Radio 1.41.00.11 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

Helloooooo,
There is a new Radio-ROM available for the Trinity; 1.41.00.11.
Can someone tell me if this Radio-ROM is working on the TyTN?
And yeah yeah... I know we have 1.40.30.00 and that the last digit '1' means it is for 'GPS included'.
I know we can not use GPS NOW. But I'm still negociating about modifying my TyTN to add an antenna.
So, can I or not That's the question

There is a newer Radio then 140, you can find at this thread
v1.41.00.10
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303378
I wouldn't use the Radio ROM from another machine, new radio rom's are a popular event, if it was possible to use with a hermes you would have seen Threads to that affect.

You will notice he is talking about 1.41.00.11 which is the gps enabled alternative to the radio you talked about....same radio....just no point in flashing it to the hermes.

Thanks
That's clear. Thanks for the answer.

Hermes GPS Development

[V speaking: This thread is for general GPS discussions. Please use this thread to report solid facts. Thanks!]
Today weve learned from the neighbours forum that GPS One is alive and very much kicking... Our Hermes seems to have the same Chipset and same Qualcomm 6275 chip, now the big question is - once our baby brother mastered its GPS, whataboutus (what about us..)..
Any thoughts..

Very good question indeed, do you mean we could have a gps inside our hermes now?
This sounds interesting
This isn't new news, and so far there have been zero indications from HTC re: making GPS a live feature on the Hermes...

Guys IT WORKS... to all those unbelievers... I've upgraded the ROM in a chinch, installed IGO 2006 and with trembling hands activated the GPS:
1. Fix was almost immediate
2. Sat. discovery was beyond expectations - 7 Sats
3. Almanach saved (meaning next GPS off/on got me immediate fix)
4. GPS Accuracy (DOP) = 1.2
Now all unbelievers, eat your hats.
All remaining is to adapt DOPOD ROM to our Hermeses. Let's see now what we can do here.

wow that is some great news! but one question that comes to my head is why on earth would HTC block this feature if the device could do it? shouldnt it be other way arround where they could have used it to make tytn more attractive??? anyhow if the gps thing work my tytn will be perfect!

Dopod ROM with GPS enabled from Trinity won't boot on Hermes. The GPS is enabled by the RADIO (see trinity radio rom versions end in .11). Both devices have similar radio, but AFAIK no one tried to flash a trinity radio on hermes.
See this thread for more information on the GPS in hermes devices:

Hi Pof, that's exactly what I'm saying, and I don't expect it to be a 1-2-3 thing either.. It's only that about a month ago I published an article investigating the GPS enigma on the Trinity. The investigation has led me to the conclusion that Trinity does have a GPS, but also to the fact that Trinity and Hermes share similar radio and same Qualcom chip with GPS One on board.
So earlier today I get a phone call from a friend telling me of the Dopod ROM for the Trinity enabling GPS. I couldn't wait anymore, fetched me a Trinity, dlded the ROM (while still available..) and in ~10 Mins., Voila, I'm holding in my hands the proof for my investigation and article.
Then I thout to myself..hmm.. next case, now let's prove that this can work on the Hermes as well (a side assumption in my article). If it can, it's gonna make the Hermes the real king of the hill... HSDPA, All-Band, Video-Call, Qwerty, 2MP Macro Cam., Fast CPU...now add a GPS and one has THE best yet PPCPE ever available.
I'll drink for that, .

Almost too good to be true
I am all ears let's try this happen...
correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe we need buy in from operators too. They support gpsOne by providing the system that crunches raw fixes into positional information. In this case, a hermes would send raw data to and endpoint on (say Cingular's) network and services there would convert to fix & return.
I may be all wrong here but that was how I interpreted gpsOne.
So will that Rom work on the Hermes? I have the Cingular 8525 and i had an option to download a software for GPS from Cingular for a monthly fee but i just use my BT-338 & iGo.

well if its true what you say and that it is sure they will support trinity's gpsOne + given that tytn has exactly same gpsOne = shouldnt tytn be supported too automatically?

