I just picked up one off ebay...
I'm now a little pissed that I think it's a fake now that I read about that.
The quality is just fine for what I need them for except that playing music they work fine..
I play a movie.. NO GO..
Anyone else experience this?
What about other Headsets...
Again Windows Media Player MP3's work fine... MP4 Video.. it won't play though these.
Thanks,
__________
Ok does any A2DP device work with Playback of Video files (mp4) though WMP?
Thought someone would have said something by now..
I'd like to know is it a setting, My Sony Headset? or something else???
Thanks,
wtf???
it doesnt work!!! i own a pair of jabra bt620s and they're awesome... i never tried it before, but while playing mp4 videos the sound comes from the speakers...!!! i cant get the audio to come over the 620s..
is this using TCPMP?
or just using standard WMP?
Standard WMP for me..
Anyone want to tell me if TCPMP is different?
yeah TCPMP can play video files while streaming audio to a BT Headset.
but you have to use the ATI Decoder, and the videos should be encoded either to divx/xvid or vcd, so that they would be played without any dropped frames..you'll get a lot of artifacts though. i believe mpeg1 movies get less artifacts. (h264 videos can be played smoothly using ATI, but even with very low bitrates, you will get a lot of dropped frames if you try a2dp at the same time)
No problem....if you want a killer media player go for Coreplayer 1.1.0 (just released). This is the fully retail version of TCPMP (its changed names) and DAMN it works a treat.
ATImageON playback is flawless now even with Dvix/xvid.
Definatly streams over A2DP on vids.
errmm i can do it on a standard unmodded hermes ???? and ive just got Motorola HT820 ad2p headset. i use smartmovie (convert the original etc) but running a movie via smartmovie tcmp or wmp all work just fine.
watched second ep of robin hood this morning (that show is brilliant)

So other than the new TCPMP AKA Coreplayer 1.1.0 there is no other way
to get the same quality image playback when using the HTC USB headset
if you want to stream sound over A2DP using a BT stereo headset such as
the Motorola S9?

I have tried the standard video player, Meridian, mVideoPlayer, QQPlayer, and VitalPLayer. All but the standard player that came on the phone and QQPlayer play great video but no sound. The standard player plays sound but looks like garbage and the QQplayer just sucks on this phone.
Does anyone know of a good player that will play good quality video and sound?
That might be a phone issue. I use mVideoPlayer and it works perfectly. Both the sound and video quality are great.
-Doogs™
I use RockPlayer, it works perfectly and even plays .avi files straight from.the phone
iam going to try this out. thx
Using MoboPlayer here and everything is good!
I can't for the life of me get this to work i have this 1080p AAC/MP4 harry potter movie- works fine on my laptop and desktop- but wont play on this tablet.
Initially when I got the tablet i was excited and installed the gtabcomb rom (for 1.1) this was AWESOME, but obviously no hd video support (which is really what I am after...)
Ive tried CM7, Gtab TNT lite 4.40, Calkulins, and im about to try the vegan rom.
I have the 1.1 boot loader.
Ive tried like 5 different video players, none have worked except for the software decoding on rockplayer... HOWEVER this was 10 fps, and distorted.
What do I do here? I really want decent hd video.
Thanks!
EDIT: Vegan is clear and the audio is working properly all with the default player BUT the FPS is less than 15...
Now what ?
What player have you tried? For me, between qqplayer, mvideoplayer, and arcmedia, I can play just about everything under the sun.
:<
Going to try some other players now, i will make a list.
strangely - after having the video work (sort of ) in the vegan default player... I tried rock player again.
That fails- when i click hardware decode it just flashes and goes back to the video list... software decode does nothing... just black screen.
SO i uninstalled it.
And now the default vegan player doesn't work at all- just says " can't player this video" (or something like that).
So frustrating
EDIT:
Rock Player : Clear video but 15fps or lower, audio but jumpy.
QQ - Clear video imagery but 15fps or lower, no audio.
ARCMedia - Choppy video at 15ps or lower, choppy techoy - audio....
mVideo - "Cannot player this video" (exiting... then im back at the video list much like the default app)
Try moboplayer, but I dont think the gtablet can do 720p or 1080p unless properly encoded specifically for the gtablet - not powerful enough (ie stuttering).
Same
Mobo player with soft decoding works but still 15fps or lower.
What is the absolute best container, format for a 1080p file to be encoded?
Moboplayer plays almost everything I throw at it with very little stuttering while streaming from my home network using UPnPlay but the audio from the gtab is way to low. When I plug in headphones the volume is OK.
I have gone into sound settings on the gtab and the set device volume is always at 50% even after I increase it to 100%.
Suggestions?

