Has anyone been able to get the cingular ROM off the device and installed on a Qtek? Is anyone working on it?
I haven't heard of anyone trying this yet, but imagine they will in time. To be honest with you, I am using the IMAte Rom on my QTEk on the Cingular Network and have no desire to change it. Unless someone could show me there is a benefit in switching, I am happy were I am.
On a related note, the delay may have something to do with the size of the ROM. I have heard speculation that due to the 3125's 128MB memory size, versus the 64MB size of the QTEK, that the actual ROM itself may not fit. But again, that is only speculation, and others have stated that the extra memory has nothing to do with the ROM.
It is available at

I installed it on my Qtek 8500, all is working fine.

I uploaded the file to ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/StarTrek/
What is the diference between 3125 and 3100 models?
Thanks.
RE: cingular 3125 ROM on Qtek 8500
For those that have done it,: above comments aside, I am curious as to the thoughts. Are you updating your Qtek from the Qtek ROM, or other.
I have yet to read anything that shows the differences between the IMate and Cingular ROMS and what, if any changes were made, other than custom features and proprietary logos.
Does the Cingular come with any apps that are more desireable than another?
may I ask how do you upgrade a QTEK isn't there some special upgrade utility. or is it just running the executable. and it does not matter what manufacturer device you have?
Cingular told me the machine would use blue towers better running its ROM. No idea if that is true.
Data setups work w/o manual entry, obviously not a big deal.
Some Cingular junk included.
Clearvue loaded in flash (same as i-Mate) - not with QTEK
A bit more free memory.
Other than that I see little difference between CIngular and the i-Mate ROM I was running. QREK ROM definately had problems with Cingular - missed lots of calls. This also occurs on my wife's Smartflip and she uses T-Mobile.
"Blue Towers" ?

About the QTEK ROM missing calls, is supposed to be a common issue. I had it too, but then I turned on the BT and left it on the problem with missing calls was gone.
Blue towers are the old AT&T towers...
Cingular ROM on QTEK 8500
I flashed the Cingular ROM on my QTEK 8500.
Very happy with it.
I have the (subjective) feeling, that it runs better than with the 8500 ROM
Cheers

The 3125 has the camera, the 3100 does not. Everything else is exactly the same.

Can you one just run the upgrade ?? no special upgrade utils ?? Can you go back to QTEK RM if the Cingular is not to my liking?

Of course the device has to be CID-unlocked, i.e. totally unlocked (cert, etc.)
After that, no problem switching between ROM's (I also tried Dopod and i-mate)
But found cingular best up to now
Cheers

At the moment full Sim and CID unlocking can only be done online, no free ways yet, though I`m sure its being worked on.
Got my 8500 unlocked within 20mins of getting the unit, currently running the I-mate rom and am more than happy with it.
http://www.imei-check.co.uk/f600unlock.php £20 not really that bad.
Now we some tools to cook our own roms !
Does Cingular 3125 ROM "Re-Lock" Qtek 8500?
I've unlocked my 8500 and installed i-Mate ROM - all seems to be working well (no missed calls). If I wanted to install the Cingular 3125 ROM, would it "re-lock" the device?
I got the SA problem on my Hermes so I need to send it to HTC for repair.
I CID unlocked it.
How do I lock it back ?
Has anybody sent it to HTC with super-CID and "got away with it"?
This would be why the ROMs are being pulled, you should just be honest, you no longer have a warranty.
no... not really, people do what they want to do.
as far as it goes with HTC, try your luck and hope for the best, you never know...
I sent a CID and SIM unlocked 8125 back to Cingular due to a screen alignment problem. They never complained & sent me a replacement unit.
YMMV
cingular refurbishes them (or audiovox does) and sends them back to ppl as warranty replacements.
On a side note, I was worried about this too. I've never had to sent my TyTN in for repairs, however, I've read over the warranty info multiple times. IMHO, it states very clearly that warranty is on hardware, not software. As such, if someone would make a case out of this, they would have a very difficult time. Since software is not part of the warranty, and you basically own the device, I don't see them having any right to not repair your device.
Ofcourse, IANAL, but it would be interesting to see what would happen

Are you referring to Cingular units? I contacted HTC US and they told me they only repair Cingular (or TMob, etc.) -- branded -- units. They don't repair HTC TyTNs. Referred me to HTC Europe but when I tried to contact them couldn't get a response because I'm in the US.
I had my Charmer, which is CID unlocked and SIM unlocked (which I tried to SIM locked it back, and I think I did), sent to HTC in UK for a speaker (once) and a motherboard (another time) problems. They changed the thing for me without mentioning anything about the CID unlocked. I did change my ROM back to the original one though.

I think I should do that too... I got the Cingular ROM (!).
Is it safe to down grade from Cingular 2.06 to HTC`s 1st ROM ?

Audiovox is HTC us distributor, they only repair TMO and Cingular units, so 8525.

Thanks -- that's the root of the issue -- no one in the US seems willing to repair HTC TyTN (which, I realize, was never sold as a US product) -- but, when I try to find someone overseas who will repair a TyTN, they seem disinclined to deal with me because I'm in the US, and refer me to HTC US. It's a dilemma..... and I have a sick TyTN.
I have an Hermes right now... and I love it (Thanks to PDACorner's excellent WM6.1 ROM). But... I cant keep thinking I would be even happier with a Rafael
Does someone know if the phone is expected in Japan (I havent found anything from Softbank or Docomo) ?
If not I was even considering buying the phone online but if I remember well wifiwake is device specific so I wont be able to get my flat fee package for packets to work I guess...
Waoh looks like everybody is excited about it

Wrong forum bro might pay to look on the other side also what does expansys say?
Yes and no... I hesitated between the 2 threads... Since with Softbank the only HTC device available is the Hermes, and the access to Softbank flatrate is password protected (and we do not have the password...) it does make sense to post here. People wishing to upgrade from their Softbank X01HT are all going to face this issue...
Any way fr the ones who have interest, au will be the operator selling the Touch Pro
hi guys
I'm starting to get a crackle/static in my earpiece. I want to be able to get a replacement speaker shipped to me here in India, but I dont see many options at all for this... as opposed to the Atrix or other phones.
my question is - similar to the Moto Defy which takes k850i earpieces perfectly well, is there an alternative for Photon 4g earpieces ? I actually dont see a single OEM photon earpiece on ebay.
Thanks!!
Hi all.
After using the Standard One X for the last couple of years, I came across the deal of a lifetime on a mint One X+ from a person i know well, so I know it's not too good to be true etc etc....but it's sim locked.
Does anyone know the most reliable and trustworthy place, preferably in the UK to get it Sim unlocked online, for a nice cheap price, before I root it etc and install custom ROM?
Any help will be very much appreciated.:good:
cheers
Matt