From what i've understood that's not really the case. gpsOne can function as a normal standalone gps device, with the added feature that it can rely on assistance from the cellular network if it supports it. This results in a quicker fix and better accuracy. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assisted_GPS)
But standalone GPS should be possible!
The only question that remains is:
Is the GPS hardware of the hermes connected in a functional way?
The chips are there, but is there an antenna? And does GPS need a separate antenna? I can't see a lot of differences on internal photo's of Trinity and Hermes.
If all radios use the same antenna and if it's connected to the Qualcomm RFR6250 chip, the trinity radio rom just might enable GPS on Hermes. I certainly hope so.
And where is the antenna in the trinity?
I think we can compare the pictures of hermes and trinity that are in the FTP. If you see they are very similar.
I bet hermes has a gps, but htc didn't advertise maybe because battery problems, software problems or even hardware problems.
But first we need to find where is the antenna in trinity and then, see if we have a similar thing in hermes.
ok, if anyone has the balls to flash a trinity radio on hermes PM me... but this will most likely kill the device, I don't want to try with my hermes
@ionide: tks for the clarification! I just wasn't sure given what I was reading.
@pof: mine aren't big enough... too many unknowns.
We ultimately need a (goldcard?) solution that is guaranteed to bring back a hermes from brickdom...

JasJam Latest Radio GPS Enabled ?!?

Hi ...
I've been tinkering around with upgrading the radio stack on my JasJam ... i notice the latest (1.35.00.11) is said to have GPS Enabled ...
What are they talking about ? ... Navigational GPS ? ... and is it a hardware thing included or just a compatibility thing with GPS Hardware ?
Thanks

No, no and no.
Please read the GPS thread. GPS will never be fuctional with your JasJam unless you buy a bluetooth receiver, but the 1.35 radio stack works fine without it.

No, i mean the the GPS chip in the hermes will NEVER work. but you can use Radio ROM 1.35 regardless. the GPS part just will never initialise. Buy a bluetooth GPS.

Is it possible to upgrade X7500 to X7501 ROM ?

I want to activate the FM radio, is it possible to install X7501 ROM on X7500 device ?
It will work ?
yes you can
but you must unlock your phone first!!!!!!!
use olipro
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315831&highlight=x7500+unlocker
be sure to follow all instructions
good luck
Anyone have the X7501 ROM?
I will try this to see if the FM hardware is actually in there.
They took the front cam off the x7501, maybe the x7500 does not have FM.
Wonder if it has RDS?

FM Radio
hi, I have an HTC X7501 and reading this post made me wonder if it has a radio chip or if it can play fm radio?
X7501...FM radio??????
O my god....I must find saleman...
he had given me the wrong one
If there really was an FM radio (audio on FM frequency) on the x7501, don't you think we would already have seen some screnshots of it here? An I'm sure it would be one of the hot topics on this forum, like issues, bugs, 3rd-party apps, etc.
Oh well, I myself wish I could listen FM music on my x7501.
Sigh.

Anything ever happen with this, has anyone ever verified that the FM tuner is in the X7500 and the X7501?
I have a Touch Cruise, can I dunp the rom and extract the FM Tuner software and add it to the X7500 to use the tuner?

i am actually working on this after checking the service manual and seeing a pic of what looked like a very early athena rom with it. no gaurantees yet as it isnt working yet.

Egypt Raphael with GPS Disabled

Hi all,
I got my HTC Touch Pro (Raphael) from Egypt but as always the device has not GPS support or I think the GPS is disabled from the ROM.
Can anyone confirm that? I mean if I downloaded and flashed to another cooked ROM will the GPS wake up.
I can provide my own original ROM if that may help.
Thanks and Best Regards to the XDA-Developers.

Are all devices sold in Egypt GPS disabled?
How did you test that the device has a disabled GPS chip? Please clarify.
To give you an example, today my GPS wasn't working (as usual). Soft reset and it came back to life. I have an unbranded HTC Touch Diamond Pro. So to repeat my question, what made you think/convinced your GPS chip is disabled?

I can't test it as I have nothing mentioning GPS. i.e. I don't have any settings or anything in the device mentioning it has a GPS.
But even when I installed GoogleMaps and tried to read GPS data it captured 0 satellites.
And yes all the Raphael devices sold by the official retailers have GPS disabled.

Isn't there any software or tool to make sure that the GPS is enabled in the ROM, so if it will be taking sometime to lock I will be patient and wait .
I've been to Egypt once, and my N95 with GPS didn't work very well either.
You could try to use a cooked rom, RomeOS has GPS support, maybe it works...
Just updating the ROM will not work I think. The GPS is part of the Radio. And if you want to update your Radio you need security unlocker which you can find at the top of this sub-forum. After disabling security, you could try a Radio update. You can find the latest on the Wiki page. Will take you € 15,- to figure out if it will work.