Weird. My gtab's sound is the loudest out of the tablets I have available to me (ipad, iconia, and transformer).
Froyo
Are you running Froyo? Had the same problem until I upgraded to honeycomb. Now its nice and loud.
I thought there was absouletly no HD video support in HC :/ Is it possible to get smooth, quality 1080p playback with 1.1 BL + HC (I guess Gtabcomb?)
And how?! DO WANT!
:/
It would seem that even the stock rom does not play my video Guess it might just be the damn video lol.
Media info is saying MP4 container, h264 and acc audio.
:/
zzz
Someone please tell me what is going on, I can't imagine everyone is using these tablets without any video support...
I nvflashed to 1.2 BL - stock. bone stock, no new apps nothing.
and then i downloaded some trailers from here
http://www.h264info.com/clips.html
Now, the damn viewsonic site even says this the gtablet supports these:
S1080p H.264/H.263/ VC-1/MPEG-2/4/WMV9/DiVX 4/5 Video Decode, 1080p H.264/MPEG-4 Video Encode, Supports multi-standard audio formats, including AAC, AMR, WMA, and MP3
AND- the video (for instance the serenity hd dvd trailer on that page above) is:
Video Codec: H.264
Trailer Resolution: 720p (1280x720), High Profile (Xbox 360 Compatible)
Audio Codec: AAC LC
Resolution: Stereo, 48 kHz, VBR 128 Kbps
Why is that not playable?! I tried multiple other formats and nothing works...
I want to see this device in an out of the box way play hd video as it suggests... i can can't it?
Really frustrated, spent 4 hours tonight flashing pretty much every 1.1 rom and then nv flashing to 1.2 and flashing like 4 different 1.2 roms (including illuminate, which looked really promising but just gets stuck and the "Illuminate Android" screen...
Flash videos player (snotr.com) but youtube.com videos do not. (error occured).
EDIT: Just managed to get VitalPlayer installed (downloaded apk on computer and installed) - plays all of the above videos BUT still they are terribly slow frame rates... what am i doing wrong?
So encoding in MPEG-4 makes everything work... smaller file sizes, smooth frame rates... AAC audio seems good too.
Set bitrate at 4000 and I guess this is how ill have to do everything :/
I am currently running C&C 1.5 v6.
Streaming over UPnPlay.
Most .avi files play ok using the stock movie player - sound and picture
When I try the same file with Mobo the volume goes way down.
When I press the volume button up the on screen volume indicator gose from 50% to 100%, but there is very little change in the volume. The gtab volume indicator does not appear.
When I go back to gtab settings the volume has gone from 100% to 50%.
I have gone into the UPnPlay settings and switched between volume and volume DB with no change.
Look i know your trying to help but if you had read a single thing I have posted
* I HAVE NO ISSUES WITH VOLUME *
Just trying to get an hd video (preferably 1080p) to play at a decent frame rate (23.976+).
Thus far no h264 video works... they are all 15fps or lower.
I have found that a 720p h264 re encoded to mpeg4 @ 4000 kbps does play smooth.
However a 1080p h264 re encoded to mpeg4 @ 4000 kbps is (better than just h264) still sluggish, and the audio doesn't quite sync up.
I really just want to know what video container/codec will work best on a stock 1.2 BL T&T Rom.
I was replying to roberto188 regarding my ROM.
Didn't mean to hi-jack thread, I was just sharing my experiences and looking for help.
Well apologies accepted I am sorry for my mini-rage, just really frustrated trying to get some hd videos working on the thing.
Seems I am just going to have to deal without them...
No worries.
For what it is worth, I just switched to GtabComp 3.2 and the audio issues disappeared.

