Hi there, I've done the classic mistake of flashing the wrong Radio software on my Wallaby and now I can't get back to 4.16. I've tried installing Rom 1.1 which works fine, but I cant get the Radio upgrade (downgrade!) to go past 1%. I've read loads of pages on the forum that are similar to this and tried about 5 hours worth of 'cures' but nothing has worked so far. Any insight to this disaster would be appreciated.
Stevie.

Ok, done the V1.1 upgrade, though I cannot figure out how to use the OSimage tool. The V1.1 software contains no files that I can select from the drop down menu. I installed it via USB. It appears to be ok. That was the good news...
The bad news is that I still can't get past 1% on the radio upgrade (V4.16 ppc)!
Any ideas?-Am I missing something?-A brain maybe-I'm totally lost here.
Cheers folks.

I have the same problem. I installed the special ROM 1.1 and after charging the batterz to 100% I still can't get across the 1% point of upgrading the Radio Stack 4.16. It always fails.
Hi there,
I have just managed to to install Radio version 3.17  (which is no use to me in the UK) to see if I can install anything. It seems the only radio stack I can't install is the UK one! I cannot find anything in the forums that works and I reckon I've done nearly everything now.
Thanks,
Stevie.
Hi Experts,
I got some problem to upgrade my Hermes to the most recent 1.51 radio module.
Previously, it's shipped with rom 1.2. I flashed hard-spl V7 later, and managed to upgrade the radio to 1.41 last week. Today, I tried to upgrade it to 1.51, however, one strange thing was the flash progress bar went very slow, fortunately, it completed at last. However, when the phone rebooted, I found the radio remains at 1.41~~~~~
What's the problem with that? Any more information needed?
Thanks in advance.
that proplem with me need help plz
Can anybody help us out?
Your input would be much appreciated.
Guys,
I guess the reason why no one has responded is because there are a number of options you can take to solve this problem. Most (I think) are in the wiki, hence no response.
Take some time out to do a search on Radio Upgrade problems and see what comes up.
WB
Dear WB,
Thanks for your reply. Actually, I have already read the Wiki pages. Maybe I missed some of them. However, I cannot find a solution to it.
Thanks,
Jiayi
@Jiayiw
i recommend you to read and read and read and then upgrade roms and radios that some other users used and had no problems with them , coz your device can be simply bricked like mine if you install a bad or corrupted rom into it .
good luck
WBR
It just occurred to me that, after I flashed the radio to the 1.41, it upgrades my HTC boot to 0182....
So, there is no way to flash the radio with the HTC boot version 0182?
Also, the Radio 1.41 rom is downloaded from the wiki......
Have you tried flashing another radio version like 1.47, to see if that works? You tried downloading 1.51 froma differennt source eg here>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=323957?
WB
Thanks WB,
The problem is related to the HTC boot in my Hermes, it's 0182 already, I am not sure why it got upgraded after my flashing last time.
Anyway, I am seeking the method to flash the radio with HTC boot at 0182.
Got the radio upgrade 3.3x and all works well with 2.x dcd rom, but upgrading to 3.0.1 has problems with phone calls. Both receiving or outgoing, the device resets 10 sec into the call. Also Voice Command 1.6 not working. sucks.
verizon xv6800
I'd be willing to bet millions you didn't follow directions when flashing.
