Sorry but..I havn't more info , one month ago , Vodafone Ita , has given the first italian new hermes rom but it was only a test rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298541&highlight=rom+voda+ita .
This one , is the definitive new hermes rom Voda ita.

yes, that's a usual practice in htc roms all brands and models, not only vodafone.
Vodafone Italia officially removed this update from their site, due to the problems that this firmware gave with MicroSD cards and the loss of stability of the PDA after the update was done.
So I'd suggest to update the wiki too, and warn the users that this firmware is officially bugged.

I have just bought a XDA from a o2 shop in the UK.
I have been exploring around it and checked out my Device Information and this is what it says :-
ROM version : 1.03.00 USA
ROM date : 09/24/03
Radio Version : 1.05.12
Protocol Version : 1337.12
Now to me these nubers seem totally different to what everyone else has. I have not made any alterations to the phone and as I said bought it from a o2 shop.
I was thinking of adding the o2 update to it

I believe, this ROM upgrade is for XDA not XDA II. Please be patient for about a couple of weeks and official upgrade will be available.

It's allright... allthough it is a pretty old ROM
Mine (Qtek 2020) had the same ROM when it was new, but I upgraded a couple of times, now using the 1.60 Dangaard ROM that works good...
To play it safe, wait til O2 release their official upgrade...

For us important is to have it to go back with bootloader to 1.04, so we need any version of that update, pls someone who can upload it to ftp

You IMEI number is also on you box, and posssibly on you receipt. If you still have one of those, you can look it up.

I think its not a new one. i downloaded the previous rom from that site and this one has the same size and same number.
When the previous rom was available i did get a mail from smartmobility and now i didn't get anyone.
So no new rom i guess.

The point here is that this ROM, even if is old, has Dutch language and a different CID (QTEK_203).
People who have CID = QTEK_203 on their Hermes and upgraded to something with bootloader 1.06 could not flash any other ROM because there are no other ROMs with this CID, and bootloader 1.06 does check it.
Whit this old ROM, they can downgrade to bootloader 1.04, and flash what they want again because the 1.04 bootloader doesn't enforce CID checking.
I guess it is clear now...

Hey, I want to go back to WM5 with this ROM (I want a dutch one) but when trying to go back from black 2.5 to this rom, it gives me an update error (your device is not connected on usb) can someone please help me?

I have just purchased an iMate JasJam from Telstra (was a cheap display model) and i have signed up to three mobile. I want to access planet three and do everything as if i had brought the phone on three.
Can i just install the Dopod 838 Pro ROM?
Can someone post a link to a Dopod ROM? as im not allowed into the dopod website due to me not actually owning a dopod!

To use planet 3 all you have to do is type three.net.au in ie.
before you can do that you will need the settings for 3services, 3mms and or 3netaccess configured. There is a tool that does it on wm6. link is below, you can try it for your WM5 rom. The dopod rom will only serve you to remove any telstra programs. If the cab program below doesnt work there is a thread which has the settings for you to enter manually.
*edit* the cab file has been removed from the thread (first one below) you will have to check back again to get it.

Dopod have released a ROM update specifically for 3 in AU on 2007/03/28.
The version number is: v1.30.707.8 and it states as follows:
838Pro (WM5) ROM code for Hutchison ‘3’ network - version 1.30.707.8 This ROM code will allow you to fully utilize the Planet 3 services.
As i'm not on 3 (using Black 2.0 WM6 using Vodafone AU here) i havent actually downloaded it for myself and from the look of it, its not even mentioned on the Wiki so i cant tell you exactly whats different from the generic AU ROM v1.30.707.4 released on 2006/12/01.
If you cant find it anywhere else, maybe I could download it and get it to you somehow!

Yeah, i cant log into the dopod site as i have an imate so it doesnt accept the serial number. If you could download it and post it on a filesharing site or something, that would be awesome. I know they are fairly big so i assume that writes email out (i have space, im on gmail)
Also, is WM6 good? where do i upgrade?

With that i can't update my device even with an original ROM.
It's important to me that the original ROM version is in Portuguese from Portugal.
Is there a site where i can download original ROMs?

I had the same issue and the company that could solve your problem is Novabase..
Because their upgrade site didn't recognized also my IMEI, i sent them an email asking for help but they didn't respond... So i quited waiting and flashed with the latest official ROM from QTEK in english.
All i can say is that the phone starts up very fast compared to the portuguese rom.

When i extract the file i get not an .exe installation file but a folder with lot's of files incluind the .nbf that is the file containing the OS.
This .nbf usually it's the file used for ROM customisers.
I need a true official QTEK S200 PTG ROM file that doesn't let me loose my device garanty rights!!!

I'm testing this rom in this moment... but i know this roms works on g3 and/or g4 device... because this roms are official!

For those planning to update, if you have a ROM date of 10/31/07 or later.. don't bother. It's just the same thing. The 707 on 1.31.707.09 only defines the regional setting.. I think. But everything is just the same.

im not really sure about what you said vince.i just replaced my old rom and there seems to be some differences.for one i now have voice commander and some apps im not sure how to use.
Oh.. I meant the build of the core OS/dll files.
MS VC 1.6 is just an app you can easily install. But in terms of speed and overall settings. it's just the same.
