Hemmm i've forget a thing..
The PDA Charges only 1 time at boot.. why?
I've cortocircuited pins 1 and 2, with the male usb jack in front of you and the white plastic in the low side.

very nice ... what's the usb port for?

The phone will only charge once because you will need to short pins 4 and 5 on the mini USB side of your connector.
To simplify, the TyTN looks for this short to decide what to do with the USB connection. You need to trick it into thinking that the USB cable is a charger.
There's another thread on this somewhere else. It might be a bit difficult to solder, but it'll work.
Oh. One more thing: Your phone will charge more than just the once (after a reboot)... It should also charge if it's turned off (standby). Might take a minute or so, but it should work.

Errhhh, it looks pretty much like my Shift charger, except that mine has a magnet around the cable about 4 inches from the connector. The connector looks identical.

Anyone have any experience with this?
The safest way is to by one from ebay.Ive made a USB jig for a i9000 and i9100 to see if they work and they worked fine. The key to getting them to work isnt just in the soldering but in the resistance. You need to have 301K ohm of resistance when tested with a volt meter after you have made it or it wont work.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdn5GoRjhn0&feature=related
Jig
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Got 301 but i had to use extra 1k resistors to get it. still not working
Does the wattage matter because these are all 1/2 a watt.
I'm thinking because the USB port failed I'm screwed.
Took it to sprint and they replaced it.

Safe to use other Micro USB cables?

im looking at the differences between the 5 inch cord htc gives you and the one i bought from monoprice thats 6 feet. the openings on the plugs look different.
anyone else using a diff cord??
left is htc cable included, right is monoprice 6ft

bamp. am i worrying about nothing?
Have you tried the one from monoprice yet? I have one of their cables as well(10ft) and the plug is exactly the same as your picture. I used it on my OG evo and it worked. The only problem was it was a really tight fit and I felt like it was going to rip my usb port out when I removed it.(It happened to my friends evo so I know its possible) Needless to say I only used it once and thats it.
its pretty tight, plugging in and out.
im keeping a close eye on it.
It will work fine...
And yes its safe to use....

Micro SD Break out board to usb host?

Not an easy question to answer! But what are the chances of using a Micro SD Break out board and making a Usb Host from this port? Then the charger could be used whilst watching a movie say for example due to D- and D+ being able to be shorted and resistors added without effecting data transfer due to usb now being on different lines....
Basically this is another approach to having Usb host and charging at same time for watching movies whilst travelling.
Will post up break out pic later..
Also the make your own cables thread with usb host plus charging doesnt work.

Something like this? Maybe....
Can get an adapter from usb to micro sd so wires could be done?
Also seen this could be used??