No you only need HardSPL to update the Radios on the raphael, should you wish to flash a diamond radio then that is when you need security unlock.
I would suggest flashing the stock radio first (1.02.25.19) to see if the GPS is just disabled in the radio stack. It MIGHT just be a disabled driver in the ROM in which case a rom flash would re-enable it.

Dear microfox, I got my device from jovitronix in Egypt and yes the gps is by default disabled in that rom and no software will make it usable, trust me, I think the version was 1.90.865.3 with radio 1.02.25.19. And yes if you use any of the existing Roms (original or cooked) here on the forum you will have a workable gps again. but Please micro, for God's sake, please make a rom dump first and do not do my mistake. If anything happens and you try to go to the agent even with any original rom other than the am one you will be out of warranty. So make a dump as per this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427507 and post the rom on the forum.
p.s. try RomeOs 13, it's one of the best out there waiting for the Elite Rom
My Radio version is 1.02.25.19 as far as I see it's the same version supplied everywhere. (Correct me if I am wrong).
But the strange is the ROM version it's 1.90.485.3 WWE which I can't find anywhere else.
So I am expecting that the whole thing is implemented in the ROM not in the Radio.
Also I need your support about some point. If I am flashing a ROMeOS I need a HardSPL so do I need to secuity unlock also.
Appreciate your support.
There's no problem in hardspl as you can find the unlocked one and the original one as well in the wiki site. I already unlocked mine and kept the original hardspl just in case I need warranty. And you are absolutely right, you won't find that rom anywhere else as the damn embargo is only on our beloved Egypt. How can I help you in the rom dump procedure?

Using any GPS enabled device in Egypt is illegal
I have a friend whose company is in GPS business and a week ago he has returned from a meeting with some govermnent officials and 2 companies who provide some services for military and government. He said that using any GPS navigation in Egypt as of now is illegal and punishable by law. However it seems that this ban should be over within maybe 6 months. I know this info is not gonna help much, just for you all to understand the legal side of the problem.
some more info on that...

HTC Deceiving the egyptian customers
I regret that i did not read the forum before buying the touchpro from egypt even that i use it as my first refrence many years now and usualy i buy my PDA from emarites, this time i said my not to turst the local dealer even is more expensive and canceled my order from dubai one day before is done.
I accept that GPS is not legal (even that hundreds or thousands of egyptians entered their devices from abroad and using it without any problem..i accept and respect any regulatory restrictions) but there is a big "Fouling" and "deceiving" from HTC to the egyptian customers which i can not accept : which is to not mention the information and print it at the box as they not only disable the GPS but even disable the Hard Rest (if anyone broke it pls tell me because : vol down+enter+reset not working with me).
leave the customer to buy with satisfaction and be totally informed and not to be decived, you buy a business hit-ech device which is created to satisfy a business man who is traveling to europe & usa not a localy user only (and there you will need the navigation sys).
Pls pls pls, i need help and step by step how to bypass this deciving by enable the GPS through a stable ROM noting that there is a problem with the hard reset with me.
Thanks for reading my post and pls spread that info all over egypt that HTC is coming to deceive the egyptian customer just go and buy from emirates as they respect their customers.

Fm Radio Hack?

I know there are probally Diamond threads about this but I have been told that what Sprint did to disable the FM Radio on the Pro is not the same. Has anyone figured out a hack or any way to enable the FM Radio? I have the headphones from my mogul which I'm told will work!
Thanks
I've heard a few people think they are close, but nobody has actually done it yet.
over at ppcgeeks some have managed to get it to lock to stations, but without audio, I think it'll be a matter of time before they get it working, just like what happened with the GPS on the Mogul (Titan)

That was no hack. Via HTC to Sprint it was first simply a leak and then an official release of an OS ROM & appropriate radio with the GPS drivers.
For an active FM radio on the CDMA Touch Pro it'll come to us either in the form of the hack or a more mundane delivery as with the Titan GPS by a carrier including its functional state in their ROM. Multiple carriers have now released the phone so the chances of the latter are increased.

Yeah, I know, I just meant that people didn't believe the Titan had a GPS chip, and with a little patience were proven wrong. I really do think that there are some brilliant minds looking into this, and the phone is really new, so they may be able to get it working.
