home Button. Going back into the camera, it's where it was left, but still unresponsive. Here is a video of what it does, apologies that it's not always in focus, but gives the idea.
(I'm unable to post a YouTube link!! - Please go to YouTube and add this to the address - /watch?v=pxvZKN8opFA
I've tried :-
Clear Camera Data
Factory Reset
Factory Reset + Wipe Cache
Reinstall Factory ROM package via Odin (XEU-I9100XWLSW)
...and various combinations of the above.
The phone is usable, but I'm a stubborn SOB and I really want to get it all working. Any ideas? I've seen a few threads over the 'net but nothing has helped me diagnose the problem with this phone....
Given you've already tried the obvious, it's fairly obvious what's going on & what the problem/fix is - the sensor is probably cactus = replace camera (if the working camera is important).

To be honest, it's not that obvious.
If it's the camera module at fault, it might be worth repairing. However, if it's more likely to be the motherboard, then probably not. Hence the question, to see if anyone had encountered the same problem.
To be honest, there's no way of telling whether it's the motherboard or camera module......
We don't have the phone in front of us to be able to diagnose the possible reasons. The camera breaking (for whatever reason) is a very rare occurrence for the S2, I think your thread is only about the 3rd thread of this type I've seen in nearly 20 months on this forum. The camera module itself is reasonably cheap/easy to replace......that is where I'd look first.....but (if memory serves me) I think I've read that there are 2 different versions of the module and they're not cross compatible..... So be aware that this might be a potential stumbling block.....
Here might be a good place to start your search......

My wife says I'm a phone geek....She's probably right
Hello everyone. I just got this phone the other day after returning the galaxy s5. I am loving it but I have one issue and maybe I'm just doing something wrong.
Everytime I take a picture in the camera app after tapping the check button, the camera closes and I return to the home screen. Does anyone else have this problem or is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?
Not normal. If the phone is stock (unrooted, etc.) I would try a factory reset (backup any personal data first) and see if the problem persists.
Only time I see a check in camera app is when sending picture via mms and it asks where I want to send [email protected],camera etc... if this is case of attaching picture directly from camera to an mms then this is a normal function, if taking a picture and it just closes then this is not normal reaction
Well it seems that the problem has resolved itself. I was just about to post a screen shot of the check mark so you guys could see it and then it just starting working as normal. Thanks for the responses and I'll post here if it comes up again.
Ok the problem returned... I showed the issue to a buddy who has the same phone and it also turned out that I was missing several options on the camera. I did a factory reset and the problem persisted.
I think I found the issue... I was using Google Now Launcher. Apparently that launcher doesn't play well with the camera. I uninstalled the launcher and voila, all the features (video, zoe, dual camera, etc) are back and the camera no longer closes after taking a pic.
Anyone else want to test this theory and see if happens?
confirmed issue and workaround
Hi there,
I can confirm that the Now launcher uses the native Google camera instead of the Zoe camera. I have also found that from the lock screen with the now launcher installed, unlocking by pulling the camera icon opens the full HTC zoe-enabled camera again. I find this super annoying as I'd like to have Google launcher and have the camera work properly. Anyone know a fix for this other than my workaround?
Ditto for T-Mobile HTC One (M7)
There's a lot I really like about the Google Launcher, but this just drives me nuts. I didn't really understand the workaround suggested here ( though I have no doubt it works). But the suggestion sounded on target. So, I went into my app list and shared it from there. It didn't do the funky stuff any more. I wonder if there's a setting to change that behavior: like someone thought, Hey, take a picture and go back to our regular programming? It's a shame because I really feel that the Google camera takes better picture.
In any case, just to let folks know that this is a real problem. The OP was on target.
To anyone else having this problem that does not use Google Now Launcher, another app that causes this is Omni Swipe. The default camera button in the tools section isn't the right camera (not sure what it's trying to access but still). If you add the correct camera app to the app section, it'll be fine.
Yes, this solved my problem as well. I went back to the default launcher and now the camera is working fine