Try using this to convert your videos for the gTablet. http://dvdvideosoft.com/download/FreeVideoToAndroidConverter.exe
It's free and it has a setting for the Viewsonic Viewpad 10 (1024x600, 1.5Mbps, 128kbps AAC, 48khz, standard quality) and they play perfectly on my Caulkulin+Clemsyn Combo v6 (Froyo).
Thanks will do! I found that mpeg seems to work best but i def got hw acceleration working with caulkulin+clemsyn combo not sure if h264 is working but at least the videos are clear and crisp - I will see about this software thanks!
edit:
FYI Just tried the program, it converts them to mpeg-4 anyway just does it really clean, and faster than handbrake.
Good find TY!!!
so does this mean that when ViewSonic says the Gtablet can play 1080p....are they really saying if you convert your existing movie file into another format with different bit rates and special settings then the Gtablet can play 1080P?
My daily driver will do 250 mph and use no gas.......if I push it out of an airplane....
Hey guys,
Loving my Prime but I'm finding the video playback hit and miss to be honest.
I'm finding them all very buggy and most of them kick me out of the video randomly even without anything else running.
All of the below run perfectly on my friends Galaxy SII so it may be ICS?
I want to play back XVIDs and MKVs with subtitle support.
Below are the players I've tried and their results:
Google Videos:
Reads MicroSD
Plays MKV (some without sound) but NOT XVID
Doesn't support subtitles
STABLE
Rockplayer
Plays XVID & MKV
No subtitle support
UNSTABLE
MX Video Player Pro
Plays XVID & MKV
Subtitle support
UNSTABLE
MoboPlayer
Plays XVID & MKV
No subtitle support
UNSTABLE
How have you guys been finding video playback on this guy?
I play on using this tablet for a lot of video consumption so I'd love to get this sorted.
Thanks for the help!
Dice Player has been gold for me, playing everything I've thrown at it (720p mkv, avi, mpeg). I haven't tried anything with subtitles, but it supposedly supports them.
There's currently only the ad-supported version available, but the ads are small and don't show up at all should you use microHDMI to display the video on an external screen.
MX video player has worked great for me. Try different encoders if something in your video isn't working well (ie, HW, SW, etc). Also, try re-installing if you think ICS broke it.
Diceplayer is the best I think. Plays everything just fine and have good setting for subtitle.
I watch my videos most with subtitle and i haven't had any problems. Easy to change size and if you long press on the subtitle text you can move it up and down. Also have easy access to change the subtitle sync. And the add only shows when the controls are showing. here You don't see the add when the video plays and the controls and status bar hides.
And if some videos don't play properly i say that the problem often is the video file that is encoded strange.
MX Pro works great for me even on my high profile x264 encodes. SW decoder works better than HW decoder (go figure right? I would have thought the opposite) with fast mode disabled.
Edit: I have to agree with Andreas, if you're having playback issues it's likely the video not the player. Encoding is a subtle art, not everyone gets it right. Get your vids from well known sources like Thora.
Thanks a million guys.
MX Player Pro doesn't support HW decoding on the Transformer Prime. At least on mine it doesn't. Dunno why. And its really flakey. It keep crashing out on any file I try to play (XVID, MP4, MKV)
DicePlayer is WIN so far! Thanks for the recommend!
It's playing everything with subtitles too.
The only thing I don't like about it is the background 'behind' the movie is a gradient from black at the top to grey at the bottom so on some movies you've got a grey at the bottom of the picture instead of it playing on a full black background.
Unless you guys know how I can change that I'll be using DicePlayer until something better comes along.
HURRY UP VLC!
HW decoding technically works on my Prime, but SW decoding performs better. Is the option not even available for you in settings? Free or Pro? Also, no VLC...ever. Just no.
OK!
Very happy to report that after purchasing the full version of MX Player Pro EVERYTHING WORKS GREAT!!!!
Many thanks again guys!
XDA ROCKS!

Another vote for DICE. Hopefully they can get their payment issues sorted out.
Dice is the best IMO. I run huge 1080p files and only Dice can handle it without a hiccup. MX Player Pro has a skip every once and a while. Not that big but Dice doesn't do it so it wins.
VitalPlayer Pro seems to work well. It can't navigate to the MicroSD card though.
BSPlayer has worked well for me. I use the lite version and all is good. It handles all video/audio as well has HW decoding for supported video types.
My vote goes to Dice player. It is the only one that I have tested that doesn't have audio lag when I am using bluetooth headphones. Also it plays everything I can throw at it.
And don't forget to instal mx player codec pack for armv7.. In market too.
MX Player will prompt you if it needs a codec pack installed. In the Primes case it does not, it is good to go.
Since I use and like DVD Catalyst 4 to convert my DVD's to video I also use their video app called Movie Gallery. Not sure if it plays all codecs but it sure works great with my converted DVD's
I used to use VPlayer when it was beta/free but now I use vlc for android http://cvpcs.org/blog/2011-09-18/videolan_for_android_pre-alpha
I get my TFP tomorrow but it works on my phone and the OG transformer according to the post so it should work on the prime. NONeon btw at least the OG was NONeon
I sure hope that it does.
video and sound on tv, subtitle on prime
I've tried Dice- and MX player and with both programs I get sound and video on my tv playing avi but the subs will be displayed only on the Prime. Has anyone the same problem or does someone a solution?
Does MXPlayer require an internet connection for the key verification? I saw some reviews that stated it did. Obviously on a wifi only device i may be without internet... Anyone have trouble with this?