Nope. Cooked a kitchen, tried the Verizon Rom....neither work with 3.0.1. works great with 2.x though.
Voice Command 1.6 now working OK as well under 2.3.2. I is happy. Still looking for good GPS software. I really liked Earthcomber, but doesn't work with this rom.
If you tried to flash the radio standalone, then the verizon cooked rom...you didn't follow directions.
The ONLY way to successfully upgrade to 3.0.x is by flashing the sprint update to upgrade the radio.
OK so I cry for help. Why the heck would I apply a Sprint update to a Verizon handset, granted both CDMA. I upgraded the radio at the same time as 2.2. The 2.2 DCD rom I'm using that WORKS WELL should be no different than the upgrade to 3.0.1. Unless I'm forgetting to stop customization with a soft reset.
You're not getting the point!!!
The only reason to flash sprint's official rom is so you can update the radio to its latest version. After this is done, it DOESN'T MATTER whatever rom you flash next, such as a Verizon rom. Use DCD's 3.0.1 rom it should be working. You would have known this if you read instructions. If you flashed the radio alone first, then your settings (ESN, MSID, etc) will be wiped. You will have to re-enter these either manually or call up Verizon to do it for you. This is probably why you can't make calls.
Exactly my point. I flashed the radio with the Oli 2.4 and updated the radio from stock verizon. Then flashed 2.3.2 and all is good with the new radio. So why doesn't it work with 3.0.1? I just found my way to the In and Out Burger via Odyssey Mobile locator.
Everyone keeps telling me that i didn't follow the destructions but they don't point to where they are.
Maybe wrong radio ver?
Crap. Mine says 3.24.00. I guess that's my problem. I'm an idiot.
Please point me to the proper radio D/L.
Thanks,
Sorry for asking what is probably a simple question, but I am having the same problems. I have SPL-2.40.Olipro atm, installed the verizon ROM upgrading to 3.0.1 from NexVision's Hybrid rom. My radio is upgraded to 3.25 or whatever it was supposed to do fine. On vibrate mode, when a phone call is incoming, I get stuck in an ever ending vibrating. I can text, and attempt to cal lsomeone but nothing can be heard and no one can hear me. I know i screwed up somehow- but what exact steps do I do to remedy this?
Thank you in advance
We have to do the Sprint radio update to 3.35 first, which is an upgrade from 3.27. Then go to ROM 3.0.1.
It's always interesting to me how people jump up to say "you're doing it wrong" but don't tell you how to do it right.
Here's how to do it right.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=17667
Gecko122, There is more to the Sprint file than just the radio... It includes the ROM as well.... My understanding is this:
1st - Run Olipro unlocker 2.4
2nd - Run Sprint Official upgrade , NO CUSTOMIZATIONS.
3rd - Load Custom ROM.....
That has worked for me.....
PS - the DCD 2.x.x series do NOT play well with the new radio, hence the 3.0.1 kitchen.... Driver differences....
do i have to flash back to a former version of dcd or anything? or can i start from a messed up 3.0.1?
hi Penn,
Well, exactly what have you done to your phone?
Bootloader version?
ROM version?
Radio Ver?
Then we can start from there and develope a plan to help ya.
Ignore that above - I re-read you original post....
Here's what you can do and correct me if I'm wrong Penn...
You have Oli-pro 2.4 bootloader loaded
You have DCD 3.0.1 ROM loaded
You have the 3.27 Radio loaded?
If the above is true, then we have options..... Let me know

No, I flashed new radio stand alone package by dcd first day from an olipro 1.20 then 3.0.0 rom then 2.40 bootloader, and then one day later 3.0.1 rom... I never use sprint upgrade at all, and I have no problem about my phone at all. There is not just one way

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you the one with the extremely long, complicated post about how you were able to get everything working that way?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2014972&postcount=326
Secondly, you may have been able to get everything working, but you're lucky. The chance of problems occurring by flashing this way is way too high in my opinion to even bother, not to mention others have had problems that absolutely cannot be fixed without reflashing back to stock and updating with the sprint update. That is why dcd removed the standalone radio from the Radio Rom thread.
Gecko, the reason why I did not "tell" you how to do it the right way is because dcd's thread has 94 pages of information on how to do it the right way. I've even posted several times on different pages in that thread with explicit instructions on how to. While I am always very eager to welcome newcomers to this community, I also strongly encourage them to read, research and educate themselves before touching their device. It doesn't mean I'm not a nice guy and don't like to help, because if you search my posts you will see that I help a lot around here. If you had simply taken 20 minutes and even skimmed dcd's thread, you would have found the answer yourself in no time.

Wow... I'm sorry, I had not been keeping up with the issues of others, so until you said that just now, I had no idea. You are right, I am really lucky, so thanks for bringing it to my attention.
No problem
Hi
sorry if this thread is doubled.
I have upgraded my Olipro 2.3 to 2.6. The upgrade proces ended with error, but the newer version was flashed into phone and working.
Now, when i upgrade any rom, at 100% the phone dont reboots itself, i need reboot it manually, at computer is the error state. But all the roms work normally, after reboot. I am unable to downgrade to 2.3, re-flashing to 2.6 is with the same end - error.
can anyone help me how to repair this?
thx
aaaaaaarghh
sorry for this idiot´s thread
fixed
i apologize
admin, can you delete this?
Hi all,
I am new to android so please forgive me if i am unclear about my question.
I've also digged for answers but came up with nothing.
Anyway I was hoping someone could help me with the new radio 47.63.35.21U_7.16.35.11.
Ever since i've upgraded to 7.16, i've lost the abilities to:
1. connect to mobile network
2. able to detect and lock on to any satellites.
Downgrading to the original radio didn't solve those issues...
I am currently using Gene Poole's Liberated hfr005b and it's awesome! Battery acting like it should.
My satellite problem is very similar to klbmth in this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12477387&postcount=25
and as for my mobile network i've tried changing settings as instructed by lateral18 in this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14117740&postcount=556
i did my hard reset/wipe dalvik/format system before i flashed my aria with hfr005b and the new radio.img...
does anyone have similar problems to my situation??
Thanks in advance!
Do you have an AT&T-branded Aria? If so, I'd suggest running the RUU from here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9D9NGT6J
This will restore your phone back to the factory default (including reverting the radio back to the original state).
You can do this without losing any settings by doing this:
1) Make a Nandroid backup.
2) Run the RUU to revert your phone back to factory defaults and (hopefully) fix the radio problem. Important: Do not use the RUU from HTC's website. If you do you won't be able to root afterward. Use the one in the link above.
3) Make sure everything is working again (mobile connection and GPS).
4) Use Unrevoked again to reinstall Clockwork on the phone.
5) Once you have Clockwork installed, do a Nandroid restore. Nandroid does not back up the radio image so you should be back just like you were except with a working radio image.
Also I'd strongly suggest not installing any radio updates in the future.
Hi drumist!
thanks for the quick reply!!!
yes i do have AT&T branded Aria and i'll definitly try out your suggestion.
i flashed the new radio because it was said to "fast lock to sats" and so on... which seemed nice to have
i had no idea it would have such an effect on my aria (when it is fine with everyone else)...
however i was wondering, if not too much trouble, could you please elaborate why updating radio is not a good idea?

Well, basically it's one of the few risky things you can install on your phone. When you install a ROM, there's basically no risk involved because even if the installation fails, you can just get back into Clockwork and install another one or try again. There's no risk of permanent damage.
Installing a radio image through Clockworkmod, however, is somewhat risky. Ideally nothing goes wrong and it works fine. However if something DOES go wrong, it's possible to permanently brick your phone in the process.
There's nothing specifically bad about updating the radio -- if it works then it's no big deal. But since it seems like something did go wrong on your phone when you installed the radio, you're lucky that the phone is still working at all.
I doubt you would even notice any difference between the two radio versions anyway. The differences appear to be very minor.

Having just bricked my phone with messing with radio images, I couldn't agree with you more.
T
thanks for the quick explanation drumist!
and sorry to hear tedkunich's aria was bricked from flashing radio image... that sucks
just to report back:
GPS is working fine again! found sats within seconds and got a few fixes within half a min...
mobile network, on the other hand, isn't... i think it has to do with Gene's ROM... because when i restored a previous backup (fr008) i can connect (WCDAM) right away...
anyway i am more than grateful already... and i'll do more digging on the mobile network issue...
thanks again!