You have to use software decoding if you want soft subs, the hardware decoder on the prime doesn't handle them when outputting.
Hi
i have use mx player for a while on my tablet.
but since they removed the DTS audio codec i have switched to vplayer
but my issue on my prime is that when i play for instance an episode of game of thrones or breaking bad on 720p .mkv version it starts ok...
but after a minute... the audio decoder doens't work anymore and it seems like you can hear only the background noise...
i used to have the same problem with mx player, but there i had found an easy option make the audio normal again. I use to switch form hardware <--> software decoding. And then it would be ok.
the odd thing is that this doens't happen with HD movies...
But for the vplayer i haven't found a sollution. Is there anyone who had te same issue?
thanks
I had issues with MX player when trying to play 1080p .mkv files and the best solution i found was to download and use BSPlayer and go into settings and set it to use Hardware decoding (BSEngine).
Never had any issues and 1080p .mkv files play perfectly - even on power save mode

Third! It's what I use!
Tried different formats?
I've only had my TP for a short time and have only tried a couple of movies on it. Not knowing which format was best I chose to rip to MP4 format and it hasn't given me any trouble so far. Is there some advantage to .mkv?
mkv is more of a losless wrapper, better quality, no compression, much larger file than mp4
The thing with Diceplayer or most players doesn't render embedded subtitles. MX Player renders it fine though. So even thought I get artifacts on MX Player when playing 10bit MKV or 1080p MKV animes, I stick with it. Yes I messed with the settings on those other players.
Well I'm getting issues with Dice not wanting to open files with DTS audio. If I open the video through file manager and choose Dice, it'll play the video no problem but no audio. If I try to open inside Dice, it crashes. Vplayer works with audio, but drops frames even if I choose 'hardware acceleration' I'll try mx and see if that works.
EDIT:
Nope, MX won't play the audio either. It at least shows me that their is an audio track, and that the audio is DTS track, but it won't play it. Any suggestions besides transcoding the audio?
i believe it was when MX player got updated to 1.6 that they removed the DTS codec. If you never had problems before they removed the codec and prefer mx player just google MX player apk X.XX and find the version with the codec in it. I would tell you the website to go to, but it's a no no on XDA.

Hey thanks!! Downloaded 1.5a and bam! DTS playback is perfect! Thanks again!
FYI
Dice version 2.0.5 also has DTS intact. You can find it somewhere on google, and plays HD files better in my opinion.
The latest version of MX Player that still supports DTS audio is 1.6f, and for Dice Player it's 2.0.6.
I've heard these versions are incompatible with Jelly Bean, so it looks like we'll have to find a new solution once the update comes out. (likely switching to BS Player)
I've always been an advocate of Dice, and with the majority of my stuff in Xvid or more recently, mp4, all stashed on a server that was smb shared, it worked a treat.
However, I've never been able to get HD mkvs above 720p to play well, and even those had the occasional laggy or jerky moment. I always put that down to network speed, though.
However, I've just tried the latest BS Player and all I can say is wow. It has just played all of my 1080p stuff over the LAN without breaking a sweat.
I am jumping ship. Very recommended.
Just wonderig what settings can be used to get the audio from my BD's to play correctly in stock video player.
Ive tried Serenity and I Am Legend. I tried AAC(faac and other one), AC3 (pass thru and ff*something), MP3(lame), even DTS. tried stero, dolby surround, pro logic II, various sample and bit rates.
No matter which combinations i used i either got no audio or audio that was out of sync...behind about 2/3 seconds maybe.
Anyone know of an audio settings that will allow stick player to play audio without issue.
*Dice player played some of these fine, others with lagged audio....but i would like these to play stock player.
Thanks

Personally,I've never had much luck with the stock video player.Mobo Player has a free version from the market and will play just about anything using the soft decoding setting from within the app.
Unfortunately I can't offer any advice using HB, I do all of my conversion/transcoding using mplayer/mencoder. I would think that any standard mp3 bitrate would work. You may need to lower the video quality a bit too in order for your phone to have enough CPU to keep things in sync. That is assuming it's in sync when you test playing on a computer with something like VLC...
If you'd like, I'll check the rates of some files at home this evening and let you know what rates I have for them.
As far as playing the files on your phone, the best app I've found is MXPlayer. Well, and XBMC to play from my DLNA server over the network
Mxplayer and esfile to stream over the network
